Frissa's got some ok blasts (produce flame, burning hands, spear of purity, sound burst) and is decent in social situations. She's got the tongues curse but nobody she's adventured with has ever been able to understand her (was Ignan only, but she's just added Celestial, so that may well change). At this point, she just thinks she goes into a private fog and nobody has corrected her of the notion. She has Obscuring Mist and the ability to see through it so she'll sometimes fog things up, as she sees fit.

Not much she can do as far as prepared in advance options, but if anyone wants to peek at her list, that's fine. She's short on resources after being killed and raised up 2 scenarios ago. Wands of Bless and CLW.

Morrolan is a halfway decent face (since conversion domain), but certainly not great. Only a +6 for bluff and diplomacy. Got a +15 for intimidate and +11 for sense motive.
Mymost likely useful abilities are communal pro evil, silence, comp lang, and detect lies.

I think we should get the drink and snacks for the other captain. How much?

Can any one think of what else we should buy?

How much is a potion of glibness?

Anyone have UMD for scrolls of disguise other?

Brandy is a luxury good out on the seas. 10 gp for a flask. The best alcohol they have available here is a wine that costs 15 gp per bottle.

Nothing I can think of.

Quote:

Glibness is a 3rd-level bard spell; the minimum caster level is 7th. So a potion would cost 3 x 7 x 50 = 1050 gp, and last for 70 minutes. In Pathfinder Society, you'll need a Fame of 9 to purchase it.

Frissa, what killed you?

Axe crit from the BBEG at the end of 5-06 (You Have What You Hold). Dude charged, critted, confirmed with a 19 or something and she was dead dead dead in one shot.

I was a bit bitter about it because the GM was painfully non-responsive about PC questions and tactics stuff that would have been germane in that fight, but I've since moved past that and taken it as a chance to have a character change - she participated in 5-99 after that and dumped Osirion for something a bit more challenging and reflective of her personal journey, and is a fair amount less reckless than she was before.

The end result is she's a bit behind the cash curve for the time being since she lost all her cash in hand, all her cash from that scenario and had to sell her magic weapon and dump a bunch of PP for Restorations. Luckily the other PCs kicked money in and she didn't have to sell her brand new fancy breastplate at the same time. If that had happened, I'd be hard-pressed to continue playing her as a wade through combat spell-slinger chica.

Funny enough, someone suggested a Crab Apparatus when I lamented in another game that my cleric never seems to have anything interesting to buy/save for and so I always seem to just get a +1 whatever and so on.

I will buy the brandy (10 gp), Taldan sweets (say 5 gp worth), disguise kit, and convert another 85 gp to barter goods (do you want it specified?).

There are potions or scrolls that might be helpful, but Morrolan is out of cash. Consider if you want to buy something even if someone else has to activate it for you.
I might be willing to spend prestige if everyone thinks something is necessary enough.

No, that's fine. It's things like bolts of cloth, small metal tools, spices and preservatives, lamp oil, and so forth.

Pavanna is willing to bankroll quite a bit actually she's got some cash. Plus she'll be able to lord it over everyone...

A note about Pavanna to the other players, I do play her much more briskly than I do other characters. As I noted in the recruitment thread she's a bit rough personality wise. If anyone is feeling personally that I am taking her harshness too far or that it is negatively affecting your play experience (instead of just being fun/funny to have a racist Cheliaxian negative energy cleric at the table) please let me know and I will happily tone her down. At present she's in imp heaven though with Alden in the party.

I will be away from my keyboard this afternoon and evening.

Would everybody chime in and help decide where to go first? The party was deciding to go to Gold Street and the Thieves Guild, but there's the Guts that Pavanna has exposed. I suppose you could split up and cover more ground by going in both directions...

Hitting the Guts makes our map worthless, probably. My vote would be to stay top-side for a while (head to the Thief's Guild on Gold Street first), and then hit the Guts if we draw too much heat and after we figure out the lay of the land.

Hello. Back home, safe, sound, and somehow owning even more dice and PFS shirts.

I'll be packing away tonight, and then resuming the game tomorrow. I don't expect any more interruptions.

I would like to move through this scene.

I understand that Pavanna has set herself up as lead querent, but please: anybody else, feel free to jump in, ask questions, agree to prices or try to haggle.

I agree. Just because I talk alot doesn't mean I have all the questions that need asking either :)

Incidentally, there is a mechanic running through this adventure that might influence your decisions.

There are four factions in Pezzack, each with its own network of spies. So, the more you poke about in one direction or another, the more awareness points you accumulate on each track.

For example, if you were to attend a formal dimmer at the Governor's Mansion, you'd be noticed by the faction loyal to Cheliax, in a positive way, and maybe by one or two of the rebel factions, which would eye you more suspiciously.

You can try to slip by the spy networks, but it's difficult to be selective: if you're asking at a tavern about an individual, it's hard to hide that from one faction but not the others, because you don't know which faction the barkeep is spying for.

So, if you really wanted to get in touch with, say, the Galtian rebels, you could start asking after Jacks Falger from one establishment to another, and you would eventually come to their attention.

(This is easy to keep track of in a play-by-post, but I can see why keeping track of four influence tracks would be harrowing at a table.)

So, to keep track of things for myself, I made some notes about the people, places and things at the bottom of Frissa's page which I'll update as we learn more:

paizo.com/people/FrissaroseHoblebom

What do you folk think - should we be asking about stuff as we go or tackling these searches one at a time? For instance, here at Aunties, we have two leads - one for Ollandil alias Jax Telandril in addition to us knowing that Phelerosa Ciucci is supposed to be working here.

I'm of a mind to try to discretely see if Phelerosa is here and then assuming she is, press her to see if she knows anything about the Telandril alias...

Dark Archive

Also, Pavanna has the best bluff (and Frissa is tied for the best diplomacy).

If we're looking to pass a secret message (i.e. asking Auntie about Phelerosa), it had best be Pavanna. If we're information gathering and want to spread the notice around, Frissa could be the main asker.

Another thought I had is that if we believe we're being followed, Frissa has Obscuring Mist, which we could use in an alley with multiple exits to maybe give us a chance of slipping a tail.

Dark Archive

Cleric 4 HP: 23/23 | AC 20| 12 | 18 | CMD 16 | Fort +3| Ref +3| Will +7| Init +2| Perc +3| Sense Motive +11

Pavanna's orderly mind thanks you, even if you are a gnome ;)

Since Auntie's overlooks the Manukirt warehouse, that should be our next stop anyway. Maybe you should ask around about Jaks Arunai here?

Maybe I'll try that on the way out if Phelerosa doesn't know (assuming she is a Friendly or can be made into one). That way we reduce our exposure to prying ears.

With all this Jaks/Jax/Jacks and faction mixing stuff, I figure Ollandil's probably been "disappeared" and will turn up in one of the fortresses we aren't supposed to go to.

Dark Archive

Cleric 4 HP: 23/23 | AC 20| 12 | 18 | CMD 16 | Fort +3| Ref +3| Will +7| Init +2| Perc +3| Sense Motive +11

My working theory is that Ollandil's aliases are for him to gain access to these factions to spy on them, but for who? I can think of one information broker who might go to such lengths and then trick the Society into being his escape plan...

GM Chris, have you considered running the exclusive for the coming PbP Gameday?

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

This is the first I have heard of a PbP Gameday.

EDIT: I have not received the Exclusive "Rise of Serpents", so I can't commit to running that.

"Siege of the Serpents" has a breath-taking number of different maps, and I can't afford to buy all those pdfs in order to run those combats. So, no.

But thank you for the recommendation.

Let me point you here then:

http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2smo9?PFS-PbP-Gameday-IV-Rise-of-the-Siege-of-S erpents

It's a PbP "convention" being run between September and December, with two "slots" - one for the Serpent’s Rise Exclusive (4 star GM or higher) in the first half of the time and one for the Siege of Serpents Special (any GM worth their salt) in the second half.

In addition to those two slots, people can run their own PbP games as part of the "con" and for those and the Exclusive/Special games, GMs get GM boons (They have been race boons previously) and players+GMs get to roll for convention boons.

The pdfs (of the adventure at least) should be free to GMs as part of the convention support. You would be sent the Exclusive if you were part of this.

Anyway, I thought I'd ask since you're one of the few who could run it.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Thanks.

Pathfinder Rulebook wrote:

You can use Intimidate to force an opponent to act friendly toward you for 1d6 × 10 minutes with a successful check. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.

Success: If successful, the opponent will:

...give you information you desire
...take actions that do not endanger it
...offer other limited assistance
After the intimidate expires, the target treats you as unfriendly and may report you to local authorities.

So, a rules note: As long as you keep Phelerosa with you, the Intimidation check remains active. Once she leaves you, Aldan's Intimidation check wears off in 1d6 x 10 minutes. You cannot attempt a Diplomacy check while she's under the effects of Intimidation, but you can do so afterwards, with the modifiers for her starting attitude.
