Scarab Sages

A most unusual adventure for 1st-level goblin characters.

The Licktoad goblins of Brinestump Marsh have stumbled upon a great treasure—fireworks! Yet unfortunately for them, the tribe member responsible for the discovery has already been exiled for the abhorrent crime of writing (which every goblin knows steals words from your head). To remedy this situation, the Licktoads’ leader, His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad, has declared that the greatest heroes of the tribe must venture forth to retrieve the rest of the fireworks from a derelict ship stranded in the marsh. In order to prove themselves as the Licktoads’ bravest goblins, the PCs must complete a series of dangerous dares, from swallowing bull slugs and braving the dreaded Earbiter to dancing with Squealy Nord himself. Yet even once they’ve proven their mettle, the adventure is just beginning. For the ship in question is far from uninhabited, and Vorka the cannibal goblin would like nothing better than a few tasty visitors....

We Be Goblins! is an adventure for 1st-level characters in which the PCs play a horde of malicious and murderous goblins.

You can find the pregens here: Goblin pregens

This game is part of the Official Pathfinder Society PbP Game Day. For more information please follow the link here link.

The official start date of the PbP Game Day (and hence for this module) is on April 5th, 2014.

The PbP Game Day end date is July 5th, 2014.

This scenario can be replayed if the credit is applied to a lvl 1 character and can be applied once to a lvl 2 pfs character.

I've started with pbp's at the First pbp Gameday and as I believer in "playing-it-forward" I'm trying my hand for the first time at GM-ing a pbp now, so finding out how things work as I go along and starting with something relatively easy as We Be Goblins. I'm at GMT+1 and normally can check/post a few times a day. I expect players to post at least once per day, unless given prior notice (for example if you can't post on weekends, or going to be on vacation for a week).

First 4 people to sign up with pfs nr's they want to apply the credit to are in.

I've never played through the We Be Goblins scenarios, so I'd love to give it a whirl. While I've played PbF before, I've never done so on the Paizo forums, and I'm interested to give it a try.

I'd apply the credit to a new character, not yet created.

Sovereign Court

I'm definitely up for this. I'll be applying it to my half-elf rogue (PFS# 89501-3).

Id like to play this. Who can resist playing a goblin! :)
PFS No.: 59626-7

Scarab Sages

Nice to see we have at least 3 players. Shame we can't start now but have to wait for a month.

Goblins burn and goblins fight
Goblins turn and goblins bite

Eat the stew and chop the fight.

Burn the Elf and eat him too
We be Goblins, you be food!

Sign me up.

15001-16

Argh! I get t'play with Pirate Rob? Well shiver me timbers, that be a special treat!

Scarab Sages

K, up to 4 players. Nice, then we have all 4 pregens for maximum goblin mayhem ;)

And in case there are more people interested in playing, if we get enough I'm willing to run a second table.

looking forward :)

if we can choose beforehand:
Poog or Chuffy if i may :)

Scarab Sages

You have a little under a month to pick out a goblin to play ;)

I think that it's even allowed to have multiple of the same goblin at the table, under PFS rules I think you could even have 7 Poog's at once...which might be a bit.....disturbing, but legal.

It might be the most fun to have the 4 different ones, but you can play the goblin that you like most. You'd just have to come up with a different name if someone else has the same one.

Sovereign Court

I'll play Mogmurch if no one objects. I've never played an alchemist before and I'm curious to see how they work.

I'm happy to play any of the little anklebiters.

if you end up running another table, that Mogmurch fellow looks like a blast to play.

Scarab Sages

Only 3 more goblins and we have a second table ;)

If you're willing to run two tables, I'll happily sign up to play WBG.

How does the credit work? Does it just give a society character of the player's choice an extra XP point? Do I have to decide in advance what character to give the credit to?

Scarab Sages

2 down - 2 to go for a second table.

You will get a chronicle which you can apply to any lvl 1 or 2 character you have. Which will include 1 Xp and 1 prestige. As a "special" module you will even get this in case your goblin inexplicably dies (from random eating an alchemist bomb, running head first into a giant spike, leaping from the back of a horse and breaking his neck, ect.)

And you'll have to decide which character it will apply to after we've finished the scenario, right before I have to report it. I just asked for PFS nr's upfront so I'd know people actually have PFS nr's and are registered.

Sovereign Court

I'm interested.

Scarab Sages

k, so far we have;

Table 1;
Unknown Eidiology -
Hawkeye127 - Mogmurch
Pirate Rob - any anklebiter
Seth86 - Poog or Chuffy

Table 2;
Cuatroespada
ZanThrax
Nightdeath

One more and we'll have 2 tables

Oh! I didn't realize that no one on the second table had chosen their gob yet. I'd love to play Mogmurch. (Normally Alchemists don't interest me much. But an insane goblin alchemist? Oh yes, indeed.)

Scarab Sages

Well if we do end up with 2 tables we can shift people/goblins around if needed so that everyone can play the goblin they want without doubling up on them.

Sovereign Court

I'll take Reta.

i actually had wanted to play Mogmurch, Zan...

Sovereign Court

Well, I will express interest in this, then; that way, there is definitely a second table ;-)

Dibs on Chuffy!

Scarab Sages

cuatroespada wrote:

That is correct, I'd missed that one sorry. But it doesn't say you can't have more then 1 Mogmurch. You just have have to change the name to avoid confusion.

Scarab Sages

(Subject to change since we still have 2 1/2 weeks to go but so far;)

Table 1;
Unknown Eidiology -
Hawkeye127 - Mogmurch
Pirate Rob - any anklebiter
Seth86 - Poog or Chuffy

Table 2;
Cuatroespada - Mogmurch
ZanThrax - Mogmurch 2
Nightdeath - Reta
Luke_Parry - Chuffy

Now I just need to figure out how to make how to set up a double set of everything..but again, still have 2 1/2 weeks.

I think we'd be better off if I'm Poog. Two Mogmurches are likely to burn everything down while the rest of the team winds up dead.

Sovereign Court

lol. It could be worse. It could be 4 Poogs or 4 Mogmurches running around like the mad Goblins we are...

HEHEHE! YAH YAH! BOOOOOOM!

i like that! let's do that!

Sovereign Court

Serious? We might just blow ourselves up?? Actually.....why not?

I think it'd be suicidal.

So if Luke_Parry's in, then so am I.

Sovereign Court

I fear for the GM's sanity. lol

Sovereign Court

Hmmm... I would prefer to try and finish the module successfully, but it *is* a tempting idea ;-)

I will look at the stat blocks tonight, and think about it.

I just noticed that Seth is egging us on, while being signed up for one of the non-alchemist gobs at the first table.

Scarab Sages

Table composition is to subject change. I'm perfectly fine with making one table composed entirely made out of Mogmurchs and a more "normal" one.

ZanThrax wrote:

But we be goblins! Goblins be doing that stuff! Explosions are fun! As long as its another goblin explodin!

Sovereign Court

^
lol -0-

i was kidding, but if we really want to do that i'm probably down.

Sovereign Court

Hmmm... Well, a table of Mogmurchs *would* actually be fairly balanced in terms of their firepower quotient... at least until they ran out of bombs, and provided that they were played intelligently (unlikely, given that we are talking about goblins!).

That said, I think it would be a good idea to have a bit more balance in the party, but if the other players are *really* keen, I could certainly have my arm twisted :-)

Given that those of us (who aren't Seth) are pretty much unanimously saying "sure, if that's what everyone else wants to do", I don't think any of us would be disappointed by not doing it either. If I just play Poog and the rest of the table goes with their original choices, we'd be more likely to actually live to get credit for the scenario. (Which would be good since I assume we can't try again if we blow ourselves up.)

Sovereign Court

In that case, I will hang on to Chuffy :-)

Scarab Sages

Since this is a tier 1-2 modules there's infinite replay as long as you assign credit to a lvl 1 character.

So after we've played this and people would like to see what would have happend with a table full of Mogmurchs that's still possible..slightly insane, but possible ;)

Im up for a replay with just the goblin bomb squad

samsies.

also, just to make sure i understand correctly. can you no longer replay a tier 1-2 scenario at all once you've applied credit to a level 2 character. or can you continue to replay it only applying the credit to other level 1s?

Sovereign Court

Once you have applied credit for this module to a second level character (once as a player, and once as a GM), you can only ever thereafter apply it to first level characters.

Sovereign Court

So, I have a bit of a stupid question; how will we post with the pregens? Will we just post as ourselves, or will we create temporary aliases for them?

You can just create Temporay aliases for them.

Scarab Sages

I didn't know you could make an alias temporary, but I guess you can just make one and delete it later.

I think it's more "flavorful" if you make a goblin alias with a goblin picture, but it's up to you, mechanically I don't think it matters as long as you remember which picture/color/number/blob on the battle map is your goblin and what the others are

Wait, "temporary alias" is a thing? How do I create one?
