Please deal nonlethal damage against the "minions." The chieftan and the wisp are the real threat. I suspect the tribe itself has simply been lead astray.
Why does [ Elhedril ] have so little hp? Is her con negative or something? Has she not leveled up?
She's listed as a level 5 sorcerer with 12 Constitution. Since you have everyone use static hit points per level, she is stuck with 5 HP per level after first, or 27 at 5th-level.
If she levels up, she would have 32 hp (or 11 left after the attack, still low enough that she could be easily killed in the next round).
Your NPC chieftan could easily kill one PC each round without the need for much luck.

Hey guys I am so very sorry I have not been on much over the past month or so now. Things have been a bit hectic here between being sick (in and out of doctors and hospitals multiple times now) to trying to find a new job and planning a wedding. I have not been online much at all. The other night was my first time on in about 2 months for my computer and I used to be on it every single day.
I could use some brief catching up cause I am lost as a jaybird right now as to what is going on.

They beat a coven of hags that had a bunch of undead troll. Riva took the trolls over. The hags had alot of loot much of it in drugs.
Then they went to a lizard folk village and claimed to be messagers from their divine ancestors. However their happened to already be a wisp in the village pulling the same scam and got the village to attack them. They managed to beat the villagers and get the wisp to retreat and that is where we are right now.
Did I miss anything important?

If I'm not mistaken, Riva has so far cast blindness/deafness, chastise, comprehend languages (2, on Mal and Toran), false life, fly (on Toran), heroism (whose bonuses I've apparently been forgetting), mage armor, protection from arrows, raiment of command, see invisibility, summon monster III, and suggestion. Additionally, I had to burn a 1st-level spell slot for that last AR point.
.
.
.
That leaves me with the following:
0- 3rd-level spell slots
2- 2nd-level spell slots
2- 1st-level spell slots
---------------------------------
0 - Arcane reservoir points
And that's just for this encounter!
| Ravingdork |
Wait a minute comprehend languages only lets you understand not speak. Been doing this wrong.
Has anyone besides Riva even spoken directly the lizardfolk? Riva doesn't even need the spell for herself since she can speak and understand Draconic just fine. The spell was more for her companions, so they can follow what's going on.
EDIT: Ah, I see that Toran started addressing the chieftain directly.

What's hilarious is that he'd notice immediately if she unstrung his bow no matter what she did. A strung bow is an already half coiled spring and depending on the strength would snap back into shape pretty hard. That is assuming Riva has the strength to do it and not break her hand.
Even a 44lb. bow takes a bit of effort to do right.
Anyway, it's also kind of unnecessary as Toran is more than capable of taking the guy.
| Ravingdork |
Tark, unstringing a bow carefully and quietly isn't so hard, though it would probably require a check. If done right there wouldn't be any spring back worth noticing. However, that likely requires two hands, so with Riva attempting it with only one, your assertion that she never would have succeeded is probably pretty accurate.
Where did you get the DC 10 from?
From the fact that you can't even attempt a Sleight of Hand check with a DC higher than 10 untrained, yet you were telling me to make one anyways, so I assumed the DC was 10.

Well, can't claim it without a higher agreement, or a fight.
We're in I33, correct? Let's head down to J34 so we know what's bordering our western borders. Then we can cut across to investigate the troll fort.
There is always somebody on watch. That's why I bring a retinue of NPC servants/guards wherever we go. Can't be too careful as an adventuring ruler, and every set of eyes helps. Having them keep an eye on the horses and carry all the miscellaneous supplies is a nice bonus too.
Riva will take mid-shift since she has the highest Perception. I feel things are less likely to occur in the early evening or pre-dawn.

I understand giving us Leadership next level in order to codify it a little bit, but surely as leaders, there are people who will do what we tell them right now, yes?
Otherwise, what are we leaders of exactly?
In any case, I've been minimizing their presence, making them little more than background flavor 'cause I figured you'd have a problem with the possibility of us having NPCs doing the adventuring for us (which is not my intent). I'm just trying to make it seem a little bit more cohesive/immersive.
I imagine most officials wouldn't just allow their leaders to go running off into the wild to get killed. It would most likely be an organized expedition or something.
EDIT: Also, they're not "just" showing up. I've mentioned them like six times before both during and before the expedition start.
If you don't want them there, then they aren't there, but I don't think it makes much sense for it to just be us. Both our characters and the people we serve are smarter than that.

Riva recalls a passage from an ancient tome.
The Hydra heroes defied,
Its nine diminished heads must hide
Before the baneful modern beast
Who has a thousand heads at least.
See how in horrid tiers they rise,
With straining ears and bulging eyes,
While, blinded by fierce calcium rays,
The trembling victim tribute pays
Of song or measure, mime or jest,
To soothe the savage Hydra's breast.
If she please not the monster's whim,
Wild scribes will tear her limb from limb;
Even if charmed, he rend the air
With hideous joy, let her beware;
For she must surely, soon or late,
Fall 'neath the hissing Hydra's hate."It's a hydra! An incredibly fierce beast, perhaps too fierce for us, but dumb and slow too! Watch out for its heads! Every one you take, two shall replicate! Fight or flight! I doubt we'll get a chance for both!"
Nice! Take 100 free xp. The others can make it up with downtime. Or maybe they will do some roleplay xp too before we get back.

I've already made the new map, but I'm having trouble getting it onto OneDrive for some reason. Here's a temporary link from imgur. It shows the party, the hydra, and a campfire and its light radius.
EDIT: Found some inconsistencies in the light radius. Also removed the PC/NPC pieces. [New link]

The good news I's I've got a bit more hp to go for a bit.
The bad news is the axe is a traitor. As we foresaw.

Sooooo it's like this.
If no one has a way to heal Mall for 2hp in the next 8 or so rounds Mall is dead.
I saw some alchemist fires and acid flasks in Mal and Toran's equipment lists. Perhaps we could cauterize the wounds to keep you from bleeding out?
