"Feel that moisture nearby? There must be water nearby. These trees could not have grown otherwise."
"And where there are plants, there should also be animals."
K'aketak looks around to see if he can find any tracks that might indicate game.

"Perhaps it knows where to find water?"
"You are likely right. Animals generally know such things."

Varro the Wanderer |

Varro begins studying the tracks more closely. Maybe he can find where this animal was headed. Hopefully it could take us to water like the giant said.

Add another +1 to that if we are still in the desert.
If he finds anything he motions to the group to come over and check it out.

The tracks lead farther into the jungle, and the ground becomes soft dirt, stuff rare back across the sea. And it leads to a tree, where it appears the wildcat jumped into the trees... However the smell if water is definitely clear...
And there it is, a pool if water, dark brown and rather dirty, but water none the less. It is small, and not very deep, no more than a gallon really...

Tkk-Tkk |

Tkk-Tkk drops to one knee and touches the water. The dirt quickly settles. She will scoop up a mouthful of the now-clean water, then step back for the others to drink.

K'aketak Dustwalker |

"Water. This is a good sign."
"But we will need to find a larger source if we plan to be here for any length of time."
Do I think this pool will naturally refill over time (i.e. from groundwater)? Or does it look like it was caused by something else?

She fills her canteen. Water. More valuable than gold or iron.
"Indeed. The more the better. We need to savour and save as much as we can in the water forsaken world" if the tree is cleared that there isn't a nasty cat in it. She will go stand in the shade

Tkk-tkk examines the area to see if she can find signs of other water nearby. She cannot help but feel sustained by this.

She bows over the compliment, "I sense poison, and I can make food and water fresh again. I have a little healing, and I help people slip free when bound. I have had visions of a place where water has never been burned by the sun. It is so pure it becomes like glass and with a touch it not-burns the wicked. When I focus I can use such pure water as a weapon for a short time. " She looks over the land. "My gifts are small, but perhaps by protecting this land and it's precious secrets they may grow."
"You spend your nights out among the stars above. What have they taught you?"

Varro the Wanderer |

Varro kneels down beside the puddle and takes a scoop of water into his hands. Listening to the conversation, he raises his hands to his mouth to drink deeply. The water was refreshing, but there had to be more nearby. Who is this thri-kreen that practices the arcane openly? I should keep my eye on that, but maybe I have found an accepting group for my... problem.
Impressive. Where I come from they bury you up to your neck in the sands for that kind of thing. If the heat doesn't kill you, the scorpions nesting nearby will.
He splashes the little remaining water in his hands on his face. The wet rags against the side of his face felt invigorating. Varro had to find the larger source of water and keeps looking.

Tkk-Tkk |

"Bury me? Only the unknowing would do so. I only channel the spirits within the land already. It works to preserve the world, not drawing from it. It is not like the magic the sorcerers use."

Illuriel Stargazer |

"I can call the upon the heavens to bless us, and can instill the fear of things that lurk in the dark on others. A bit of healing, as well." Illuriel answers.

K'aketak Dustwalker |

Weird... I was sure I had posted here but it looks like it got eaten. Can't recall what I said now.
"Interesting... the water could have come from the trees. So perhaps some wise creature cut the trees to get water drawn up by the tree's roots? An animal perhaps?"
"A worthwhile trick to remember. But we should press on."

Varro the Wanderer |

Varro looks at Tkk-Tkk with a look as if he did not understand or that he knew no difference. With that look he shrugs amd moves to investigate the trees. He takes some on his finger and smells it before trying some. At K'aketak's words he moves further into the area.

"Sounds like a storm is brewing. Perhaps we should seek shelter."
K'aketak looks around to see if any spot in sight looks like it would provide shelter.
Are the trees rustling from wind? Or is something disturbing them?

The thundering isn't a storm... It sounds more of the crashing of stone than of the sound of lightning...
The trees are undisturbed.
As you progress deeper into the forest the foliage gets thicker and thicker. Eventually you begin to feel the sting of bugs, and the air becomes a hot humid much. Seems most of the water here hangs in the air...
Then Tkk can feel a light pool of water in the moss he steps in... The ground is covered with it, and it seems to be holding all the moisture.

Tkk-Tkk |

Tkk-tkk puts a hand down to the moss and they advance toward the noise. "More water." there is a joy to this, along with a fierce determination to deal with the things that threaten this land.

Illuriel starts examining the pool of water to see how it is formed.

The water isn't coming from the ground... Or at least from what you can tell... As you move you come to a pond, although a Shallow one. The land here dips, allowing the water to collect.
It is likely from the formation of the pond it infact comes from rain, or possibly a high water table

Nox the Black |

"Water is such an arrow place is quite a strange occurrence indeed. I have very little knowledge of the surface. So it is quite fortuitous that there are more knowledgeable creatures here"

"It's always good to find water. But there is bound to be a variety of interesting things. Let's keep going. Perhaps we should investigate the noise."
K'aketak gets ready to head in the direction of the sound as soon as everyone is ready.
