Hearing the booming noise, Jarva realizes that the time for negotiations has now ceased. He moves into the temple, hoping that it was a success and the little girl was safe.

Init. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Half-Orc Cleric 2

Hmmmh. Please correct me if I am wrong, but Brebork can still perform an action this round, right?. I guess that since Zedric stepped back Brebork can't bull rush him or slap him with the scimitar yet...or can he?...if not here is what he will do leading into round 2 [ooc]

Brebork bolts forward towards Zedric and....

Round 2 action:
He aims a thundering body check at the little man, aiming to knock him towards the bench which is right behind him and a bit to the left at D50

[ooc] Combat Manoeuver - Bull Rush 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Brebork wrote:

Actually since you took a 5' step and did the Intimidate as a standard action, you have a move-equivalent action, if you need one, which cannot be a move since you took 5' step already. Doing that bullrush will provoke an attack of opportunity, you know, right? You can keep that roll for that or anything else you want to do

Fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Init now on 4

Quzman reels at the thundering shock, slowing his advance. Trying to fight through the disorienting feeling.

Roaring in rage at the man who caused such fear and pain to the innocent in front of him, Quzman charges at Zedric (to D47) and takes a mighty slash with his blade holding his scimitar in both hands.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Actually, Quzman needed to charge to C48 from B40, since Zedric was in D49

She charges and cuts him deeply with the scimitar, as Zedric grasps his chest and holds his guts in, before they fall on the floor.

Kyra Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 She shakes off the ringing in her ears and charges Zedric as well with her longspear to D47.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10, but Zedric spots her in time and manages to avoid being skewered.

I get it. I was trying to get fancy with combat manoevers...enough of the funny business..still learning...

Brebork bolts forward towards Zedric and....

Round 2 action:
With a wide, slapping swing of his scimitar he takes a swipe at the little man
using the Blade of Mercy fighting style he attacks, which would do 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 non lethal damage if it hits

As I understand it..Brebork takes his action before seeing Quzman's attack and Zedric's guts

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + (1) + 2 = 11

For Brebork, Quzman, Kyra, and Eli only:

As Brebork, Quzman, and Kyra close in on Zedric, an arrow suddenly bursts out of Kyra's chest (imagine Alien movie), perforating her lung, as she screams in pain and coughs up blood. That above referenced attack was on her and she was -2 AC because she charged and not to mention flatfooted against the surprise attack. Kyra is at 1hp

As the group looks back, they see a human male suddenly materialize out of thin air, attired in a chain shirt standing at B43, with black gloves and wielding a 5' longbow painted with black tiger stripes and a quiver of black feather tipped arrows. At his side, he carries a bastard sword. He looks something like this, obviously without the arrow in him: Boss

For Brebork, Kyra, and Eli only:
You hear Zedric, who is bleeding profusely, scream "Boss!" Then you hear the figure behind you say "That would be me, chaps, it's party time, unless you drop your weapons and surrender now!", as he reaches for another arrow in his quiver. The speaking parts were free actions for effect.

Still waiting for Dumah to roll initiative for Round 2

Perception checks for Dumah and Jarva as well

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

When Dumah hears the noise, he'll sprint in the entrance at a22.

For Jarva:
As you hear the sonic boom reverberate through the monastery and reach your ears and start to move, your keen eyesight catches 3 figures wielding bows come out of the hallway at F9, trying to stealth their way towards the chapel.

Boss initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Round 2 Initiative Order
17 Brebork (D47)
16 Boss (B43)
16 Zedric (D49)
11 Dumah (k15)
10 ?????
9 Eli (d50)
6 Kyra (C40)
4 Quzman moves 30 feet (B40)
2 Jarva (k7)

Actions please. Brebork, is your action still the same?

Male Half-Orc Cleric 2

sorry DM, just need to confirm. Looing back at the events so far, I thought Kyra was behind Brebork in D47 trying to skewer Zedric when she was hit from behind by the arrow and that Brebork is in D48 and was about to strike Zedric in D50. Quzman had charged Zedrik and is now in C48, having just sliced open the ingrate's belly. In that case is Brebork beside Kyra?

If Brebork is beside Kyra:

His scimitar ready to strike a blow, Brebork suddenly realizes what has just transpired. As a free action. and in anger and surprise Brebork spits out in Orcish, "Gnazhûl Fuaakh!" Gobs of spit spray over Zedric at the same time (as is customary for the recipient of the common orcish expression).

Then Brebork reaches his free hand back to Kyra and cries out in a desperate impassioned plea to his goddess. A familiar burning sensation washes over him as the a burning glow passes through his hand toward Kyra's chest.

Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
She had 1hp left. It would be too risky to leave her that way for another round, I think

hp 55/55 AC: 26/17/21 F +5 R +11 W +6 {+4 vs bards/sonic/lang; +1 vs traps} Initiative + 4; Perception +9

Eli keeps on the defensvie as he rushes to April and hoists her up over his shoulder and attempts to get her out of harms way as fast as he can.

Total Defensive +4 dodge bonus to AC for 1 round; AC: 19

Brebork wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Yes, you are right, thanks for catching that error, Kyra is at D47, not B40. You are free to do your action. You have a move action left, Brebork, do you use it?

Male Half-Orc Cleric 2

Can Brebork move ahead to cover Kyra, lest the archer single her out for another deadly shot? Doesn't look like he can. I should have had him cast Sanctuary on her. She now has 4 hp. Assuming Brebork cannot move to cover Kyra..this is what he does for his move action.

Hoping that the warriors can handle the archer, Brebork turns to face Zedric, lest the treacherous weavil have anything left in him to attack from behind.

Round 2 Initiative Order
17 Brebork (D47)
16 Boss (B43)
16 Zedric (D49)
11 Dumah (k15)
10 ?????
9 Eli (d50)
6 Kyra (C47)
4 Quzman (C48)
2 Jarva (k7)

Ok, I corrected Kyra and Quzman's starting positions, as I had Brebork and Kyra in the same square. Thus, Brebork can move to C46 with his move action to grant Kyra some cover from any arrows. I apologize for any errors.

The Boss moves with the reflexes of a panther drawing an arrow and shooting and then another and shooting, one at Kyra and one at Brebork, all within the span of 6 seconds.

1st arrow to Kyra: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25...uh oh! Possible crit!
Confirm roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19...confirmed roll against flatfooted AC of 14 (no large shield bonus due to the longspear) even with +4 due to cover !
Damage: 3d8 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (8, 6, 6) + (1) + 6 = 27

Despite Brebork's best efforts to shield her, the archer's accuracy is unerring, as the arrow flies true, past Brebork, and into Kyra's neck, spraying Brebork and Quzman with blood, as Kyra drops the longspear and falls to the floor, eyes wide in shock, with a strong thud, where a pool of blood starts to form under her lifeless body......-23 is pretty lifeless. I am speechless!

2nd arrow to Brebork: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 bounces off his armor.

For Brebork and Eli only:
As a free action, the Boss speaks, as he draws another arrow: "I have killed your strongest warrior, reinforcements are coming, surrender, and no more blood needs to be spilled this day!"

Zedric withdraws, going from D49 to B52, holding his bleeding stomach with one hand, while wielding a dagger in the other.

Dumah sprints to a22 as a full-round action. Perception check please

Eli goes full defensive, especially with Zedric so close to him now.

Quzman and Jarva please

Dumah's perception check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Jarva is going to double move to get as far into the temple as he can. As a free action, he will yell and alert the others that there are three more archers in route.

Jarva runs into the room. "Everyone, there are three others with bows behind you!"

"NO!! You son of mongrel whelp! You shall pay for what you have done this day! Quzman is livid with rage at the sight of Kyra's lifeless form on the floor. He rushes over to the 'boss', and takes a mighty swing with his blade trying to drive the man to his knees.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

"Stop them from entering if you can sand whisperer."

Jarva, even if you run (4x speed), the furthest you can reach is b23. You get there and yell.

Dumah and Jarva see the 3 archers trying to be sneaky at F17-19 and they see you.

Quzman Garhani wrote:

You did not hear Jarva, Quzman, remember you're deaf. Everyone, please ignore Quzman's last comment.

Dumah, turn 3

Spoiler:
Casts Sleep spell centered on F18. 10' radius, Save is Will DC 15. That should encompass the three archers and no PCs.

Female Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1 (Fav. Class Ranger +1HP)

Coughing up blood she thanks Brebork for his healing and looks around to see if she can find some shelter from the "boss".

Facing the man she walks to that area while reaching for her javelins.

Too late she sees the arrow going straight for her throat.
With a gurgling cry she slumps to the ground .... blood flowing freely from her ghastly wound.

OUCH ... Erm ... What now ;)
I do like to continue ... I love all the characters and the RP-ing here :)

DM, I will be out most of the day. When Jarva's turn comes up, he will try to continue to close distance between he and Dumah and the archers that are unaffected by the sleep spell. If all seem effected, he will head toward the rest of the group and see what is happening with them. Thanks.

hp 55/55 AC: 26/17/21 F +5 R +11 W +6 {+4 vs bards/sonic/lang; +1 vs traps} Initiative + 4; Perception +9

Eli watches in shock as Krya falls to the archers deadly arrow. With April safely tucked in his arms he races along the northern wall of the monastery watching for anyone to target them. He will attempt to find a window that he can escape through.

Total Defensive AC 19
Perception Check 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

EDIT: Eliminated Intimidate check, changed to a perception check; adjusted description to match new actions.

Male Half-Orc Cleric 2

Gasp! Eyes wide in horror, Brebork sees the blood flowing and knows his friend is beyond saving. In a rage at the tragic loss, Brebork holds out his hand out to the archer. He sees Quzman and then he sees Zedric approaching Eli and the Girl. His eyes dart back and forth between them for a moment. Then a bolt of fire flashes out hot from his outstreched hand, and shoots right at Zedric!

1d20 ⇒ 15 ranged touch attack 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Man! Brebork will be praying tonight for forgiveness. He should have cast Sanctuary on Kyra. (which would have been risky as well, I guess) Sorry about that! Thus it plays out in the heat of battle... at least Brebork's rolls have been consistently good. Let's hope it stays that way

As a move action Brebork drops the scimitar and buckler and picks up the longspear instead.

Both Total Defense and Demoralize are standard actions so you can only do one per round. I assume Eli will go Total Defense and move. Please correct, if that is not the case.

Brebork wrote:

Zedric in vain tries to move out of the way, but Brebork's aim is true, engulfing him with flames. Zedric has felt the flames burn his body before and he screams in pain, but this time, there is no tingling energy to heal him, and he runs blindly, crashing into some broken pews and falling to the floor in a heap, his body still on fire. Only fitting that he meet his end by fire!

Edited my post above to be moving and changed the roll to a perception check to notice a window we might be able to escape through as he is running by.

"My, you people are a stubborn bunch, how many of you must I kill before you surrender?", Kyra's killer said, as he easily evaded Quzman's sword blow. "Well, if that's how you want it, let's get nasty!"

Two swords in hand, muscular, this fighter could be dangerous, thought the Boss of Quzman, but then again, two swords means no shield!

He took a step back to B42 and with skill, fired 2 arrows into Quzman's chest!
The first pierced the dune warrior's armor, burying itself deep into his chest, as blood sprayed into the air. The second bounced off the warrior's studded armor. Quzman has 4 hps left

Attack #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Attack#2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Now, that he had room to see, the Boss saw Zedric's burning body on the floor. He said to Brebork, while still keeping his focus on Quzman, "Priest, I have taken one of your men and you have taken one of mine, it seems we are even, call off your warrior, before you lose another, he is gravely wounded and one more of my arrows will take him!"

For Quzman:
Remember, you do not hear any of the conversation though you see the Boss looks quite confident, though you know you are severely wounded

Dumah wrote:

Casting sleep is a full-round action, so you will be casting and my archers can take shots at you, while you're standing still, that if they hit, will harm you and force you to make Concentration checks to keep the spell going. Just want to make sure you understand. Let me know if you still proceed with the spell.

Male Half-Orc Cleric 2

Even if I call to him he will not hear. On the next round can Brebork make it to Quzman in time to touch him with Sanctuary ?

Or possibly even charge the Boss with the longspear?

Crud, I did not know that. Thanks for the chance to go back on it, but I think I'm going to take the risk and cast it. Hopefully I won't get Kyra-ed. Can I change the target square at my initiative if the archers have moved at all, to get as many as possible?

Brebork wrote:

Yes, Quzman and the Boss are within range so you will be able to do either of those things on your round.

Yes, you can pick the square right before your turn on the next round. Kyra-ed!!! That was funny!

The bandit archers see Dumah start casting and they move to F22-24 and the first two unload their volley of arrows at him with their shortbows, the first arrow catching him in the shoulder, while the second one bounces off his mage armor. The 3rd bandit shoots at Jarva, catching him in the thigh with his arrow.

Bandit #1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 damage to Dumah

Bandit #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Bandit #3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 damage to Jarva

Dumah, please give me a Concentration DC 14 Check (Roll d20+ 1 caster level + 4 Intelligence modifier). Failure means you lose the spell.

Male Half-Orc Cleric 2

DM wrote:
Kyra-ed!!! That was funny!

I don't think Dumah was joking, man! Not Funny. It feels like we're in it deep right now. Well we'll see who chuckles in the end!

Brebork sees Quzman attacking with reckless abandon - heedless of any threats from the Boss.

So, with his eyes deadlocked on the villain and the spear lowered, Brebork begins heading towards him, uttering a prayer to his Goddess as he moves. Instead of finishing the charge however he pulls in behind Quzman, and touches the ranger to deliver a spell of Sanctuary DC 14.

Go hit him hard, Quzman! of course he can't hear it

If Quzman gets hit again we're all screwed.

Awesome battle, DM. Bad luck, Kyra. That sucks. But I have a feeling a couple more of us might be joining you before this one is over!!

Brebork wrote:

Got it, that's Brebork's Round 4 action; Quzman still has his Round 3 action

For Eli:
In full defense, Eli moves along northern wall and sees a window at e45 where the wooden boards are rotten and he may be able to break through

Quzman and Jarva are up to finish the round

DM, I am gonna wait until I see Dumah's check and the effect of his spell before I declare my action. If the spell works, it will change my decision on what to do.

Dumah concentrates on the spell's energy and ignores the pain in his right shoulder. Thankfully, his force armor deflects the second arrow. As the spell reaches its conclusion, he centers it on the 3 archers, yelling "Feel my might, bandits!", as the two bandits who shot arrows at him, drop their bows and fall to the floor asleep!

Dumah's Concentration check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Bandit #1 Save: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Bandit #2 Save: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Bandit #3 Save: 1d20 ⇒ 18
