Rav rubs his chin. "Hmm, is either lightning or meganetics. Let's find out..." He reaches into his side pouch and pulls the long gun out and, bringing it up, fires off a shot!

Rav fires a lead bullet through the elemental. "If be lightning, be another spark and another elemental. If be maeganetics, then lead no affect..." He comments to Relas.

Drancis Mordaron |

Drancis' face is a mix of fascination and horror as he feels himself lifted into the air. "It's neither Rav! This...elemental is formed of the same bubbles I can see! And it was triggered by the gate..." his voice trails off briefly as he realizes he is in danger.
Whipping his arms around quickly he sends one of the aetheric bubbles slamming into the elemental

"Not what Rav meant. Was trying to figure out what trigger stones. Not stone, not dead bird, only metal cartridge. So was trying figure out if it meganetics or lightning, both work with copper, but only one with lead." He waves at the elemental. "That just force ghost, summon by gate, just need blow away."

Rav makes a noise. "When Rav use word," He replies, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what Rav choose it mean – no more no less."

Between them, Ravboom and Drancis seem to disperse the spectrum of light that comprises the humanoid figure in the stone circle... like the fading of a rainbow as a storm passes, there is only the faintest of signs that it is still there - although Ravboom's bullet does, as he suspected it might, cause another display of electrical arcing... this time, ushering two of the figures into existence...
And now, Drancis feels his chest constrict and his feet leave the ground...

Aether Elemental 1, Fort Save vs Drancis' telekinetic throw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16, Saved
Despite Drancis' best efforts, he is unable to grasp the bubbles surrounding the thing within the stone circle... lucky then that Rikkan is there with one of his bombs, tossed into the circle, it detonates in a flash of flame - and utterly dissipates the first of the creatures...
Palomia - Aether elementals are made of living aether, the rare fifth element that arises on the Ethereal Plane near the borders of the Elemental Planes... they have similar abilities to those demonstrated by Drancis.

"Well, they're kinda made of aether so that's not really surprising I guess," Palo shrugs, not too terribly concerned since it seemed that the rest of the group weren't having too much trouble striking the creatures. Rav's face sets. "We see, pillars seem like danger to unwary travellers, maybe we blow them to tiny pieces before we leave. Good thing to do yes?" The goblin's eyes seem to light ablaze.

Drancis Mordaron |

Drancis gives the goblin an askance look, "Could you imagine the size of the elemental that would come into existence if the pillar was destroyed? I think studying how these aetheric elementals are linked to the pillars would be a better choice!"

GM Zed |

A flurry of activity from the group leads to the last of the strange elemental creatures being dispersed under the twisting energies of Drancis' blast...
Combat Over
...and, as the threat of the creatures within the stone circle subsides, the heat of the sun continues to beat down relentlessly. Exploring the circle, as Palomia's companion is already there, Relas finds little of particular note... fragments of crystal are scattered around but, badly damaged by whatever caused them to sheer from the main stones, they are naught but detritus. Study of the stones sadly reveals nothing more - they are technologically way beyond the travellers' comprehension and have no obvious purpose...
Setting off again, the group have travelled for a few hours when they encounter life once more in this barren land - north of the graveled road stands a large tent of dusty white silk topped by a red-stained pennant flapping in the stiff breeze. Five wooden racks directly south of the tent bear the bloody carcasses of unidentified creatures, the hardpan and scrub around these gory trophies spattered with the sloppy remnants of skinning done without finesse or care. Three figures, seeing the travellers a way off, move to intercept the group... standing a little over seven feet tall and with a reptilian face, the tallest of the humanoids - recognised as Syaandi from their kin at Fort Buckle, grunts , "Trade!!!"

Rikkan Anardi |

”Seems like if they intended on trading, they would have tKen more care with their harvesting meat. They’ve hacked those corpses to death. I wonder if it was just done for fun,” the Little ratfolk whispers to the others.

Drancis Mordaron |

"We don't know what their customs are Rikkan," Drancis warns his friend before turning his attention back to his newfound companion, "Don't worry about what we have to trade Palomia. Let us handle that."
He keeps his hands far away from his weapons (knowing he could see the aetheric bubbles surrounding them anyway) and nods slowly. "Yes, we can TRADE. What you need?"

GM Zed |

As Drancis acknowledges the trade, the syaandi make way for their apparent leader — a near eight foot high warrior bearing an angry red scar across his forehead emerges from the tent with a fourth warrior at his side. Grunting rather than talking, the new arrival makes a great show of inviting Palomia and Drancis towards the tent...

Drancis Mordaron |

Drancis, now alert to the possibility of the syaandi wanting more than just trade, slows his pace as he approaches the tent, stopping well short of the tent. "What do you want from us?" He starts to speak before abruptly realizing they would not be able to understand him. "Palomia, if what I suspect is true then we may ALL be their types!"
Also they have no tongues to speak with...this is going to be a challenge!

Rikkan Anardi |

Rikkan wasn’t happy at all with the way this appeared to be going. His weight shifted from one foot to the other as he nervously watched Drancis and Palomia suss out the threat.

GM Zed |

Maybe realising that neither Drancis nor Palomia were likely to go through to the tents with the largest of the syaandi, they suddenly turn upon the party... guttural noises that barely pass as language still make their intentions clear as spears are brandished - and Drancis along with Palomia feel the effects of the large creature's sudden chanting...

If your blast misses, the thrown creature can choose to occupy any space within 30 feet of the target, it doesn't fall prone, and it takes half the normal amount of damage from your blast. The movement doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity.
