Oiur
|
Oiur moves alongside the door frame, expecting Ibb to stand opposite them.
The big man walks directly up to it.
GM Dennis
|
Why, yes there is.
Ibb opens the door to find a cramped room, most of its space occupied by four rudimentary bunks and two wooden chests. Despite the lack of room, the area has been kept neat and relatively clean.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy steps in and detects for magic. He also eyes those wooden chests.
"We might have found us some bonus loot."
GM Dennis
|
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy will casually step over to the chest by the door and check it for traps.
Trapfinding: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
GM Dennis
|
Rowdy finds no traps. He also finds no lock. It's not until he looks inside that he finds something: a potion (the source of the aura), 100 feet of silk rope, and jewels and loose coins of various denominations totaling to 83 gp.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy will attempt to figure out what the heck this potion is.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
GM Dennis
|
Rowdy examines the potion and determines it to be a potion of cure light wounds.
Sir Ibb
|
Ibb will move down into the hallway.
Irp, is it time for badger to be sneaky again?
Oiur
|
Oiur grunts in interest at the rope, then coils it up and places it in their pack alongside the recovered valuables. Any signs of documents or paperwork amongst everything?
"I expect Serena's made enough noise to make that unnecessary!"
They move into the hallway and bring their lights with them.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy grins at Oiur's suggestion.
"Just 'cause they knew where we were, don't mean they know where we're going." Plus, he just likes sneakin'!
Rowdy attempts to sneak up to the door and listen.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Also, Rowdy has that potion of cure light unless someone else wants it.
Eugressia Biogon
|
Eugressia shudders moving past the altar and joins her friends in the next room.
GM Dennis
|
Rowdy sneaks up to the door and listens, but does not hear anything.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy checks the door for traps.
Trapfinding: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy signals that the door is clear and steps back.

----------------
While searching the previous room, Oiur hummed a slightly zippier tune than usual.
Happy birthday Dennis!
----------------
Oiur brightens at an idea, and taps Ibb on the shoulder
"Scared gophers are easier to hit. Let's make a grander entrance this time—I'll sing, you open the door."
When their companions are assembled and ready, Oiur clears their throat and begins their low-pitched drone. They strike a gatecrasher's rhythm against the door, each heavy blow jarring it in its frame, before taking a step back to make room for Ibb.
Starting up raging song the round before Ibb opens the door, if you're cool with that!
Sir Ibb
|
Ibb grins when Oiur starts his song; he yanks open the door and begins to accompany the Skald, out of tune, with the first verse of a new take on an old schoolyard ditty.
Great green globs of greasy, grimy golfblin guts,
Old winter wolf meat,
Chopped up gopher feet.
Eugressia Biogon
|
Eugressia chuckles and hums along quietly.
GM Dennis
|
Ibb opens the door and bellows into a room quickly filling with opaque mist.
Beneath the the song and the hammer blows, you can hear an unnaturally low and rough voice speaking in a language none of you understand.
Oiur: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Ibb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Rowdy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Eugressia: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Initiative round 1:
Rowdy, Oiur, and Eugressia may act. This may get a little awkward with the mist and you not being able to see anything more than 5ft out. To help mitigate, please let me know as part of your post what you would do if you come upon something/someone in the mist.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy, not knowing what he's faced with, and seeing Ibb in the way, will delay!
Kn:Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Eugressia Biogon
|
Knowledge(arcana): 1d1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
This is an odd fog. I don't like this at all.
Eugressia pulls out a wand, but waits for her companions to go in first.
Ready magic missile if I see an enemy.
Oiur
|
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
If the mist is a spell effect, can we roll Spellcraft? Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
The mist shift and coruscate like a strange aurora as the multicolored lights follow the wiry musician into the room. They seek the source of the rough voice; assuming it appears and is hostile, they'll try to forcefully silence it.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 to find the voice source.
Possible swing: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15 damage.
Move: try to take cover behind Ibb, move towards voice.
Standard: swing the earth breaker at anything that pops up -or- take another move action to get closer to the voice.
Feel free to move Oiur in whatever directions seem most appropriate, Dennis!
GM Dennis
|
Technically I believe it's knowledge (arcana) to identify a spell already in effect, Spellcraft to identify a spell as it's being cast.
Can you clarify: are you delaying for Ibb (it's not his turn yet)? Or do you want me to resolve this turn now?
Oiur
|
Whoops, missed he was after me in the order. Oiur will move in and resolve their turn first!
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Sorry, I'm delaying for Ibb to move.
GM Dennis
|
You have trouble identifying the source of the mist. Too bad; it sure is obscuring your vision.
The mist coupled with Ibb's 'song' make it difficult to make out the source of the voice, though once they are in the room they can tell it seems to be coming from the eastern part of the room. Oiur moves forward into the room, until a workbench littered with bones emerges from the mist in front of them. They turn to the right and head east until they hit a stone altar. Looking up, they spot a hobgoblin form in the mist, seemingly the source of the voice, just to the south of the altar. Your armored speed is 20ft, right? If so, it's a double move by any path to that point.
Eugressia readies to cast should an enemy present themselves, but none come into view.
Rowdy waits for Ibb to make his move.
The hobgoblin, seeing Oiur emerge from the fog, stops speaking and darts away from them, melting into the mist and out of sight.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Once away, the voice starts up again, this time with the rhythm of a spell being cast. No spellcraft to identify, I'm afraid, since none of you can see them.
Initiative Round 1/2:
Party may act.
Irp
|
The bird can make knowledge checks
Know(Arcana): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
The bird sighs. Sooner the mist's gone, sooner we stop listening to Ibb's poetry.
Sir Ibb
|
Ibb will take 10' of movement into the room — can he see anything from this position on the map (current position)?
If he cannot gain a direction from sound or sight, he will move another square North. If he can't hear/see anything from there, he will more one square to the East.
This would complete the movement portion of his turn.
Eugressia Biogon
|
Question: I could use Breeze-Kissed to create a gust of wind once per day to bullrush or trip an enemy, and then lose the AC bonus for the rest of the day. Would you allow me to use that to clear out some fog, even temporarily? It's not listed in the ability, but seems like it could work thematically.
GM Dennis
|
GM Dennis
|
@Eugressia: Sure, that seems reasonable. I think it would act as a line effect, as per the spell gust of wind.
Irp
|
CHIRP! Over here!
Oiur
|
Brain's mush from writing all day, short post. And yep, 20t. move!
Oiur attempts to determine the hobgoblin's new position, and shout directions to the others so that they can try to hem the creature in. Their rhythmic hammer blows continue the bracing effects of their song, and hopefully at least one will have a bracing effect on the hobgoblin.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Possible swing: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13 damage.
Move action: wade through pea soup towards an unseen adversary, flanking if possible!
Standard action: smash a seen adversary -or- continue wading!
Sir Ibb
|
Birdy words in misty mist, stupid voice —
Why you try to hide?
Ibb's butter knife's your friend and guide
within 5'? If not I would step as close as possible using my remaining 10' of movement.
Power attack, Nodachi + 7 -1 Power Attack +1 Raging Song: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
You want to roll miss % or should I?
20% Miss chance, Low is bad for Ibb: 1d100 ⇒ 82

Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Once Ibb has moved, Rowdy will come back in.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Hmm, I was going to move in and try to burning hands the mist away. But I think I'll hit Ouir, but Rowdy may not know Ouir is there? Sorry Oiur! If Rowdy would know, then he'll ready for Oiur to move.
"Let's try to burn some a this away."
A cone of fire shoots from Serena's barrel. Or doesn't yet...
Burning Hands: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 2) = 7 DC 15 Reflex save for half
GM Dennis
|
@Rowdy: which direction are you firing your cone? You see Ibb directly in front of you, and hear Oiur singing off to the east somewhere, so you can act as if you know that. I've made some 15ft cone templates on the map slide. Can you give me your ready condition and place a template where you're firing?
Eugressia Biogon
|
Eugressia moves in. Collecting the winds swirling around her, she gestures with both arms and a mighty gust of wind whooshes past her party.
Attempting to clear the top row.
Oiur
|
I'm uncertain on the sequence of events, and who or what should be where, but:
-sounds like Irp chirped the enemy's location; Oiur will move thataway
-if anyone else's actions reveal more precise info, Oiur'd act on that
-no worries if Oiur gets hit by burning hands!
Since I'm not quite sure what's up, Dennis, are you good moving Oiur on the map?
EDIT: we could say Rowdy shouts something informative, and Oiur delays their turn until after he casts the spell?
GM Dennis
|
I'll move Oiur. I'd like to better understand what Rowdy is doing before resolving everything.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Thanks for the templates Dennis. I've placed one. Rowdy will ready Until he thinks Ouir is out of the way.
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Actually, the cone may need to be flipped around. Sorry, I'm on my phone at lunch!
GM Dennis
|
Ibb steps forward, taunting the golfblin with a rhyme. As the figure resolves into view his 'butter knife' crashes down upon them, despite the reduced visibility.
Rowdy follows Ibb in, ready to unleash Serena to clear out some mist once he figures out where Oiur is.
Eugressia follows in as well and unleashes a blast of air along the southern edge of the room, clearing away the mist.
Oiur steps forward (becoming visible to Rowdy), toward the sound of the casting hobgoblin and swings their earthbreaker, but is unable to connect.
As soon as Oiur steps forward, Serena erupts in flame, burning away some of the mist behind them. You had the template backwards. The corner shape would hit Oiur, so I substituted the straight-ahead template. If you would choose not to fire at all in that case, that's fine too.
The hobgoblin focuses on her spell, but Ibb's blow, coupled with Oiur's approach and Serena's roar prove to be too much (loses the spell).
Concentration, DC 24: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Instead, she attempts to defend herself while casting again, but again the spell fizzles.
Casting defensively, DC 17: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Initiative round 2/3:
Party may act.
Eugressia Biogon
|
Stay calm. It's just mist. Your friends are in it, and they're fine.
Eugressia moves forward into the fog, and flicks her wand at the hobgoblin.

"We are not afraid."
Fog alone cannot dampen Oiur's heavy footfalls and jarring hammer blows. Song-infused mists twist into frantic whorls at each impact, and Eugressia's streaking missile guides Oiur towards the hooded goblinoid.
The hammer spins overhead: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 and crashes into the junction of the figure's neck and shoulder. 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Hey, I think I actually hit!
Rowdy Copperpelt
|
Rowdy loads a bullet into Serena and steps to the left.
"We got ya cornered," he says, aiming into the mist. [/ooc] "Best surrender and tell us what ya know." He readys to shoot the hobgoblin should she attempt to flee, but he wouldn't shoot blindly into the mist with his friends in there. He's not that good of a shot!
Sir Ibb
|
I think Ibb goes after the hobgoblin. If it 5' steps to cast, Ibb will use Step Up to stay in range and threaten any spell casting.
