Rae (and everyone), all I have is a standard cavalier's banner. The Flagbearer feat is generally superior and I don't think that the 2 stack. I was debating taking Flagbearer at 9th level once I could afford a Banner of the Ancient Kings. As for inspire courage, you're going to outclass me there as well. I can only inspire for +1 and even with Lingering Performance I'm sure you get more rounds per day than I do.

What I can do is issue inspiring commands. I currently only get one which grants everyone untyped DR of 1. A pretty minor buff. But I can fight, and when I issue a challenge the rest of the party's melee will benefit a little too.

Anyway, I'm not sure I can reliably help the group in the 8-9 subtier. Any thoughts from the group?

Why do you mean by that? You are level 9... so you are ok.

No, only 7th right now, actually.

By 9th I would start getting some nice things because the fact that bard and battle herald levels stack would begin to get useful.

I'm sure I can contribute - I just want everyone to know what I've built the character to do and such.

There have been some scenarios I've played a pregen in, a non-optimal pregen, at L7, in a 7-11 high tier.

Everyone can do awesome things with their character, they just need to see the opportunities as they present themselves.

Questions:

I'm afraid I don't see any interaction between them... only thing that jumps out at me is that it's a buff you'll want to lay down before combat as it takes a full minute to perform. Did you mean something specific?

Only special things it would help to know is if you have boons you might use during the scenario, otherwise, just completed and accurate character sheets!

Heya, Derek! Long time no see, glad to have you across the table again, man. It's true that the morale bonuses won't stack, but I think you guys may have some chance to alternate using your performances. Especially if Rae is using them to boost everyone's movement.

Baerlie, good to see you as well! Sorry about falling off the net during our core run of Frostfur Captives. Wish I could have avoided that as I was enjoying the game immensely. =/

ALSO: If folks go up to the maps link above, there's a googleframe in there that they can add their Perception and Init modifiers to. Is everyone okay?

It feels like some of us are posting with regularity and some of us are not, just want to be sure everyone's doing alright?

We are probably running away with the game a bit. It's only been yesterday since we heard from everyone. If everyone can let me know when their optimal time to read updates and post replies is, I can tailor when I update a bit to give everyone an opportunity to speak up before everything relevant has been said/done.

Also, I'm in retail, so I can be posting/replying at odd times, if it looks like it will be an issue I'll let folks know along with botting instructions.

3) If we need to finish by GenCon, that gives us about six weeks. We should have enough time, and I promise to do my part.

4) When my input is not necessary to move the plot along, please don't wait for me to post "Lars nods in agreement". And sure as heck don't expect me to post a lengthy internal monologue about why I agree. It seems that we have a few "face" characters. I'm happy to allow them to direct things for the most part.

If I think my character would disagree, I will be sure to post it and do so in a timely manner.

I have played a LOT of PBP games and GM'ed my share as well. I don't feel like I should have to explain myself to anyone here, but there it is.

Lars, thank you very much for the in-depth response.

I raised the concern because of a previous PbP I was in where we had a couple of folks who wouldn't post more than once or twice *a week* and then the scenario crashed and burnt horribly, in part because there was no indication from them of what they were doing or what was going on when they weren't posting, and then they'd post worse than useless things when they did post.

That you put forth that concise response is greatly appreciated. I suspect in the next few days I'm going to have a couple of days myself where my posting energy is going to be very minimal due to work.

Fair enough! I've had games die that way too. As I said, I probably internalized things WAY too much. And I probably just feel self-conscious knowing that I used to be a much more prolific poster.

And I too hope no one feels left out.

Also, if anyone feels Gamin's being too annoying, loud, or over-the-top out of character, please let me know? I've only had him in play for a couple of scenarios, so much as has been hinted at, still trying to 'feel out' the relationship between him and Rae.

I can post during normal office hours (GMT+1), but if you want to move on it's fine for me it you don't wait for an update from Lymwin.

I hope you all know I was not worried or expecting anyone to justify not being here every minute of the day. More I was concerned that I might be advancing things a bit too fast. As a player, I have experienced frustration when the game sweeps along without me just because others are posting and the GM's responding back and forth quickly. Even though I am on the boards quite a bit on a daily basis, I keep weird hours and often do something like sleep during everyone else's prime posting time and when I wake up, my character's opportunities to weigh in have gone by the wayside and we are in the middle of a combat.

We're striving for a good balance here. I'm committed to getting us to the finish on time and posting once a day will do that just fine and more is ok too. Everybody, deep breath in.... and out. Better. ^_~

Credit for Rae's quotable about 'impossible' in play goes to Muhammad Ali(R.I.P.), who said it years ago, but it 'just fit' with the ramble and could not be passed up, even with the rather lackluster roll there.

I agree. Just traveled alot in my youth and getting a place to sleep was always the most important thing once I reached a new city. Too many times when the hotel was overbooked, a convention in town ... etc.

We have advanced to the Tavern and you have all been invited to speak. If you manage to tell a stirring tale that has implications toward swaying the populace to your side, you may combine a diplomacy roll. Orators may also make a perform check along with a rousing speech to make an impact on the stoic oread.
