Ruslo
|
I thought she said it was temp gold for us to supply the mission with, then return the purchased items to her after. Is that accurate GM?
| GM Nowruz |
Ziralia looks at you and nods.
"The transport will be heavily guarded tonight, including the interior," says Ziralia.
"The convoy will acquire its fake sun orchid elixir outside the Citadel of the Alchemist at daybreak. I feel you have a good opportunity while the elixir is in transit, especially since one of you will be working with the guards and another of you can bring the rest of you to the convoy without any alarm."
She thinks for a moment.
"As you planned, if you manage to draw away most of the guards while the convoy is en route, you'll likely only face the scrutiny of only a small contingent of guards. Tonight it will have a full complement of guards. With the dancing lights signals that you learned, I think it would be quite easy to distract a large portion of the guards."
If you guys want to go with the plan now, I'm totally up for it and can initiate the scene. Are you ready?
Lady Naysha
|
When it starts I will use my assumed form ability to look like one of the important bosses that I know is not with the caravan, but people will listen to.
Disguise: 1d20 + 12 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 12 + 10 = 40
Fuzzzy
|
Fuzzzy takes two of the tanglefoot bags and a healing potion.
He is ready to go. Also, I am preparing my spells for the mission now. My spells are prepared for the mission. Before the fight starts I will use a scroll of mage armour on Fuzzzy, and he will start the battle with a wand of cause fear in one hand, and the other hand empty.
Ruslo

Ruslo is going to start with his shortbow ready.

Good idea Lady Naysha! Who would you like to impersonate? Gender, size etc. will make it harder or easier.
| GM Nowruz |
Lady Ziralia takes her leave. The adventurers are given room to stay in, and soon after a porter arrives with the purchases the group requested.
The heist
The convoy acquires its fake sun orchid elixir outside the Citadel of the Alchemist at daybreak. The transport returns to Pashow via a meandering route, obscuring its trail to confuse pursuers. Tracking the convoy without knowing its route might have been difficult, but thanks to their infiltration the Pathfinders will be waiting for the convoy when it arrives at their predetermined ambush location.
* * *
I am following Lady Naysha, Ruslo and Fuzzy with their planning now.
Farther away from the convoy Fuzzy is able to send will-o-wisp-like orbs of light into the sky in the symbol that indicates that the convoy guards should disperse into the desert to seek out intruders.
Dylph is with the convoy as he replaced one of the guards. He watches as all but two of the mages and one of the other guards leaves, taking with them all but two of the desert dogs. The code appears to have worked. The convoy should be reaching the ambush point soon.
The reamining group is now waiting at the ambush location. You have had one hour to make preparations, and you can hear the transport coming close so if you have any round or minute per level spells you can use those efficiently. Now the convoy will be coming around the bend soon. The map will be up in an hour and you will see the point of ambush. DON'T FORGET: "Ranus,
you gain a reputation as a trustworthy scout among the guards. The guards react positively when the PCs appear in the desert, allowing the PCs to begin a surprise round from any position outside the transport."
Bobby the Owl
|
Bobby grabs one of the tanglefoot bags in his talons and prepares to fly off into the sky with it.
Fuzzzy
|
I think I see the right map, but I don't know where which side we're starting from and where the transport is coming from?
Lady Naysha
|
I want to impersonate a lady who is medium sized, if I can. I did not know what choices there were. A quiet one is best. If there is not quiet one then maybe the lady who helped put together the altar that first day?
Ruslo
|
Ruslo picks a good spot to start the ambush where he can fire his bow at one of the mages from around thirty feet away.
Yeah, I see the map, but I'm not sure where they'll be coming/going from. I'd like them to be in the middle in the oval I placed. If we can ambush them around there Ruslo will come out from that side path and start the battle from around where I put him. He doesn't want to be in melee though, so his position might change depending on where the guards are..
Lady Naysha
|
Then I will be her!
Fuzzzy
|
"Ah, yes! Quite right!" Fuzzzy starts to wave his hands around. It's very calming...
Fuzzzy starts to cast sleep! It is a full round action.
Lady Naysha
|
Lady Naysha approaches looking like Boss Lady. She smiles and waves. She whispers something very quietly.
A moment later there's a WHOOOSH of wind! A strange little fey creature with antennae appears behind the mage and pulls his robes up over his head! Now the mage is all tangled up! Then the fey creature disappears with another WHOOOOOSH of wind!
Using my Whimsical Prank ability to call on my fairy friends which lets me make a ranged dirty trick against one of the mages.
Whimsical Prank (Dirty Trick to make him entangled): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Dylph
|
Surprise round action
At the time the ambush is sprung, Dylph will fire a blunt arrow at the flat-footed mage nearest him (M2) to inflict non-lethal damage...
Shortbow: 1d10 + 8 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 14 (vs flat-footed AC)
Non-Lethal Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + 1 + (4, 6) = 16
Ruslo
|
Ruslo fires a sleep arrow at one of the mages!
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Non-lethal Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Plus they need to make a DC 11 Will save or fall asleep.
Suna Ellia
|
Suna begins casting a spell. spontaneously casting summon nature's ally, summoning a leaf leshy, spell has 1 round casting time.
Sita stays close to her big sister and waits to see what happens.
| GM Nowruz |
Hi guys, I put you all on the map now with the icons of the guard and the two dogs and the two mages.
Fuzzy and Suna, 1 round casting time means your standard action in the surprise round and your standard action in round 1 will be used to cast your spells so you have move action available in round 1.

AMBUSH!
Ranus really gained the trust of the guards and Lady Naysha is disguised as one of the leaders of the convoy so when you all arrive although the majority of the guards is gone no one is suspicious.
You use the momentum and start acting at the same time taking the guards and mages completely by surprise!
* * *
Surprise round
Ranus is very successful and can command the dogs to stay where they are!
Suna and Fuzzy both start casting spells.
Lady Naysha in her disguised form gains the assistance of her fairy friends and the guard they target is suddenly entangled!
Dylph's arrow hits the first mage so hard that the poor guy does not even have time to react before falling to the ground from the precise hit.
Ruslo's arrow alone was enough to stagger the second mage but the sleep effect was most effective as the mage closes his eyes and falls asleep.
Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Suna finishes her spell and another leshy who looks a lot like Sita appears.
"Sisters, please go keep that guard from hurting my friends and me!"
the two littler leshies move forward and poke at the guard with their spears.
Fuzzzy
|
Fuzzzy finishes casting his spell, "SLEEP!" making the orange dog and the red guard very sleepy!
Will DC 15 negates.
Lady Naysha

Lady Naysha points at the dog next.
Suddenly the speedy fey zips back into sight, tosses some sand in the dog's eyes, then vanishes with a WHOOSH!

Non-lethal: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

If there are no other enemies:
Ruslo hurries over to the transport's secret trap door and pulls out the key he will need to unlock the chains.
| GM Nowruz |
Only Suna's summoned plant and Ranus can hit the guard but he is still standing.
Lady Naysha's magical fairies are not successful this time and Ruslo does not hit!
The remaining guard is still entangled but looks at you with angry look.
He shouts "HELP!!" and you see that he is thinking about commanding the dog but decides to draw his sword and attack but he misses!
