"Velthas thinks this may not have been the wisest course." Velthas says in alarm as his companions lurch into action. However, seeing the already agitated priest suddenly assaulted by fists, arrows, and nets Velthas sighs loudly.

Moving quickly out and around his companions Velthas takes up a flanking position across from Zoltan as he draws his sword before attempting to trip the priest and end this without more violence. "Restraint my friends, this man has done no wrong."

CMB: Trip (+1 CMB, +2 Flanking): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Well, that escalated quickly. Assuming he falls Velthas will brandish his rapier at the man and ask that he yield before further violence ensues.

It is almost as though some unusual entity in the universe has mirrored Reggie's very thoughts...thoughts he puts into words.

"Well, that escalated quickly," he mutters.

Still, he has no love of clerics of this ilk and, at worst, they have likely just beat the man to the punch.

He draws his lance and lowers it, aiming it at the man.

"Unless the next words out of your mouth are 'I surrender' or something similar, I'm going to skewer you," he warns.

Move action to draw the lance. Readied attack if the man doesn't surrender.

Readied Attack:
Lance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
This is without the bonus if he's on the ground, since I don't know for sure if he got tripped.

Let us first resolve this as it has impact on the fight. You provoke an AoO which might change the outcome.

Durward (entangled) AoO vs. Velthas : 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 2 = 9

* * *

Durward is hit several times and suddenly has a net around his body and is thrown on his ass!

Reggie, you only moved as you acted in the surprise round. No readied action. ;-)

Concentration to cast spell, entangled DC 17 : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

You see that Durward casts an invisibility spell and suddenly is gone although the net clearly shows you where he his located.

The floating net suddenly starts to move and it seems that Durward is standing up.

No AoO as he has concealment. The net clearly shows the square he is in. Roll total concealment when you attack (50%) with low being good please.

Round 1
1. Zoltan, Nox, Kala, Hanzo and Velthas
2. Durward
3. Reggie: You are up!

Round 2

2. Durward
3. Reggie

Sorry, I rolled his Defensively Casting directly before the entangled concentration check but must have deleted it. I also wrote that he dropped his weapon before casting his spell which also is not in the post. Aaagh!!! To be fair I offer you to roll the casting defensively again if even one of you would want that!

You easily find the mausoleum.

Arkath must have paid a substantial sum to have his remains guarded here as the mausoleum houses only 24 sarcophagi and the names clearly mark many of the other deceased as nobility.

Arkath's sarcophagus is one of the first you see after entering the mausoleum. It is quite simple but very well made. His name is engraved in Taldan. There are no obvious religious symbols to be seen.

You believe that some strength is needed to open the sarcophagus but that you can jointly remove the upper section to peer into it.

You check but you do not see any traps.

Together you start to move the upper section of the sarcophagus and it is obvious that some of you are not really happy with this act ... disturbing the peace of the dead sometimes comes with harsh results.

But in this case you find darkness, dust and the skeleton of a humanoid being that is resting peacefully in his grave ... you see that the interior of Arkath’s sarcophagus is otherwise empty. You assume this to be the stonemason’s long-dead skeleton.

Perception DC 15 - if one of you makes the check all can look:

kn religion DC 15:

Obol of passage

In some ancient cultures the obol of passage is an allusive term for a coin placed in or on the mouth of a dead person before burial. Literary sources specify the coin as an obol, and explain it as a payment or bribe for passage to the next world. Souls wander across the river that divides the world of the living from the world of the dead.

PATHFINDER’S COIN
PRICE 1,500 GP

Aura faint divination

This apparently simple coin, usually styled to resemble ancient currency, hides intricate gold and platinum wires within. This matrix, carefully modeled after fragmentary Azlanti coins, causes the Pathfinder’s coin to rise an inch into the air and slowly spin in place if placed atop a wayfinder. In addition, when levitating above a wayfinder, the coin can be given a message of 25 words or fewer. This message repeats in the speaker’s voice the next time the coin is floated above a wayfinder. Only one message may be stored at a time, and once it is triggered, the message is expended and a new one may be recorded.

As Kala casts her spell, her face slowly molds into an expression of wonder. Once finished, she opens her mouth to speak, but catches herself. Glancing over at the cleric, she cautions: "Best if he doesn't hear any of this. Here, hold this." Handing the coin to Reggie, she digs out the cheese from her pack. Plucking off two pinches, she molds it in her fingers, then presses a glob into each of the cleric's ears. She then replaces the cheese block in her pack. Stinky sticks his nose in her way, hungry enough to try to eat the cheese. Kala pushes him away with exasperation as she stands. "No, Stinky! Heel!"

Striding back over to the group, she speaks in a low voice:

"Anybody have a wayfinder? This coin can hold a short message that it'll release when you place it over a wayfinder. It'll also levitate and spin, which might give us a direction to head next. Maybe. But I'll bet there's a message here for us. We'll only be able to hear it once, so we'll have to pay close attention." Her eyes rove the group, hoping someone has a wayfinder. You all decide to go to Fimbrik's home first and his address was noted in the documents you found.

FIMBRIK's HOME

You all arrive at the Arcanamirium's campus in Absalom’s Wise Quarter.

Fimbrik's home itself is an impressive stone dwelling reminiscent of what one might expect from an eccentric wizard’s home.
A brick step leads to Fimbrik’s front entrance, which is locked with a rusty lock.

Numerous stacks of newspapers—roughly 2 years’ worth of monthly copies—are piled around the door and crammed into a thin slot at its base. Each rounded corner of the building has a large window, allowing creatures to look into the structure without difficulty.

See the map in the slides for a layout of the house.

You ring the bell and knock but receive no answer. In general the house does not look like it has seen many visitors recently.

You begin to walk to the first window on the left of the front entrance.

D3. Bedroom

A bed and desk occupy this room.

Then you walk to the window on the right of the front entrance.

D4. Study

This study contains a round table surrounded by chairs, and the walls are replete with tome-laden bookshelves.

An elderly gnome garbed in noble attire with a dapper rounded hat on his head and a can tipped with a brilliant glowing gem in his hand is standing in the room. It seems as if he is perusing his book collection.
