Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Sorry for the delay folks, RL stuff and a vacation has kept me busy and sorta off-balance the last couple weeks. I'm going to try hard to get a post up before the end of this weekend.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Still around, and will post to this adventure just as soon as I can!

FM Human? Druid 5/ Master of Many Forms 3

hows everyone doing

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Sorry, keep meaning to post to this one! My other adventures seem to have stalled out a bit (no player input) and I've let it carry over into this one. I'm going to try and get a post up this weekend!

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Ugh! OK... I'm going to try and get one up BEFORE this weekend? I hope!!

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Finally posted to the adventure and as I mentioned there, I'm still trying to find that perfect balance between gaming and RL. Hope you all stay patient with me!

Addiz, welcome to the game! I've decided to just write out Svaerd, as trying to come up with a reason for him to wander away seems unlikely. Let's just figure something came up and he had to leave, or he was never there to begin with. I'm keeping Sol with you for now, because he's a healer and also because I'm hopeful the player will return!

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Hey-ho, hey-ho.

So West, we going with the 'he was always there' angle?

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Yes indeed, Jamarkis! Feel free to chime in at any time! I'm sure Phaligast will happy to have a bodyguard... err... boon companion again!! :)

On sadder news, Sol's player confirmed he will not be with us. So actually I'm going to have Jamarkis replace Sol. I'll recruit another heavy-hitter to replace Svaerd.

||Skills:Bluff+16/Disable Device+12/Hide:+23/Move Silent:+18/Open Lock:+15/Search:+12/Spot:+12/Tumble:+11/UMD:+11

OK. So just ignore the didn't know that person posts!

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Hey West, in the initiative count do you mean Jamarkis instead of Sol?

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Jamarkis, I'm so sorry I totally forgot you'd joined us! My old age is catching up with me... Yes, take Sol's place in the initiative order.

Do me a favor and give yourself a picture so I see you posts easier. Let me know if you have trouble doing that and I'll walk you through the process. :)

Since we have Jamarkis with us, I'll write out Sol immediately.

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Give me a day or two for the avatar, though I'll do a post tomorrow at the latest. Summer has different issues here than it does elsewhere in the world - mainly it gets horrifyingly hot.

Assume I'm fully memorised for spells, with the default one listed on my sheet at D20 Greyhawk?

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Jamarkis, you've got all your spells as noted on your d20 WoG character sheet - which are the ones I link to in my GM posts by the way.

I've PM'd Loren and hope to hear from that player by tomorrow, and I'll plan to post this round either tomorrow evening or Saturday at the latest.

As I effectively 'replaced' Sol with Jamarkis, I'm doing the same by replacing Svaerd with our newest player, Ayla Noya Valerius.

Thank you for allowing me to join.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Welcome to the adventure! It was sort of slogging along for a bit, partly because my RL schedule got busy but also because I find myself without much spirit to post when there isn't much activity. Now that we're back up to six active players I'm hoping we start moving along at a good pace again!

FM Human? Druid 5/ Master of Many Forms 3

going to post tonight been busy with work and school

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

West, updated via reply on D20 forums. Is there another way you'd prefer updating of sheets now we're pretty much just running games from here?

I'll miss though, as my BAB isn't going up, and I didn't improve strength.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Your BAB should go up with 8th level, from +5 to +6/+1! So don't forget that second attack as well - unless I'm missing something? And I did figure you'd take WIS over STR, so it was a long shot to connect on that hit. Too bad you didn't have flanking or something!

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Except I've taken a prestige class, with no BAB increase at first level.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Oh aha! I haven't actually taken a look yet, I just presumed cleric level. Yep, no effect then. :(

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

I'd like to wait to see how the monster goes first, West. Given what it did to Maximus, would like to see how far we want to escalate in regards to spells and/or healing.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

That works fine Jamarkis, you're at the top of the order only because I wasn't sure how to resolve your smite attack - but it did miss so your next action comes at the top of the next round, after the monster as you said.

I'm going to wait a bit and see if Phaligast posts. I dislike NPCing wizards because I'm concerned that I'd either waste a spell the player would rather hold on to, or that I'm hurting the party by having the wizard hold onto a powerful spell. What I might do is have somebody take a look at Phaligast and make the decision for me by posting his action on his behalf. In fact, I like that idea a lot, come to think of it...

Anybody want to volunteer? If the player pops in and posts I'll go with that obviously, but otherwise I'll go with whoever posts his action on his behalf. That'd be helping me a lot, so don't be shy!

One of the reasons I play sorcerers over wizards, more spells per day and less worry about which spell to use in a day,
and easier for a GM to BOT if needed.

Could ask the player to makes a decision tree/script-like spoiler for their character.
Though it'll also likly require a form of threat metric system for some decisions.

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Happy to do it this time, will do it tomorrow, but rather than the kind of sophistication suggested by Ayla, ask him to appoint someone to NPC him in these circumstances. That way he can choose someone who he thinks plays wizards well.

You could do that for other people who play classes you think could be tricky to NPC due to their choices available - wizards, sorcerers, druids and possibly clerics. Clerics may be not as at the worst you can just have them heal someone; but during combat they would usually be better to do something that would hurt the monsters.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Thanks Jamarkis! If you post today sometime I'll likely put up the next round of combat soon afterward.:)

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

I'm not the best player of mages, I can think of about 4 people off the top of my head who are better, but I would go with magic missile, at least until we get a better idea of how tough the monster is.

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

West; wasn't sure if he counted as level 8, or if that will only kick in after he's rested, so the skill check and curing is as of level 7.

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

... because I feel this may be crucial, can I roll my level 8 hit points now? Really wish I'd levelled up way back when.

You just joined, so I'm considering you Level 8 right off the bat, with your full complement of spells.

Please do so!

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

hit points: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

... stock average.

I'll get my full spell list up in the next week or so.

FM Human? Druid 5/ Master of Many Forms 3

sorry guys ended up with a bad case of bronchitis so i have been sleeping a lot.will try to post soon.

That sucks, I pray you get better before the Family Christmas Dinner.

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

I'll try to get a post up this weekend. Work has just gotten insane, and getting close to Christmas as well.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Hope you feel better soon, Loren! No worries Jamarkis, the holidays are always a bit tricky for pbp gaming. I've got stuff going on as well. Hoping to post to all my adventures in the next couple of days, and then it might be tough for the rest of December given my travel plans.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

I'm sorry folks, it's very unlikely I'll be able to post until after New Year's. I've had some personal stuff happening over the past week or so, and I'm traveling starting tomorrow - oh yeah, and then it's Christmas and New Years!

Happy Holidays everyone, we'll get back on track after January 1st 2020!

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Jamarkis, I've adjusted your CS to 8th level. Feel free to roll your HP on the Paizo board. Your spells/day should be correct - note that your WIS now gives a bonus 3rd level spell.  Here is the chart for your default list:

0 Level Spells: 6x per day
1st Level Spells: 4x per day + 1 bonus spell (WIS) + 1 Domain spell
2nd Level Spells: 3x per day + 1 bonus spell (WIS) + 1 Domain spell
3rd Level Spells: 3x per day + 1 bonus spell (WIS) + 1 Domain spell
4th Level Spells: 2x per day + 1 Domain spell

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Rolled up on the thread - rolled 4, goes to 5 due to Con.

Jamarkis would also like to try to identify the ring - spellcraft +6.

Will redo a spell list tomorrow of new default spells, and post it here.

What does Jamarkis know about the holy day? He has a decent know: religion from memory.

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

List of memorised spells, after we rest. Assume any that aren't on the list at the moment have been burned for healing.

0: Detect Poison, Virtue, Guidance, Read Magic, Resistance, Purify Food and Drink
1: Bless, Shield of Faith, Entropic Shield, Divine Favor, Protection from Evil, Domain: Enlarge Person
2: Lesser Restoration, Shield Other, Sound Burst, Spiritual Weapon, Domain: Bull's Strength
3: Searing Light, Prayer, Dispel Magic, Invisibility Purge Domain: Contagion
4: Divine Power, Death Ward. Domain:Spell Immunity

Will post tomorrow. Very hot

FM Human? Druid 5/ Master of Many Forms 3

Loren will prepare lesser restoration with all her 2nd level slots

||Skills:Bluff+16/Disable Device+12/Hide:+23/Move Silent:+18/Open Lock:+15/Search:+12/Spot:+12/Tumble:+11/UMD:+11

Hide: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43
Move Silent: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
Spot: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

The reason I prefer the Patherfinder stealth and perception rolls, rather than Hide/Move Silent and Spot/Search. With the numbers above I: (Hide) Practically turned invisible, then (Move Silent) scuffed my feet along the floor and (Spot) distracted myself with the sounds that I made!

Had I been searching for tracks.... Search: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 I would have only noticed them if they were big tracks in soft mud and I tripped into them!

Where's the laughing emoji when you want it!?!

I agree the PF skills are better in that it removes needing to invest into multiple skills for one task and still risk failure.
That and it frees up extra skill points for other useful skills and removed the really annoying half-ranks for non-class skills.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Agreed! For that reason, let's only roll Hide when you're trying to be stealthy. I'm going to just say that's the entire package. Move Silently will only come into play in unusual circumstances. Same with Spot, which in my opinion covers pretty much everything when you're moving. If you see something unusual, I might have you roll Search to learn more about it - or if you're trying to figure out how to disarm a trap, for instance. How does that sound? It's probably not a perfect answer, but it'll help in most circumstances I think.

||Skills:Bluff+16/Disable Device+12/Hide:+23/Move Silent:+18/Open Lock:+15/Search:+12/Spot:+12/Tumble:+11/UMD:+11

Sounds good. Search was described like when you are carefully searching for something, like traps. Spot was more for to see if you noticed something either while moving or scanning a broad area.
Thanks!

Ran into an interesting Youtube vid of how silver weapons could work in a fantasy world in that they hurt monsters more then a steel version.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

I'm still keeping an eye on this thread, and the slow pace has actually worked OK for me since my work schedule has been busy as hell. Hoping things clear up for me in mid-February so that I'm back to my usual pace by then. Let's aim to have a plan for your characters by then at latest and we'll get this adventure underway again. Either with a combat with the trolls or going the long way around.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

My apologies for the delay in posting folks, my busy work schedule and getting ready for a move is hammering my creative mind into mush. I'll post when I can, but probably for the next four weeks or so I'm going to be a bit unreliable in that area. Bear with me and I'll get back into the swing of things after the April 15th deadline for sure and hopefully before then, once I'm settled into my new place. Thanks for understanding!!

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

Yay, looks like everyone has posted! No worries Phaligast, I've been busy myself of late. Think I've turned the corner now though, and this is my next adventure on the list to work up a post for. Hopefully I'll be back to my usual schedule of posting at least every four or five days after this terrible delay!

M Human (Flan) Cleric 7

Sorry for no post lately. Been very busy with work, and then transitioning into working from home.

Male Human (Aren't we all? Folks need to remember that!) Epic Level GM (35+ years!)

No worries at all Jamarkis! RL world has gone nuts and dealing with that takes priority over all! When you want to escape into the game though, we'll be here! :)
