Hey guys. So here's what I'm thinking I'll need before we can move on:
1. If you'd like a tarot reading, please say so now. I will do one for you and post the results here.
2. Let's work out any kinks in your character concept before moving to straight crunch. (I liked what I read, but I have a few questions/concerns which I will list in another post below).
3. I'd like to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the maturity level in this game. In my games, there is sex/gore/death/violence and other things that can occur in real life. I'm not gonna hold back, just because there may be little kids reading. Also, I wanna make it clear that just because I allow sex and such in my games, doesn't make it alright for X-rated descriptions to be posted - we aren't writing a group fanfic after all. Keep any such descriptions to the point.
As always, if you have questions for me, feel free to ask. I will try to answer as best I can.
GM Fireclaw
Alright, here is where I'll put specific concerns/questions about each of your characters.
Actually, your character is pretty straight-forward. I don't have many concerns for you, though I'd like it if your character had a more developed long-term goal.
My main concern with your character is that an Inquisitor of Shelyn doesn't seem to sit well with me. Shelyn isn't really about killing people who've besmirched her name. See Shelyn paladin code for details on that. You could be from an deviant sect, or you could be a lone operative.
Your character seems awesome, do you have any concerns?
Well well well, a goblin are we? I'm not gonna lie, it'll be difficult for you, but the Katapeshi don't care if you're a goblin or a devil, as long as your coin is good. I'd rather not see a gunslinger. I like the idea of an alchemist, or maybe a sorcerer of some sort. What do you think?
I like the idea of the prophet. Sometimes, GMs struggle with directing players to the right spots. This would be perfect, and a nice roleplaying opportunity. I might use you in this way if you guys are ever stuck, but it might also just happen at random, and might even lead you down the wrong or more dangerous path. Does that sound okay?
Also, for situations that need tactical precision such as a battle, would you like me to make up maps? If so, would you prefer email or imageshack-type posting? Also, if you want maps, I'll need portraits to represent each character.
Horgun Flintnose
Whatever sort of map is easiest, so long as we have enough of an idea what's where to make movement clear. I went and picked out a picture for Horgun. Tomorrow I'll work up a more complete stat sheet for review. I may make a couple minor tweaks from the rough version. Mainly because I realized that Shield Bash doesn't have much point unless you get TWF first or are playing Captain America.
Pixel Cube
Will make the actual character sheet soon.
Jesail Ash
Thank you for the advice. I may go for a lone operative who does what he can to preserve beauty and love. He raising his crossbow, {More for himself than for her) in defense of her beauty. Jesail has had a lot of turmoil I was planning to expand on in his life. I took the finding Haleen trait because I made her responsible for him keeping his head on his shoulders. In most situations, Jesail will try and reason first resorting to the bow should things not go so well. Protecting others first sometimes requires preemptive action (Again another self philosophy). If you want to get the crunch out of me, Sheyln is the only acceptable deity that provides the air domain, in addition I have always wanted to run and inquisitor, and lastely, I heard that Djinn exist in this particular campaign. Don't know where or how friendly they are but I though it made for a neat backstory. A strange orphan boy with flowing greenish white hair wandering the wastes looking for his dear friend. I just love it. So I do plan on flushing him out some more. If not tomorrow morning, then tomorrow evening after work. Thank you for accepting me too. I was in six games before but ALL but one of them died out. I've been wanting to play a little more than I have been. Thanks for this chance.
My computer usually has issues with maps on these forums. A lot of the sites people post them on don't work for me. I am willing to give what ever you have a shot though.

I'd like to be right more often to not, as I actually want to be a prophet who is sort of shattered by what he "sees", but at the same time, it could be events further in the future.
I'm perfectly fine with the Email maps, or not using maps at all, or whatever. I'm comfortable with mature things if it is handled with maturity and taste.
Also, I am currently deployed in Afghan. I have fairly regular internet, but there are going to be some times that I can't predict when I just may not be able to get on for a day or two. Shouldn't ever be more than 48 hours, and if so, I will try to let people know, if at all possible. If it does become an issue, for example if everyone is waiting for me in a combat, I'll default to either try to heal (Cure Light or Heal skill) the person that needs most, or Aid Another to grant an AC or Skill bonus. Will the Paizo avatar work for the portrait, or do you need a link to something different?

Also, do we need to pick PF Factions or does that matter.
It does seem like a lot of people are going for a very similar feel, high Dex and Cha, finesse/speed types. Might be very interesting. . .
Aakim, Ult Combat had a Feat you might be very interested in for Whips, essentually making them into full reach weapons (provoke, can hit AC and NA, etc. . .). I think it is called Whip Mastery or something. Very last Feat in the section. :)

That's nice, I didn't find it in the srd (wierd...) but it's more about damage than combat manouvers, the thing I'm really interested in. I want Aakim combat style to be more like "you have a weapon, no you don't, by the way you are also prone now".
GM Fireclaw

No, you do not need to pick a faction. This is not PFS. Pick a faction if it's suited to your character.
If we're gonna do email for maps (as seems to be the preference), then I'll need everyone's email address. If you don't feel comfortable posting it on the boards, you can email me here: fireclawdrake@gmail.com
I'm not reviewing the character sheets yet (I'll wait till they're all done and posted).
Whip Mastery is here
Jesail Ash
I have significantly updated my profile. It adds more of what you wanted from my class in conjunction with my chosen deity. I put a lot more thought into motivations as well. I think he will work out very well. I will try and incorporate some healing into his build as well. Mostly he will be a good tracker and peacekeeper. I expect him to be a good talker with the people. Peacekeeper :D. Also I plan to develop him to be a tad smarter too. I may still make adjustments to his crunch but as far as I know we aren't their yet.

I'm thinking I may change the Trait Charming for Heirloom Weapon. I know it is errated, but I'm not sure what the change was exactly.
I'm wanting it to be proficient with the Scimitar, which will play into the fact I'm questing for my destined sword. I didn't want to actually start with the weapon, so essentually am wasting a great deal of the Trait, (just going for RP and proficiency).
Is that ok?
GM Fireclaw
@Prophet: I'm gonna go with yes on this one, mostly cause I don't like what the errata did to the trait (they took out the Mwk part of the trait, making it useful for 1st and MAYBE 2nd level). I'm planning on giving everyone 1 special, free, custom trait (designed by me) based on your backstory, so I will include this in yours.
I'm just waiting on Chee, he gets until Friday, or we'll go without him.
Everyone's character sheet looks good, though I haven't gone over them with a comb yet.
GM Fireclaw
Alright awesome. I'm going over the character sheets now, so I'll post anything I notice as wrong, but barring anything major, we'll be starting tomorrow.
That being said, Jesail, you need to post your character sheet under your profile.
Also, I LOVE the layout on Beckett's sheet (Prophet). The only thing I would change would be for stuff like saves, skills, etc, to have the math represented beside them. It would save me digging through your stuff to do the calculations myself.
GM Fireclaw
Awesome. I'd like to note that three of you guys have Haleen as central focuses for you backstory. You three (Jesail, Janos, and Chee) likely knew each other, and may even be friends (I'll leave that up to you guys to decide between yourselves).
Chee
Indeed. From looking at the backstory, it seems reasonable that Jesail and Janos had the most interaction of the three. Chee is 5-6 years old, so hasn't been around that long, plus he's a goblin. My initial thoughts for are for Chee being perceived as a mix between the creepy lab partner, reckless younger sibling, and a feral cat that's been adopted. He's smart, but lacks experience, and just doesn't act like a person.
I see Chee perceiving Jesail as a source of pretty things, and something that makes Haleen happy. Janos is a source of fire, which is awesome, but is kinda weird around Haleen, and everything else. But he has fire, and that's what counts.
What do you think of Chee Jesail? I'm open to help for this character, as I'm not quite sure how to play a non-malicious, homicidal mad scientist child.

I think of Chee as the family dog.
Just kidding. Jesail would respect and love Chee like a little kid brother most likely. I need some time to read your bio to give more input but by Jesail's personality, he would most likely care for Chee a lot.
GM Fireclaw
I see Haleen sorta taking pity on Chee, probably the main reason she initially took him in. Luckily, this isn't Varisia and goblins aren't universally hated, just thought of as sort of an annoyance.

Not a problem, I will work on that for you.

I mentioned to Chee on the other thread if he might like to work on a little background around that. I'm up for it if either of you like.
I was wanting to have a (potentually) romantic relationship with her, but also have her as a mentor of sorts. I also view her as some sort of saint in my <fractured> faith. I'm more than willing to work with you guys, though, so let me know what you you all want.
GM Fireclaw
As it happens, Haleen is a skilled fighter with the scimitar, and may have even taught you much of her skills (explains your scimitar prof Janos). If you wanted your relationship to be a romantic one, that's perfectly fine with me. Would that make Chee your little kid or the family pet? Haha

Updated with the modifiers and things.
I was actually thinking it would be fun if Chee where my body guard and advisor, (in a sense), if he is ok with that. Jesail I'm not sure. I can see us being friends, but would like a little insight into what they want.

I should mention that Jesail admires and is driven by Haleen's kindness towards such misfits as us. More over he sees her kind older sister. If Prophets wants to be romantic with her Jesail wont mind. Jesail will have spent most of his life serving the temple and visits on occasion. He loves (brotherly) all who Haleen cares for.
Prophet of the Purifying Flame

I was more asking if you wanted to have a more intwined backgrownd. As for my "romanitic" relationship, it might very well be in my head, sort of like how my character has begun to heroinize her into a saintly figure in his delusions.
Jesail Ash
Here's what Chee and Janos know about Jesail. They know he was "adopted" by Haleen as an infant.....(Not sure how old Haleen is but she would have took care of him like a kid brother if she was real young when she found him.) At the age of Ten Jesail enlisted in the local Sheyln temple to learn their beliefs. He is not home most of the time as he lives in the temple now though he visits a lot. You guys would also know Jesail is a Sylph
How Jesail would behave around Janos. If you were usually around Haleen a lot Jesail would respect you like an older borhter. He looks up too Janos to an extent too. You'd be the first to here of Haleen's disappearance from Jesail.
How Jesail would behave around Chee. The family dog. Whose such a good boy, you such a good boy. See the stick, see it. Go go fetch the stick go git it. I've always wanted a dog.
No he really cares about Chee and thinks of hims as a pesky but lovable kid brother. kinda funny to think about.
If you guys are cool with this, I'd like to start this party. Anyone else ready to go?
GM Fireclaw
Wall of text incoming, as well as traits for each of you. Hang on tight.
GM Fireclaw
Alright, initial post is up, feel free to converse with each other as you please. Here are the bonus traits for each of you (you get these in addition to any trait you already have).
Playing with Fire
Chee loves fire, loves playing with it, loves exploding things. As a result, he's mastered not getting hurt when something explodes around him. Chee has a +1 trait bonus to his bomb damage when they deal fire damage, and also is considered to have Evasion for any splash weapon, spell or spell-like ability with a burst radius (such as Fireball).
Merciful Hunter
Jesail may be merciful towards sentient humanoids, but to monsters he is a terror. Any attack Jesail makes towards an Evil non-humanoid receives a +1 trait bonus on weapon damage. In addition, Jesail may choose to deal non-leathal damage to any humanoid without incuring the usual -4 penalty.
Vision-borne
Janos' mind doesn't always function well, but this instability has opened his mind. Janos will occasionally receive visions, though it will sometimes be difficult to decipher. Anytime Janos receives a vision in such a way, he also may use Augury as a spell-like ability once, and it must pertain to the vision. This ability is used at the same level as Janos' oracle level.
In addition, by watching and learning from Haleen, Janos is proficient with the Scimitar.
Zest for Life
Horgun is his own man, whatever the Pactmasters may say. He gains a +2 trait bonus vs. Charm and Compulsion effects. Once he receives his freedom, Horgun won't be imprisoned again, or made anyone's slave. This translates to a +4 on CMB attempts to break free of grapple, +4 on escape artist checks to break free, and attempting these is only a move action for Horgun.
Nomad
Aakim's wanderings has taught him much of the wild, and of folk. He knows how to keep himself from trouble, and how to deal with trouble. Aakim gains a +1 trait bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Perception and Survival. These are all class skills for you. In addition, Aakim gains the Whip Mastery feat as a bonus feat at first level (you don't need to meet the prereqs).
Yes I realize that some of these traits are powerful, but I also hope everyone feels that they are fairly balanced.
Chee
I am a sneaky, reckless pyromaniac on a quest to find my Person!
Nothing will keep Janos from Saint Haleen, not even reality.
Jesail is the cop bandits love to meet, especially if his 'brothers' are chasing them
If ye be the monsters who took Her from Us, know this. Janos sees you in vision, Jesail will never lose your trail, and Chee... for Chee you will burn!
Horgun Flintnose
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but don't Alchemists need the Infusion Discovery to allow anyone besides them self to benefit from their alchemy spells? I remember looking into the class as a potential healer for a previous game I applied for, and being put off by the combination of no spontaneous casting and not even being able to heal others until 2nd level.

Absolutely correct Horgun. Here is the relevant section of text:
Chee's just gonna help with the fire I assume?
Chee
Ok, that sounds fine. I saw the infusion discovery, but wasn't entirely sure for spells that were touch based, until I saw this "An extract is “cast” by drinking it, as if imbibing a potion—the effects of an extract exactly duplicate the spell upon which its formula is based, save that the spell always affects only the drinking alchemist.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake Horgun/GM Fireclaw. My apologies for not reading the rules thoroughly. Chee will indeed help with the fire.
GM Fireclaw
No worries. It applies to any alchemist extract until you take the discovery. I'll post a big post a bit later on.
GM Fireclaw
Sorry for the delay guys. I dunno what happened to Chee but I think Janos is out for the next couple days. I'll post again later today, at work now.
GM Fireclaw
Yes, I'll be posting more details soon, just busy now, wanted to give an update.
GM Fireclaw
I hope I made it clear that your characters are free to act as they choose, you don't have to act as a group. Conduct the investigation however each of your characters wishes.
GM Fireclaw
Dashki is the correct spelling, sorry. Mispelled it the first time as I didn't have the AP with me (I post from work from time to time).
Edit: No time for a longer post now, but I will have one up before tomorrow morning for anyone who has posted. I assume Chee is still following Jesail around?
GM Fireclaw
Ack, sorry. Time constraints. Glad to hear you are safe Janos. Are you done your tour or just back at base/whatever other arrangement?

I'm just n leave for 2 weeks. I'm deployed in afghanistan.
GM Fireclaw
I remember you saying you were in Afghanistan, just wasn't sure if you were returning for good or not. Enjoy your leave.
For now: The only post that would deem a response here is Horgun's, but Jesail answers in Dashki's place.
Janos, shoot me an email fireclawdrake AT gmail.com , and I'll give you some ideas for revelations (I don't mean the ones related to your mystery hah).
Jesail Ash
Sorry if I'm getting a bit carried away. I just have a lot of free time right now and this happens to be the only campaign I am in that is doing anything. When I'm not posting here I'm writing out plans a for another campaign I hope to start soon. Just today cause of the six hours of free time I have at the moment.
GM Fireclaw
Yeah I'm off work today too, so trying to keep up with the game.

In case there's still any confusion, here's a list of the camp members you have met:
Almah - The expeditions financier and your employer.
Garavel - Almah's majordomo. Though he looks and acts the warrior, he manages most of her business deals.
Eloais - A varisian man, a fortune-teller. Barely survived the fire
Zastoran - The old halfling cleric. Disapproving of Eloais.
Personal guard - Almah's personal guard, 4 men. Well-armed, professional.
The Mercs - 6 soliderly people. Kallien and Dullen are the only ones you've heard named.
Dashki - A dark-skinned man of poor dress and hygiene. Garavel tells you he was hired as a gnoll expert.
The Camel Drivers - Hadrah and her husband Hadrod tend the animals. Hadrod's favourite goat Rombard is missing.
That makes the caravan population 17, plus you 5. Anyone have any questions?
