Sadly, Marcus only gets a bonus to intimidate for influencing crowds, not diplomacy, so assuming these guys are all Taldans, he matches Giovanni's +9. As much as Marcus loves to address a crowd, Giovanni still has his reroll left, so take it away! Marcus shall aid.

You see, Ridonport? You have been deceived. Your true brothers and sisters have risked everything to bring light to these underhanded dealings. Giovanni gives reference to the witnesses as he says "brothers and sisters".
Turning then to the Earl. The evidence is incontrovertible and you must stand down now. The good people of Ridonport deserve that much.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Too risky to reroll I think. gonna keep it. Pile on the Aid rolls!

I think he meant parade armour. It's what he's wearing, isn't it?

![]() |

Erm yeah, i meant parade armor not ceremonial.

![]() |

Well, given his roll...
Marcus fails to suppress the overwhelming desire to stick his tongue out at Vernisant, following his well articulated argument.

![]() |

A rope stretches in the courtyard as a Taldan flag fights a stiff breeze.
Are you feeling the tension as you await the result?

![]() |

Tension? Marcus is too busy staring at the Taldan flag, swelling with pride!

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Marcus stares off into the distance at the Taldan flag, hands at his hips, chest thrust out fully displaying his armor. He begins to hum the Taldan national anthem and a single tear builds up at the corner of his eye. Little does he notice that his trousers are not well tied, and his pants are showing through an open seam.
Going to ride that nat 1 on aid another until the result is posted.

![]() |

Yup, but it still means he probably did something a little bit stupid in the process.
"I do this for Taldor!"

![]() |

The crowd begins mumbling and shouting at the podium where Earl Vernisant frowns, knowing his public-speaking skills have met their match.
“People of Ridonport,” the earl proudly pleads, backing into the museum’s main room as the crowd advanced menacingly. “Your actions bring shame to our port’s greatest hero. When I looked through this museum’s collections, I found a mighty artefact hidden from view since 3827 - as if we were ever ashamed of our heritage. Do not jeer at me, for I am about to reclaim a relic used by my ancestor and bring glory back to Ridonport!”
Vernisant hurriedly motions to one of his attendants, who pulls a blue cloth off of a heavy chest. The word “Gallowspire” runs diagonally across its surface in peeling paint. The earl places a hand on the chest and announces, “Let us see what treasures the past has promised.” As if responding to his voice or his touch, the chest's numerous locks all click open. Vernisant’s smirk turns to a look of confusion as the lid flies open and a wave of palpable menace rushes out. As it passes over the suits of armour on display, they animate and begin menacing the crowd. At the same time, a pair of gauntlets leaps out at one of Vernisant's personal guards, choking the life from him. Other haunted relics begin rising from the crate as a spectral voice bellows, “We can sense you, General, and we can sense your people. We shall destroy them all as a reminder that none ever mock the Whispering Tyrant, Tar-Baphon!” In response, Calhadion Vernisant takes a fearful step back, swishes his cloak, and disappears in a cloud of blue-and-green smoke.
The crowd erupts in panic, turning the courtyard into a maelstrom of terror as people wheel away from the entrance to the museum and the unleashed undead horrors of the Whispering Tyrant. Rasvelg and Neffery (along with Cincia) spring into action, skirting the crowd and heading for the museum to mitigate the horror. Unfortunately, the party has no such luck.
Further instructions are found in the Discussion thread. For now, you're enmeshed in difficult terrain (along with Joleana).
Badriayh Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 SUCCESS!

Lady Finley Reflex Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 SUCCESS!
Lovissa Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 SUCCESS!
Marcus Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 FAIL!
Marcus' Nonlethal Damage from the crowd: 1d3 ⇒ 2 hp nonlethal damage, Marcus
Marcus takes an accidental flying elbow to the head as a scream from in front of him prefaces a large splash as a citizen takes a tumble into the museum fountain.
Round 1!
Magistrate Tantriano looks up at her two city guard attendants with a look of disgust. "Get us into that museum!" The guards attempt to move forward with little success.
Lovissa and Badriyah, you may act!

![]() |

"Return to your homes!" Lovissa exclaims loudly. "For I WILL PUT DOWN THIS MENACE!"
Focusing on the psychic impressions stored in her belt, she pushes her the magic down into her legs, increasing her speed considerably. Using a swift action and a point of mental focus to activate sudden speed which brings her speed to 60 ft. Then she steps through the crowd towards the front of the museum.
Double move. I went left, past Badriyah and Lady Finley, and then up past Marcus, FYI. I counted each square as difficult terrain (as mentioned in the discussion tab) even though two looked empty.

![]() |

That's cool, Lovissa. You'll be prone to the non-lethal damage that I'll roll at the end of the round, and you've moved (basically) clear of most of the difficult terrain at this point.

![]() |

Marcus's face turns to a frown as he wipes the water away from his face. He glares at whoever forced the citizen into the fountain. "Is this how you treat your fellow countrymen as soon as evil rears it's ugly head? If you can fight, move to the museum with all haste! If you cannot, exit in an orderly fashion, and clear a path for those of us who will confront this horror and save all of your lives! Remember the Taldan creed, KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!"
Intimidate + Parade Armor + Crowd Control: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 14
If either of those bonuses should not apply, let me know and subtract them out.
Also, if Crowd Control allows me to 5-ft step after that speech, he'll do so and slowly make his way towards the museum.

![]() |

Marcus, it's not your turn. You are LAST in initiative order. Your actions will occur at the end of the round.

![]() |

Oh, I misread, I thought it was 1 skill before combat. I think I misunderstood the instructions in the discussion thread. Save for later!

![]() |

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Badriyah dodges the initial panic of the crowd for a few seconds before gathering herself. Eyes focused on the animated gauntlets, she takes a deep breath and shouts to those surrounding her.
"Stand aside or stand and fight! Now is not the time to hide or panic." She says throwing back her scarf and sliding her sickle from its sheath. "Your ancestors did not run from great evil in the past. Nay...they rallied to become the greatest heroes this world has known. The way to defeat the tyrant is to stand strong, unite together, and believe in Sarenrae!"
She starts to work her way through the crowd, gesturing for Giovanni and Joleana to follow. "Those who can fight, follow the good magistrate and myself or help those who cannot to safety."
"Together we will strike down the evil and the one who unleashed it upon Taldor!"
Move as far as I can following Lovissa.

![]() |

Badriyah, you successfully quell the crowd near you and Giovanni to allow the two of you to pass without difficulty, but your roll wasn't quite sufficient to get Magistrate Tantriano in on the action.
GM rolls: 1d20 ⇒ 41d20 ⇒ 19
Giovanni, you may act! You're not in difficult terrain currently, thanks to Badriyah.

![]() |

Keep calm, people. Everything will be fine. Please file out in an orderly fashion. We need to get to the museum, thank you. Giovanni motions for people to file out now that they've been relaxed a bit.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 More crowd control for Lovissa for next turn. then moving as much as possible behind the crew.

"Excuse me pardon me, excuse me. Move!" Lady Finley makes her way as close as she can to the battle.
Double Move as close as I can get to the action.

![]() |

The crowd jostles and hustles, areas of the throng affected by the heroes' requests for calm and order. Unfortunately, not all have been shielded.
Joleana Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Lady Finley Reflex Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Lovissa Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
The magistrate, as well as Lovissa and Lady Finley, dodge most of the panicking crowd members, avoiding incidental and accidental bludgeoning.
Round 2!
The crowd begins streaming out of the courtyard, intent to be away from the evil menaces present within the museum. The Pathfinders can see large suits of animated armour battling some of the guards and their allies, a few bodies lying prone near the entrance to the museum. Joleana and her guards struggle to push forward within the crowd.
GM roll: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Marcus and Lovissa, you are free of the difficult terrain. Everyone else is still within difficult terrain and may affect the crowd as noted previously, or move within difficult terrain and be prone to damage from the crowd at the end of the round.
Lovissa and Badriyah may act!

![]() |

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Still trying to calm the crowd Badriyah finds herself slightly flustered and struggling to maintain her heroic demeanor.
"Bloody heart of the abyss!" She shouts in frustration. "Let us through so we can defeat this menace before it grows in strength."

![]() |

Lovissa focuses on her longsword, imagining it heavier, sharper, larger. Under her gaze the longsword seems somehow... more. Casting lead blades on her longsword. Then she continues through the crowds.
She gives Rasvelg a wide smile and a wink as she passes by, and enters the museum.
I've currently moved 40 feet of my 60 foot move action. I'm just checking the icons on the map. The four suits of armour are animated, yes? The upside down inverted guard images are...? And the weird wispy things in front of my icon are... spirits of some kind coming out of the brown square which is the chest? I'm just curious so I can finish my move action. Thanks!

![]() |

The closest suit of animated armour seems to be contained by Rasvelg and Neffery. The wispy things are flying helms, and both appear to be headed (HA!) your way.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ha!
Lovissa strides into the room and right up to the flying helmets.
"I AM LOVISSA OF THE LINE OF HALENBANE!" she bellows proudly. "I AM LEGEND! With a wide smile she adds, "YOU'RE HISTORY!"
Finished my move.

![]() |

One of the flying helms floats towards the proud Ulfen woman, red glowing eyes shining from within its eye holes. Suddenly, the helmet accelerates forward to slam Lovissa in the face!
Melee Attack on Lovissa: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 MISS!
Lovissa dodges the body-less helmet.
From around the corner of the table, a small grotesque gauntleted hand crawls along the floor towards the scene. Leaping high, the gauntlet launches itself towards Lovissa's thigh!
Melee Attack on Lovissa: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 MISS!
The gauntlet misses widely as well.
Giovanni, it is your turn! You are still in difficult terrain.

![]() |

Giovanni keeps the momentum of influencing the crowd so the remaining members of the crew can escape. That's it people, please exit to the edge of the square. No need to be alarmed, everything is under control.
diplo crowd control for Badriyah: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

![]() |

Giovanni, your roll was sufficient for yourself, but not sufficient to allow Badriyah free movement as well. The RAW for the encounter indicate that you're affected first and then colleagues, unfortunately.
Giovanni directs the crowd while Badriyah yells haplessly at the panicked throng. Meanwhile, in the museum, a second gauntlet crawls up onto the chest in front of Lovissa and leaps at her sword-arm.
Melee Attack on Lovissa: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 231d1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 HIT! - 2 hp dmg
Free Grapple (Grab) on Lovissa: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4 FAIL!
The gauntlet rakes its sharpened tips down Lovissa's arm, but fails to clutch at her limb. All around, guards and allies are battling - mostly successfully - full suits of possessed armour, keeping them at bay.
Lady Finley and Marcus may act!

![]() |

Marcus looks over the assembled throng, then turns and looks at the haunted suits of armor. "Fellow countrymen able to bare arms... DEFEND THIS MUSEUM!"
With that he rushes headlong into the fray. He sees the Curator being threatened by a suit of armor and opts to intervene.
Double move, Drawing sword on the way
Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

![]() |

Per the CRB, Marcus: “when using Acrobatics in this way [to avoid an AoO], you move at half-speed...you can do this at a +10 difficulty and still move at full speed.” Additionally, you’ve moved through at least one enemy space, which would be another +5. Lastly, you’re leaving Lovissa to handle four separate enemies. I have no problem with you trying this, but I wanted to check your ambitious aim with a bit of realism.
Awaiting Lady Finley as well.

![]() |

The portion of the move which the acrobatics check applies to is at half speed. Although looking at the map I may not have noticed all of the enemies or they may not render well zoomed out on mobile. Which of those are enemies and which are decorations? The flags are decorations I presume? The upside down thing is a foe or KOd ally? Are there heads flying? And what size are they?
Just put me as far into the room as I can while tumbling and preferably near a foe. A summary of what is what would be helpful.

![]() |

Lady Finley moves forward and finally finds herself outside the crowd. She fires her crossbow at suit of armor right in front of her, but she misses.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

![]() |

I've removed the banners for clarity. As far as a summary of what's going on, Marcus, you're in a chaotic scene. That's what you know. Lady Finley, there's a wall between you and the suit of armour that you see on the map. There's also a raised platform between you and the entrance to the museum, so you have no enemies in sight just yet. Your crossbow bolt plinks into the wall of the museum.
GM roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Non-lethal damage from the crowd: 1d3 ⇒ 3 hp nonlethal damage, Badriyah
Badriyah takes a forehead to the nose from a panicked crowd member as the throng exits the grounds.
GM roll: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Round 3!
The crowd thins much further as the group attempts to make their way ahead to the museum entrance. Magistrate Tantriano pushes her way around her guards, an excited but concerned look on her face. The gathered allies and guards seem to have the larger suits of armour in check, leaving only a small scattering of possessed pieces floating and crawling about the main entrance. Lovissa stands fearlessly amongst four such pieces of evil-infused armour, fending off their blows as Marcus rushes to her side.
GM rolls: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 91d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
A floating disembodied helmet with glaring red eyes moves to attack Marcus.
Melee Attack on Marcus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 HIT! - 3 hp damage, Marcus
The helmet slams the barbarian in the face and floats in place, glaring further.
Lovissa, it is your turn! Badriyah may act as well!

![]() |

Badriyah grabs her nose with a startled curse. Despite the black eye in her future, she charges forward finally breaking free of the fleeing crowd and quickly moving toward the museum and the sound of the struggle inside.
Just double move toward the museum entrance.

![]() |

Lovissa laughs at the floating armour. "Now, THIS will be a tale to remember!"
She swings her sword at the floating gauntlet that just damaged her.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 + 1 = 6

![]() |

Badriyah rushes up next to Magistrate Tantriano as Lovissa chops down at the jumping (not floating) gauntlet, metal clanging into metal, with a finger flying off of the still-moving gauntlet.
The other gauntlet scrabbles forward on the floor and attempts to dig into the Ulfen's foot.
Melee Attack on Lovissa: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 HIT! - 2 hp dmg, Lovissa
Free Grab Attempt: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15 SUCCESS! - Lovissa, you are grappled.
The gauntlet digs into Lovissa's left heel, pulling at her foot with strength from beyond the grave. As this happens, the helmet floating above her attempts to encage her head!
Lovissa, you get an AoO, but remember that you are grappled (-2 to hit). Though the RAW on grappled states that you cannot use actions that take two hands, this doesn't apply in this particular case (as the gauntlet is grappling your foot).

![]() |

Lovissa swing at the helmet with her sword!
AoO: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 - 2 = 10
Damage: 2d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 2 + 1 = 10

![]() |

Lovissa's swing, hampered by the grabby gauntlet, misses the helmet widely as it attempts to clamp down on her head.
(Special) Grapple Attack on Lovissa: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 SUCCESS!
Lovissa, you are blinded and subjected to the helm's special attack, known as 'skull cage'. Basically, you're grappled and blinded (and muffled), and anything that would do harm to the helmet also does harm to you.
The floating helmet clamps down on Lovissa's head, completely obscuring the Ulfen's face!
Giovanni, you may act!

![]() |

"Mmmf! Mm-Mmmf!" Lovissa taunts the helmet quite cleverly. Unfortunately, muffled as she is by the helmet, no one understands her cunning wit...

![]() |

The gauntlet that had leapt from the chest and raked Lovissa redirects its undead malevolence at the newest target to arrive - Marcus.
Melee Attack on Marcus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 MISS!
The gauntlet springs at the barbarian as Marcus easily dodges it. It lands back on the ground.
Lady Finley and Marcus may act! Lady Finley, please note that you have no line of sight on the enemies at your position.

![]() |

"Lovissa... you look silly with that helm! Remove it!"
He looks over at the helm floating near his head and scowls. "I do not want one either. It would muss up my hair. I would look ridiculous!! I would not be pr-"
Part way through this tirade he realizes that he has tufts of orange fur on the backs of his palms, and his nose is slowly elongating. Move action: (accidently) shift to Kitsune form. He simmers with fury and completely loses his cool. "I AM MARCUS VULPARES FANTAILLER, SON OF MARCUS VULTULUS FANTAILLER, HEIR TO THE FANTAILLER FAMILY ESTATE! YOU SHALL NOT DO HARM TO MY COUNTRY!" Free action: RAGE! (STR bonus)
With that he makes a clumsy two-handed overhand chop using his finely crafted dueling sword. His swordsmanship instructor would hang his head in shame.
Standard action: SMASH THAT STUPID HELMET BEFORE IT WEARS ME!
Dueling sword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

![]() |

Marcus' overhand chop cleaves straight through the floating helm in front of him, dropping it in two inanimate pieces on the ground. The red beady eyes fade out after a dramatic pause.
Awaiting Lady Finley.
