Ironshanks gives Graff a look as he swings wildly "If ye weren't part of this crew I'd make fun of ya fer that!" Orcs... who lets 'em sign up fer this work anyhow? They ain't much better then this gnoll!
Ahmandé
|
With the gnoll looking overwhelmed... or perhaps dead, Ahmandé pauses, keeping an eye on the top of the deck.
Delaying until we see the outcome of the offers to surrender.
| DystopianGM |
Indeed, you are correct on the handaxe.
Travail launches a deadly attack from behind, rapier sliding between the gnoll's ribs. Ahmande waits to see what happens as the Pathfinders dog-pile (oh, the puns) Snarl, Red Ivan delivering a deadly blow of his own, Graff missing wildly with his axe, and Ironshanks shattering the gnoll's weapon.
Snarl cackles a high, broken laugh, covered in blood. He throws a wild punch at Travail, but before he does so, drops his guard opening himself up to attacks from all around him.
He fights to the death, and has 2 hp left. Ahmande you can take your action and then, if Snarl is still alive everyone in melee can take an attack of opportunity on him. Also, give me your action once Snarl is down. We will continue in initiative for ease of tracking.

The Pathfinders move down into the hold. Chained the length of the ship, two to a bench, are 50 filth-encrusted oar slaves bleeding from lacerations and open sores and slumped in sleep or exhaustion. The benches form a five-foot-wide aisle down the center of the galley, constricting movement in all but three areas: a 10-foot diameter around the main mast, slightly fore of midship, and the extreme ends of the galley which hold rooms.
Standing in front of the door to one of the rooms is another massive gnoll with a handaxe and a whip. He doesn't seem to see Travail.
"Captain Gnarl Bonegather is my name, and I'll see ya all rowin' my ship before the day's through. Hold still now, wouldn't want to damage ya for a prospective buyer!"
He steps forward and lashes out with his whip at the dwarf, but the length of leather fails to connect.

Graff follows suit with his own war cry despite the stink eye likely given by his companions.

Ironshanks watches the whip bounce off his iron greaves and nods "Ya best be rethinkin' yer strategery Captain Bone Chewer, tryin' ta trip a Dwarf is like tryin' to swim upriver!"

Ha, well there's an ending for ya!
Ironshanks moves on to sundering the gnoll captain's armor and Travail delivers a wicked strike, jabbing his rapier into the thing's back. Nearly at the same time, Graff delivers his own attack, burying his axe into the gnoll's neck, blood spraying into the air. As the droplets of blood rain back to the ground, Graff can almost see the holy symbol of the Rough Beast in the falling collection. Gnarl falls to the deck, body twitching.
Out of Combat!
You open the door he was guarding and find a human woman tied up in a room too small to sit or lay down in, ceiling too low to stand up straight. She whimpers, letting out a cry when she sees you. Then she composes herself. Lady Anilah says, looking from you to the body of the gnoll captain. "Are you hear to kill me?"

Finding himself the first at the door, Travail finds himself at a loss for words, seeing the lovely noble woman tied up on the floor. "No," he says, stammering, and making to untie her.

"You must be Lady Anilah. We were sent to rescue you. We're Pathfinders. Graff, Ironshanks, and Ahmande. Red Ivan is freeing the other prisoners. Oh, and I'm Travail."
Ironshanks Magee
|
"So much fer that Captain eh? Wonder who gets the ship now... probably the banks. F&~&in' banks." Ironshanks steps up behind Travail to make sure he doesn't get in over his head, and well, he hardly knows him.
"Maybe we got ourselves a missing person! Lucky you got rich friends in high places Lady! Lets get gone before more of the crew shows up." He takes off his shield and stows his axe, ready to head top deck with the others and the woman.
| DystopianGM |
Lady Anilah, hearing the words she's hoped for for days, places her head in her hands and begins to cry. She says, through the sobs, "I owe you a debt I can never repay."
You escort the lady out of the ship, past the blood and corpses of the gnoll officers and human sailors and onto the pier. People have started to trickle in now past the No Return, business resuming at last. No sign of the Puddlejumpers can be found, and you take your time, watching for another ambush, but none come. True to their word, it looks like the Puddlejumpers won't be working for Pildapush any longer.
You return the grateful Lady Anilah to Venture-Captain Alissa Moldreserva. Alissa eyes you up and down as she drapes a blanket over Anilah's shoulders. She says, "You handled that well. Guess I had you wrong. The lot of you may prove useful to the Society yet. Get yourselves a drink on me."
She then escorts the lady away and you are left in the courtyard of the Grand Lodge, strangely quiet, a setting sun perched on Absalom's rooftops, slipping slowly away.
And so we come to another story's end. I hope everyone had fun. I will have chronicles up within a day or two and will roll for boons in the discussion thread. Thank you all for playing!

Ironshanks reaches out a gloved mitt and shakes the Lady's hand "Name's Ironshanks Magee. Yer very welcome fer the savin', and never say never on that debt Missy. I'm sure yer Hubby can be reminded if ever the need should come!" He marches off at the head of the group, hand staying near the handle of his waraxe.

"Ya didn't think a Magee could handle 'imself on a simple rescue? Captain, I come from a long line of ass kickers and gobbie stompers. I can handle my shit, and the others handled theirs near as good!" Cept maybe that Orc, had to serve that Cap'n up on silver platter!
He heads off to the nearest tavern to collect on the largest, strongest drink he could get.
