Surak- you were a bit distracted, but where do you think the spider swarm came from? ; )
failed perception check from round 3: "There is a metallic clang across the room and the sound of spell casting. From above, Tarrar is finally loosened from the chimney with a SCLORTCH! and lands heavily in the hearth." and check B-9 on the last map.

Probably an appropriate juncture to do a cross-post to all my more active PbPs about an interruption to my posting schedule that is imminent.
My wife is about 37 weeks pregnant, which basically means that the bun is fully cooked and ready to pop at any time. This means that at some point in the next 1 day to 4 weeks I will suddenly and without notice disappear completely from the interwebs. I can't say when or for how long, but it will probably knock me out for up to a week or so before my wife and I get back on our feet and I'm of somewhat sound and untired enough mind to jump back online.
So if I do vanish, please don't fret as I shall return :) I would just ask for some leeway on posting frequency for a while as we adjust to the new baby floating around.

Hungry Skull - you sure these fellows are on the down low for a 2nd level party? - or are you just having a hot streak with your dice?
Grab + Confusion + explodey goo = sad adventurers...
of course not. Should be like a EL4, but what the hell? : ) the good news is that you're on the last apocalypto-rage zombie and then you get some sweet sweet xp.
Also yes, I love my d20s. much to my players chagrin...

Wife and Bub continue to do well and all things considered should hopefully be back in our own home as of tomorrow. Will see how the home-life settles out before committing to a specific time for wading back online so if DM-botting can continue that would be grand.... shouldn't take up much of Voodoo's time given all he can manage is bleeding heroically..
Shirish - ok, I'm sorry for inciting the wrath of vengeful dicebot.

Was an assault from the ethereal plane too obscure? Appropriately, I have the impression that Tararr still doesn't know what just happened. :)
I originally wrote this scenario years ago as an ancient temple to Wee Jas with a device that shifted the room to the ethereal plane. It had begun to malfunction and the climactic battle had everyone basically under the effects of a blink spell. I thought that was perhaps a bit overly complicated however...

Surak Kekmor |

At this level, that would have probably been a lot easier to deal with, we basically couldn't hurt him at all. I didn't have the right knowledge rolls to yell at Tararr to sunder his weapon but that was what I was thinking the whole time - I would have had to roll perfect on my d10 to do it myself. And actually I don't think any of us could have sundered it at all, come to think of it, since it sounds like it was enchanted, and we have nothing but masterwork.

Bilbo Bang-Bang |

Yeah, I would have sundered, but figured it might not work. In any case, it was a pretty cinematic fight scene. Pretty intense compared to what they have often become these days. I think that is this is the first scenario where I thought I had a decent chance of dying since I have started playing Pathfinder. Nice job! Now for Tararr to go to medical school, lol.

Surak Kekmor |

Do you disagree with how I've been handling the healing? If I'm causing our heaviest hitter to stop and try to heal others during a rage, I'm a little concerned. I can stabilize essentially at will without a skill check, so there might be times when I let people try to stabilize themselves for a round or two if they are nowhere near the danger zone and there are other actions I can do that might be more helpful, but I have not forgotten about them. I didn't know about heal checks to help with poison and such, but now I do. :)

Tararr Trollspiltter |

Hahaha, no, no Surak. I was kidding about the barbar working on people. But,I do believe we all should carry some parts of Healer's kit and two heal potions. We carry a med pouch on us attached to our armor in the Army. Use the injured person's stuff on them before you dip into your's.

Tararr Trollspiltter |

I think we need to throw down on a wand for Surak. Combat was pretty intense and had not been for a couple of good rolls for me, I would be laying next to you and Mark. But, we can now take these as lessons learned and apply what we know we are likely to run into during the rest of the adventure.

Shirish |

I second a wand, when we can afford it. But consumable pots are also good for "oh poo, i'm doing this and the priest is over there!" moments. Or, like what happened, someone goes down, you can force a pot into their throat if the priest is busy stabilizing someone else.
Having not played a ranger before, since it's on the spell list, does she have to be level 4 to use a cure light wound wand, or able to cast CLW at level 7?

Surak Kekmor |

Wands are spell trigger items and as long as the spell is on the ranger spell list you can trigger it even if you don't have a magic class level yet.
Everybody having a potion or two for dire emergencies is generally a good idea, but they get expensive if you use them regularly. :)
If the party wants to go ahead and buy a curing wand together I will be more than happy to use it to healbot when needed. And yeah, I've been annoyed at being too broke for healers kits, heal to treat wounds is at least a good last resort for a few points.
Part of the problem is we've been rushing and I'm blowing a lot of my healing at the beginning of the day just finishing healing us from the day before, the last couple of times. Next level will double my channel effectiveness at least, that and more hit dice should help a lot.

Chitleen Shudra |

Chitleen has 1000ish gp burning a hole in his pocket (as should Shirish and Daeron) from the proceeds of the adamantium. I just have been slack about spending it. His extracts serve as his own emergency pots - but I'll chip in for the wand.
As far as running things - I don't think you're doing anything wrong Surak... I just think Tararr likes getting his meaty fingers bloody a bit too much :P
Oh - and since wife, bub and I are safely ensconced back at home I'm comfortable stepping back into the swing of things. Might still be a bit spotty on timing, but I should be able to post enough to keep things rolling on and not hold anyone up.

Hungry Voodoo |

I think Shirish wants to buy her own CLW wand to wield, in addition to the one people are chipping in for as a group for me to use on everyone (which even I now have money to contribute for, yay!), at least that's what the questions about ranger wand use would lead me to believe. :)
did i miss a question about ranger wand use?

Surak Kekmor |

In #282 Shirish asked if a Ranger can use a CLW wand before level 7, I answered yes based on my reading of the Spell Trigger item rules, which wands are.
