Onix tries to headbutt the leech off of him, but the creature resists becoming stunned. That is only a temporary setback, however, as Mark and Darius work together to quickly cut the parasite into pieces. As it dies the mouth releases Onix and what's left of its body crashes into the water.

Thanks for the heal earlier, btw Tamisiel!
Darius breathes a sigh of relief and looks over the others.
"Onix, that bite looks pretty bad. do you feel alright? After we tend to you, I suppose we'd better press on, though. Dangerous place, this. And we haven't all the time I'd like, either."
Will resume place in front of marching order once healing is complete, and follow search SOP.

Onix nods his head hesitantly before leaving the water.
| GM Harker |
Tamisiel heals the obvious injuries to her comrades, but Onix is still left with a slight feeling of weakness after the leech was able to siphon from blood from him.
Meanwhile, Darius takes a quick check of the room while the rest of the party mills forward to the next door.
Darius, do you climb into the tree to examine it or just check it from the water?
Tamisiel

Not trusting the others to do it Tamisiel will search the room after healing the injured.
Room: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Tamisiel will physically check the tree and even cutting off a small branch if possible.

| GM Harker |
After a closer examination, both Darius and Tamisiel discover scum covered leather satchel crammed among the banyan tree's roots. Within is a watertight scroll tube made of horn containing a scrap of parchment with a hastily scrawled note: “We lost Gavreth, Kehm, and Nars in the Hall of the Flesh Eaters. Before he died, the wizard claimed the horror is a work of necromancy. I know it at least responded to holy water, so that means we should be able to—“ The rest of the note is smeared and illegible.
Also inside the satchel are a pair of sandals made out of wyvern leather. They radiate a magical aura when checked with Detect Magic.
They are sandals of quick reaction
Tamisiel

Fool. What idiot thinks its a grand idea to scrawl something on pieces of paper while their life is in danger. Tamisiel says after reading the not aloud.
| GM Harker |
Eventually the group moves forward through the halls, and checks the next door. Finding no traps, Darius opens the door and sees a cathedral-like hall with a vaulted ceiling supported by eight square pillars. Dominating the middle of the hall is a huge mound of undulating gray-green flesh covered with weeping scarlet boils. The entire mass stinks of a weeks-old corpse.
Squatting in front of the 10 feet tall fleshy ball are 6 individuals feeding relentlessly on its disgusting mass. They all look mostly dead and all have extremely long tongues. Two of the members are completely hairless. So enthralled in their 'feast', they don't seem to notice you at all.
Two Knowledge (religion) checks to identify. The 2 hairless ones (black, yellow) are a different creature than the 4 others.
There is also a door in the northwest wall, and a rubble choked passage to the southwest.

What are we using for a light sorce and who has it?
IF someone has a lit torch
Seeing that the monsters are enthralled and have yet to notice them Tamisiel hold up her hand, motioning for the part not to move. reaching into her pouch she retrieves a pellet grenade, showing it to the rest of the group. Keep them close to the sphere.
If no one has a torch out I'll take out a alchemist fire instead. If no one has any light sources out I would have cracked a sunrod when we first entered the dungeon.
| GM Harker |
There are some skylights in each of the rooms you've been in so far that let in dim light from the outside. The windows are only about a foot wide at their terminal end. To avoid worrying about dim light penalties, I'll assume Tamisiel brought out a sunrod earlier unless someone has an alternate light source they wish to use.
Although she has never encountered anything like this before, Tamisiel thinks the flesh ball is some type of necrotic polyp. It looks like it's a renewable food source for the creatures feasting on it. With its association with diseased undead, it's probably not wise to touch it.
Furthermore, she identifies the two groups of undead as festrogs and ghouls respectively. Festrogs, aka dog-ghouls, are hairless and covered in pustules. They tend to run on all four limbs and knock over their enemies when they charge. When hit with a piercing or slashing weapon, their pustules spray diseased pus on their attackers. If they successfully bite their target, they devour the flesh and grow stronger.
Ghouls can paralyze individuals by touching them, although elven blood makes you immune to this. Also, their bite spreads a disease that, if it kills you, turns you into a ghoul.
Dieb Geist
|
Once one of the weak-eyed humans would've complained about poor light, Dieb would've lit his lantern. It can be used to set on fire whatever your pyromaniac heart wants. =)
Dieb grimaces at the stench and the odds. Of course they need to kill them all, but so many at once is stiff odds. Seeing Tamisiel take out a grenade, he catches the idea and gets out a flask of Alchemist Fire.

dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 1 piercing it is now 9:00 pm in my time and the visitation hours for the showing went great, more people than I expected.
seriously, mark is suppose to be a sharp shooter and this happens to him.
Just though I'd post my round 1 as well, because I have no idea how buys tomorrow will be or when I will get home, so I'd though I'd speed things up.
Zathran

Incoming momentarily. Busy day yesterday. First, though, a brief retcon.
When reading the note found in the tree, Zathran says to Tamisiel, "Not an idiot at all; simply somebody with a view beyond their own life. This is, after all, the immortality we seek as Pathfinders. And, we should be grateful they did, for it has given us some information...."
Re: light sources, Zathran would be using his Wayfinder for light.
Zathran
|
Zathran circles around a nearby pillar, approaching the yellow-background enemy, and attacks it with his warhammer. He makes a mental note to study up on undead next time he is back at the Pathfinder Lodge, so that he can be a proper Lore Warden and make more knowledge checks....
Unfortunately, he distracts himself with his future plans, and his elbow hits the pillar he's next to, making his attack completely ineffectual.

Tamisiel, could you move your icon into the room or tell me where you wish to be? At your current location the 17 will miss due to range penalties.
Although Zathran has trouble hitting due to a pillar in the way, Darius cuts the female(?) festrog in half. The top half continues to chew on a polyp morsel for a few disturbing moments before finally ceasing.
Dieb, Onix, as well as Tamisiel's potential movement.

sorry, updating from my iPad since my Pc is down. I can't seem to update the map. I moved 30ft straight into the room. I should be within 20ft.
| GM Harker |
Tamisiel advances into the room and tosses her alchemist fire at one of the ghouls, covering the disgusting creature in a sticky, burning liquid. The other nearby ghoul and the polyp are both hit with the minor splash.
Slipping on some unidentifiable grim on the floor, Onix is unable to land his punch.
Dieb also tosses a vial of alchemist fire at the remaining festrog, burning the creature quite severely and splashing the polyp.
Despite losing one of their numbers and others being hit with splash weapons, the undead continue their gluttonous feast and ignore the party. The splash burns on the polyp appear to quickly close, leaving minor scars.

Zathran says as he continues the attack, "This is weird; we're attacking these undead monstrosities, and yet they remain fixated on this... thing... that they're eating. What is it? Does it pose a mind control threat to us?"
As he says this, he moves forward and around to attack the white-background ghoul (or whatever it is).

If not, at worse we might slay them later, at our leisure. For now, let us focus our attention on that great growth."
Dieb ignores the eaters and focuses on the Polyp, throwing a disrupting ball at it, to see how it reacts.

"Peace? Those wretched blighters are longing for Pharasma's sweet embrace! Still, have it your way. But I won't leave more than one."
Darius will move to dispatch another undead if possible, but leave those on the far side undamaged.
My attacks will depend on which enemy remains standing after the rest of the group is done. My order of preference is as follows: 5-foot step and attack white, 5' step and attack green; or move and attack blue.
TWF 1 on white or green: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
TWF 2 on white or green: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Damage 2: 1d6 ⇒ 5
If I have to move to attack blue, please use attack & damage roll 1.
| GM Harker |
Onix pummels the ghoul Tamisiel already hit with alchemist fire, finishing off the creature.
The investigator tosses another flask of exploding liquid on the already flaming festrog, continuing its slow burn.
With his allies in way, Mark's next arrow strikes the floor rather than its intended target.
Zathran and Darius work together to destroy the ghoul next to them, with warhammer and gladii respectively.
Dieb suggests observing the creatures in case there is something to be learned from them, while burning the polyp with acid. The energy attack appears to have slightly damaged the ball of flesh, albeit not as well as the spell should have, and the polyp quickly heals itself.
Unfortunately, the creatures' horrific reverie comes to end as the remaining undead pull themselves away from the polyp and advance on the party. The ghoul (blue) in front of Onix bites into one of the Oread's arms taking a hunk of rocky flesh with him and paralyzing the monk. The burning festrog (black) takes advantage of the monk's plight and chomps down on him as well. Onix, you take 7 damage from the ghoul and 5 damage from the festrog for a total of 12 damage and are paralyzed for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 rounds. I rolled your paralysis save since it was necessary to determine the festrog's action but I'll need a Fortitude save against disease.
The other ghoul (red) moves along the east wall to get within 15 feet of Dieb and hungrily stares down the arcanist.

Reinvigorated from eating part of Onix, the (black) festrog withstands both the lingering alchemist fire damage and the injury from Zathran's warhammer to stay on his feet.
Miss square: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Tamisiel's next alchemist fire misses the nearby (red) ghoul, but does hit the wall behind him, soaking him in some of the splash. That ghoul takes more significant damage from Dieb's spell as two force projectiles hit him in the chest.
Darius, Mark
| GM Harker |
Darius slices into the closest blue ghoul to him, while Mark takes out the other red ghoul with a headshot.
Darius' target returns the favor by biting the rogue and paralyzing him. With another aggressor out of the way, the ghoul moves around to become adjacent to Zathran and Tamisiel. 6 Damage to Darius and paralyzed for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds. I already made the paralysis save, please make the save versus disease.
The festrog moves 5' to take advantage of a flank with the ghoul to try to hit Zathran with a bite and 2 claws. Only one claw is able to hit the nimble-footed fighter, however, which leaves a small gash in his side. 4 Damage to Zathran from the claw.
