Out of the remaining people topside, I think Nez has the highest Bluff/Diplomacy at +7/14, so you will all be at her mercy counting on her to come up with a good bluff.

So while we're shopping, Nez will see if we can get some business cards made. No one would doubt the identity of a person with business cards.

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

I wanted to progress (as written) but due to a personal issue found myself unable to do so in the past few days. I had to travel suddenly and had no easy access to a computer, nor internet.

I caught up on most games over today and will update with your plan tomorrow, asking for a few rolls in the process :)

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

Oh my, where has the time gone :P I had some network troubles last week but that only accounts for 3 days, tops.

@Boros: Certainly, but not due to your military expertise, but simply because Varuzhan also made a rolled check with a result that tops 10. In situations where everybody gets to roll I prefer assists to be announced, but since here it's a "either this or that" situation, I automatically assume you cooperate, that is, everybody contributing to one of the efforts "assists" the highest roller.

(So yeah, you EITHER go shopping and help them out, OR you observe the bridge area. Not both.)

That said, I'll try and get a market update on later.

On the topic of fruit though; would our characters be familiar with such fruits? Might they have been imported? Probably oranges - since they last a while - but not bananas I'm guessing.

Interesting question. And one that magic can't readily answer with a "yes" either. While magical means of preserving food is certainly possible, and there's also magic for traveling over long distances rapidly or even near-instantly, those would probably inflate the cost of the foods in question to an extent that they'd be luxuries for the wealthy. And that's certainly not a level of society any of our mutts are running around in.

HP 36/36 | AC 20 | T 14 | F 16 | CMD 17 | F +6 | R +5 | W +4 | Init +4 | Per +1 | Flexibility 6/7 | Stamina 2/5

True.

But if any society is going to know about bananas, without being from a country with bananas, it's societies touched by Cheliax, as they were BIG into colonization of Garund. So it's possible that, despite never having seen one, we might now about them as something imported from Garund.

Also, Purify Food and Drink is a cantrip, which means I think you could use magic in Banana shipping, while still a big increase in cost, not an exorbitant one. Maybe 200-300%?

Active Effects: Resonance (+2 Dex, +1 Perception) | hp 27/27 | AC 15+1/14+1/12 | CMD 15+1 | Fort +5 Ref +6+1 Will +3 (+1 vs illusions) | Evasion | Resist Cold, Electricity & Fire 5 | Per +7+1 (+1 vs traps); Darkvision, Alarm Sense | Init +3+1

Purification is a good point, since it's much cheaper then the other magical means. And it's tedious no doubt - so I imagine a bunch of poor acolytes sitting around purifying bananas for hours end to practice magic and earn their keep.

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

Aye, I wanted to point out Cheliax as well, that, plus port city, plus magic. Even if there are no regular shipments, chances are you know about such plants.
More likely than not, some horticulturist mage may have adapted some plants to do well in the local climate.
They may not have much to do with the original fruit, but never tell that to the guy growing Pineapples in the Frozen Wastes.
(I mean, most things CAN be made to grow in many climates, but with much more effort and significantly less yield. I figure some magical help for the seeds of a fruit could do wonders to even the odds. Many "tropical" fruits we consume are simply work-intense, and it's much cheaper to import them than to try and grow them locally in a greenhouse - and not because it's impossible to grow them here.)
In other words, feel free to know some more exotic fruits as well. Albeit they may not taste exactly like the real thing, they'll at least give you an idea.

Also, yeah, I am long overdue. I meant to do the shopping scene, then figured I should also notify V and Boros that their cooperation means they know the other spoiler(and provide such in-game), and then there was a terror attack in my home city Vienna, last Monday, and I did not really have mind for posting.
(I was already overdue before then, though, and I did start posting again on the weekend.)
As said, one big issue for me is that I'd prefer to keep going fluently by still knowing exactly what the previous game state was - as a player I can approximate, if I misremember something, that's simply the character not thinking of that or making an error, but as GM, I feel obliged to look things up and get it right.
Thats also why I often said I want to go for a more steady pace and do 1 or 2 posts a week again, at least, so that I still have a good idea of where we stand. I really think if that hurdle is taken things will go more smoothly(we've been there :P ).

That said, aside from all else, I'll have to roll out a piece of software for devices by wednesday(the final, unmovable deadline got moved back from tuesday to thursday because we found yet another bug the subcontractors have to fix) so I'm feeling quite stressed right now. I have been meaning to post the last couple days(as the guilt for not having done so accumulated), and will soon, but no promises until that software is ready for rollout.

Honestly, Mordred, don't worry about meeting some arbitrary posting schedule. We've already agreed that some posts, switching between fast and furious and sporadic verging on hiatus, are better than no posts at all. So you do you, keep safe and sane, and get to it when you have the time and energy :D.

I'm also a sad panda, because this is now the only campaign left in my Paizo roster. The other, and its spinoff, went into an indeterminate hiatus after many years of satisfying play.

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

So, rollout went well, I spent whole thursday monitoring and doing emergency support, then Friday some after-care and post-mortem.

That means I'll try to get some posting done over the weekend. (Right now is after-lunch nap time, but 2 out of 3 kids refuse to sleep right now so not the best condition for "do a lenghty post now", but I'll get to it in the evening.)

@Boros: Sorry to hear that. But yeah, I am also down to a frustratingly small amount of games still active. Any of you guys want to try their hand GM'ing? :)

@Nutjobs with weapons: Aye, lets hope no more. Not likely, but here's hoping we'll get a digital super-intelligence going soon that decides to babysit us for a millenia or so as thanks for creating it, and cleans house.

@Mycity: I love that the slogan that went viral on media so fits the mentality of the city. No "#PrayforLondon" or "#JeSuisCharlie" - no, we had "#SchleichDiDuOaschloch" which is literally dialect for "Piss off, a~#+$~#"(where you poop from) and was shouted(more or less) at the terrorist by someone from a window, followed by a thrown vase, and got 'adopted' by the population as our response.

Well, if you guys are serious about looking for more roleplays, I'm actually about to start an old one of mine from 6 years ago up again, and you're all swell folks I'd welcome.

It's a bit of a wild one though, as you're doing missions on behalf of a mad extra-dimensional count and character creation is level 3 with "whatever stat array you want" and "you can use templates and monsters as PCs and prestige classes you don't qualify for". For example, one of the existing characters is a Swarm of diminutive fey, using fey trickery plus swarm immunities to be a very difficult to harm character.

Ongoing effects:
Clinically insane. Mind twisted and bent, not broken(at least not literally), x/y Mythic Power
Sorcerer(Dreamspun)20 /Oracle(Dark Tapestry)20 / Archmage/Hierophant 10 | Deity of Shinyness and Stuff

Sounds like fun.
Bad part about that, of course, is that the Fey Swarm is already taken.
I am sure I could come up with some other amusing things...I'd love to let some ideas gestate if you could elaborate a bit more on the build rule details.

https://paizo.com/campaigns/InTheCourtOfMadness/recruiting&page=1

Was the recruiting page.

I'm thinking about making some changes to boost survivability, like max HP on all Hit Dice, and potentially a "Add Con score to HP at 1st level", because the original game was very lethal, with people often dropping into negatives in single actions.

But as far as how wacky wild things can be, we had a soulbound doll, a zombie assassin, a fey swarm, Big Bird from Sesame Street, a half-dragon barbarian, and a Completely Normal Paladin.

Where the story left off, and where it is likely to begin again, is in the hunt for a man named Ophiuchus, who has been responsible for turning people into cyborgs as well as creating clockworks that are now possessed by demons.

Mm I got to say it does sound awfully tempting. I will take a peek at least, dream a little, and see if I get struck by inspiration :)

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

Well, Miranda, worst case, you create a Level 1 Character, slap the Eternal Template on him, and state that he joined wishing to find final death. (Or go with Nigh-Invulnerable if there is character progression)

@Nezari: If you want to boost survivability, you may also increase total Level Cap a bit and simply state that no more than 3 of the Levels can be for racial CR or templates. That may also give some more fun class features to play with.
So basically as it is now, but with a couple class levels that can't be 'traded' for something else on top.

Either way, a young Herald of the Apocalype(Death) sounds fun.

Also that chest sounds quite over engineered for our needs. But I'm sure we could find new needs for it ...

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

well, consider this...you go to a used car dealership and ask for a car that will work off-road. He may not show you the cheapest and most sensible option :)
(That said, as mentioned, he is looking to seal a good deal, money is his motivation - wether he sells something worth a lot, or buys something cheap - doesn't matter, but he's not in it for a set of tires and a first-aid-box.)

___

@Wasted opportunity: Not necessarily - you can still add plenty nuances with the class, race, and stats :)
But yeah, there's lots of fun stuff available so I understand what you mean.

HP 36/36 | AC 20 | T 14 | F 16 | CMD 17 | F +6 | R +5 | W +4 | Init +4 | Per +1 | Flexibility 6/7 | Stamina 2/5

If you are interested in a Young Herald of the Apocalypse, here would be my opinions on that.

Young is fine, but is CR 0. It's pretty easy on a PC to make Young into a bonus instead of a penalty, one of the players even already did it, though that player isn't here anymore.

Herald's Weapon, specific exception that you can make improvised throwing weapon attacks with your scythe if you want.

Removing Possess Creature, you would be playing a specific Herald of the Apocalypse.

This line would be excluded from Finger of Death, because I don't want to have to bookkeep everytime an NPC touches another NPC off screen.
"If the creature fails the save, any other creature touching it within 1 hour of its death must also succeed on a save at the same DC or die."

That said, further discussion might want to move to my thread to avoid cluttering this one. That that said, you are the GM so, hey, you can clutter this thread if you want to.

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

I figure we can get it more lively in here, show activity, so to say, but I'll gladly take things over to your thread if you'd so prefer.
I do concur with Young CR 0 being reasonable, unfortunately that also means a lot of interesting templates are very inaccessible(I mean, are there any -CR ones that ARE valid?)
The changes you suggest to Weapon and Finger would be reasonable, but I'm afraid without Posess it would be a complete glass cannon - could be fun too but I'll think on it a bit more.

HP 36/36 | AC 20 | T 14 | F 16 | CMD 17 | F +6 | R +5 | W +4 | Init +4 | Per +1 | Flexibility 6/7 | Stamina 2/5

I think being a glass cannon is rather fair for forcing everything that you touch to make a save or die.

Honestly, that's kind of what the Advanced Half-Dragon Barbarian was. Her strength was high enough that anything she hit with her sword died, but with only 1 hit die and no impressive defenses, she was in very much danger of the same thing happening to her.

Completely Normal Paladin was an interesting control, as he had just more HP than anyone else, even without crazy defenses.

Re loot sheet - It's an attempt to keep track of loot and stuff we acquire (but I'm fairly certain that part was clear ^^). Because there's usually a bit of time between acquiring the loot and having time to sit down and breathe IC.

Also because some of the loot might be plot things we'll have to go back to look at. Or sidequest stuff we should poke at eventually.

Try to give every instance of loot both a title that jogs the memory and a link to where it was given to us. First so one knows at a glance where it is from - second so it can be double checked.

The "claim" column is just to try and keep track of whom has what. And, more importantly, to make sure nothing lays around gathering dust :P

Re cool game - I poked around a bit at a drider witch. It's a character I've played before.

But I also realized that I probably can't give the game the time and energy that would be fair. Which is a shame. But I wish you the best of luck anyhow :)

Re art & jewelry - I've added the % we acquired. We don't seem to know the exact value of things...

Re selling - I'm guessing we want to try and unload both right now right? Or will we save the art for later when it isn't quite as hot? If so we probably need a good and sizable waterproof container (like that magical cool chest ... )

Re buying - we haven't planned this far right?

Which is understandable since we don't really know how much money we have got :p

Would it be okay to figure that one bit out first and then pretend our characters made an IC wishlist for us to shop from - but just distribute the monies here OOC?

Hells Rebels Tactical Map

@Miranda: You should have a decent idea of your monetary situation.

You also have Jewels and Art Objects, true, but without a day and proper equipment, maybe some reference books or a specialist, it will be hard to determine the exact value.
Those were the "more money later" option, after all. You did good enough to be certain they ARE valuable, and authentic, but the exact value is not yet known. Of course, that makes trading them away a gamble, or you may decide to hold on to them for now.
But I'll withhold the exact value of the shiny stones and pretty pictures until either after the trade, or you had some proper time to assess their value.

(Note that "big deal" for him goes both ways. You can also sell them the shinies and he'll be happy, there's no need to purchase something big. That said, you could also look around for wondrous items, weapons or armors etc...you DID ask for a watertight container and thats where he brought you, but there's all kinde of stuff there. Including 2 guards, one of which seems to be a construct primarily existing of blades, and one has eyes that look like a swirling vortex of flame.
(Not that I think you'd get any ideas, but I don't want to retroactively "up" security of the place)

So some clothes. That's good and not too pricy. We can do that. At another vendor even - might be less suspicious. They'll go under "cheap and mundane" I think :)

I was aware and had added our raw coins yeah :) Was just poking you to see if we knew how much the art/bling was worth. And now I know that we don't know! (Man appraise is really getting above average love this campaign :p)

Thought jewels were money now-ish and art was later? Guess both are slow compared to pockets full of cash :D

As for wondrous items - Miranda has that crafting feat. Assuming we can fix the prerequisites she can make stuff. So probably mostly small ticket things (like what we might be able to afford!).

HP 40/42 | AC 17/14/13 | CMD 19 | Fort +5 Ref +7 Will +4 | Per +12 | Init +3;
Class and Skills:
Gunslinger (Pistolero) 4/VMC Cavalier (Dragon) | Acro +9 Climb +8 Heal +9 (+11 stabilize dying), Sense +9;
Combat:
Grit 4/4 | 30 ft. | Melee +6 (rapier/gladius) Melee +6 (mwk morningstar) Ranged +7 (+9 mwk pistol, +8 up to 30 ft., +10 mwk pistol up to 30 ft.) CMB +6;

The chest would be nice, if we can swing it, but right now the basics would suffice. Also, someone (coughMordredcough) needs to give our slumbering strix a poke and get him awake and posting.

On another note, had a tooth out today. Mouth feels weird, left nostril feels like it's clogged shut (though it isn't), and my neck hurts like a m*%#$!&&*$%# from bracing while the dentist was extracting that f~#$er. Process itself wasn't too bad though, I barely even noticed the needle and was more bored by the amount of time everything took; like 10 minutes for the exam, maybe another 5 or so for the pull, and the rest of the hour just staring at the freaking ceiling waiting on something to happen.

*cough* I guess *cough*
I admit I feel bad about poking you guys, considering my own track history.

I'll try and move on soon, regardless, even if the shopping party seems stalled, somewhat.
