Is it possible to have done some pre-buffs before we entered the throne room? We kind of barged in before I could make my preparations. I was hoping to at least have used Detect Evil before we opened the doors, or activated my Sacred Bond on my weapon.
| EndlessForms |
You could have buffed before heading in. Detect Evil wouldn't have worked through the door but if you were concentrating on it when the doors were opened you could confirm that she is evil.
Kayluss

I'll mark off another chrage of Lead Blades off my wand then.
Calistan the Wanderer

Calistan stoically brandishes his shield emblazoned with the mark of the graves at the fire witch. None shall injure my party!
Megferra the Rose

Awesome! Thanks.
Meg's eyes flit between the still-visible ifrit and drake, and charges the large red reptile with celestially bonded scimitar in hand while asking for power to vanquish it.
Divine Bond to add merciful to weapon, swift action to smite evil on the fire drake, and charge.
+1 Keen, Merciful Scimitar, charge, power attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 - 2 = 16 +4 if evil
Nonlethal Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 4 + (1) = 12 +7 if evil, +14 if evil dragon
Meg then prepares to fend off an attack from the drake.

Kaab can't locate the traps she is sure are there. Meg charges the dragon but slips up and misses it! The dragon (which is evil) breaths out a ball of flame (supernatural so doesn't provoke) which explodes into a fireball around the entrance where the party stands!

The only buff I'd have is Mage Armor, though if anyone else would want it I'll use my wand on them as well.
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Bizzle manages to avoid some of the harm that the spell brings to the party. He then casts his new favorite spell... Haste!
Dalton Bodhi
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Dalton winces as he's hit by the flame from Tygora, but manages to avoid some of the worst of the fireball.
15+10=25 total fire damage. Do we still have protection from fire going?
Dalton points down at the bronze plating on the floor, "Don't step there - it's a trap!"
He then enters his snapping turtle style and moves towards the ifrit towards the left hand side of the room, taking him in a grapple.
Grapple: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18

Kayluss charges the dragon but also misses, as does Dalton's wrestling move. Thanks to Calistan's spell, one of the Pathfinders is able to leap away from the trapped plating to cower in the corner of the room!

Kayluss takes 16 damage from the Falchion. Life Link will transfer 5 damage to Calistan at the beginning of Initiative 4.

Seeing Tygora pop back into sight, Meg shoots her a disapproving glare as her visible eye glows with divine light. "You're a liar and a mean person!"

Uh, I was attacking the flame drake! Can't reach Cinderfury without losing my full attack. Those damage numbers are also only so high because smite damage is doubled against dragons. I'm not actually sure how it works on efreeti. I know it's doubled against evil outsiders, but 1) I don't know if efreeti are outsiders (but I'm assuming they are since all those elemental types tend to be), and 2) I don't know if she would need the evil subtype for it to be doubled, or if just being evil and an outsider is enough.

Whoa, sorry Meg! I misread your post in my hurry to get an update out! That was my fault. Well, you would have knocked the dragon out too so it won't affect much: just ignore the dragon's attacks since it is unconscious and then the initiative would have gone on to the current group anyways. So Tygora is still up but the dragon is KO.
I'll redirect Baz's and Kayluss' attacks against Tygora then.

Meg takes down the dragon and Baz turns his ire upon the efreeti queen! Baz and Kayluss injure Tygora but she fights on!

No worries! I'll take a 5-foot step toward Tygora then after my attacks, if I can occupy one of the spaces of the unconscious drake (already moved on map). And I'm back up to 3 panache unless I spend one on a parry!

Kayluss quickly defeats Tygora, knocking her to the ground! The rest of the party easily subdues the remaining ifrit!
News of Tygora’s defeat spreads quickly through Crystalcrag, and the oreads respond with a mix of disbelief, relief, and confusion about what the future holds. Eurdan Stonemantle does his best to organize and encourage the newly liberated geniekin, though he is better able to lead them with the help of Glaher (the captured oread). The oreads and ifrits take the first steps in reconciling their differences, reintegrating the two populations, and keeping Crystalcrag united.
And that wraps it up! I will get the session reported and get chronicle sheets out tonight. I hope you all had fun with this one! I know I certainly did; this has quickly risen near the top of my list of favorite scenarios. Very well done!

Fantastic scenario. Fantastic players. Fantastic GM. Thanks everyone - I wasn't expecting Dalton to take such a strong role - but when it turned out we were dealing with fellow oreads it was a nice opportunity to try out the character.
I read the reviews for this scenario and apparently people don't feel there is enough motivation to help out the oread cause. I guess they missed the part about rescuing fellow Pathfinders...
| EndlessForms |
Or the part about a tyrant oppressing them for centuries for her own gain....
How is that not sufficient cause to help them?
Dalton Bodhi

Duh, or that too. I don't remember if those were from a GM or player. But if it was a player, maybe the GM didn't clarify what was happening. That's happened sometimes. Still, this really provides some excellent opportunities for combat and roleplaying. I think I'm going to go over and write up a review myself.
