Beth Macara
In tandem with Silas, Beth runs up the monster side, drawing her blade and dancing under his arms. Feinting low, she avoids his attention and slashes deeply into his exposed gills.
Move action to reach the were-shark, standard action to attack it.
scimitar attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 = 29, damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 7
Edit crit threat: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 1 = 26, extra damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11
Silas Frey
Silas heads to the other side of the monster keeping low as he does so.
Move to get a flank with Beth, standard action to attack.
Rapier attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (5, 5) = 14
So probably not hitting.
brvheart
Leialoha next, Sandman's actions already stated. And no Silas you did not hit, but Beth confirmed her critical.
Leialoha
Leialoha grumbles, "Next time, wait for me and I'll soften them up for you." Disappointed to not have a chance to unleash Pele's fury on the shark man, Leialoha moves to where he can be within 35 feet of everyone and casts haste on Beth, Silas, Sandman, Obi and Leialoha.
When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)
A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses.
All of the hasted creature's modes of movement (including land movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a maximum of twice the subject's normal speed using that form of movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and it affects the creature's jumping distance as normal for increased speed. Multiple haste effects don't stack. Haste dispels and counters slow.

Grymmer attacks Beth
claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 201d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 201d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
With the haste add to AC all three attacks miss. Wexley is next, then Obi.
Wexley
Wexley produces two pistols seemingly out of nowhere and shifts his angle slightly as he fires two shots.
pistol 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22, damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5
pistol 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7, damage: 1d10 ⇒ 8
He fumbles the second shot which distracts him from utilizing his ammo belt's magic reloading ability.
Beth Macara
With his flamboyant style, Obadiah clicks his heels and cartweels towards the wereshark. Taking his place near Silas, he tries to use the monsters distraction to pierce it with his rapier.
Free action: Activate daredevil boots ,
Move action with acrobatics to avoid AoO acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 5 = 15
Standard action: Attack with combat expertise and flank 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 18, damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Ac=18+2+1=21
Beth Macara
Round 2
Now that she has tested the monster skill and weaknesses, Beth calls to her companions. "His gills are weaker and he cannot see with both his eyes together. Come one it's an easy prey."
Then, concentrating on avoiding the monster's claws, she calls for Quell to protect her.
Move action to use Freebooter's call. Everyone gets +1 weapon attack and damage vs the wereshark.
Standard action: casts shield of faith defensively concentration Check DC17: 1d20 + 5 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 3 + 4 = 28. AC is now 23
brvheart
AOO on Obi claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 191d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Miss, but Obi just hit. Beth I think that is 24 with haste.

Leialoha
Round 2
Leialoha moves closer to the shark man while pulling out a short rod covered with carvings of sea birds out of his pouch. He mutters, "Wait for me next time and you'll have less of a fright." He spreads his arms wide and a fan of foul-smelling acid flows out from his outstretched hands miraculously arcing around Beth, Silas, and Obi. "Fire isn't Pele's only weapon."
Casts intensified burning hands using lesser selective metamagic rod to exclude Beth, Silas, and Obi (I think they are the only ones in range). He will use versatile evocation to turn the damage type to acid. 7d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 2, 1, 4, 4) + 2 = 22 DC 19 Reflex save for half
Spells used: haste, intensified burning hands
Magic item uses: Lesser selective metamagic rod (2/3 daily uses remain)
brvheart
lesser selective metamagic rod - nice item. It is slightly over the 25% limit, but not too much. Main issue is the 17 CL to make it. The only way I can see you having the item is to have found it in some obscure corner of a dungeon as the highest caster level in the area is level 12. Just realize that you can't buy or make anything else nearly that high.
Reflex save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Silas Frey
Silas tries again to land a blow. When he's this big why is it such an issue?
Rapier attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 1 + (6, 5) = 17
Then again with the hasted attack.
Rapier attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (2, 1) = 7
Beth Macara
XP total is 23014 for Silan and Sandman and 23114 for Beht and Obi. Level 6 here we come
As the corpse drops on the ground, Beth jumps over it, rushing towards the derelict house to try to locate the kidnapped girl.
--Sandman--
Sandman looked sadly at the man-shark. He spent a few moments performing a sort of last rights, tracing a spiral on the fallen foe's face. He seemed to draw something out of the body and into the mask he held. Then he hooked it back to the front of his belt.
--Sandman--
Sandman shrugged apologetically and waited for the others to check on the girl. He would have a hard time fitting in the hut normally. At his current size, he could practically pick it up. While they waited he tried to explain to Wexley what he had learned over the years.
"Pain is the root of many terrible things. Fear, injustice, addiction, sadness. All are masks worn by pain. Other things though, bravery, love, triumph, these things are the results of enduring pain. Pain transforms, or breaks, everyone it touches."
"That is what pain is for."
He pointed at Wexley.
"Some of us keep our pain inside, hidden from the world. Those people wear masks of normalcy to protect their internal wounds, and spend their lives trying to save others from ending up like they are. They become their mask."
He gestured toward the shark-man that was now merely a man, dead on the ground.
"Some of us wear our pain on the outside, our scars plain to see and our pain an ambassador to the world. The mask becomes them."
Then he pointed to himself.
"Some of us do both."
"The difference, and the choice we all must make, is in whether it controls us, or we control it. When the pain is in control, people get hurt. When we are in control, people are healed."
brvheart
Jessica appears apathetic to the battle that raged around her, dazed or in disassociated shock, content to meekly watch the bloodbath from her bed.
Beth Macara
Sheathing her scimitar as the girl seems alone, Beth reaches to her.
"Don't be afraid, little girl. I'm Beth and these men are my friends. They came to rescue you from the big sharkmen and to bring back to your dad. Tell me, did one of the big men hurt you?"
While she talks, Beth checks the girl for injuries to the head or even bites that could explain her catatonic state.
heal check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Is there's a way other than heal checks to find if someone has been cursed by a black shark bite? Like a spell or a similar effect?
Wexley
Detect Magic should reveal a curse, and Detect Poison should reveal a poison. I have Detect Magic, but not the other.
brvheart
She is covered with bumps and bruises, but the 25 heal check does reveal that they cover a bite and that she is infected. Only by suspecting it AND making the DC 25 is this revealed.
Beth Macara
"I can't believe what this (long string of swear words) did to her", you hear Beth saying between her teeth as she checks the girl.
"We need to take her to Miliauka quickly. She's been bitten and I guess infected."
Wexley
"Yes yes, she'll need attention. But let us not forget the innocent man bound to hang. What of him then?" Wexley says, slightly flustered.
brvheart
The other issue is it is getting late in the evening and you still have a 2 hour boat ride back to meet with the pirate at midnight
Leialoha
Leialoha helps to search the hut while others tend to the girl.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
He hisses at word that the girl is infected, "If Miliauka cannot offer succor to her, it would be better that she die. The man shark curse is worse than death and threatens us all. We take the girl and meet Drango. The other colonials can wait for morning."
--Sandman--
Sandman shakes his head sadly. "A cure will be difficult. Powerful magics will be needed."
Wexley
Wexley tries to come up with cures he might have heard or learned about at some point.
Heal (untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 7
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
brvheart
Wexley, this is more of a Knowledge Religion and the four of them already know what Milliauka has the most knowledge about this in the area.
Beth Macara
"I agree, time is short for our meeting. Let's go back and drop most of you with Milliauka. Then I propose Silas, Obi and myself will go and meet our new contact. Then tomorrow we'll go and free the girl's father. They're not going to hang it in the middle of the night, anyways."
