So, I didn't get a chance to play Maaarv in RL today. My boys and I spent the afternoon watching Pixar's Cars. It was a lot of fun.

Neb, thanks for the chronicle from Many Fortunes. I would like to do a bit of shopping once the briefing is over, if that’s all right. A 2PP CLW wand will be near the top of the list.

If you’re following along at home with HeroLab, I am going to swap out Eadie’s Dodge feat for Iron Will and replace the Indomitable Faith trait with Defender of the Society.

Maaarv, we had a family outing to see Pixar’s Monster’s U over the weekend. My girls enjoyed it!

Neb, I also reconfigured Maaarv a bit as he advanced to 2nd level. Swapped out Extra Bombs for Precise Shot. Decided to use the preferred class bonus for Hp instead of a skill point. That's about it.

Yep, I'm down for 1-2. If I was level 2 already I would consider playing up, but I'd rather not have Mik die just yet. :)

I also bought a CLW wand with 2PP, fyi. Nothing else has really changed.

Mella was updated slightly and bought a few things.

Jarlgur is updated. Haven't bought anything yet.

Have chalk, twine, wayfinder. Not sure what might be useful. Pondering it.

My kids aren't spoiled, they got to see Monsters U, two weekends ago, Despicable Me 2, last weekend, and we went a theme park near us yesterday. I have to admit I loved Despicable Me 2, I picture Jarlur casting Ray of Frost and saying Freeze Ray!

So, after the centipedes and now beetles, Maaarv is going to have a complex. Thanks, Neb. You've emotionally scarred an imaginary character. I hope you feel proud of yourself. ;)

Actually I do. Thanx for asking. I was chuckling to myself when I saw where you positioned yourself, then I randomly rolled to see who it would attack. The odds are never in your favor =v). I even rolled a "Will Save' to see if you would have a PTSD moment*, but you are RP'ing him fine.

BTW, a 5' step is a "non-action" So you still have a standard action to perform.

* (Yes I know I can't force your PC to have such a reaction mechanically, but I would kindly request it.)

Would a 20% miss chance be appropriate?

Just letting everyone know that I will be away this weekend (Thursday ~ Monday) at PAX Australia. I'm unsure about my internet connection in the hotel, but I hope to avail myself of some free Wi-Fi somewhere to keep up with things as much as I can. Worst comes to worst, I have my phone. But if I'm holding something up, do move for me.

You can't do an untrained Aid unless you can meet the DC yourself, do I have that correct?

This is the only language I could find on the matter:

In cases where the skill restricts who can achieve certain results, such as trying to open a lock using Disable Device, you can't aid another to grant a bonus to a task that your character couldn't achieve alone.

But I seem to have forgotten the part where one can only do untrained knowledge checks DC 10 or lower too. ;)

Also, who here has seen a Morlock before? Man, they are hideous. I bet they never get invited to any parties.

Has anyone read Greg Bear’s sci-fi novel Eon? Without getting spoilery, the bronze channel in Neb’s dungeon description reminds me of a similar aspect in that story.

Also, is it just me or is there a Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun vibe to the Tangle?

If anything, it reminds me of these Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks my friend got me for my road travels. They are like a Choose your Own adventure, but there mechanics that use a d6 and hit points. I swear, one of the books, there is only ONE way to get through it, everything else leads to death. Of course, even cheating, I couldn't find the right way. Looks like Allansia has death and destruction in its future.

People what are we doing! ? Roll your Disable, Rackle! Guys the DC changes each round, Neb has told as much and that is the d20 he keeps rolling. Everyone stick to rolling the strengths! Perhaps only two or three us should roll checks as each failed roll reopens the chutes...though it may be too late for that now...

Anyone got shirts or folios for rerolls?

Guys, I just want to apologize for the previous post. Not being able to read tone, it reads more harsh than I ever intended. That was out of character for me as a player and I'm sorry. Unfortunately, I am out of time sync with everyone else, so when I start my morning and begin checking posts, I'm still a little....cranky? Anyway again I apologize.

Not an excuse, but my temperment is also on edge because Ezrek my Lvl 5 Alchemist is probably about to die. Apparently he is playing in the upper tier of a 5-9, when I thought we were playing low tier. My fault for not asking as it wasn't discussed. "sniffles" I've yet to have a PC death and..."tear rolls down the cheek"...I not handling it as well as I would like..."bursts into tears".

Again, sorry, I hope most of you know me well enough to know that I'm not a whining, fit throwing player.

Is your GM aware that Ezrek is under contract to die by my hands? =v) I am going to have to bring this up at the next Evil DM meeting. I'm the treasure you know. I used to be the president, but I stepped down after the whole pit-trap/creeping death/wall of force incident.

That's what happens when you become a VL, you get a big target on your back. What? Nobody else tries to single out venture officers, kill their PCs, and place their character sheets on the mantle? Maybe its just a local thing.

I think the d20 dmg roll snafu should resolve a lot. Remember, stay back and lob bombs!

I think the other aspect to this puzzle is the very nature of the pbp medium makes it seem so much longer to wait to see what's going to happen. In RL this would be over in, what? 15 minutes? Here we’re waiting longer, which makes it more stressful I think.

Thanks Eadie and everyone. Though of course now it is evident that some of my frustration was based on a wrong assumption. So now that just makes me foolish. Hey, what are ya gonna do? It's just one of those days.
