Yong comes from a long line of merchant traders from the desert steppes, who have plied their trade along the Silk Road since before rockets were first invented. His family's fortunes have waxed and waned over the centuries, but they have always been prosperous enough. That being said, more than a couple of the Zhang clan left the trades to try their hand at adventuring, which Yong is but the latest in this endeavor.
Yong traveled into the interior of the countryside, but after about a year, felt lost and with no direction to go to. That is when he discovered the monastery of the Shaolin, led by the enigmatic Heaven Shaking Iron Palm. Even now in the Empire, the art of Shaolin is considered a rare form of martial arts, and many opinions have formed as to its place in the world.
Yong took to the training as a newborn to breathing. Zhang spent three years in training and, upon his acceptance as having learned all he could from Iron Palm, received a special set of Monk's Robes from the Grandmaster himelf. He has wandered the countryside as a Shaolin for nearly a decade now, righting wrongs as best he could. He is looking forward to meeting this demon again.
With him are his companions Flying Sword, Sihu-he, and Wu-Yao. Zhang respects the Wudang form of Martial Arts, but could never see himself as practicing anything so 'wild.' As for Sihu-he, he does not understand how grappling a demon can vanquish it for all time, but the demon wrestler's personality, as strange as his Martial Style is, is fascinating to witness.
