Lovissa Halenbane
|
Lovissa attempts her disable device as noted above.
GM Dinketry
|
The other time someone mentioned that it was a combination lock.
Lovissa listens to the tumblers of the lock as she works the dial, but comes up empty-handed.
Marcus may act!
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Marcus spits out a few more uncouth words with long pauses then begins panting. "Stupid... Boaty... McBoatface..."
End Rage, fatigued for 8 rounds
He sifts through the pieces of the destroyed boat, looking for any numbers, then pockets them before checking the surrounding area. With that he heads back to the door. "I'll see if I can give you some extra time."
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
It must be a year. The Shining Crusade began in 3754 but ended with General Arnisant's victory in 3827, that must be it.
Giovanni enters 3827 into the combination lock.
GM Dinketry
|
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Lovissa attempts to arrange the tumblers, but fails to hear any clicks. Marcus pants and moans for a moment before moving back to the door that they entered and listening.
Round 7!
You all may act.
Lovissa Halenbane
|
Lovissa waits while Giovanni enters the combination to see if he's correct.
Her actions will depend on that.
GM Dinketry
|
If anyone has a Knowledge History skill (must be trained), please give me an 'Aid Another' roll. Thanks.
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
Sorry folks, Giovanni wouldn't have known the year, so please make knowledge history checks to support and we can wrap this thing up!
Lovissa Halenbane
|
History: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Booya!
GM Dinketry
|
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Please note: there is no door in the south wall of this room. I have replaced a black box over the door that is printed on the map - please disregard the door printed on the map; it does not exist.
Lovissa hears Giovanni's suggestion of the year of General Arnisant's pyrrhic victory as the 4-digit code for the safe and enters it on her turn. Sure enough, 3-8-2-7 is the combination for the wall safe, and Lovissa is able to turn the handle and pull open the heavy door.
Lady Finley, Marcus, and Badriyah may act!
GM Dinketry
|
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Marcus and Lady Finley may act!
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler

Marcus rushes towards the safe to help identify any potential evidence quickly.
Don't know what rolls are needed, roll in my behalf. Rough few days here.
GM Dinketry
|
GM-Bot for Lady Finley.
The grippli reloads her crossbow and takes close aim at the far door now blocked by a desk.
Readied action.
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Round 8!
Lovissa sees only two items within the safe: one appears to be a leather-covered ledger of some sort while the other appears to be an officially embossed document entitled 'Deed'.
Badriyah, Marcus, Lady Finley, and Giovanni may act!
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
Giovanni grabs the ledger and Deed, assuming the Deed is for the Chandlery. This belongs to the patrician. We're done, let's get out of here.
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
We blocked the East door. There is no South door. There appears to be a West door from the room we're in. all correct?
Giovanni attempts to leave through door.
GM Dinketry
|
We're still in initiative order, Giovanni.
Giovanni grabs the ledger and the deed after Lovissa opens the safe, suggesting that it is now time to leave. Lady Finley stands on guard with her crossbow loaded.
Marcus, and Badriyah - what are you doing?
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
Of course. Understood it was my turn in initiative. Just to clarify: Standard action to grab stuff and move action to leave. Does the door require a standard to open, and that's what's holding me up? I should have indicated in the post I was moving after the document grab, i just moved my icon on the map.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Still panting, Marcus does a half-hearted effort to clear away signs of their burglary. "Hrmm... I do suppose we should depart with all due haste."
Cleaning up after ourselves?: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Not sure what roll it should be. Add whatever makes sense.
Fatigued for 6 more rounds
Badriyah Hameedah
|
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Seeing the documents are in hand, Badriyah picks up the shards of the shield on her way to opening the door to the alley. With only a brief pause to look for any potential threats or guards she rushes out of the building and runs for the closest bit of cover.
Badriyah will move out into the alley unless there are obvious threats in sight.
GM Dinketry
|
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Giovanni, I stopped you because Marcus was guarding the door to the alley, and I wanted to see what he and Badriyah would do. Badriyah, the shards of the shield are inside a display case and fixed to the surface of the desk. I'll rule that you try to pick up the shadow box and cannot, and instead you leave it and move to the door to the alley.
GM rolls: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 61d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 171d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 171d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Badriyah opens the door to the alley, revealing two large human-types wielding clubs and whispering to each other. Apparently ready for action, they waste no time.
Melee Attack #1 against Badriyah, Flat-Footed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 CRITICAL THREAT!
Critical Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 CRITICAL UNCONFIRMED! - 7 hp dmg, Badriyah
Melee Attack #2 against Badriyah, Flat-Footed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 81d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 MISS!
The first burly human, bald head and studded club in hand, lands a heavy blow in the Keleshite's face, dropping Badriyah to the ground. The second greener humanoid swings and misses at her crumpling form.
I have Badriyah at -3 hp and dying.
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Round 9!
Lady Finley and Giovanni, you may act!
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
gotcha!
Giovanni levels a finger at the thugs in the doorway. You idiots. The thieves have already fled, we came as soon as we heard the alarm. Hurry they went out the door to the south east. Now we have to tend to this one. The Earl will BE MOST DISPLEASED. GO!
bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 With any aid from disguise please :) All but Lovissa are disguised pretty well so I hope we get away with it.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
The Enforcers, do they have city watch garb or do they look like the brute squad has come to play?
GM Dinketry
|
So, Kermit the Frog dressed up as Harry Potter is ‘well-disguised’, Giovanni? Do you recall what you said when you tried to aid her Disguise attempt? And yes, Marcus, the Brute Squad has come to play.
The brutes at the back door pause for a moment, the green-skinned one glancing at the bald one.
Lady Finley may act!
Lady Finley
|
Lady Finley swings around hearing the brutes outside. She moves to where she can see one then she blows on the veil covering her face getting it out of her vision for one moment. She fires her crossbow.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Dinketry
|
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
The bolt flies true, grazing the forearm of the green-skinned enforcer as he looks askance at the other. With a sudden roar, the bald enforcer charges in the doorway, furiously swinging his club at Marcus!
Giovanni, this would provoke an AoO from you, but I don't think you have a weapon drawn. Unless I am mistaken...?
Melee Attack, Rage: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 151d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10 HIT! - 10 hp dmg, Marcus
The lead brute looms over the prone form of Badriyah, swinging and connecting with the already-fatigued Marcus.
Marcus and Lovissa, it is your turn! Badriyah, please give me a stabilise roll (DC 13)
Lovissa Halenbane
|
Safe to assume I can't step in that space beside the thug that looks like it has a box/table in it?
Unable to squish into melee with the thug, Lovissa circles around the battle with her longsword in one hand, and pulls a small jade statuette out of her belt pouch with her other hand.
"Now's your chance to flee while you can!"
Moving, then drawing her conjuration implement.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Improved Dirty Trick to Blind - Fatigue: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 1 = 17
Marcus sighs, then spits into his hand and throws the saliva covered splinters of Boaty McBoatface into the eyes of his assailant. "You are most bothersome..."
Hopefully that hits with his charge penalty. Giovanni, he's all yours.
GM Dinketry
|
Which are you trying to do, Marcus? Blind or fatigue him? Also, he didn't charge (RAW); he charged as per flavour text. You hit, nonetheless, but I need to know what you're doing to him.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Blind. The -fatigue meant that I was including my fatigue penalty.
GM Dinketry
|
Your assumption about the space where the desk sits currently is correct, Lovissa.
DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG! DA-DONG!
Marcus blows splinters into the eyes of the enraged enforcer, successfully robbing him of his vision! A growl from the doorway signals the entry of the second enforcer into the battle, though he swings from behind his comrade at Giovanni at the side of the door frame.
Melee Attack, Rage, Partial Cover: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 221d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8 HIT! - 8 hp dmg, Giovanni
Even with the cover provided by the side of the door, Giovanni catches a studded club in the head.
I have Badriyah at -4 hp and dying.
GM roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Round 10!
Lady Finley and Giovanni, it is your turn!
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
I forgot, who has my CLW wand right now? Was that Badriyah or Lovissa?
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Yeah, I think most of us can use some healing, you obviously being top priority.
Lovissa Halenbane
|
I totally forgot! Sorry! Healing is new to her this adventure. On it, guys!
@ GM: Can she have drawn the wand instead of her statuette last round? Thanks!
Giovanni Stellaluce
|
Giovanni takes a shot from the incoming thug. He draws his rapier to his free hand and plugs the lead assailant.
rapier, combat expertise: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (1) = 3
confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
target is blinded. hoping it confirms. some crappy damage rolls.
6 damage total.
AC 17, HP 7
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Lovissa, FYI you don't actually need to draw your implement in order to cast spells, it's treated the same as material components when casting spells.
Whenever an occultist casts a spell, he must have the corresponding implement in his possession and present the implement to the target or toward the area of effect. This act is part of casting the spell and doesn't require any additional action.
GM Dinketry
|
Lovissa, I'll allow you to ret-con your action last round, especially given Marcus' clarification of the rules on occultists and implements. Thanks, Marcus!
Giovanni plunges his rapier deep into the raging enforcer's shoulder, provoking a guttural roar.
Awaiting Lady Finley.
Lady Finley
|
Lady Finley loads, and fires her crossbow at the thug in front of Giovanni. "Take that. You thug." Her veil gets in her eyes, and she misses.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
GM Dinketry
|
Lady Finley, did you take into account the -4 penalty for firing into melee? I can't tell from your combat line.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler
|
Let's do some math... character sheet shows... 2 BAB, +3 Dex Mod, +1 Size, +1 Masterwork, +1 Point Blank Shot should be a +8 bonus. She rolled at +6... assuming a blind raging foe locked in melee that'd be flat-footed with -2 AC from blind and an additional -2 AC from rage, but none of those are bonuses to the attacker, just penalties to the defender, so that shouldn't affect her attack bonus. I suspect that should be a total of +4, resulting in a 10 rather than 12. Probably all comes down to what kind of armor the brute squad is equipped with.
GM Dinketry
|
She rolled at a +6 ranged attack for the previous attack in this round, prior to the combatant engaging in melee, so I'll assume that there was no accounting for firing into melee. In perusing her character sheet, there's no evidence of a feat to account for firing into melee. I do appreciate the investigation on your part, Marcus.
The grippli's bolt pings off the table to the left of the blinded enforcer who growls and slams his club down.
Giovanni (odd); Marcus (even): 1d12 ⇒ 3 Giovanni
Melee Attack against Giovanni, Rage, Blinded: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d100 ⇒ 5 MISS!
The enforcer's studded club swishes through the air into the floor, missing Giovanni badly. He scrubs at his eyes with the back of his hand, blinking in surprise at the return of his vision.
"Peek-a-boo!" he snarls, staring at Marcus with murderous intent.
Lovissa and Marcus, it is your turn!
Lady Finley
|
Lady Finley, did you take into account the -4 penalty for firing into melee? I can't tell from your combat line.
No I didn't take that into account sorry.
