Pete meets up wit Jack and the rest and gives the signal for them to come out of hiding now that the immediate threat was dealt with. he inspects the Lizard creatures dragging them to one area. " Alright, Two Lizards down. Inspect them for anything of use and find those weapons they shot at us. The medical department is going to have a field day with this. Mark, Jack, Bob; your with me. We are going to cover the perimeter and find any signs of that Ship. Knowing our luck its probably cloaked. Watch for traps on the ground. "

beside each of the lizards is a pistol sized weapon, or at least what is left of one, some form of acid has wrecked one and badly damaged the other.
Each of the lizards are a mix of brown and green scales, but you can see as you drag them over the grass that more of the scales are changing to green. The lizards are about 5ft tall and about the same build as an average human. Both their hands and feet have small claws and their fingers are slightly (about 20%) shorter than humans.

Ack, may as well swap out my mag with a fresh one. Bob, please reload the launcher.
Jack does a quick search of the alien to see if anything useful for the group is produced. GM can roll appropriate check as needed.

The lizards have no equipment other than the acid damaged pistols.

" Good, though I'm not sure what the hell these come from they act like Chameleons. That's probably why we had problems pinpointing them. Natural camouflage. Bag the weapons if possible. "
Pete moves further into the clear trying to catch any signs of tracks, movement or otherwise.
" Report says there was a ship here its got to be somewhere. Our bird hasnt radioed in yet either. I cant see the fix being that fast whatever maintenance the enemy had. "
He takes a measure of the lizards and how they might leave prints based on size and weight.

"Alright, looks like we're looking for a giant invisible UFO at this stage? If it isn't here it's probably in the immediate area; I doubt they would have set up a trap like that too far from their ship."

Skill is untrained; perception of 33 so unless I'm getting a bonus, nada.
"I'd love to perform an autopsy on these Lizardmen to see if they have any implants or whatever that might help us find this ship but out here? right now? Not the best place"
She says, keeping her guard up as they survey the clearing.
"Y'know...if we went upwind, we could try using a Smoke Grenade to see if it would catch the contours of the ship? Granted its pretty dark Or just about now so that might not work all that well."
Pete Carlton
Pete grinned, though it wouldnt be seen his tone broke for but a second, " Heck if I wasnt sure I would need it later, I could use a Flash along with the smoke and the refraction of light oddly with the mist of the smoke would make it much easier."
His previous tone returned, " You can cut it up later. The bird should have bodybags. Another choice is firing in a 360 arch and noticing when the bullets stop prematurely. "
Mark Castle
Rejoining the rest of the squad, Mark gets his first good look at the hostiles. "Well, they are definitely not normal," he states. He pulls out his notebook to make some quick sketches of the creatures and their equipment, along with a few descriptive notes.
Listening in on the others' suggestions, he nods at Anna's idea. "I vote for the smoke idea. It should give us at least a vague outline, and it'll be significantly more covert than a flashbang or someone sweeping an automatic weapon through 360 degrees."
Pete Carlton
" Considering we fired automatic, semi-automatic and shotgun projectile weapons with little response I doubt it. On that note does anyone have a device capable of taking pictures? If not take mine and start using it, if it works and then suddenly shuts off that might be an indicator as well. Information did mention that. " Pete started waving his Dataslate around during his investigation.
" Either way we are burning light and time, any longer and we might be better off radioing in for pickup to secure the bodies. "
SWAT Gunner Jack
As i mentioned before the clearing mostly opens up to the west, but as far as you can see there is nothing there.
Now I ain't no scientist, but ships can't land on trees. There's a clearing not too far from here where their patrol was circling, so we don't we all test out our Bill Nye theories over there?
Browman
Roger's rocks go flying some of them hitting nothing, but the last two both make contact with something solid. But they aren't what causes the cloaking around the ship to drop. The hail of fire from energy weapons mounted on the side of the ship are.
One of the weapons aims directly at roger. The other aiming to suppress the main cluster of the group.
But whatever is wrong with their ship seems to have affected the automatic targeting system as none of the shots are on target.
Now that you can see the ship, it is clearly and ovoid that has force fields taking up the majority of the sides.
Pete Carlton
Pete instantly goes into action urging people into cover. " Whoa Whoa, we found our prize. Move up to secure it, dont fire unless you see something else. We need to know if its automated to respond to threats or just movement. "
Pete then runs along the brush towards the ovoid ship. " Only way I know how, distraction. Otherwise this might get messier. "
Anna White-Campbell
"G%* D$+MIT!"
Anna states, getting into cover.
"Just the thing we were tying to avoid! Warn us before doing that next time, please-and-thank-you."
Now, taking a good look at the ship again.
In terms of scale, how big is this thing? Is it of comparable size to stuff we've seen before to estimate crew complement or is it so alien that we cant?
Taking a slower approach than Pete and keeping to the brush to not expose herself to the automated weaponry:
"So, before we do anything, do we radio in to say we've found the thing? Y'know, in the event that we all suddenly disappear for whatever reason."
Pete Carlton
" I'm expecting you all to make the right decisions without me breathing down your neck. Relay info, though our disappearance would make death evident. "
Do the weapons system seem to have an obvious range of trajectory or movement?
Roger Macaskill
"I relayed my info, I told you I found it" Roger chuckles "sorry Anna"
Pete instantly goes into action urging people into cover. " Whoa Whoa, we found our prize. Move up to secure it, dont fire unless you see something else. We need to know if its automated to respond to threats or just movement. "
[/b]
"if it would respond to movement it would have shot you all when you were fighting and dragging the bodies around. Don't aggro it and we should be fine. Anybody got anything to help me disable it? I wonder how close we can go and whether I need to strap a dead acid-bleeding alien to my chest so it won't shoot me"
Roger Macaskill
Do we all have radios? Powerline said he'd radio us when he found a spot to land
Roger radios Powerline: "Powerline, we have contact 2 ...aliens(?) dead. UFO located, it has automated defence systems and what looks like a force field, yes really, and we're trying to discern how to disable it. Do we have the resources to have the area quarantined or get the UFO airlifted out of here?"
"crossing the force field is probably what triggers it"
Browman
The craft is an ovoid about 10 meters long, 5 meters wide and 4 meters tall. Thus except for where they block each other's line of sight the two weapons cover about 160 degrees with about 140 of overlap.
As you all scurry away the two weapons focus on Pete as he moves forward.
Some of this second round of shooting is more accurate as the weapons begin firing on single shot. A pulse of energy slams into Pete dealing 8 damage with 2 pen to the chest.

" Make sure you hit this time! "
Its a heavy so I assume you braced with it before, Weapons have ranges and based on that you might get a bonus. If its within short Range you get a +10 if its a Standard shot thats also a +10
thanks, just go out of a meeting and posted without book in front of me. With bracing, standard shot and short range (which I believe it is, weapon range 150m), I believe I actually just make it. I hate slowing down a game, I figure I can always post my intent and tweak later as needed.
Jack, once (if) Plan B gets activated, stands back to admire his handwork.
Mark Castle
Sorry about the slow posting guys, was at a beer festival all day yesterday and didn't get in til late.
Mark hits the deck as the alien craft opens fire. He crawls into cover before popping up to get a look at it. Looking over at the rest of the squad, he sees Pete charge at the craft, taking a shot from the craft's weapons for his trouble. As he does, Jack launches a rocket at the ship, which streaks across the clearing. The backwash from the rocket fortunately fails to set the forest alight. "Good work Jack. Let's hope that creates us a way in before Pete gets cut to ribbons."
Browman
Jack's missile slams into the force field which crumples and fades away after the hit. inside you can see that a large, multi-purpose area takes up most of the back 7 meters of the ship; currently it is filled with animals that are hanging from the roof by hooks, like this is some kind of slaughterhouse or butcher.
Browman
Pete ducks inside giving the thumbs up to Jack making a sweeping motion with his shotgun to secure the craft.
It is kind of awkward moving inside the craft with all the animals hanging from the ceiling. Fortunately the floor isn't curved like the bottom of the outside of the craft.
Once inside you see that the front 3m or so has a bulkhead between it and the rest of the craft, with a door sized force field in the bottom of the middle.
Roger Macaskill
Roger runs inside hoping to get in before the force field come back up.
Once inside he starts trying to figure out how to turn the defence systems off.

It is probably more like very hard at this point.
Roger gets inside the enemy ship, but anything that looks remotely like a control console or wiring doesn't operate anything like a human system.

Pete watches Roger fiddle around to no avail before acting. " Roger let me borrow your tool for a sec I think I might be able to do something. Know some stuff but it usually takes me a second. "
Looking around the Bulkhead and surrounding area, Pete uses the Combi-tool and takes about 10 minutes to think on it before trying something out. " This seems right... "

Is that single force field that leads further into the ship all we can see in the part of the hull we're currently in?
SWAT Gunner Jack
"Well, if these are the same types that have been abducting those villages in the Jungle...Its a good thing we got a hold of this stuff as soon as we did."
The thought of such a thing angers Jack greatly; he grips his shotgun tight and stacks at the front of the next "door", waiting for the order to bust it down and bring the pain.

Ship has two sections. The one you guys are in, which is the back 7 meters or so of the ship. And a front section about 3 meters or so, that is separated from you by a bulkhead with a force field door.

"I don't know what's going on here, but we need to stop it. Let's see if anyone is home." He moves up next to the door shaped force field, and takes up position ready to breach.
Pete Carlton
Pete watches as the weapons cease operation and sighs happily, " Sorry about that Roger, I've always had a knack with stuff like this. You won't believe it but my reason for even getting into to all this initially was to fund my Computer Science Degree. "
Passing the Combi-tool back to Roger to get to work, when it seems like he is having issues however Pete interjects, pointing out his mistake with a hunch of his own " Before any of that happens we need to turn off the Jamming Beacon, Soldier. And before that this door. "
