FFS! I was at 9 hit points. Stabilization: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

If only that roll had come on any one of my attack rolls this fight would be over.

"Mr. Thorthal, I think we need you here. I can finish tying up the sleeping guards, if you like."

Sovereign Court

Petronicus steps back and readies the light crossbow he has been carrying around and fires at the guard.

Twang:: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 81d8 ⇒ 8

Don't forget he has to save every round to keep holding his greasy sword.

Does the guard appear to have other weapons?

Thorthal finishes tying up the guard, drops the rope, steps to -C-5, and focuses for a moment. (Uses Martial Versatility, drops Deflect Arrows, gains Improved Trip if the guard has other weapons, Improved Disarm otherwise)

If he dropped his weapon before Thorthal's action, then Disarm, otherwise Trip.

Male Elder GM

Petronicus cast grease, Guard saved. Guard swung at Morgrom and dropped him, losing sword in the process. Then Petronicus shot, Morgrom stabilized, Thorthal tied, Bardos shot. So Thorthal is choosing based on Guard currently having no weapon, but dagger at belt.

Male Elder GM

Haer Kul hurls his cultural Galtan insults at the warrior, and Prahd fires his crossbow. The second shot is barely turned aside by the warrior's buckler.

The guard stoops to grab Morgrom's greatsword, then steps next to Petronicus and swings a fist at him. The punch catches the wizard squarely in the mid-section.

rules question for Neil:

How is his touch AC higher than 12? If he is wearing banded mail, his max dex should be +1. Am I missing something? Other than him?
Sorry to harp on this, I know it wasn't a great roll, but If that didn't hit, I have no means to fight this guy left.

Male Elder GM

Apologies all. I misread Prahd's attack on the previous page. One of his bolts actually hit for 10 points of damage, I'd read it as a 10 to hit (touch attack). That is not enough to change anything else that has happened, but the guard is finally seriously wounded.

Male Elder GM

As Petronicus withdraws, Thorthal steps in to protect the wizard and slaps Morgrom's sword out of the grasp of the group's opponent.

As the guards are tied, HaerKul will also gag them. I assume that someone else will attend to Morgrom with one of our healing potions.

When he finishes the last: "We should question one of these about what is going on here. Who is behind the takeover of the mill. And whether there are more guards. I wonder if this is the source of the madness, or whether some greedy individual has just taken advantage for his own gain."

After speaking, Haer Kul drinks an extract to recharge his innate magic.

The warriors don't seem to have anything of value beyond their weapons and armour, which are of standard quality. Some of these are scattered about the battlefield. Each of them had a longsword, dagger, and ammo for their crossbows. The leader also had a heavy crossbow, and is wearing banded mail and a buckler. The others had light crossbows, and wear chainmail.

Prahd administers the infusion to Morgrom (I think Haer Kul is carrying it?) then gathers up crossbow bolts and retrieves his morningstar.

"Someone should take that armour. It's too heavy for my tastes. Petronicus?"

Anything magical?

"Why does everyone assume I can tell whether things are magical or not? I specifically spent decades studied the manipulation of light, sound and magic to conjure ancient monstrosities, and occasionally a splotch of grease! Hmphh!" Petronicus face turns notably red with consternation, visible even under the heavy powder he wears on his face.

You see, my centipede does not enjoy people making mirth at his expense. He gets the far fetched notion you are engaging in mockery.
