The combination of light sneaking in through the cracks in the walls and floors plus Ledt's light spell give the party enough to work with.
The warehouse is stocked up on various goods. Rope, spare sails, lumber, nails, beer, wine, cotton, wool, pulleys, coffee, clay, lead ingots, foodstuffs (some of which are rotten) and along the north wall, a large stack of simple coffins.
Move yourselves around however you see fit on the map, everyone should be able to edit

Unhindered by the light levels, Doubtful looks around with the others.
He gives the coffins a wide berth as they enter the warehouse, unsure why their there, but sure it can't be any good reason.
Although nominally supposed to be looking for their target crate, he seems to spend more time gentling prodding the floor boards in front of him with one foot, as if to test their sturdiness, or staring dubiously at the ceiling as if waiting for it to collapse. He does his best to touch nothing.
"We sure this is the right place?" He asks. "Maybe someone already made off with it."
Assume he's taking a 10 for looking about (total: 17)

![]() |

Gremli walks forward and inspect the coffins
" unless this man was a better liar then we thought, Or we didn't ask the right questions."
Gremli places his hands on the lid of a coffin
" forgive me if I disturb you."
Once said he opens the coffin and takes a look ...
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
" I have heard of some smugglers hiding contraband in coffins, since most people will just leave them alone seeing that there would be a corpse inside."

DM_Degwyn |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Fortunately, the coffins you check are empty and appear as if they have not yet been used.
Bralden, Ledt and Doubtful see the insignia of three crows in a triangle on the side of a crate as they make their way to the South side of the room. Unfortunately, the crate is precariously perched in the center of a hole in the floor, teetering on split planks. This is the crate Karela told you about.
You hear sudden movement from the West side of the room among the crates and you feel compelled to roll initiative.

![]() |

take that initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
edit
woot i go first lol
edit 2
Gremli moves next to Bralden drawing his sword
"what is that?!"
if i can ready action attack once it comes near me G-sword: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 = 8

![]() |

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
We can help you create an initiative roller!

DM_Degwyn |

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Initiative order:
Sangre: 23
Bralden: 21
Radaghast: 20
Ledt: 16
Doubtful: 5
Devonalia: 5
Rats: 5
A trio of dire rats emerge from the crates along the west wall where they must have been nesting.
One of the dog-sized creatures jumps on a crate near Sangre and bears it's yellowed teeth. The rats challenge is quickly answered by a downward strike from Sangre's great sword cleaving the rat in two.
The second rat is approaching Ledt and Bralden catches a glimpse of the third coming around the corner of a crate.
Everyone else is up now, rats are last in line.

![]() |

Ledt steps back next to his friends line, he points towards the rat standing just in front in line with him.
"Die!"
The halfling's hair raises up fully loaded of electrical energy and he feels the electricity sparkling through his left hand. Then, a ray of electrical power jumps from his finger to the rat, lighting the room for an instant.
Elemental ray (touch): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Electrical damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

![]() |

GM, any chance you could keep the map linked at the top of the page in the campaign description or on your stat line, so its easier to locate the link to it?
Doubtful will step forward, between Ledt and the rat, and send a couple of tentative kicks at the over-large rodent.
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage.
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage.
Unfortunately, he's a little too tentative.

DM_Degwyn |

The last standing rat seems to snicker as Bralden's arrow ricochets off an adjacent crate and skids across the floor. Meanwhile, the floor beneath Bralden begins to bow with a loud creak and a sharp snap.
Bralden, roll an acrobatics check
Since rat and Devonalia have the same initiative, rat will take his turn
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 for damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The large rodent bites at Doubtful's foot but misses.

![]() |

Ledt aims with his light crossbow and shots at the rat!
Light crossbow+PB-PS (cover): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 6 -PS means I don't have precise shot, and I am shooting into a melee, that's why I add the -4
The halfling yells in frustration "Argh! There is too much feet there!", he then steps back reloading the crossbow.

DM_Degwyn |

Bralden is able to adjust his footing at the edge of the hole without causing the weak floorboards to collapse.
Radagast swings his scythe at the rat but misses.
Ledt's crossbow bolt sinks into the wooden floor near Doubtful's foot.
Doubtful's toe has a sharp pain but he quickly puts it out of his mind.

![]() |

Doubtful, pokes hesitantly at the final rat, just in case its not really dead... despite the fact its skewered to the floorboard.
Eventually, even his healthy skepticism is satisfied as he turns his attention to the crate balanced precariously over the hole in the floor.
"I don't know if we're going to be able to get that." He mutters, as if by habit.
Still his eyes survey the warehouse as a whole, pondering.
Any beams directly above it we could lower something/one down from?
How big/heavy does the crate look?

![]() |

gremly places his hands on the floor
"my lord groum let me give the wood new strength"
as gremly prays the wood in front of him seems to grow and nit together and continues to do so as he walks up to the crate
casting mend wood to fix the floor up to and around the box
"OK, let's see what we have here then...can anyone pick a lock?...if not we could brake it open...
gremli said once he was done mending the wood

![]() |

'"If the wood is not fixed by the spell perhaps I can enlarge someone and he can take the crate from the water." adds Left as he observes the cleric in action.

![]() |

I am a cleric sir!!! lol ...but I do keep casting it until it's safe to walk on orsins love it
edit
sorry meant MENDING ^+^

![]() |

Are you referring to mending? Might not work the way you want. But if it does, this could take a few hours at 10 minutes per casting =)
that's true but its something ^+^

DM_Degwyn |

As Sangre prays over the rotted and splintered floorboards, they begin to straighten where they were warped and beginning to splinter. The spell is not able to repair the sections of board which have broken and fallen into the water.
Per the description for Mending "All of the pieces of an object must be present for this spell to function."
Along the center of the room, near the ceiling, there is a large solid rail with a crane used for loading and unloading goods through the southern doors.
There is also a fair bit of lumber, rope, nets and other items in the warehouse that you found during your initial inspection.

![]() |

"well that did help some what i think, thank you Groum..."
Sangre said as he got up whipping off his hands and looking around the room
"Now what else can we use to get that box and not have it fall into the water...the nets could work?"
He turns to the rest of the group looking at each Sangre ask
"well...what do you think?

![]() |

"I saw a boat out there. Perhaps we can use take it for a moment and float until down the box, then push it down and pick it from there. Or something similar." points out the halfling.

![]() |

"The boat idea has merit regardless of what course we take. Put the boat under the crate and if it falls through in any of the schemes we come up with the boat saves it from sinking."

![]() |

"What about enlarging someone into a giant. He can probably make foot on the water ground and take the box." adds the halfling.
"But if you have the knowledge to mount that pulley, I am more than ok to try help moving the nets over the box."

DM_Degwyn |

The crate is suspended by a couple of planks that have not yet splintered and fallen to the water.
The beam on the ceiling looks to be in reasonable condition as far as you can tell. (knowledge: engineering check can verify condition)
As the warehouse is positioned at the end of a long pier you suspect the water is a bit deep. (knowledge:nature, maritime profession or survival might give a close depth estimate)
The boat outside is in better condition than the rest of the building.
There is plenty of lumber, netting and rope to try rigging something up as well.
Let me know which direction the team wants to take.

![]() |

I'd worry that an enlarged person would become so heavy they'd fall through before they could get there. Remember that your weight increases by x4, I believe. I would saw we could try to net the box and drag it back our way, perhaps?

![]() |

I agree the birds that are there should be stronger, so if we throw a net over it and drag it back that sold work

![]() |

"Let's try the pulley then. As I am the one who weights less and have good accuracy, I will try the shot." that said, Ledt takes the net and approaches carefully to the box. He then throws the net over it, bind by a rope to the pulley.
Throw net: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
