Game Master CaptainMarvelous

For ten years I have been polishing this sword;
Its frosty edge has never been put to the test.
Now I am holding it and showing it to you, sir:
Is there anyone suffering from injustice?

So basically we need to pick a weapon group for the second forms?

sword, sabers, maces, knives, spears, unarmed, Qi, ranged?

Maybe pick a couple and rank them. You should see how many you can learn in the short amount of time you have. Or think of another plan.

IF anyone is waiting for something specific say what that is here so we're all on the same page.

Ive just been waiting for time to post! Long holiday weekend with lots of family time. Look for something substantial tomorrow.

Oh yeah! American Holiday. I live in DAS FADERLAND Canada, so I'm only peripherally aware of your weird late thanksgiving and your civic holidays not celebrating long dead monarchs from other countries.

I hear you Captain. Yesterday we celebrated Memorial Day, honoring the fallen military personel from our many wars.

If this helps, taking two more levels of Shaolin would net you:

2d10 hit points
+2 BAB
+1 AC Bonus
+1 to all saves
8 skill points total (2 bursts of 2 + Int (2))
One Bonus Feat
and increase your Qinggong by 1 (to 3)

Plus the feat and attribute increase you'd normally get for hitting 11th and 12th level, respectively.

Morning everyone and happy late Memorial Day. I just got back, and I've leveled up Yong. I only need to roll my hp, and I need to find out if my unarmed strike damage goes up even further, as it is already at 2d6.

Level 11: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Level 12: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

That kind of sounds like Remembrance Day, although, not to stereotype or anything, but I sincerely doubt Memorial Day has quite the anti-war "never again" tone of Remembrance Day.

We wear poppies over our hearts for like 11 days leading up to it and then force school children to learn about the horrors of World War I. Then there's usually a moment of silence with the general vibe of a funeral near some kind of war memorial.

Edit:

Oh, right, the game. It doesn't hit 2d6 until level 12 so I don't know where you're getting your information, unless you have a feat. In any event, your unmodified unarmed damage from your class is now 2d6.

I've been out of it for a while so getting back into posting may be slightly awkward but I will do my best.

Is the First Sword of Dugu art considered a style? Meaning we cant use it in conjunction with our other styles.

Yep. It's a transitional style for the other style, but it's still a style itself.

I'll get the character sheet fixed tomorrow. For now, gaining two levels in Wudang: +4 skill points, +2 BAB, +1 Fort, +2 Ref, +1 Will, 5th level Neijing (Change Form, Exchange Place), 6th +1 Qingong (now Qingong 3), +2d10

hp: 2d10 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10

Total hit points now 66. Not bad, but...one or two good hits and I'll be down for the count.

Would we know if Big & Little Divine Blade will be sympathetic to the deposed Emperor's plight? Or would we know to keep our mouths shut about him here?

You just became involved in this particular political conspiracy recently, so you don't know whose sympathies are what. You can take a risk, but the Kunlun aren't exactly known for being idealistic dreamers who fight for lost causes.

I keep expecting to hear this line from 'Shaolin vs Wutang'

"Shaolin shadowboxing and the Wu-Tang sword style. If what you say is true, the Shaolin and the Wu-Tang could be dangerous. Do you think your Wu-Tang sword can defeat me?"
"En garde, I'll let you try my Wu-Tang style."

For those who don't know: Wudang and Wutang are different romanizations of the same word.

Yay, we're at the part where stuff happens again! The greatest weakness of PBP is that awkward moment just after the latest thing has been accomplished.

Edit: And don't be so hesitant to speak Flying Sword; you're not the "new guy" anymore, nobody is going to be upset if you take the reigns now and then.

Edit Edit: The second generation on the Kunlun Shifu tree is now complete. There are other people on the lower generation, but everyone trained by Sun Wuji personally is now on the list.

Edit Edit Edit: That you know of. I'll bet the Kunlun don't think there's a secret member of the Beggar's sect second generation who is the strongest of them all and also the Xing heir. So you never know.

Is Flying Sword still carrying the book? Who has it?

I only bring this up because originally Flying Sword was going to be written out around here, but Stiehl9 is going to keep playing him so we're not doing that anymore. So in pms I was making a big deal of trying to get Flying Sword to pass off the manual to someone else so that he didn't have it on him when he left... and as a result I have no idea who has it or where it is. I guess Flying Sword might as well keep being the book-bearer but what's really important is: do one of you have it, or does the Emperor or Ming Yue have it?

Neither has asked for it yet, they have bigger fish to fry, but there's always been the implication that they will and if you offer it to either of them they'll take it (I assume you won't, but it never goes well for me when I assume you guys will or will not do something. I thought the opening scene of this game was going to be a fight.)

Yeah any time you guys are trying to be respectful I just assume it all gets translated into correct forms of address and what not. I'm not trying to have you guys undertake a research project.

Male Human Wudang 12 HP: 110/110 | AC: 25, T: 20, FF: 21, CMD 31 | Qi: 9/9 | Fort: +7, Ref: +9, Will: +11

Thanks for the vote of confidence Captain. I wasn't holding back more just formulating thought. Seems like a place where saying something in haste will be detriment to our intentions.

As for the book, Chu last had it. I don't know if Wu-Yao got to look at it yet or if that was glossed over. Either way Flying Sword has no problem holding on to it. And wouldn't be so prone to just hand it over to the Emperor or Ming Yue as he truly believes it was their reward for rescuing him. But Im guessing that will come up in play now ^_^.

If you guys want to get fancy and stick to true form, I have no problems answering questions with what little I know of custom and/or Chinese terminology. I posted some forms of address a couple pages back and know a little of a couple of other customs between student and master. There is one custom that we could do before leaving Mount Kunlun but it mostly relies on money and Im not sure how much cash we're holding. Although a larger amount isn't nearly as important as the actual digits of the amounts.

Im game for just making it all up as we go too.

edit - I named Sun Wuji a Sukong (grandmaster) as I don't see any great students underneath him. Oversight?

Didn't seem worth turning the whole game upside down over a typo :P

Also: I must have missed Flying Sword's gameplay post, sorry about that.

Edit: I must have pulled it up and closed the window without reading it, because I checked a billion times for a "new post" dilly.

Doesn't look like this guy is going to help us and his last statement was as close to an insult as he could get. Anyone have any diplomacy prowess? Because Flying Sword is about to tell him to shove it, as nicely as he can anyways.

He's going to help you, he just wants you to show humility first because he knows he has a superior position and is a dick.

Thats about as diplomatic as that guy gets.

M Human Shaolin 12 | AC 24 | HP 84 | F +5, R +10, W +11

I can make funny faces, if that will help.

It'd be a good idea to come up with one. An alias, that is. Nobody has asked anything yet, but the healers will likely want to know what happened. You should coordinate your stories.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
M Human Shaolin 12 | AC 24 | HP 84 | F +5, R +10, W +11

How about Stan Lee? o_O

Now imagine Christopher Walken saying it...

...or maybe just Jet Li...just sayin'

If Stan Lee was in this movie, he would be playing Mr. Hu's wife.

M Human Shaolin 12 | AC 24 | HP 84 | F +5, R +10, W +11

That would explain the cameo...:p

That was some the-day-saving level shit right there Zhang Yong. You guys do not want the Kunlun hearing about that conversation.

Edit: You guys would make good adventurers; you thwart my every attempt to set you up.

In case I was unclear: it's a melee attack roll to punch the guy through the wall, at -4 because it's through a wall. You could also grapple them through the wall, same deal.

Li's nice and generic. Mr. Li. We didn't ask his first name and he lacks a tongue.

Edit: Ming Yue was only ever supposed to be in that one scene, but she's rapidly becoming my favorite NPC.

I was thinking about asking the same thing.

Quote:

It's not really a fair question, since the Kunlun are always up to something, but he has a point. The Wudang and the Kunlun are rivals and it really is generally acknowledged within the Wulin that the Wudang are the superior healers, so without the context of the fact that you don't want to travel with a weakened rebel emperor it's hard to understand why you'd come to Mount Kunlun. Especially since you probably could have guessed that Sun Wuji would be a horses ass about it (even if there was almost no chance he'd turn you away).

The Wudang wouldn't have spied on guests, though. They'd probably insist on escorts but they wouldn't hide.

I actually play Go semi-seriously. I have a set of stone stones.

looks like he's abandoned us. I got a PM from him a week or so ago saying he was under the weather but no word since.

I'm really sorry everyone. I've been putting off posting this because I really didn't want to let this game die but I just can't give it the attention it needs at this point in my life. I kept telling myself I was going to get it back on track but it's becoming obvious that's not going to happen. I haven't been fair to all of you and for that I apologize. You've been really great players and I should have owned up to my inability to run the game sooner.

Again, I'm sorry.

Just shoot us a PM if you ever want to run this again. I'll be on board. Its a great concept and colorful world.

See you all around the boards.
