Alright lads, I've waited for Quintus long enough. On to the next round.
The thunderous roar of the Raven’s assault pack echoes across the battlefield. As the Astartes descends like a darkened angel, the guardsmen stare at the sky in awe. For one shining moment, the soldiers hope of salvation glimmers.
A great shadow takes to the sky, while another drives two massive hordes toward the beleaguered humans. The great slavering hosts tear across the terrain closing the gap. As the first wave of terror approach Battle Brothers Calculus, N’keln, and Solar open up with their bolters. Beasts fall in groups as the explosive shells tear through their bodies.
Brother Lanius
No internet at new house yet, so posting's where I can get it.
"Stay." Lanius called simply to the guards, revving his chainsword and taking a moment to size up the hordes bearing down upon them. "But keep firing."
With those few words he activated his jump pack once more, diving into the closest horde with the Emperor's wrath coursing through his veins.
Weapon Skill 47+10=57: 1d100 ⇒ 72
Charging gaunt horde, not sure if horde size modifier makes that a hit. If it was a hit though...
Chainsword damage: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
tearing: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 this one
Brother Lanius
My bad, will try again! Not that it matters quite so much with this only doing one damage anyway.
1d10 + 3 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 11 = 24
1d10 + 3 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 11 = 23
Righteous fury (autoconfirms against Xenos): 1d10 + 3 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 11 = 17
41 damage. Oh for not a horde.
Watch Captain Tiberion
I'm sorry fellas work once again got in the way. I apologize that I hadn't let you know. Calc yes that is a miss.
The warrior and shrike will continue to advance. And the Hormie horde is charging you Lanius.
Through the Imperial waves of las-fire and the sporadic volleys of bolter rounds, the enraged horde advances. Another shreak echoes across the sky and matching snarl escapes the Warrior's throat. The lead elements of the Hormagaunt mass charges the lone Raven.
Gaunts attack Lanius using Swift attack
1d100 ⇒ 95
1d100 ⇒ 40
the first obviously whiffs, however the second strikes home. Damage says....
3d10 + 5 ⇒ (5, 9, 10) + 5 = 29 to the head. (No dodge or parry)
I need an unmodified Toughness test Lanius.
Battle Brother Raziel
Raziel could see, as he leapt into the fray with his jet pack, a horde attempting to engulf his fellow Assault Marine. He snarled as he dove into the fray at full power, chainsword already growling with anticipation as he attacked the Tyranids.
Raziel is charging towards Lanius with his jet pack and attacking using Wrathful Descent
Weapon Skill 62 + 10: 1d100 ⇒ 74 - with the horde size, that should be a hit, if not a good one.
Chainsword damage, Tearing, Flesh Render: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 181d10 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 201d10 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
20 points of damage to the horde. In additional, Wrathful Descent means that I do an addition 1d10 points of Magnitude damage with a successful charging melee attack vs a Horde
Wrathful Descent: 1d10 ⇒ 4
20 points + 4 points of Magnitude damage
Watch Captain Tiberion
The decent of the Crimson Angel shakes the very earth beneath the ravenous horde. The molecular edged teeth of his blade scream through air and flesh. His raucous fury and hatred for the Xenos mob fuels each swing. Carapace and chitin cover the battlefield. The feral minds of the remaining Xenos break their hold from their Synapse Driver. They begin to flit and flee the battle.
The near silent crack of the N'keln's bolter is lost amongst the tempest of close combat. His aim holds true as the slug strike solid into the monster's torso.
Whipped into a maddened rage the termagaunts let loose an openin volleys at the Blood Angel.
(1)Termagaunts targeting Raziel 1d100 ⇒ 62
(2) 1d100 ⇒ 98
(3) 1d100 ⇒ 29
Only the last hits, damage is 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (5, 6) + 9 = 20 or 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (8, 9) + 9 = 26
Raz dmg is 26 pen 3. It can be dodged unlike melee from hordes. N'keln roll dgm, and to answer your question about flaming them. You would need to move around the guardsmen and Raz and Lanius. 2 turns more or less. Quintus and Solar go ahead.
Battle Brother Raziel
Raziel saw the termagaunts open their volley and attempted to roll out of the way across the shattered carapaces of the Hormagaunts.
Dodge 55: 1d100 ⇒ 14 4 degrees of success. Sure, when I only need to dodge one shot.
He heard the shriek of their projectiles as they passed by him.
Brother Solar
Solar switchs to hellfire bolt rounds as he goes to three point stance and fires upon the warrior on semi-auto.
I doubt he's less than 50m from me for close range
Bs 50 + 10 semi-auto = 60: 1d100 ⇒ 23 Hit with 3 degrees of success. So 2 hits
Damage 1: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15Damage 1 tearing: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 that's 15 damage that ignores natural armour
Damage 2: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16Damage 2 tearing: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Rightious fury: 1d10 ⇒ 3 22 damage that ignores armour
Updating my ammo count on my profile
Brother Solar
I'm going to fire up some persistant squad modes then use my rally cry to get back all the cohesion lost. Anyone who wants to know what they do have a look at my profile.
Coordinated Strike - Cost 2
Considered Defence - Cost 3 - Ultramarine/White Consul power that I can share with everyone on a -20 command test
Command -20 = 44: 1d100 ⇒ 41
Excelent! And then my rally cry will give us back 5 and leave us with Quintus's rally cry
For considered defence I'll take +4 cover AC

The warrior is going to attempt to dodge Solar's nasty bolts
As the Salamander's round punches through the beast's carapace, it prepares to dodge the incoming rounds from Brother Solar.
1d100 ⇒ 35
The warrior manages to dodge the first round, however the second bolt tears into the monster's flesh. The terrible scream of the tyranids's pain is deafening to the Guardsmen.
Quintus you have until tomorrow to post or be bumped again. Lanius go ahead.
Watch Captain Tiberion
Alright well since I haven't heard from Quintus I'm gonna try and do what I think he might do... Lanius you're up. You and Raziel are no longer considered engaged by the Hormagaunts Horde.
Brother-Apothecary Quintus surveys the field as the skirmish unfolds. With the snap-crack of the ineffective las fire and the distinctive bark of his brothers' bolters, he blink-clicks the icon activating his external sound dampeners. As information feeds across his screen, Brother Lanius' vital signs begin to flash an amber color. Quintus turns to his brothers in their current position, "Lanius is in Amber status. I'm going down to provide aid, cover me while I move and treat him." Without waiting for a reply he begins his movement toward the Raven.
Run action, approximately one turn movement left to reach Lanius.
Brother Lanius
Ah, right. Yup, down to 7. Ah the face. I might pull back for a turn before that becomes fatal.
Brother Lanius snarls as the gaunts rip at his armour, leaving long slashes in his Armour and perhaps more importantly, his chest.
As quick as possible he takes to the air, leaping right next to the medic and lifting his flamer at the ready. "Method unsustainable. Attempting alternative." he explained, eyeing Raziel's more damaging descent.
Full action disengage and move to Quintus.
Watch Captain Tiberion
The Warrior growls and lets a stream of saliva drip from it's maw. It's gaze fixed on the lone Angel. Leveling what appears to be a ranged weapon, it lets loose a burst of wriggling organisms. The visceral spray of mucus and worm streak through the air toward Brother Raziel.
Semi-Auto Burst at Raziel:30+10Semi+10Short Range1d100 ⇒ 48
Only 1rd mangages to catch you though. You may attempt to dodge, as this is a new initiative step. Damage is 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 Pen 4
Calculus you're up
Battle Brother Raziel
Dodge 55: 1d100 ⇒ 93 That's a big nope on being able to dodge
17 Pen 4 vs Armor 8, Toughness 8 = 5 wounds, from 22 leaves me with 17
The Blood Angel gritted his teeth as the Tyranid shot hit his right leg, penetrating and biting into his flesh. "You shall pay for that in blood and bone, foul abomination!" Raziel said to the Warrior.
Watch Captain Tiberion
I've given Calculus enough time. I'm going to go for him and the Shrike.
Brother Calculus draws a bead on the Termagaunt horde and lets fly a semi automatic burst with his bolter.
Semi Auto burst 48+10Semi=58+Mag Bonus 1d100 ⇒ 11 All rounds land on target damage:

Additional damage for RF: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Pen 4
The rounds for the Iron Hand's bolter tear through the mass of bodies. They explode sending bone and chitin and carapace across the field. Although feral, the minor beasts screech in fear and flee the field following their melee counterparts in a withdrawal.
Out of the cloud cover the Winged Warrior descends like a comet upon the static Marines. As it's hooved feet strike the ground, it tucks it's wing tightly behind it's back. The strikes out in with lightning speed scything at closest Astartes.
Solar I believe that is you...Not a charge move just a standard half action move. No Lightning Attack this round...
WS: 1d100 ⇒ 84 Both swings go wide. Raziel you're up.
Battle Brother Raziel
Raziel saw the Shrike Warrior land and strike at Solar, and he engaged his jump pack to attack the winged beast. "For the Emperor and Sanguinius!" he shouted at he lashed with his chainsword.

Warrior will attempt to Parry the attacks 1d100 ⇒ 70...and fails.
The Blood Angel's split second decision to engage the Shrike has proven to be a wise maneuver. His chain sword screams as it tears into the beast's flesh. The fluid strikes maim the beast, but it manages to maintain its attack.
Oh how the kill steals will come. N'keln, Quintus, and Solar finish it up.
Brother Solar
How's the warrior looking? Is it bloodied? Is it on it's last legs?
Also how do you work firing into hand to hand combat?
Assuming there's no/neglagable chance to be hit by friendly fire:
Solar switches to his boltpistol and combat knife and fires at the rearing beast
50+10 aim +20 size=80: 1d100 ⇒ 32 Taking advantage of the creature's distraction Solar's shot hits home

Well... the Skrike is left standing, the other is an exploding pile of mush. As for shooting into close combat, as long as the target is unaware, it's not a big deal. HOWEVER... If you do miss, there is a 50/50 chance that the rounds will hit another target ie. Another Marine or another enemy within range.
With a great shudder the Warrior that had been driving the hordes of Gaunts slumps to the ground in a great pile of death. Its acidic blood and steaming carapace make for a gruesome site.
Following the flurry of strikes from Brother Raziel's blade, Solar's bolt pistol barks at the winged terror sending an explosive round into its body. Brother Quintus spins on the spot, temporarily ignoring his sacred duty of preserving the lives of Brother Marines. He draws a tight bead upon the Monster and attempts loose a bolt.

A metallic thunk is all the is heard from the Veteran's bolter. Whether it be the Emperor's will or the twisted hand of fate, the Tyrannic War Veteran fails to kill the beast.
So close... well the task lies to Either Lanius or Calculus, it is your turns.
Cormeg McCammon
Alright, waited long enough for those two. By the it is with regret that I inform you all the Quintus has lost interest in the game. I'm play out his character until the end of combat and then maybe a little more.
Lanius turns at the sound of the malfunctioning bolter. Giving Quintus a quick glance he engages his jump pack and takes flight once more. He descends with the Wrath of Angels and swings home his tearing blade

Brother Lanius blades separates the beast's head from the rest of it's corpse. Brother Quintus runs back to the site of the melee, continually monitoring Lanius and Raziel's bio signs. Brothers, let attend your wounds to the best of my ability while we have some respite.
Ok so I do healing a little different than in the book. I don't think it really heals that well, which is true for first aid but these are Marines. So my version is on a successful test, 1d10+Intel Bonus.
Medicae: 1d100 ⇒ 65 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Everyone gets 11 wounds back. That is the most you will ever get back in this encounter. Continue play.
Battle Brother Raziel
Okay, so, sitrep time. Two hordes have been momentarily broken, the Shrike and Warrior are both dead. While Raziel and Lanius are being healed by Quintus, perhaps another member of the Kill-Team, particularly one known for their good diplomatic skills, can ask the human survivors about the Magos.
Brother Solar
Trusting his battle brothers to maintain a watch for another attack brother Solar approached the imperial guardsmen.
"Who's in charge here?"
When the young commissar identifies himself
"I need a sit rep on your squad and any other survivors in the area. Our mission is to search and retrieve a member of the Adeptus Mechanichus Biologis who crash landed here" Solar gestures towards the crash site "He is named Magos Vyakai and any information on his current location would be of great use to us, our mission and by extension the defence of the sector"
When the commissar finishes talking
"The next issue is what to do with you. If you can make it to the bunker north of this position and secure it we can extract you when we pull out. Alternatively, if you wish to further aid the emperors work you may join us. Understand that we cannot allow you to slow us down, the recovery of this magos is much important than the lives of your men. Perhaps, you are aware of somewhere that a vehicle can be procured in the area.
How many of them are there? Do you want any skill tests?
Watch Captain Tiberion
The damaged bolter sides clear of the breach, and drops to the ground. It is a crumpled mess of metal and powdered explosive. Thank you Brother Calculus. Apparently it was not my fate to slay that beast, perhaps the Lord Emperor has greater plans for me.
As Brother Solar approaches the entrenched Guardsmen, they swing their las-rifles attempting to track a new threat. A voice cracks like a whip Stand down! You aim at our saviors and a loyal son of the God-Emperor! Do not soil your honor, by acting so fool-hardy! SERGEANT! Get me status reports! Your eyes and auto senses focus immediately upon the black coated Commissar. He appears to be quite young for the posting, but you can see that war has taken a toll on his youthful appearance. Walking toward you he holsters his bolt pistol and deactivates the power fist on his arm.
"Who's in charge here?"
He snaps a quick salute Lieutenant-Commissar Sander of the Verenian 4th and the remaining men of Abel Company.
"I need a sit rep on your squad and any other survivors in the area. Our mission is to search and retrieve a member of the Adeptus Mechanichus Biologis who crash landed here"
Commissar Sander glances quickly over at the crash site. With a quick raise of his eye brow, he looks back as Brother begins to speak again.
"He is named Magos Vyakai and any information on his current location would be of great use to us, our mission and by extension the defence of the sector"
Solar: Roll a (+10)Command Check. Also anyone with Tactics: Air Combat, Orbital Drop, or Defensive; roll a (+0)check.

In terms of background a White Consul would have a lot of experience in drop pod assaults, as it is their speciality. But Solar hasn't studied it. Can I roll with a negitive?
Also background wise Solar as a White Consul would have experience in working closly with the imperial guard. So I have Common Lore (Imperial Guard) if it's of any use
Watch Captain Tiberion
Raziel, Calculus, and N'keln: you have all yet to choose a Tactics specialty. Yes you can with a (-10), as for your Lore not yet.
Boots crunch along the broken ground approaching Solar and the young Commissar. An older looking soldier steps toward the Commissar. As you look him up and down, you make out the fading Sergeant's stripes. The Sergeant places his thumb to the side of his and begins to speak with a voice that reminds you of tank tread rolling over gravel. Pardon my Lord. Sir... The Company has lost roughly three quarter's of it strength, we roughly have two squads and an Autocannon Team. Also Sir, it is with regret that I inform you that Commander Vaylund has fallen. You are in command.
Once again the youthfulness leaves the Commissar's face. He places one palm over his face and wipes away sweat and frustration. Regaining his composure, he turns back to Brother Solar. My Lords, we are still able to fight in His name. Whatever assistance we can provide we shall. As to answer your query about the location of the Magos, the shuttle was deserted long before our arrival and any of our engagements with the Great Devourers' probes. We did, however, see civilians running North-north west of this position toward the Central Control station. Perhaps the Magos made off with them?
Stepping away for a second, Commissar Sander spits out a wad of phlegm and blood. He speaks quietly and quickly with his Sergeant before turning back to Brother Solar. My Lord, would it be presumptuous of me to believe that you are here to establish the regroup of Imperial Forces and lead the counter-attack to retake the planetoid?
