"My mixed ancestry only gave me one a day, I'm afraid." she states, recounting her spells and being at a loss as to what to use next.

I am not certain on the swarm size, if they're tiny I think I can hit them, though not for much damage, but if they're size is fine then I can't harm them.


Bats swarms consist of diminutive animals. A swarm composed of Fine or Diminutive creatures is immune to all weapon damage.

Falshin can deal full damage to the swarm with his kinetic blast and will attack next round, but with Jaeron's low Con I was concerned he wouldn't make it another round in there without healing.

From inside the swarm of bats, Falshin calls out. "Everyone get clear! I can handle these vile beasts!"

I'm not sure of the timing of my healing vs. my stabilization check vs. my possible action(s). Just let me know if I still have actions I can take to get out of the swarm.

I believe I'm at 5/7 HP now?

Cactus moves towards the bats.

The swarm of carnivorous bats is still afraid of the fire that came from the north and stays where it was starting to hurt Falshin ... the tiny bats start tearing into his flesh.

And this is exactly why I LOVE my telekineticist. Due to bat swarm's damage not being more than my the temporary hit points gained by my Force Ward, Falshin does not suffer any of the negative effects from the swarm's attack. Therefore he is essentially immune to the distraction and bleed ability until they deal more damage than my Force Ward has HP.

Falshin stands among the swarming bats, smiling as his companions escape the area, seemingly unscathed as the tiny creatures seem to slam into some unseen force around the healer! He laughs as he takes a few steps back and uses his aetheric powers to pick up some nearby debris and send it flying into the swarm! "Everyone get out!"

Telekinetic Blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Or flying into the wall, either way....

I do not think I have a standard left to throw, if I do...

That won't really help, I'll remain ready with my wand of CLW to assist any injured party members.


Jaeron’s last attack was all you needed to decimate the remaining bats.

You see black, dead bats everywhere and the smell of burned and dissolved flesh is almost nauseating.

You check all tunnels but they are too narrow to follow after a while and you cannot find anything more of interest in there.

You are certain that there is nothing to be found beyond the documents of those legendary Pathfinders.


Silence ... you are now again in this silent ... and very ancient cavern that was not touched for ages.

You start to look at the documents in more detail.

The papers chronicle the personal exploits of Selmius Foster, a famous Pathfinder whose name some of you recognize from their training as Pathfinder agents.

Most of Foster’s more infamous adventures appear here in varying amounts of detail, but it is evident there is another investigation he had been pursuing before he died: the lost records of a Society agent named Eylysia.

You find two very interesting documents, which detail Selmius’s thoughts on the matter, and an appended note from Adolphus.

Together, these reference three major leads Foster had found. But it seems as if they never had time to investigate properly as the thoroughly compiled notes just stop at some point.

The kitchen personnel is a little astounded to see you again, especially with some of you having blood stains on their clothes. And although Heryn Gale is quite busy when you return she notices that you obviously were in a fight.

When you explain to her that you found the secret door she obviously is very surprised about what you found.

Heryn then says "That is truly unbelievable and I agree with you. But to be honest such a matter has to be discussed with a Venture-Captain to align on the next step. I do not know what you want to do now but good luck to you! And please come back and inform us what to do with the room ... I ... I am still in shock ... unbelievable."

I decline to inform here what we found, except for the swarm. I think it's above our paygrade to make that sort of decision.

Kam tells the Venture-Captain about all we discovered in the cellar as well as the limited amount of information we gave to Heryn and why.

Dreng looks confused first and then almost flabbergasted after hearing Kam’s story.

"I ... I cannot believe that I have been in this wine cellar so many times and have never noticed this secret door! You Pathfinders might have found something that gives us a taste of our roots." he says with genuine surprise in his voice.

"You had the luck of finding a long-lost trove of documents and by following my directions you will potentially earn some renown in Absolom. This is an important find and you will be the ones to investigate some potentially far-reaching discovery related to Eylysia because you were the ones to stumble upon it." he says with a sly smile.

Then he looks at the documents in more detail.

"The other documents you found that are not related to Eylysia will need to stay with me so that I can begin assigning other agents to decrypt and collate the contents for proper study and comparison to exploits published in the Pathfinder Chronicles."

Falshin simply smiles at Dreng's word, knowing very well that there was more behind this than simply fetching a bottle of wine. "This is truly an amazing find! Which of these leads should we investigate first?"


Dreng raises an eyebrow waiting for some decision from the group.

Upon the revelation that it is afternoon at the moment.

"Perhaps we should pay a visit to this gnome, then make our way to Eastgate at nightfall"


Dreng seems to be in thoughts but then starts to speak.

"Well, Fimbrik is a long-serving member of the Arcanamirium — Absalom’s largest and oldest magical institution. But Fimbrik never was a member of the Pathfinder Society although I heard that he had some connections to Pathfinders in the past. The Arcanamirium allows the gnome a sizable residence on its campus in Absalom’s Wise Quarter. I do not know his exact address though. I have to be honest that I have not heard from the gnome in several years although I heard that he can be very dangerous and his illusions are often more real than reality. So ... be careful!" he says.


Suddenly, Dreng stands up, looks around and seems distracted.

"Ahhhh ... six people standing next to me with papers definitely has blown my cover!" he sighs.

"You find me in the Grand Lodge. Now go and solve this puzzle!" he says and walks away.


FIMBRIK's HOME

You all arrive at the Arcanamirium's campus in Absalom’s Wise Quarter.

Fimbrik's home itself is an impressive stone dwelling reminiscent of what one might expect from an eccentric wizard’s home.

A brick step leads to Fimbrik’s front entrance, which is locked with a rusty lock.

Numerous stacks of newspapers—roughly 2 years’ worth of monthly copies—are piled around the door and crammed into a thin slot at its base. Each rounded corner of the building has a large window, allowing creatures to look into the structure without difficulty.

I opened the slide with the map.

You ring the bell and knock but receive no answer. In general the house does not look like it has seen many visitors recently.

You begin to walk to the first window on the left of the front entrance.

D3. Bedroom
A bed and desk occupy this room.

Then you walk to the window on the right of the front entrance.

D4. Study
This study contains a round table surrounded by chairs, and the walls are replete with tome-laden bookshelves.

An elderly gnome garbed in noble attire with a dapper rounded hat on his head and a can tipped with a brilliant glowing gem in his hand is standing in the room. It seems as if he is perusing his book collection.

Falshin's eyebrows raise at the collection of papers stuffed around the front door of the residence. "This does not bode well for us finding him here. Perhaps we should seek him out at the Arcanamirium? Although, maybe a quick walk around might be prudent?" He goes to the window on the right and immediately spots an elderly gnome. "Oy! It would seem he is home after all!"

Falshin immediately walks up and raps his knuckles upon the windowpane. "Master Fimbrik! I apologize for the interruption, but my companions and I would speak with you if you have but a few scant moments to spare."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19


The gnome does not react at all. He is either not noticing you or is ignoring you.

Falshin frowns, recalling that Dreng mentioned Fimbrik was quite the illusionist, and uses his telekinetic powers to lift an object from the nearby desk and push it into Fimbrik in an attempt to further get his attention. Or see if he is even real...


... as expected the pen Falshin is moving passes through the very interested gnome reader who is not bothered by the pen in its body.

He lets the pen drop to the ground. "It's an illusion. I suspect Master Fimbrik has not been here in quite some time... If he is even still alive." He sighs. "Perhaps we should follow up at the Arcanamirium to see if they have any idea of his whereabouts or any way to contact him. The only other option I see is to go into his home without permission. And that could land us in a spot of trouble should we be caught, Pathfinders or no."

Kam points out the large pile of papers and says "It doesn't look like he has been here in a long while. I don't think waiting or coming back is going to be any different. I think we should try and find a way inside."

Jaeron looks over the group and thinks for a moment.

"Well, I have an idea. Not sure it's going to work though..."

Jaeron mutters a few words while pointing his finger at the door handle and lock. A small splash of green ooze begins spraying from his hands.

Just repeated acid splashes at the door handle and locking mechanism to see if it can eat through it.


Those that detected magic see that there are magical auras surrounding all the rooms you are looking at.
