For many generations, the Great Unkindness has roosted in the many branches of the Eldest Tree. The ravens who dwell here have intelligence and the power of speech, unlike their kin in the rest of the Great Wood. For as long as your stories tell, your ancestors have lived in relative peace. Certainly, the occasional snake tries to sneak into your nests, or a wildcat will bring one of your kin down, but there has never been a threat to the whole Unkindness.
But now, an ill wind blows from the north, rattling the Elder Witch's white feathers. Her dreams are dark of late, and so she calls for you, the greatest heroes the Unkindness knows in this generation, to fly out into the Great Wood... lest her dreams of the forest's doom come true.
Greetings, everyone! I'm going to run a short game based on the fun little module Nevermore. You will play as awakened ravens, seeking out a threat that endangers the forest itself. Expect to face situations where cunning and a clever tongue will serve you better than battle, for you're little ravens in a big forest, and many are the threats that could eat you given half the chance.
This is a very short module (about a half-dozen encounters), and the David-vs-Goliath feel of the adventure could easily be shattered by some clever spell selection, so we will use the pre-generated characters that come with the module. They are:
C’a’rrrar’kkk the Singer, a bard
R’rrr ar’kkk, Son of T’r’k, a sorcerer
T’rrr’aaa’rrr’k of the Great Tree, a druid
S’kkk’aaa’rrrk the Shadow, a rogue
If you are interested, please list at least two characters you'd be willing to play, in order of preference. I don't anticipate a huge demand to get in the game, but I'd also like a short bit of in-character writing with your submission, using the voice of whichever character you'd like to play.
Please let me know if there are any questions. I look forward to toying... er, playing with some ravens!

Looking forward to this. I wouldn't mind playing either...

My character preference, most to least interested:
1. S’kkk’aaa’rrrk the Shadow, a rogue
2. R’rrr ar’kkk, Son of T’r’k, a sorcerer
3. T’rrr’aaa’rrr’k of the Great Tree, a druid
4. C’a’rrrar’kkk the Singer, a bard
The Shadow looked out from his perch at the end of one of the Eldest Tree's outermost branches, apart from the rest of the Great Unkindness, as the sun sank below the horizon and stained the clouds fiery red and orange.
The others are afraid of the night and it's winged hunters, but not me; it's the truest test of stealth and cunning. Any fool can hide in the shadows of day! But to be so quick and so quiet that even the owls don't mark your passing? To be a shadow, even in the darkness? That is skill.
The sun disappeared into twilight, it's fire now but a dim glow, and S’kkk’aaa’rrrk launched himself into the gloom.
Come, Death, let us play! And may the best cheater win!

After reading the character profiles, my original post seems more fitting in personality for the bard, whom I've basically no interest in playing. So, a Shadow variation on the same theme would be something like this:
The others are afraid of the night and it's winged hunters, but not I; it's the truest test of stealth and cunning. Any fool can hide in the shadows of day! But to be so quiet that even the owls don't mark your passing? To be a shadow, even in the darkness? That is skill. All it takes is foresight and planning. Where fools rush in, only the prepared emerge.
The sun disappeared into twilight, it's fire now but a dim glow, and S’kkk’aaa’rrrk pondered a moment longer before she launched herself into the gloom.
Come then, Death, and let us play. I've guessed your hand; have you mine?
Am I to pity them for their differences, those that did not pity me for mine? Perhaps their blind symmetry allows them no other way.
He weaved his way up and around the Eldest Tree, following the hints of his Path seen by his face which looked into the world-as-it-would-be. It was this face that peered through the angles to reveal signs of his Destiny, giving him insights into fortune and magic.
What good would pity do either them or me? In the end, will we all not have been what we were fated to be? But if this is so, then what matter any feelings, any thoughts, if they not bear any effect on our outcomes? Indeed, what then matter any actions?
Lost in thought, both his eyes stared off into different distances, and the son of T’r’k meandered wherever his feet took him. Suddenly he found himself under the perch of the Elder Witch, her coven of servants and sycophants staring at him. He returned their stare, then slowly blinked his fated eye.
"Bring to me C’a’rrrar’kkk the Singer, T’rrr’aaa’rrr’k of the Great Tree, S’kkk’aaa’rrrk the Shadow, and R’rrr ar’kkk, Son of T’r’k!" came the Witch's call from on high, and an uneasy shiver made it's way through the crowd which watched him.
"Elder Witch," one tremulously called up to her, "the Son of T'r'k... He is already here!"
"Of course he is, my child; of course he is," came her reply.

Seems like the rogue is of interest to several folks; after writing a bit for him, I'd be more than happy to play the sorcerer along the lines presented in my above sample; i.e. the normal half of his face seeing the normal world, and the sloped half of his face perceiving (or so he thinks) the magical/destined world.

Oops, I forgot to do the IC sample part. Here is something in the format of an interaction between the two characters I'm most interested in.
On a peripheral branch of the raven's Great Tree, one small raven peered out contentedly over the woods around her, noting the slight wind that shook the branches and the way the golden late-afternoon sun played across the leaves. Occasionally she trilled to herself. This was C'a'rrrar'kk, a particularly free-spirited bird who was a singer of the tree's legends.
Suddenly her reverie was disturbed by a flapping of wings and an angry caw as another raven, a female with sleek-groomed feathers, alit on the branch next to her. "There you are! I have been looking for you for too long!"
"What under the sun do you want, T'rrr'aaa'rrr'k?" the Singer demanded, hopping slightly away in her irritation. She had known the other female for some time and they had flown together often, but found T'rrr'aaa'rrr'k very overwhelming at times.
"What have you been cawing about to my hatchlings?" was the prim response. "They come to me with their feathers raised about lurid tales of horrid fey creatures, wolves with no eyes that climb the trees to devour ravens, and all such nonsense."
"I do not just caw about these things," C'a'rrrar'kk answered, with half-joking offense. "I sing their songs. And you should be careful about calling my tales absurd. There are more dangers out there--" she jerked her head to gesture to the forest beyond "--than what you've seen in your seasons, and I don't recommend you tempt them."

I'm probably coming to this a little too late but what the heck.
I don't really care which character I play.
As for my style, probably best to just have you check out posts using this alias. In that, Vralk is a slightly reflavoured Raven familiar to a Tengu in an all Tengu group solving a Murder's Mark (yes, it is a Murder at Murder's Mark) :-)

I'm in the other table of that game. :D And it's not too late until tonight!

All right, after considerable deliberation, fiddling around with the group, and staring at names, I've decided on the members of the unkindness!
Speaker for the Dead as C’a’rrrar’kkk the Singer
Baticeer as T’rrr’aaa’rrr’k of the Great Tree
Goodwicki as R’rrr ar’kkk, Son of T’r’k
Vralk as S’kkk’aaa’rrrk the Shadow
Please report to the Discussion thread as soon as possible! I'll get the Gameplay thread up later tonight.
