"Let us go onward to the town then."
Quinn does his best to follow the trail, checking as he does so for any hidden paths or enemies on the side of the road.

Snow too sniffs the air and searches with his keen yellow eyes.

"Perhaps we should find a watering hole and some information from the locals."
Quinn Arbalest
|
"I am quite sure I don't. But we'll call you only in great need. If we are to continue to elude our enemy, blowing up a tavern in the middle of town would be a poor way to go about it."
| Sindra Disdal |
While the men go to the bar to get information I will speak to a random towns person. Good day, we are new to town and looking to get some information. Can you tell me what is going on and who is in charge that we can speak to.
gather info: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Quinn Arbalest
|
"Will you be coming to the tavern, Sevence?"
Quinn Arbalest
|
"Fair enough. But I won't be there to for the liquor. Drinking from an open container in unfriendly territory is highly unwise. Besides, it's information I want, not ale."
Quinn makes his way toward the tavern.
| The Nameless GM |
Actually there is no tavern. There used to be, then it got burned down by a dragon. The drinks survived!
Walking into the town you see a few citizens walking around, a couple of merchants with some basic stuff, ammo, weapons, potions, etc.
Whispers of a lost Queen catch your ear as you walk among the people. Sindra's charms get this little tidbit of info:
"The Queen has gone missing! She went to bring light back into the world by heading into the dark forest. She hasn't returned, and neither has the light. Speak with Elenore, her bodyguard. She might know more."
| The Nameless GM |
"Good sir paladin, the Queen has gone missing! She was head to the forest to try and remove the curse that has befallen the land! If you want to help us, go speak with the gatekeeper for the gate. He's a bit of a pushover, so just tell him I sent you."
Just before you leave Elenore she pulls back Sevence.
"Also, in the forest there's an old forge where the resistance used to make armor and weapons before the Handsome Sorcerer turned them all into slaves, trees, or both. Can you find me a set of armor there? I'm supposed to be protecting this town but I don't have any armor."
Quinn Arbalest
|
"Well, that settles that. We should investigate this forest. Should we rest and get supplies before we go?"
Quinn Arbalest
|
Quinn leads the company forward, toward the gate that will lead them to the forest.
"The thought of these people being turned into slaves, trees, or some odd tree-slaves is troubling indeed. Though perhaps some of these newly made tree-folk will help us. There is great power in a forest and if it is turned against the Sorcerer we might find great aid." he says as the adventurers travel through the town.
| The Nameless GM |
As you approach the gate you see the normal gatekeeper walk into the forest. When the gate shuts, there's a guy there who looks like he works out. And uses his outdoor voice inside.
"I AM MR. TORGUE!! I'VE TAKEN THE PLACE OF THE USUAL GATEKEEPER WHILE HE WAITS FOR YOU TO DO MY SERIES OF TASKS TO PROVE YOUR BAD@$$ITUDE!!!"
The whole time he's talking he's flexing his muscles, mostly in Sindra's direction, a little towards Sevence.
| The Nameless GM |
"I'M GLAD YOU ASKED!! THE LOCAL BARMAID HAS A PROBLEM. HEAD ON DOWN TO THE BAR AND HELP HER OUT!!" Mr. Torgue says as he points in the direction of the ta-- uh, just realized I said there wasn't one.
Ok you're at the tavern! Inside you see the barmaid by the name of Moxxie. She's being harassed by a couple of patrons.
"Hey Sugars. Listen, bar's closed, but these two numbskulls can't take a hint. Mind doing me a favor and getting rid of them?"
Quinn Arbalest
|
Quinn takes a second to adjust to the volume of the guardsman's voice and the reality warping around him. Growing impatient with delays, he looks intently at the unwanted patrons, then draws his Greatsword with a flourish. Snow growls menacingly at the two drunkards.
"Alright boys, we can do this the easy way or the hard way."

Quinn:
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Snow:
Intimidate: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2
How is a Wolf less intimidating than your average person? -4 Cha Modifier makes me sad.
Quinn Arbalest
|
-2 Intimidate from a snarling wolf? Did he fall asleep in an adorable fashion or something during the attempt?
| The Nameless GM |
That is exactly what happened! As Snow starts to snarl, it ends up yawning and a very cute fashion.
Quinn, on the other hand, looks like he's ready to cut someone in half! One of the two backs down, running out the door like the little P**SY he is!!
The other one actually says something as he leaves. "Alright, alright, I can take a hint. B#!$+!!"
Suddenly you hear Mr. Torgue's voice in your heads. "DISRESPECT!!! HUNT HIM DOWN AND PUNCH HIM IN THE GUT SO HARD HE PUKES BLOOD!!!!"
Quinn Arbalest
|
Quinn shrugs and puts his sword back in his scabbard. He shakes his head at his courageous but adorable wolf.
"We gotta do what we gotta do."
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Unarmed Strike:
To Hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Critical (edit):
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Damage: 1d3 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
| The Nameless GM |
Quinn's strike lands in just the right place that the guy indeed pukes blood. When the guy finally regains consciousness he'll wonder what hit him and how long he's been out!
"Thanks, Sugar. Tell Mr. Torgue I've been taken care of. He'll have his next task for you. He was always big on those 'prove your worth' missions."
Quinn Arbalest
|
Quinn walks away, his fists bloody. He grows weary of the gatekeeper's games.
"I don't know what trust we need to leave a town. Surely the danger is of letting folk in, not out to deal with dangers that you yourselves have fled from. Let's get this over with so that we can be on our way."
Quinn Arbalest
|
"Well, we best get this over with at any rate. My wolf is tired."
Quinn heads back out to the gate.
| Sevence of the Order of Truth |
"Remind me to never upset you, Quinn. I saw and heard the whole thing from outside. Nice punch." He give Snow a little scratch behind the ears.
"Perhaps we should rest. I've nearly exausted my divine gifts on that first combat. If nothing else, let me rest alone during your next task from the gatekeeper."
Quinn Arbalest
|
"Thanks Sevence. I think perhaps we are all getting a bit worn out. Does the town have an inn we can stay at? We can deal with that loudmouth gatekeeper when we're better rested."
Quinn Arbalest
|
"Thank you kindly barmaid. Let's all get some sleep and we'll travel to the forest tomorrow when we're well rested."
Quinn Arbalest
|
Quinn goes upstairs and climbs into one of the beds. Snow curls up at his feet, yawning again in an adorable fashion.
| The Nameless GM |
You guys wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world! Or at least the Handsome Sorcerer. Daily stuff has returned. Sevence, I'mma need a prepared spell list for the day.
As you head on out, you see Mr. Torgue in the town stocks. He's screaming something about blowing up the ocean. Anywho! Get back on track and go find the gatekeeper in the forest.
| The Nameless GM |
Just so the rest of you knew what he had prepared. Besides, it's what any good caster would do, including the NPC.
Oh yeah, Smokey do yo thing too.
Entering the forest, you see all the trees have died, but not fallen yet. Dead leaves muffle your steps as you trudge through the forest. You see a man that hanged himself from a tree. Poor bastard...Moving on!
| Smokey Big Boom |
Level 1: Bomber's Eye, Targeted Bomb Admixture, Cure Light Wounds. (2 left to prepare)
Level 2: Invisibility, Cure Moderate Wounds. (1 left to prepare.)

Oh, I've got Charm Animal and Longstrider.
