Captain Steves Super Soldier

Go for it if you want, Cap would prefer to avoid violence when possible.
Edited: Also moved Cap, as I said he moved in to support Suli.

Are you serious? Are you suggesting the Jedi were good guys?!?
:)
Hmmm... Might need to watch SW again. It's been a while and a new one is coming in six months...

So you said "damage to creatures with the fire subtype". Does that mean it is fire damage or does damage to fire creatures?

What are the portals made of?
Please note these kind of questions can really slow down PbP.
At a table
- I give an answer,
- then you ask can I try X action.
- then I explain it is possible.
- Then you say I will try that.
- Then I say make an Y (& please roll the dice),
- or then I say that it would take this check to determine if it is possible.
- Then you would roll the dice
- then you would declare a reroll if you want one.
- then I would tell you if you succeed
Even better, at the table I can infer that you would like to make X action and ask you to make Y roll at the same time. In PbP, with one post a day, this could be a week.
It is much more helpful if a short question like this includes some of the reasoning behind it, or what actions might the answer lead to. For example
Wondering if reaching through the portals would cause her arm to burst into flame she asks, "What are the portals made of?"
or
"What are the portals made of?" she asks wondering if these rings match the necklace she purchased in the Diamond City last week.
or
Wondering if she can cut through the rings with her dagger she asks, "What are the portals made of?" and includes an appropriate Knowledge check since what she really is asking is what the hardness of the rings are and that is meta-game knowledge.
Also if/then statements are our friends. :)

Side note: I will be in Moscow this Saturday if peeps want to get together. I will be arriving Friday and leaving Sunday.

Think I will too, but you know where to find me on Saturday :)

Much like the Library of the Lion (hence my reference to Glorymane) this mechanic measures success in time. Completing the task has a DC and beating the DC by X shortens the time.
If it helps, at the end of minute five:
First portal: Jury rigging (complete), uncoiling augmentation wires (complete):
Second portal: Jury rigging(complete), uncoiling augmentation wires (complete)
Third portal: Jury rigging (complete), uncoiling augmentation wires (in process).
Fourth portal: removing battery packs (in process)
Fifth portal: smashed, leaking radiation and heat.
Sixth portal: broken, or rather no attempts have been made to repair/hijack this one. It is immediately obvious if anyone attempts to work on it.
Like most dungeon crawls, when you cross a threshold an encounter begins Like most time crawls when you a cross a threshold, an event happens. So bear with me just a bit longer. Right now not everyone is in the same chamber minute. If you have any questions, please know that I can not see your puzzled face. So please ask (call from 1:30-6) or text if you want a speedier answer.)
EDIT: average on CLW is a house rule, so are non-PFS. Also since we are in a game-time timed adventure, it kind of matters. Also since this is PbP, it doesn't save any RL-time :)
Now that I think about it where were the first 10 min/level spells cast?

Was gone the fast few days at a family restort without internet. Usually i come back and check now and then and see 0 or 10 posts-- but 17 is wow.
Majority of our buffs will last one hour from the elevator... little longer. So unless the elevator was enormously long i don't feel we've spent that much time idling.

Cap & Suli, were the icons I moved. Ed & Pinpi need saves if they have tech gear.
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
I will give the others until tomorrow, mostly because I did not have the laptop on all day. It looks like Ember is delaying?
If you (E&P) have any e-tech, you will need to make the save. If you don't have any don't worry about, but you can't just ignore the save. I thought Ed put on one of the suits, but one advantage to PbP is the ability to see what was posted :)
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
The campaign info thread is accurate, though I did not put flavor on it. Portal three is the closest to being deactivated, with engineering, disable device and strength checks all successful. Most of the others have engineering and disable device. Suli, Cap, Pinpi all got interrupted in their task (minute ten).
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Pinpi can you please post your character sheet for me? Preferably in your profile please?
I figure 'mixing various volatile chemicals' requires two hands, meaning it doesn't work in the grapple. Grapple allows a light or one-handed weapon, but not thrown weapons. I see that Swift Bombs allows the Two Weapon Fighting & Rapid Shot feats to function, but can't find anything definitive as to it being a one handed or two handed action. A bow for example, is two handed, but obviously works with Rapid Shot. TWF implies one of the bombs is in your off hand, but that could mean you mix & toss one, then mix & toss the other.
Seen any rulings? Thoughts?
| Flaming Duck |
Alchemy is a Supernatural ability and only requires a single hand. I don't have the ruling off-hand, but it acts more like spell casting in this instance - that is, it is not a weapon. Think of it like a weapon-like spell, such as scorching ray. You can use scorching ray in a grapple, albeit with a concentration check, and STILL get to make the ranged touch attack that might provoke. Bombs are supernatural, but still provoke (per their description), if Tig-0 threatens while grappling, but don't require a concentration check since they are supernatural.
Short answer, bombs are weapon-like supernaturals, not weapons.
| Flaming Duck |
The other point, if you demand that Alchemists use two hands for one of their keystone and primary abilities, is you are essentially saying that alchemists cannot be armed except for natural attacks or armor spikes (which they aren't even proficient in!) and meanwhile, wizards can wield daggers and quarterstaff while casting fireball. Supernatural abilities are more like spells than weapons :)
If your imagination cannot wrap your head around it still, consider as an example:
I flavor my alchemist, Hein, as making his bombs from clay-like or putty-like chemicals - he's grenadier after all, why not use C4? So one hand comes off his crossbow and dips into his munitions pouch (so selecting the type of bomb), and then quickly scoops up a bit of primer from another pouch and mashes them together with the liquid catalyst. I can see that happening in 3 seconds with only one hand :). Pinpi, of course, may use completely different alchemical ingredients, but the mechanics will be the same at a per-round basis :).

So basically suggestion serves no purpose, because the robot is immune to a changed directive.... we'll be forced to fight because we can't not dismantle the portals and it won't let us even after being (essentially) mind controlled.
What if it were given the "Wait for us back at the entrance" suggestion?
:|
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Suggestion stopped him from fighting. That's not 'no purpose.'
| Flaming Duck |
It is no purpose. You've nerfed it because it prolongs combat without actually altering anything. We can buff more, and that's about it. I can try more suggestions like Kro proposes but ultimately if the GM hates mind controlling effects, then Ed is screwed a bit :(
I can also try suggesting Tig go dismantle the Azers, or wait in the anteroom for 30 minutes, but am still wasting spells on things the GM is apparently gonna nerf if it's not a "reasonable suggestion"...
| Flaming Duck |
I guess I could also spam Charm Monster until it sticks, and then just use the opposed charisma check to shut the robot up. I still have my reroll, just in case, and it'd avoid delving into table variance too much.
Or we could just murder hobo the robot. Because murder hobo is the way of the pathfinder.
What does everyone else want to do?
Kroama
|
Maybe it's like... because it's being controlled by another creature in the same sense zombie control can get confusing?
Usually charisma checks are good then then to dictate whose orders it will follow for a particular action-- if it's so strongly engrained that it cannot disobey this other individual that a single will save won't suffice... those are usually reserved for charms though.
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
You don't have to cast again. If you want to change what the suggestion is, that's no problem. I just went with what was there. Dominate is a 5th level spell, suggestion is 3rd. There is a difference & 'obey me' crosses into dominate.
Kigvan
|
A couple of things from my perspective:
First, turning suggestion (a 3rd level spell) into Dominate (Person is 5th, Monster is 9th) is unreasonable, hence my support of Obey Me is beyond the scope of the spell.
Second, this particular scenario has some specific instructions the Scott showed me that limit what happens if Tig gets conflicting instructions.
Kigvan

Not sure really, looks like if we want to keep disabling the portals we don't have much choice. The only other option seems to be waiting and seeing what happens, hoping we disabled enough to have them not go boom!
Overall though it looks like conflict with Tig is inevitable to me.
| Flaming Duck |
That's what I meant. I can't see us disabling portals in combat, so if we all take a moment to position ourselves and before resuming, maybe we can mob Tig-0 into scrap before he does much of anything. As long as we don't actually attack or fix a portal we are paused, apparently.
Ed and Pinpi were both intent on hitting themselves with wands, but that is over multiple rounds, so are we in pseudo-rounds?
Sulii

I mean, if Ed tells Suli what element to use and to punch, Suli will go to town on Tig.

Wow, just saw the picture of the new guy. BADASS!
I thought so too. On the white background of the PDF I couldn't see the flames. It looks better here. :)

Sorry all, no internet today. I'll have a real post tomorrow. If you haven't already, roll initiative. Jethzarai is flying. He is five feet up, so currently reachable, but keep that in mind.
Pinpi IC you missed a sense motive roll & one or two engineering rolls, so you will be confused. OOC ask questions so I can address the confusion.

Ed's fingers fly over a console and she quickly discovers the purpose of this room.
In its heyday, this room shimmered with the heat of extraplanar fire. The six small portals (the rings on the northern wall) fed constant streams of lava from the Plane of Fire into the pool on the southern side of the
room, providing power to the giant elliptical gate, which in turn powered the production of Karamoss’s army of automated soldiers."Danger! Danger! Danger!" shouts Tig-O. His voice is still cool and calm but comes through much more clearly now. Someone has irresponsibly overpowered the portals; if activated in this state, the portals are likely explode. Mirroring what Ed just said Tig-O makes a new command. "Maintenance robots: New directive. Dismantle these portals before it is too late."
It is up to you how to dismantle them.
"Danger," the droid repeats. As if to punctuate the urgency, a light around the first portal blinks red then goes solid and "pings" audibly. A moment later the next portal does the same, then the next and so on down the line.
Reposting the function of the room as it has been a while in RL.

Sorry, my stats are on the first page of the gameplay
If it is alright I'd like to do my turn a little differently. Though there is no need to retcon, can just move my initiative
