On Reta's turn (this assumes there's a melee going on, if not +4 to hit):
+1 animal bane arrow into melee: 1d20 + 8 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 3 - 4 = 8 animal bane arrow: 1d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + (6, 4) = 11
"SORRY, POOG!"
GM Crucible
Reta's shot goes wide as Poog tries to singe the boar. Poog's spell provokes an attack, but the board still misses. (I missed some AoO earlier. Oops.)
Gore: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Poog's fire singes the hog further, and helps fill the air with the smell of bacon. Moggy's acid vial hits (barely) doing further damage, and splashing a bit on Poog. (-3 to Poog)
Having taken all he can bear, the armored boar turns his curly tail and attempts to flee. Would provoke from Poog, but in looking back, I didn't see that Poog was armed. Or legged.
--ROUND 4--
Piggy (-38, hamming it up, and moving at half speed)
Chuffy
Poog (-13)
Reta

GM Crucible
Chuffy darts forward.
Poog races after the boar as well, but his javelin bounces off of armor.
Reta and Moggy?
It appears the boar is intent on running away unless you intervene.
Mogmurch da goblin
Moggy was really hoping on of the others would kill it without him having to use another alchemist's fire, but alas. He throws it at the foul beast.
RTA 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Boom. Pieces of pig go flying in several directions, some of it still encased in armor. Too bad none of you brought sauce for the ribs.
Combat is over.
As you search the body of poor Piggy, you find the gourd he was chugging still has about two doses remaining.
Please make sure you are tracking daily uses of fire, bombs, etc., and equipment used.

I don't mean to rush anyone's preparations following the previous battle, but I'll be out of pocket until late tomorrow, so I thought I'd get the stage set for the next scene.
As you approach the farm, you see a rickety wooden fence circling thick mud. (difficult terrain) Munchmeat Farm slumps in a soggy valley between two low tors. A slimy-looking creek winds through the farm, which is barely anything to look at. A house in the center of the fenced-in area leans against two hefty buttresses holding up three large beams. It’s balanced on numerous thick log stilts that create a cage-like hollow in the mud below the building. North of the house are a few filthy chicken coops, and to the west an upturned boat, propped against the fence, has been built into an impromptu shelter. A shed sits to the south of the building, and south and east of this shed are a few tired stretches of garden that look like they’re best at growing mud and weeds.
There is a single gate through the fence. The fence itself is poorly made, and might keep a goblin out for a short period, but not if the goblin were determined to overcome it.
Map is ready
GM Crucible
A single rickety farm gate allows passage through the wooden fence here (bottom of the map), below an archway made of broken branches and bleached bones.
A sign hangs from the arch, its words scrawled onto the wood with what looks like blood. Three severed, maggot-covered goblin heads sit on poles driven into the ground to the left of the gate. A second sign leans against these poles under the heads.
Both signs are written in Common.
The one hanging from the arch says, “Trespsrs wil b eatn!”
The one near the three goblin heads reads, “Yous gobluns taste YUM! Send moar gobluns!”
What do you do next?
GM Crucible
Exterior fog of war lifted.
Chuffy quietly circumnavigates the farm, reconnoitering and generally being sneaky.
Can I get a Perception check for areas #3 and #4, please?
Mogmurch da goblin
Totalled my expended ranged resources so far. I still have available one alchemist's fire, two acids, three bombs, two uses of the fire gourd, and a bead of force.
Moggy also has the CMW potion and five uses of sovreign glue, if we want to glue a couple of the doors shut on the farm, to make it easier on us.
GM Crucible
3
An upturned boat, an old river barge by the look of it, sits in the mud here. The boat’s stern has been built into the fence, and a large hole has been smashed in the southern side to provide entrance to the dark hollow created by the hull.
You hear an animal moving inside.
4
Three decrepit henhouses slump battered in the mud here. The nervous clucking of several chickens can be heard from within.
other
There is some other animal smell you don't recognize coming from near the farmhouse
Mogmurch da goblin
If Chuffy returns and tells the others about what he found, Moggy offers him up the pot of glue. "Chuffy want glue chicken house doors shut (if he heard something that might have been in there)? Not want fight whole farm at once!"
GM Crucible
To be clear, the farmhouse is in the middle. The chicken coops are on the north side.
I'm looking forward to hearing your plan.
Some Random Goblin
Well, sneak up the ?ramps and then liberally apply the glue to the doors? If Chuffy borrows the Cloak, his 'Take 10' Stealth is a very respectable 33. He might even be able to sneak a look into any windows that there are in the process...
GM Crucible
It's past my bedtime, but if that's the plan, I'll figure out the details tomorrow. The biggest question in my mind is how much glue that will take ...
GM Crucible
One ounce of this adhesive covers 1 square foot of surface, bonding virtually any two substances together in a permanent union.
... so, let's rule that's 12 linear feet per ounce (wow, that's a lot), given a 1" spread, and a doorways are (for the sake of expediency), 18 linear feet ... or 1.5 ounce to do a full door.
The farmhouse itself is oddly built. There appears to be an above-ground "basement" with stone walls. The main level of the farmhouse is above that, with an extension going west supported by stilts. The front door is the ramp from the north side going over the river. (The other things that look like ramps are supports for the raised house.)
The frame of the house itself is two stories above the stone basement (so the house is there stories in all).
I've added the levels of the farmhouse to the map, showing the doors/windows you can see from the outside.
So, provide some more specifics, including how you'll glue the tops of the doors (goblins are 3' and the doors are nearly 10') and how you'll reach the upper levels (if at all). Make some sneak rolls, climb rolls, or whatever else is appropriate, and position everybody as needed in case you get caught.
If you choose to climb the fence instead of use the gate, tell me where, and provide Climb or Escape Artist checks (depending on whether you're going over or through).
Except for the clucking of the chickens, everything seems silent at the moment...
Some Random Goblin
Chuffy will go in via the gate. He will then go around the western wall of building 2, and head for the basement door. He will then apply the glue. From there, he will work his way around the western wall of the house, cross the bridge, then climb the ramp to the first floor door, applying the glue to it. He will then head back to join the others.
Stealth 'Take 10' = 33.
The windows appear to be out of reach for the moment, sadly; we will have to climb up to the second floor deck.
Luckily, Reta has 20' of rope, which should be useful ;-)
GM Crucible
Are you only gluing the first four feet of the door? Do you plan to glue the top half of the doors, or is the bottom enough?
Poog of Zarongel - The_Lake
Poog will heal-stick himself, I assume sometime before they got to the barn but he could be doing it while Chuffy is sneaking around.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Ahh, is better. Ok so after door gluing then we what? Fight under boat thing? No need fight chickens me think.
GM Crucible
Yes, Poog did his healing before you all arrived.
Lots of dice to roll, but none could beat a 33.
Showing them all would give too much away, I think.
Chuffy is quite sneaky, especially with the borrowed cloak. The gate squeaks slightly, but no one seems to notice. He crawls through the brush so well hidden that even his companions don't seem him, except when he steps out of a shadow to glue the basement door. (South)
Chuffy, could I get two Perception checks, please?
Chuffy disappears from view again. The other goblins watch and wait, and are surprised when Chuffy re-emerges directly in front of them.
Three of five ounces used. Two doors glued shut.
Next time you sneak off I'll have you roll multiple Stealth checks. These are opposed checks, so no "taking 10".
What's next?
Some Random Goblin
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12.
I think next is all of us sneaking forward, and using Chuffy's grappling hook, and Reta's rope, to reach the top level's door.
GM Crucible
Okay (does anyone else confirm this course of action?). Sneak rolls from everybody, then. (Is Chuffy giving the cloak back?)
GM Crucible
additional minuses to these rolls for distance and obstructions. Bonuses for scent, in some cases.

The four of you make it to the west porch quite silently. Chuffy tosses the grappling hook up, and the four of you begin to climb.
DC 10 to climb a rope braced against a wall.

As you approach the door, Reta hear an occasional sqwaking from the roof above you.
Chuffy pulls out the glue to try and fasten the door, and finds the remaining glue has sealed itself to the lid of the container. It's now useless.
What now?
Reta Bigbad - End Girl
1 person marked this as a favorite.
"Chuffy so dumb he glued the lid on the glue!". Moggy tries to stay quiet, but he has a hard time not cackling at this.
"THAT WAY IT NO FALL OUT. JUST LIKE CHUFFY'S KNIFE FROM ITS SHEATH."
GM Crucible
The "door", such as it is, is poorly made, as is are the walls. It's not locked, and creaks constantly in the slight breeze.
It's about an hour until dusk, but inside you see a large ogre, sleeping on a large "bed", which is really nothing more than a nest made of old mattresses, loose straw, and mud. The fleas swarming on the “bed” are obvious from several feet away. A single trap door sits in the ceiling above.
The ogre is covered in pelts from cougars. Beside the bed is an elk skull mask/helmet with a broken antler. A spear rests in the corner.
Mogmurch da goblin
Is there a window or an opening that a bomb could be tossed through to roast the ogre all silent like? Or is the creaky door the only obvious way in (other than the trap door)?
