Re-posting from the application forum. Thanks again for the pick. :)
It is never easy to choose applications. All applications were of a very high quality and I thank everyone for the tremendous efforts they obviously put in theirs.
Here are the chosen applications:
Vrykkas the Pale, elven oracle of Bones, by James Martin
Viyko Kharde, human ranger/witch, by W Canepa
Ayla, halfling druid, by jlord
Lethe, shifter barbarian, by Kevin Mack
Rabbit, human cleric, by MarkofbaneThank you once more for your interest in the game.
I altered the dates a bit to reflect the timeline.
As for other PCs...--I would not have known Lethe, based on the timeline.
--It's possible I had met Vrykkas, especially if he and my siblings ever worked together (hell, he was alive before the Last War started!).
--If Rabbit was at the Battle of the Long Night at Fort Bones, then Viyko may have met her (or at least gone to her for healing!)
--It's possible I met Ayla as a fellow scout at some point, but depends on where they were.
Thoughts everyone?
Lethe
Looking over the other backgrounds I dont think Vikyo would know lethe directly not ever being in the same place at all.
Vyrkkas since he was part of the attack force on Eton may have known of Lethe and her of him mostly in passing (It is also possible Vyrkkas may know of Lethe due to thing's Dalvan told him while he was playing the role of confessor, Lethe taking an enemy citizen with them for instance)
Rabbit being a member of the scout force may have known Lethe as well especially since she was in contact with the commander around about the same time as Lethe. Also if she was a healer she would possibly have seen Lethe on a few occasions mostly to heal her after a battle.
Ayla if she was involved in the assult on Eton may have known of Lethe before again mostly in passing.
It is also possible any of them may know Lethe by reputation since she was known for a while to be having what would appear to most people as a Death wish (always taking the most dangerous missions and such) or later on due to her bringing back an enemy citizen (which I would imagine would cause at least some talk at the time)
Viyko Kharde
It is entirely possible that Rabbit was at the Battle of the Long Nights. At that point, she would have been a tag-a-long with the scouting group, not formally in the military, and she would have been an awkward teen not yet exhibiting divine powers.
If she was, then Viyko would've likely overheard the talk between Rimika (head of his scouting unit) and the other scouts, and she would've given him the basics of the situation, but not gone into detail, as it was unimportant.
So, if you agree, we can say I saw you with the scouts, but we didn't speak (unless you can think of something we would talk about under the circumstances; compassion wasn't his style back then, so he wouldn't have offered a smile or words of comfort).
Viyko would've appeared as a military-dressed scout, short beard and shoulder length dreadlocks (bones ties in hair). If anything stood out, it was probably his skittishness and the centipede that crawled about his arm. His sister would've been dressed in dark red and black, and readily recognizable as both a necromancer and scout.

I would offer that Viyko, Ayla, Lethe and Rabbit all served as advanced and scouting forces during the battle at Fort Bones. Lethe would not have been part of the scout contingents, yet she would share campfire, food and stories with the others at the fort during that campaign.
Some of you would be together again on the raid on Eston, just before the retreat prior to the Day of Mourning.
Vrykkas the Pale would have been the one to tell Viyko of his sister's death, and would have spent some time with the young man.
Suggestions of course.
I'm working on the opening posts, which I should be able to put up shortly.
I'm also working on the special materials and equipment, which will be next after the linked backgrounds.

Vrykkas: What is your view on the gods? As a 'confessor' and counselor of sorts, what sort of advice do you tend to give? Viyko tends to have a grim and dismissive view of the gods, as close to an atheist as one can be in a world where gods are real. This would determine Viyko's attitude toward Vrykkas; if Vrykkas is religious, but not at all pushy, Viyko would be more amiable. Viyko was pretty devastated at the loss of his sister, and having to learn of her death by an unknown corpse-preparer that couldn't bring her back in any capacity likely was additional salt in the wound. I'm sure he took the news better than his brother Artero did, as Viyko tends to be more disconnected from people. Still, his siblings were his best friends in life, and they were close in the rare way only some family can be, their ties of blood reinforced by magic. Viyko would have asked to see her corpse, and asked you to turn a blind eye as he removed the index and middle fingers from both of her hands (the left hand held the power of magic, and the right the power to draw back her bow) so that he could add them to his hair with his mother's fingers. I think your character would understand this ancestor honoring more than the Karrnathis.
To the rest: nice to have met you all. Viyko has fond memories of the comrades he briefly made in that battle, and will likely be in better spirits to be back with them after so many years abroad, but it will be a bittersweet reunion as it will remind him of his sister and brother. You know from that battle, then, that Viyko's tactics tend toward attacking from range, staying mobile, and using magic to incapacitate and weaken enemies. He loathes warfare as an ideal, and sees it as a necessary evil. He does not boast about battle, and quickly ends conversations with those who relish combat and boast of their deeds. Viyko rarely drinks alcohol, and prefers teas. He has strong prejudices against Cyrans and Thranes who fought in the last war, and has a general loathing of the Valenar as a whole.
After the battle, Viyko's brother Artero disgracefully disappeared, and Viyko was depressed, not talking to anyone and taking a brief leave, only to be commissioned by the Brigadier to scout for him for a few years after that.
Viyko is erratic in social settings, but methodical and decisive in combat. His favorite tactic is to cause enemies to fall asleep so that they can be felled by his allies (he does this to prevent the suffering of his foes as much as to more quickly end the battle). Socially, he speaks little, gives up easily when people don't hear him speak the first time, seems always restless, and seems disinterested in most conversations, keeping things superficial and brief.
Vrykkas the Pale
Vrykkas respects the gods, but has no affection or distaste for them. He believes whole-heartedly in the Blood of Vol, which means divinity comes from within.
He would have known Viyko's sibling from the cadre of necromancers, it being a somewhat tight unit.
He might have been acquainted with Rabbit, especially if she was close to Dalvan, since Vrykkas acted as a cofessor to the man.
He would know Lethe probably by sight alone, since I doubt he had much conversation with troops, though in an emergency he may have dressed wounds and parcelled out some light healing as needed.
I'm picturing Vrykkas as a middle aged Christopher Lee, complete with deep voice and gaunt appearance. He's not a comforting sort of guy, but when your troops are undead, you get used to it.

I've added a list of special equipment and materials for the setting. They are presented by region to try and give each a little more flavor.
For example, Karrnath reads like this:
Karrnath
MWK Karrnathi Glaive and Swords
Darkwood Shields
Darkleaf Banded Mail (Med Armour, Max Dex +1, ACP -2, ASF -5%, 35 lbs, 3250 gp)
Karrnathi Ash Steel: +1 D Slashing, counts as cold iron (MWK +450 GP)
Bloodroot: Poison, see PRD, 1/4 price
Oil of Taggit: Poison, see PRD, 1/4 price
Meaning that the regions is known for its expertise making glaives and swords. Most masterwork weapons of this type are made by expert smiths of the nation. They also are one of the rare region producing Darkwood shields. Their best smiths know the secret to make Darkleaf banded mail and ash steel, a special type of steel that confers a weapon almost magical properties.
Finally, this is where the Bloodroot and Oil of Taggit poisons are produced. Note that I've reduced drastically the price of poisons.
Again, experimental and open for discussions and modifications.

Quick question would Tika have been invited to the thing and if not would Lethe have been allowed to bring her along or would lethe have been better off leaving her with associates?
The Sivis Sending was not personalized and you could have decided either way. It's up to you to decide if you want your ward with you. It certainly will put her more in harm's way, but I won't torture you with it.
All the time that is... ;-p

That avatar is quite fitting... and freaky!
By the way, I have taken many liberties with the Blood of Vol. I found it too straightforward and obviously on the wrong side. I want it to be a real plea for the strength within. A sort of Free Will religion. At the same time, its mysticism has slipped and certain subgroups take the word to extreme levels of zealotry, hence the undead cult that parallels it.
Ayla
Lethe- Ayla could have meet Lethe during the war. I can imagine that if they had gotten to know each other, they would have become good friends, mainly due to a similar past. Although not an archer, It probably wouldn't be hard for Lethe to take Lina's place in Ayla's background, Making them good friends, basically sisters. That is if that was a route we wanted to go. Ayla would have been for Lethe Adopting Tika, If such an opinion mattered.
Viyko- Ayla could have worked along side of him at times when she was given scout missions, but besides that probably not much else. Possibly Ayla could have attempted to heal his sister, however, doubt that the end result of such a meeting would have left them on anything better than indifferent terms.
Tauni- Might have met her when assigned as a healer, but otherwise probably know her on scouting missions. Ayla could have been the healer that healed her when she met Dalvan.
Vrykkas- Your profile is showing blank, So I was unable to read your background.
Ayla is 44 years old at the present.

Think it would make more sense for Lethe to have brought Tika with her (Since Tika did sort of know the man)

About Segelios. Sorry for asking about Dalvan, hence the Knowledge (local) check previously.
Chock it up to Viyko's many travels, and the fact that he sometimes only realizes thing in hindsight.
I'll be more patient in regard to responses. :)
With a Knowledge (local) check of 22, is there anything interesting/important he should know about the place, other than it where is the ir'Tolveks' estate is?

I agree, though Viyko does tend to have a higher regard for Druids (and tribal peoples in general) based on his worldview.

Ayla wrote:Right... Make the profile, then put something in it. I always forget that second step... It's live now.
Vrykkas- Your profile is showing blank, So I was unable to read your background.
Vrykkas- If Ayla has had the chance to meet Vrykkas I can see the two being friends or having mutual respect for one another, but their views would probably put them both into heated debates, assuming that Vrykkas would even speak his views. They both worship ancestors, however their view of the ancestors and what is allowed of them differed vastly. Ayla believes that necromancy is a defiling of the ancestors spirits, disrupting their peaceful rest, regardless of the actual attachment the ancestor's spirit has to the undead. These same views could also have also pushed them apart in the same respect. More than likely, Ayla would have stayed away from the undead, and may have avoided Vrykkas.

To a certain extent, yes. But none of you could really go wrong here, as you're all veterans and would know what to avoid in such circumstances, as they were certainly numerous. We all cope with loss in our own way. It tells me and others of who your characters are.
I'll tell you if I feel you're taking too many liberties. No worries.
