As Daemina and Yyrkoon make their attempts at looking bold, aided by the slightly better attempt of Juan and Caikahn, the cheery look on the man's face fades. For a moment, he looks about to burst, and the place falls silent. Then, the man bursts out in a laughter Whahahaa... charnal house... classic. You know what, I realize the trouble I'm causing. Free drink for whoever of you wants to participate.

now that is some expert writing there. Was right at the edge of my seat with that one. I stole the line from a rarther lame video as a intro to a boardgame, but I do still love that line despite the video being kinda crap. DragonStrike!

Nothing. I have it. I'm really blank on this. Juan would fail horribadly at drinking, and I haven't seen anyone say OOOH, pick ME! I can't suggest Plan B here, but can't leave without some sort of resolution to move it forward. Plan B for 'BEAT the snot out of the winner and take it from them after' -- it is Riddleport, after all.

"I guess we should all have a go at it ... maybe with enough attempts we get lucky?"
If not ... we go to plan B
Daemina has no problem with Plan B. Plus we are meant to be representing the Consortium. Best we act like the biggest, most vile people in the world.
Daemina, annoyed and shocked at this man not being afraid of her shrugs it off as she looks to the group.
"I won't take the free beer if I am competing. How else will I win?" she states begrudgingly, her third eye closing as she appears to relax.
DM Kludde
You need a strength check first: easy for a stool, medium for a table, hard for a sideboard, followed by a sleight of hand to not spill any drink (easy for three cups, medium for six, hard for nine). The drinking itself comes later
While the party waits, the first of the Publican House's folk steps forward. Fisheye Fwerd, your first to try the high publican says.
Yeah, the bulging-eyed man says, I'll try a stool with six cups. Let's go!
Str: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Dex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Fwerd fails miserably - he doesn't even get the stool off the ground before the first cup spills over.
I'm sure you can do better :)
Daemina The Marked
|
Daemina rolls her eyes. It's obvious why she had no interest in the vile stuff.
"I'll do the table for three cups." she states as she makes her attempt.
Str: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Slight of Hand: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10 as you said slight of hand and not simply dex it'll be with this negative.
I believe this is why he failed. "Do or do not. There is no try."
DM Kludde
Daemina succeeds... at making the floor a sticky mess, but Caikahn manages to set a score just barely lifting the stool and keeping the cups in balance.
I'm sure someone can do better Rolf says, getting carried away, and sure enough "Big" Arvin Dalson steps up and tries for a table with three cups, but gets nowhere.
STR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
SOH: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Well, looks like the Aspis have it, then, Rolf says as he declares Caikahn the winner, and hands her the cup all yours, then. No hard feelings, right?

"Arrr. Pleas'r doin' business, matey!"
Juan is quietly thankful that the aasimar was able to pull that off, because the alternative could have gotten messy.

High publican Rolf only mutters a Yes, Ma'am... as the group leaves.
There's the house of the silken veil, as well as the Fish Bowl left
DM Kludde
The Fish Bowl stands along the river atop a high stone base. Well-worn stone stairs ascend the stone base to access the temple above, but a chain has been drawn across the bottom of the stairs to block easy access. From the street, it is difficult to see anything occurring in the temple at the top of the platform. Only a few dim lights flicker up in the temple, and a narrow tower or lookout post rises above it.
Yyrkoon D'Imrryr

"Looks like they don't want visitors."
Cast Mage Hand to drop the chain barring access ...
DM Kludde
Yyrkoon moves away the chain, but as he moves up to the platform, he sees the bodies of two dead acolytes, ritual knives in hand.
Two nasty aquatic creatures crawl about.

Strange, the numbers were different when I types them in. Right now, it looks like a hit on Dameina, not Yyrkoon, which would mean Daemina is grappled.
So: last round Daemina takes 4 damage (and makes her save - I'll count that Yyrkoon roll for her - and she is grappled
Daemina swings inaccurately at the monster, while Juan readies to heal any hurt to his party members. Yyrkoon swing at the staggered monster, and causes more deep cut, but the creature just.. wont... go... down.
The monster holding daemina tries to crush her with a pincer, while the other one tries to grab a hold of Yyrkoon, only slashing him.

There's a bit of retconning going on. Current situation is that neither Yyrkoon (grab missed), nor Daemina (last round's grab on Yyrkoon was retconned to her, but the creature now let go of her) is grappled
Juan pokes the sea creature, with a stab that is sure to take its life. The creature seems to fall over, curls up. A death frenzy overtakes the creature, and it performs one last, spiteful attack with both of its claws on its assailants

Aided by Yyrkoon - whose swing misses - Daemina scratches open the last monster. The effect is similar to the previous one: it goes into a death frenzy as it bleeds out, trying one last time to rip open its assailant. Fortunately, dead crustaceans don't fight very well.
