Glastor Gilderhoff III
|
Seeing the darkness of the tower, Glastor triggers his wayfinder for light, and says, "See this? I got it when I completed my Confirmation as a Pathfinder agent! If each of you become Pathfinders and I know that Sigríðr already is one but the rest of you could be ones too and you could earn a wayfinder and have light in wherever you go like I have." He takes time to breathe before continuing, and then notices a certain look in Sigríðr's eye, so holds off.
Glastor Gilderhoff III
|
"But, Sigríðr, light doesn't ruin darkvision! Granted, I recall reading an old text that claimed that it did, but it also claimed that a dwarf's ability to see in the dark was because she was seeing the heat of the targets. That's kind of silly, since if you are working in the darkness below the surface, you'd never be able to navigate. So, I don't believe that it ruins your darkvision as much as it makes it superfluous at short ranges.
"And it is far better for those of us not blessed with darkvision, really."
Fhlangorn Spiritrock
|
Fhlangorn glares at Sigrid.
Don't worry Glastor, I don't mind your light. By the way, I have one of them Wayfinders too!
Prizm
|
Blinking to adjust his eyes Prizm quips, "I like the light quite a bit! It allows you to see the beautiful colors of my woodland home, and of course to enjoy the mysteries of illusion. Things that are unseelie generally cling to darkness, and while the night by the moon allows for a supreme level of beauty... It also gives refuge to those who would choose to battle the seelie court."
Musing his eye glints a tiny bit. "Remind me to tell you about what a quasar is someday Glastor! Now that is a great example of light! As for your shiny necklace, the queen gave me one of those after Bert and my transformation.. Then she had us meet the Sages!"
Looking around.. "Let's go! What's the hold up?"
Krush the Defender
|
Krush shakes his head, aiming his own Wayfinder inside the room and stepping in, glancing around with the excess of light coming from behind him.
Sigríðr Jǫrðhamarr
|
Sigríðr quietly enters behind Krush in a defensive stance looking in the corners for anything hidden, smelling the air for strange smells, and listening to anything above the sound her group makes. She whispers in the direction of her Shoanti colleague, "Quiet now. What do you think lives in here?"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Krush the Defender

"Ah, subtlety. Of course." Krush says, lowering his voice. "More spiders? Vampires? Demons?"
He pauses for a moment, looking around.
"I have been lead to believe that mummys are a grand problem."

The gnome cleric gets a wild look in his eye, after they realize that the room seemed pretty safe. He turns to Prizm and asks, "You say you are an illusionist? I bet you can do some pretty neat things! Can you really make things look differently than they really are? Can you make me look like a ten-foot tall pink and purple giraffe? 'Cause that would be really neat!"
Prizm
|
"Why are we all being so quiet? This group is about as stealthy as a heard of spriggens....
Looking around at the armor, and remembering the groans from the group during the climb. Then his mind drifts to the combat below.... and his eyes settle back on Sigrid.
"Yeah.... quiet... that's the ticket."
Prizm
|
Andy, I like your avatar :P switch to your dwarf of doom!
Sigríðr Jǫrðhamarr
|
Sigríðr looks utterly surprised that her listening at the door to ensure her group's safety would warrant such a vocal and loud reaction. Her look of disgust could rattle even the most stalwart of other Dwarves. She then backs off a step to let the Dwarf take whatever risks he wants thinking in disgust, 'Men, they don't listen to anybody except other men and whatever testosterone fueled craziness their nether reason dictates to them. No wonder they have a shorter life expectancy.'
Fhlangorn Spiritrock
|
Fhlangorn thinks to himself, I'd follow Sigrid's lead, woman or no, if she wasn't a complete b*+%*.
Glastor Gilderhoff III
|
Glastor moves up, muttering, "I didn't expect to be a giraffe, but it would be fun to look like one. Plus, Ithinkitwouldbeneattobetallwhatareyoudoingmisterspitrockweren'twetryingtobe quietbutIguessyoudon'tcaresoitisagoodthingImovedinsothatIcanhealyouallwheny ougethurt..." Again, he stops to get a breath, but realizes they are looking at him funny again.
"What?"
Fhlangorn Spiritrock
|
"Well Glastor, I only hear one idea getting expressed, and it's coming from a bossy, mean person. And I don't take kindly to that. I'd be more than happy to follow the lady's lead, if stopped treating me so poorly."
Fhlangorn glares at Sigrid.
"So until that happens, I don't understand what she says or does."
Fhlangorn glares at Sigrid again.
"And it ain't about yer nether parts neither. It's about you being downright rude to me, because of my nether parts."
Glastor Gilderhoff III
|
"Hee hee. DidyouseeorhearPrizmandBert? Fhlagnorncanunderstandgnome!"
Krush the Defender
|
Krush keeps quiet, standing aside and allowing psychic-dwarf-man to open the door, if he is so inclined. He smiles at Sigrid in the light of the wayfinders while shrugging his shoulders.

Fhlangorn looks at Glastor perplexedly,
"Were you speaking gnomish? That's weird, I've never learned gnomish..."
After scratching his beard and looking confused for a moment...
"You were talking fast though. I don't know that I fully understood you, but I thought I had the gist. That is until you let me know you just wanted to look like a giraffe instead of be one. If you want others to believe you are a Giraffe, though, in this tower? You better look like a young one, or an uncomfortable one..."
| GM Alera |
The group noisily argues while climbing up to the second level landing, and on into the next room. A sight most comical to watch, half of the group attempts to stealthily move on to the next area – while their armor clanks and their friends continue to bicker/chatter.

Fhlangorn attempts to open the door, turns to glare angrily at Sigrid and takes a Javelin trap to the shoulder – sprung from the square directly in front of the door.
take 3 damage, Fhlangorn
The door sticks for a moment, but Flangorns amazing strength he rolled nat20 strength check handily opens the mildly rusted door.
As he opens the door two more javelins come flying his direction, both narrowly missing.

In the far corner of the room you see two humanoid creatures. Their scaly hides are dull gray. Their frames resemble that of a cave lizard, with long tails and crests on their heads and backs.
As soon as you move within 30 ft of each creature make a DC11 Fort save or be sickened - that means 2 saves, one per creature.
Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks
hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on
display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in
place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of
rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.
Prizm

Windy can I be near Glastor? I have been interacting with the group.. yet I guess I am on the other room?
(if allowed to be closer)
With a flourish Prizm waves his wand at a young troglodyte.
Wand of Magic Missiles - 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 force damage.
if not,I double move to my location.
Glastor Gilderhoff III

"Oh! What are those? They are giving off a [i]fantastic[i] smell? Have you ever smelt anything like that, Bert? I know that I haven't! How marvelous!"
In spite of the tremendously horrid smell, Glastor seems strangely amused. Gnomes... go figure.
| GM Alera |
yeah, I'll give you that Prizm
R1B2: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The one on the right (red border) takes 3 damage
The young troglodytes draw their clubs and move forward to attack.
They rolled equal init above and I didn't settle it there because it didn't matter yet - it does now though, so here it is R1B2: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Bickering like the teenagers they are they argue about who gets to go first. The one that goes second is pissed and is swearing at the other one about not getting a chance to swing.
If you understand draconic, you caught all of that - if not, well, you caught most of it by their actions anyway
The one on the left blue border goes for the swing at the angry male dwarf in front.
TrogB attack: 1d20 ⇒ 6
TrogB dmg: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
... and misses horribly.
PS. As these guys move closer a wave of stench accompanies them.

Sigríðr Jǫrðhamarr

You might glimpse Sigríðr giving a little smile over watching the irony of Trogs argument. She steps forward and readies her pick for anything to approach through the open doorway. She half chuckles, "Might want to get that wound checked out."

Not really wanting to be in the thick of things, Glastor steps back, and says, "Korada guide the blow, make the stinkies go. Krush go kill the trogs, so we don't become frogs." (Casts guidance on Krush)
Krush the Defender

Krush smiles as he feels divine guidance flow through him, stepping up and pulling out his earth breaker again.

Prizm’s eyes light up as he has an idea – shuffling forward he mumbles some small complex words and waggles his fingers.
”byxhi hynrk!”
Defensive Casting: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Suddenly streams of complex oscillating colored butterflies fly forth from his fingers darting in all directions. The flow of beautiful insects spirals and blowing leaves interweave covering the young troglodytes in a shower of hues.
A vivid cone of clashing colors springs forth from your hand, causing creatures to become stunned, perhaps also blinded, and possibly knocking them unconscious. Each creature within the cone is affected according to its HD.
2 HD or less: The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.)
3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.
5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.
Sightless creatures are not affected by color spray.
”Bert! Don’t walk into the light!”
Bert the DODO
|
Mesmerized by the beautiful lights, the young Dodo shuffles forward only to suddenly bump into Fhlangorn.
Blinking his small beady eyes he squints up at the hairy beast of a dwarf...
"bert?"
Fhlangorn Spiritrock

Fhlangorn looks down at the dodo and smiles warmly.
"Hello Bert!"
Hey reaches into his beard and pulls out a crusty bread crumb.
"Was saving this for later, but here ya go Bert!"

Nice. I'll assume you move around/through your friends squares to avoid the aop off that empty center one.

Both are unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 4 rounds, blinded and stunned for 1, then stunned for 1 more.
Sigríðr Jǫrðhamarr

Sigríðr reels in shock at the little gnome moving into combat and interrupting the pack of waiting fighters. She mutters, "That had better work, cuz' I'm not cleaning gnome goo off my shoes."
And then looks towards the curious in-combat interaction between the Dwarf and the dodo and has a look of, seriously, what kind of surreal world have I entered?

I had to, I know you guys were readied - but I wanted to shoot butterflies! It's the first spell Prizm has cast since the 1st mission he did was pure diplomacy... and its an illusion spell... so YAR!
| GM Alera |
They weren't going to fall for it. A pig could look at that and see it was slaughter. I had them bickering with each other on who gets to step into that - "you first", "nope, you wanted it" etc. before they realized they had more javelins to throw instead.
Anyways. 4+ rounds. What do you do with them?

Prizm strolls into the room look around quietly whistling to himself. His eyes gaze over the gore of the now dead troglodytes and he frowns.
"Sorry fellows, as the tough dwarf woman behind me would say... you or us and all that... well, no she would probably say some mean things in-between that - but you get the idea... or maybe you don't ... you're dead" with that he sighs.

After searching the room the gnome wanders up to the door, then suddenly realizes he is breaking protocol. With an agile leap he quickly goes really quiet and starts to inspect the door.
All the while forgetting that he is now humming.
"Oh drat"
