And just to get Nevinia posting earlier...

Nevinia wakes up to the sound of yelling and the clanging of steel on steel. Her head is pounding. She can remember is leaving Heldren to follow Arkady, and getting lost in the unseasonal snow in the woods. Then a cold sensation, and then nothing.

She realized her hands are bound, so she opens her eyes. She is inside a dome made of snow and ice, with a door cut in one side showing blowing snow outside, and a smaller hole cut in the roof, presumably to allow smoke from a fire to ventilate outside. She can see her gear stacked neatly along the far wall, along with other assorted vials, tools and supplies.

A roaring comes form outside, and Nevinia tries to sit up, but she finds her ankles bound as well, which makes the exercise much more trying that it normally would be. Her mouth is not gagged, though, and she briefly considers whether the noises outside are coming from friends or foes.

Sorry, in my last post I meant to say that the elemental and giant delay their round 5 actions. Arkady, Cervin and Yagello can now take their round 5 actions.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" shrieks Cervin. Ignoring the tiny thing flinging stones at him, he turns northwards.

"Daegan, get Igmar back up if you can. Friends, we will win this day! Erastil is with us, and he guides my arrows!"

Nevinia groans as she tries to maneuver herself around the igloo. She notices her items by the wall... but that could only be a portion of everything, there's her wagon, her oxen... Tzerny!

"Tzerny? Are you there? What happened?"

Nevinia crawls toward her gear, wondering where her iron knife is. If she could just get herself free...

Outside, Cervin hits the creature cleanly, and it roars in anger. The monster eyes Cervin, but with Yagello in the way, the troll takes a massive spear in one hand, thrusting it towards the ranger in his way.

Attack #1 (spear): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Frustrated as the spear is deflected by Yagello's armor, the beast lunges and tries to bite him.

Attack #2 (bite): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3

Not for the first time, Yagello silently thanks his breastplate for saving him from harm once again.

To the south, the elemental flies in again, this time attacking Daegan before he can heal Igmar.

Elemental slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Daegan avoids the creature, and takes a retaliatory swing before thing hides in the snow again.

Daegan's AoO: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

The elemental, giant and Cervin have taken their round 5 actions. Arkady and Yagello can still take their round 5 actions.

At the sound of it's name, Tzerny wakes up. It appears to be tied up in some way, and cannot move even a beak to speak out.

Tzerny is currently bound (including beak) and is in a cage piled with some of the equipment in the igloo.

Male Human (Varisian) Rogue 1/Wizard 1 Status: AC 11, 7/13 hit points

Surrounded by various beasts and lacking any significant ability to hit the enemy in the blinding snow, Arkady mutters a prayer to Desna and touches Yagello on the shoulder. "Luck of the Lady be with you, my friend."

Standard action to use Diviner's Fortune on Yagello. +1 to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round.

Male Human (Taldan) Ranger 2 (Skirmisher) HP 14/22 AC 20

The normally courageous Yagello breaks into a cold sweat at the sight of the moss-colored giant. He feels the perspiration dripping down his back before snapping out of his doldrums as the creature's spear clangs off his breastplate.

Focus! Your friends need you now more than ever!

Swallowing hard, he cautiously approaches the giant humanoid trying to support Cervin's ranged attacks.

5-foot step to X-10
Standard action to attack the giant troll

Power Attack - Elven Curve Blade: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 2 + 1 = 14

Female Half-Elf Witch 1 (HP 15/15, AC 11/ff10/t11, CMD 12, F+2 R+1 W+4, Init +1, Per +5)

"Oh no! Tzerny!"

Nevinia scoots over to the cage and tries to open it.

The giant creature is surprisingly nimble and sidesteps Yagello's swing. Yagello sees that, unlike his boots that are deep in the snow, the creature is somehow able to walk on top of the snow, leaving no footprints behind.

Above, the fey takes what appears to be his last stone and slings it at Cervin.

Sling: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22Sling (magic stone): 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The stone connects again, and Cervin feels the unnatural cold growing from the point of impact in his side.

Cervin takes 5 damage (currently at 9 HP) and must make a DC 13 Fortitude save or be staggered for one round due to the cold.

Arkady and Daegan can take round 6 actions.

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

The sling stone catches Cervin between the eyes, nearly flooring him. He shakes his head rapidly and shouts back at the fey slinging stones at him.

"The only reason I haven't killed you yet is that your friends are better at everything! Now you've irritated me - your mother is going to cry when she sees what I've done to you, you little bastard!"

Free action to bluster.

Arkady sees the small fey hit Cervin with his sling bullet, and replies with a blob of acid. He starts to say something taunting like Cervin, but suddenly begin shuddering with cold again, causing the magical attack to miss completely.

Ranged touch attack, Acid Splash: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Daegan looks once over his shoulder and then grits hit teeth, chanting a prayer while he reaches out to touch Igmar, hoping that the blue-skinned creature will not hit him.

The creature tries to reach out to Daegan, scratching with the claws at the ends of her wings.

Claw AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Cure light wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Waking up with a start, Igmar realizes his poor defensive position, and begins to sing again, holding his weapon ready.

Igmar is awake and at 9 HP. The dwarf uses a standard action to re-start his bardic performance, but chooses to not press his luck and get up.

The giant takes a step backwards into the mist, and stabs at Yagello again.

Giant takes a five-foot step backwards before attacking Yagello. He is now only visible to Yagello, and is considered totally concealed from anymore more than 10 feet away (50% miss chance).

Attack (spear): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Yagello is not as lucky with this thrust, and the spear catches him in the shoulder. He yells as the creature yanks the spear out.

Yagello takes 7 damage and is at 10 HP.

To the south, the blue-skinned creature attempts to hover, and the elemental flies in to stay along side the creature to attack Daegan.

Blue-skinned creature at Y14 attempts to hover and full-attack Daegan. The elemental takes a move action to fly to X14 and attack Daegan.

Claw #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Daegan winces as somewhere above, the incessant laughing of the fey in the air echoes throughout the area despite the blowing snow.

Daegan is now at 14 HP.

The map has been updated. Cervin and Yagello can take round 6 actions.

Nevinia manages to shimmy across the floor to get next to her familiar's cage, but with her hands bound, she find herself helpless.

Nevinia can attempt strength check to break the rope, or an escape artist check to wriggle out of the bindings.

Outside, she hears another roar, and a high-pitched laughing. Outside the door is only blackness, with the blowing snow only lit by the everburning torch from Nevinia's supplies, which is half-covered by other gear in the corner.

Male Human (Taldan) Ranger 2 (Skirmisher) HP 14/22 AC 20

Smarting from his wound, Yagello nevertheless refuses to give up on his quarry. He strides forward, hoping to trap the giant against the clearing's north wall.

Power Attack - Elven Curve Blade: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14

I'm assuming I'm close enough to hear Igmar's singing. If not, please subtract 1 from my attack and damage rolls.

These mediocre attack rolls are wasting all my awesome damage rolls!!!!

Igmar's singing is clearly audible.

Yagello misses the creature, but does force the creature backwards. the rocky wall to the north appears to be forcing the creature to the west.

As he is fighting the creature, Yagello notices the lichens have partially grown over Cervin's arrows, somehow incorporating them into the creature's exterior.

Cervin can still take his round 6 action. After that, it will be the fey and then Arkady, Daegan and Igmar in round 7.

Daegan swings at the elemental before him, trying to finish it off before it flies away again.

Daegan's Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

"Get back, foul creatures!" Daegan moves a bit away from Igmar, trying to distract the creatures.

Daegan takes a standard action to miss the elemental, and five foot step to W13. Igmar takes a move action to try and stand up.

Igmar tries to seize the momentary distraction to standup, but it draws the attention of the creatures before him, who attempt to strike him back down.

Elemental's AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Daegan curses as he sees the blue creature down Igmar again, however he is distracted by the elemental which turns to attack him.

Elemental slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

"Igmar is down again!" Daegan shouts out as he dodges the elemental. "Be careful!"

Igmar is at -3 HP. Daegan was not harmed and is still at 14 HP.

To the north, the giant growls and is driven another step back from Yagello. Cervin's arrows are nearly entirely covered by the fast-moving lichen. The giant takes another stab at Yagello.

Takes five foot step backwards and stabs at Yagello.

Attack (spear): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The flash of the steel tip is the last thing Yagello sees. With the giant out of sight, Cervin just barely sees Yagello slump to the ground out of the corner of his eye. Fearing the worst, Cervin thinks about his next steps.

Yagello is at -1 HP. Yagello will need to make a stabilization check for his round 7 action. Cervin can now take his round 7 action as well. Since Igmar is down as well, his bardic performance is not in effect.

Igmar's round 8 stabilization check (if necessary) (DC 10): 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 3 = 18

Given how lethal this is becoming, and to bring in Nevinia a bit earlier, I'm going to hand wave her escape artist check.

Yagello's stabilize check (DC 10): 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 1 = 3

Boy, the dice roller really has gone cold on me! Yagello falls to -2 hit points.

Daegan shouts back to Cervin. "I can heal everyone, but it will help our enemies as well. I'll try and Igmar back on his feet first!"

Nevinia, without any tools, the deep snow had reduces movement to one quarter, which is one square per move action. I've given you a double move action to S14 for now.

Nevinia makes her way towards the noise, and the first thing she sees is a ferocious looking half-orc, fighting with a being that appears to be made of clouds.

Cervin shoots his arrows in the direction of the creature, preying that they find their mark.

Due to the total concealment, the enemy has a 50% miss chance on Cervin's attacks.

#1 Miss? (50+ means a hit): 1d100 ⇒ 16
#2 Miss? (50+ means a hit): 1d100 ⇒ 46

Cervin squints after his arrows, but does not see where they end up. Cursing at the weather again, he decides whether to get closer.

As if on cue, another eagle materializes out of thin air, and the fey above stops chanting to cackle manically. Cervin doesn't have time to think as he tries to avoid the talons.

Barely standing from the cold, Arkady watches Igmar go down again. As more enemies appear, he relies on the only thing that he can trust in this miserable weather - his luck.

Third use of Diviner's Fortune. Cervin gets +1 attack/save/skill/ability checks for one round. With the fatigue, cold, and bad visibility, even Acid Splash isn't doing me any good, so I just have to hope that giving you a 5% boost is helpful ...

Daegan sees Nevinia approach through the snow. "Look out, we've got another one to deal with!" Seeing Yagello go down, Daegan swings at the bird, trying to move past it. "I'll help Yagello, we need him now!"

Daegan uses a standard action to attack the bird.

Daegan's Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Cursing at the bird, Daegan tries to make his way towards Yagello, one arm raised to prevent any attacks.

Daegan uses a move action to move five feet to X11, provoking an AoO from the bird.

Talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

The bird grabs Yagello, but his armor prevents the half-orc from feeling anything as he moves towards the ranger lying in the snow ahead.

The remaining party members standing wince to anticipate what will happen next and are surprised to see the blue-skinned fey and elemental fly back into the snow to the south. To the north, the giant does not emerge from the mist to assault Daegan. Only the summoned eagle and the tiny fey remain within sight, and the new woman approaching the party from one side.

Cervin is up (round 8). Yagello can make another stabilization check. Nevinia can also act (round 8). The map has been updated.

The raven on her shoulder mutters back, "No, foolish girl, he means you."

Exasperated, she replies, "But I haven't done anything! And if they kidnapped they'd know--they didn't kidnap us." Something seems to light up behind her eyes and her voice grows more sing-songy in that elfin way, "Oh, you didn't kidnap us, my fair rescuers, did you?"

Her eyes dart to the little fey and glaze over frostily. "Hush, my pretty, My rescuers need me," she replies. Pulling out her dagger, the black surface of its cold iron makeup clear in the torchlight, she adds, "Or run. Either way."

Yagello stabilizes at -2 hit points!

Fey's will save vs Slumber hex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

The fey turns to face Nevinia, his giddy laughing stopping for a moment. "Look who has woken up! And free already!" He switches to the glottal language he was using earlier.

Giant:
"Teb! The witch has woken up! We better hurry up here!"

The eagle sees Cervin draw his bow, and tries to scratch at him before he can fire.

Eagle's AoO against Cervin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20Damage (claw): 1d4 ⇒ 2

The eagle scratches Cervin's face, causing one of his arrows to go wide, but the other arrow catches the eagle's wing. The creature screeches in pain, but manages to stay aloft.

Cervin takes 2 damage and the eagle takes 4.

The fey fishes for another stone from his sack, and fires one at Nevinia in retaliation. "Have your fun now, the true witches will make short work of you!"

Sling: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25damage: 1 = 1

Nevinia takes 1 point of damage and must succeed at a DC 13 Fort save or be staggered for one round.

Daegan and Arkady are up (round 9).

Daegan trudges the rest of the way towards Yagello and makes a brief prayer to Gorum as he touches the ranger lying on the ground, expecting the huge beast to come back out of the snow any moment. "Forgive my brevity, my lord, but help us today!"

Daegan takes a move action to move to X10, and a standard action to cast cure light wounds.

Didn't the eagle use its AoO on Daegan? Or was that something else?

Cervin looks over at Nevinia incredulously as she emerges from the snow. He is a young man with shaggy hair and a thin beard with a clear, tenor voice. Currently his face is covered in scratches and he looks haggard and weary.

Yagello awakens with a painful grunt and looks over to see Daegan standing over him once again. Grateful for the half-orc's help, he nonetheless remains focused on battle and quickly scans the current situation.

He doesn't see the giant, so he takes the opportunity to stand back up and ready his defenses.

Arkady - you can see well about 10 feet, and make out some shapes at 15 feet. Some in the party can see her, and Daegan has warned everyone of her presence. Whether you trust Nevinia at this point is up to you!

Cervin - you are correct about the eagle's AoO, that was my mistake. You can go back up 2 HP.

As Yagello braces himself, the giant emerges once more from the snow. Yagello watches as the creature walks on the snow as if it was solid stone, with Cervin's two arrows now completely covered in lichen. The monster ignores Yagello, instead thrusting his spear and Daegan behind him.

Creature moves next to Yagello (eating an AoO from Yagello) and attacks Daegan with his reach.

Elemental moves to X13 and attacks Cervin. Blue-skinned fey moves to Y15 this round.

Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Arkady and Nevinia still have round 9 actions. Yagello can also roll his readied attack against the large foe. The map has been updated.

Shaking off the effects of the stone, she looks around and adds, "Keeping the distance, that's your advantage?" Almost pleadingly, she adds, "Friend! I'm sorry, rescuers," as she reaches down and punches into the snow at her feet.

The snow explodes and billows out, making the cover in the area even worse than before. The newcomer fades from view, as do a number of the attackers.

Casting obscuring mist.

Arkady hears the voice in the distance, and those close to him see a surprised look on his face. "Nevinia? Is that you? How did you get out here?"

As the elemental slams into Cervin, Arkady summons a burst of energy, moving around Igmar and swinging his staff.

Let's push our luck here: Move action with acrobatics to avoid the elemental's AoO and get into flanking position with Cervin at X14. Attack with flanking bonus and with any luck get sneak attack damage from the flank.

Acrobatics (sickened, fatigued): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Attack (sickened, fatigued, flanking): 1d20 - 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) - 3 + 2 = 10 damage (sickened, fatigued, sneak attack): 1d6 - 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) - 3 + (4) = 2

Male Human (Taldan) Ranger 2 (Skirmisher) HP 14/22 AC 20

Yagello senses the time for desperation has come as his friends take damage left and right. Picturing his late mother in his head, he yells at the top of his lungs as he attacks the giant with all of his remaining might!

Power Attack - Elven Curve Blade (AoO): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
If successful, damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Power Attack - Elven Curve Blade (Readied Action): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
If successful, damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Arkady draws the attention of the elemental, even as he misses the being with his staff.

Slam AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Arkady takes 5 damage.

Arkady takes a viscous blow from what feels like a blast of air, but holds his ground to help Cervin.

Meanwhile, the giant pushes aside Yagello's first blow, but the second one cuts into the thick skin, and the giant howls in pain as a thicker mist envelops the area behind Yagello.

Inside the dense fog, Cervin notices the eagle disappear as the fey stops laughing somewhere above, shouting something out incoherent.

Giant:
"Teb! I can't see them anymore! We shouldn't play around any more!"

A gruffer voice speaking the same language comes from the giant.

Giant:
"I can smell them still. We'll stop them. Keep an eye out in case they run away."

Map has been updated. Arkady and Daegan are up first for round 10.

Male Human (Varisian) Rogue 1/Wizard 1 Status: AC 11, 7/13 hit points

Hearing the exchange in the giant tongue, Arkady decides to make use of the sudden fog. After a quick swing at the elemental, he shouts out, "Now, while they can't see! I'll gate in the reinforcements!"

Stepping to one side, he begins chanting loudly.

Bizarre mixture of Varisian and Dwarven:
Nonsense intended to sound like spellcasting.

Attack (sickened, fatigued, flanking): 1d20 - 2 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 - 1 + 2 = 2
20% miss chance, 01-20 fails: 1d100 ⇒ 64
Damage (sickened, fatigued): 1d6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 1 - 2 = 0

Bluff (sickened): 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 2 = 9

Why do I even bother ... *sigh* Maybe I get some bonuses because they can't see and are a bit worried as it is? Maybe?

Don't forget that the tiny fey has a raven on him.

Sorry, the fey does provoke an AoO from Nevinia's familiar.
