Hi Antares!
Just got a hold of the pdf for Dreaming of the Future and it's got some very sweet stuff going on. Looking forward to August!

GM Cellion |

Hi again boys and girls! I wanna get a quick head count to make sure everyone is here and ready to begin on the 13th next week. Now's the time to also let me know about any conflicts you might have.
Looks like only Shaudius didn't check in, though Stiehle didn't dot on their character. I'll send both a prod PM.
If someone hasn't checked in by mid-weekend, I'll set out finding a replacement player.

![]() |

My android technomancer is ready to roll!

![]() |

Woohoo! I'm ready!

GM Cellion |

Whoa, almost everyone is on the ball! This might just be a pretty zippy group.

Infamous Green Sniper I'd say. Get outta here Mustachio, this game's full up.
(Though seriously thanks for the kind words guys, I'm all embarrassed here)

Just a heads-up that I'll be on a week-long vacation beginning tonight. I'm hoping to keep up with my player posts using my smartphone though, so it shouldn't be much of an issue, except that I doubt I'll be posting more than once a day or so.

![]() |

Hello! Hopefully we all survived THE GAP and hopefully the site will stay up.
I'm at a convention today but look forward to jumping back in tomorrow.

![]() |

Added my stats, sorry, was in the process of doing it during one of the many site outages and I guess I never got back around to actually finishing and updating.

![]() |

I am heading out to a convention early tomorrow afternoon. I will be returning Monday. I expect to be able to get in a few short posts until then, but if not, feel free to bot me.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

![]() |

I had a thought. I would love to play Lightfoot at the con where these quests are being offered tomorrow.
Is it possible to take a chronicle for Lightfoot for the first quest, then have him complete the others are the con (and go on to play another scenario afterward)?
And could I then have another PC of mine play the first quest at the con and complete the others with this group starting tomorrow evening?

GM Cellion |

Thanks for the heads up Lightfoot. As far as switching out a character between quests is concerned, I think that should be fine (though I'll need to work out how to report it correctly!). Enjoy the con!

Wow, it seems I keep learning rules that I'd never known everytime I play one of these Starfinder games!
Just so I have this straight...
The Pegasus has the following modifiers:
+1 to any two checks per round,
+2 Computers
+1 Piloting
So. Does this mean then that every time a Piloting check is made, the pilot gets a +1 added to the roll, even if he doesn't use one of the floating bonuses? Does this apply to 'stunts' as well as initiative?
And every time a science officer or engineer makes a Computers check, they get a +2 to the roll, again without using any of the +1 floating modifiers? Or is this +2 only with regard to the Computers check rolled by the Science Officer when using the sensors?

GM Cellion |

So. Does this mean then that every time a Piloting check is made, the pilot gets a +1 added to the roll, even if he doesn't use one of the floating bonuses? Does this apply to 'stunts' as well as initiative?
Yep, you've got it right. Keep in mind that the extra +1s from the starship's duonode computer stack with everything else.
And every time a science officer or engineer makes a Computers check, they get a +2 to the roll, again without using any of the +1 floating modifiers? Or is this +2 only with regard to the Computers check rolled by the Science Officer when using the sensors?
Computers checks get a +2, and up until now, I've been applying that to all computers checks. But now that I look at it, the bonus is provided by the installed sensors, so it seems like it should only benefit checks that use the sensors. Hm! That's new to me.

![]() |

Yeah, I saw the same thing with regard to sensors - but strangely there's not any sort of definitive explanation in the book. Not that I saw, anyway. And a quick look on the Paizo boards last night didn't help me either - though admittedly I was kinda tired and didn't do a real thorough search of the forums.

Here is my understanding of balancing shields, based on a discussion topic in the Paizo thread:
Clarification on Starship Shields in Combat
So long as you have at least 10% of your total shield points in any given quadrant, you can balance shield points in any manner you choose. So for instance in the last round, I bumped up the shield points to the front quadrant facing the enemy (and wound up being a good thing!) and depleted those in the rear quadrant, which didn't go below 10% of our total (which is 40), as the minimum allowed is 4.
However, now that we have taken shield damage (if it didn't get fixed), our new total was 25, so the minimum I could have put into any quadrant is now 2 (rounded down from 2.5). After fixing the shields though, our new total stands at 32, so we must have a minimum of 3 points in any shield.
As mentioned, because we took damage, I am going to Divert Power to the shields this round (5% of 150 is 7.5, rounded down to 7), and will distribute 5 points to the forward shield and 2 points to the starboard, recommending we face that quadrant to the enemy this round, since we have won initiative and can manuever ourselves as we like. I want to keep a minimum of 5 points even to our week sides, in case the bad guys outmaneuver us next round and wind up on a weak shield side.
Do let me know if I'm mistaken in any of this though, as I'm definitely still learning and I haven't played a ton of Starfinder yet.

![]() |

To be honest I never thought that you could go above it's starting value..but I can't find a rule that you can't.
Best I can find is that you can't distribute your total amount of shields to any quadrant without all quadrants having at least 10% of the total
So if we started with say 10/10/10/10 ..that's a total of 40..which as far as I can tell means we could go 4/4/4/28 if we wanted.
I never knew that..but handy to know.

![]() |

That's exactly my understanding of the whole Balancing Shields, Savoy. Quite handy if you know which quadrant is facing the enemy! Only problem is if you get outflanked, so putting minimum in other shields is risky - especially when you're dealing with more than one enemy ship.

![]() |

GM, can you give me an estimate of how many more days this adventure might last? I've got Antares signed up for a Session 2 adventure, though if need be I can create a new character for that one. But I'd rather bring Antares, if you think it might wrap up in another five or six days.

GM Cellion |

We're now starting the last of the four quests. This one is a little shorter than the rest, but based on the pace up to now, that still means maybe 2 weeks.
If we're very active (especially over this weekend), we might be able to finish in a week.
EDIT: If everyone wants to do a quick burn through the final quest, I'm more than happy to oblige. But be ready to ratchet up the posting speed :>

Feel free to bot Master Filament anytime for faster pace. I've played this before and will still be out of town over weekend. Will post when I can, but please bot me whenever.
Skills are under profile spoiler, though unfortunately I see I didn't leave cut-and-paste attack info.
Filament activates solar armor as move action.
Moves up to enemy and attacks with pike at reach.
Then, tries to say something clever or wise.

![]() |

I should be able to keep up, but I'm also fine with being botted!

![]() |

Thanks! I apologize for missing that first set of rolls, had a busy start to the weekend and didn't get a chance to check the boards. Thanks for botting me. :)

GM Cellion |

Oh wow, I didn't realize Master Filament didn't have armor! Then yes, you had access to space suits back on the Loreseeker, and you were able to wear one.
I'm also wondering if there's a specific reason why you're running sans armor. Is it a RP/character design thing, or is this a rough patch for a particularly unusual build?

GM Cellion |

Hmm, totally forgot this earlier, but now that we're close to the end, how about we do our Boon Rolls?
As usual, roll yourself a d20 here in discussion. If you get a 19 or 20, congratulations, you've got yourself a gameday boon! Roll a 1d2 to find out which one is yours to take home :>
Boon Boon dynamite: 1d20 ⇒ 8 And none for me this time.

![]() |

Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 18 So close!

GM Cellion |

As for how I did the "whispering" bit in the earlier post? Its one of my favorite eldritch horror gimmicks: Zalgo text!
I also used unicode spacing characters to get more blank space and noise into the resultant text. Paizo's forums love to delete blank spaces from your posts, but they don't delete some of the more esoteric unicode spacing characters, like: " " You can do some nifty formatting things that people don't expect.

![]() |

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Thanks again for accelerating the pace, GM Cellion. And to everyone else for going along with it! :)
