Hungry Voodoo's Mines of Zolurket (Inactive)

Game Master voodoo chili

In 4121 AR, the desert dwarves of the Barrier Wall Mountains sealed the famed Tar-Urkatha mine abruptly, saying only that one of the richest platinum mines in history had played out. Nearly six centuries later, the truth rises from the darkness.

Surak- you were a bit distracted, but where do you think the spider swarm came from? ; )

failed perception check from round 3: "There is a metallic clang across the room and the sound of spell casting. From above, Tarrar is finally loosened from the chimney with a SCLORTCH! and lands heavily in the hearth." and check B-9 on the last map.

Male Elf Wizard 3 (Transmuter-Enhancement) / AC13->17(mage armor) / HP23->full

I was wondering about that avatar in the map..

Awh man, sorry Chitleen. Shirish is trying to help after feeling like a big dope that is just good for taking hits. And doesn't want to be covered in more spiders or get hurt any more.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

It's all good - Chitleen is just a bit prideful is all :P

Pride? From a shining elf with a positive int modifier? What is this?

Actually, I thought it might be funny for one of the new dwarves to touch a canopic jar and watch them get punched out like Cortos. :P

i'll likely be off until tomorrow night. please stand by : )

Dwarf Cleric 2

I will be leaving Wednesday afternoon for a trip, and likely unable to check back in until Monday. Please feel free to GMPC me if it's helpful.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Heh - Chitleen has healing he could use on himself... if he were conscious of course :P

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Probably an appropriate juncture to do a cross-post to all my more active PbPs about an interruption to my posting schedule that is imminent.

My wife is about 37 weeks pregnant, which basically means that the bun is fully cooked and ready to pop at any time. This means that at some point in the next 1 day to 4 weeks I will suddenly and without notice disappear completely from the interwebs. I can't say when or for how long, but it will probably knock me out for up to a week or so before my wife and I get back on our feet and I'm of somewhat sound and untired enough mind to jump back online.

So if I do vanish, please don't fret as I shall return :) I would just ask for some leeway on posting frequency for a while as we adjust to the new baby floating around.

well, seeing as you are currently unconscious ; ) No worries, mate. best wishes and this is a more leisurely PbP anyway so you shouldn't miss much. Once this encounter is wrapped it's just some prep for the assault on the mines.

"I got ma last potion still. Think that the skinny fella will be able to get it down?"

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Hungry Skull - you sure these fellows are on the down low for a 2nd level party? - or are you just having a hot streak with your dice?

Grab + Confusion + explodey goo = sad adventurers...

hey, i can still move, technically. I have to roll for confusion again this round... I could act normal, or hit myself again...

of course not. Should be like a EL4, but what the hell? : ) the good news is that you're on the last apocalypto-rage zombie and then you get some sweet sweet xp.

Also yes, I love my d20s. much to my players chagrin...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

On the last apocalypto zombie before we start getting stabbed by mr ghosty dagger you mean :P

Shirish - there's always the ever popular: fail save, end up attacking nearest person and then passing out from bloodloss - always popular at parties.

Shirish wrote:

Also once you're unconscious, you can stop hurting yourself and let Nurse Tararr handle that for you.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Is it too late to negotiate a DNP (Do Not Poke) with the Dwarven medical board?

I have it on good authority that Mrs. Chitleen's Chitlins have dropped. Meaning Chitleen will be out for a bit tending to the new Chitlett.

Excellent!

Wife and Bub continue to do well and all things considered should hopefully be back in our own home as of tomorrow. Will see how the home-life settles out before committing to a specific time for wading back online so if DM-botting can continue that would be grand.... shouldn't take up much of Voodoo's time given all he can manage is bleeding heroically..

Shirish - ok, I'm sorry for inciting the wrath of vengeful dicebot.

Was an assault from the ethereal plane too obscure? Appropriately, I have the impression that Tararr still doesn't know what just happened. :)

I originally wrote this scenario years ago as an ancient temple to Wee Jas with a device that shifted the room to the ethereal plane. It had begun to malfunction and the climactic battle had everyone basically under the effects of a blink spell. I thought that was perhaps a bit overly complicated however...

Dwarf Cleric 2

At this level, that would have probably been a lot easier to deal with, we basically couldn't hurt him at all. I didn't have the right knowledge rolls to yell at Tararr to sunder his weapon but that was what I was thinking the whole time - I would have had to roll perfect on my d10 to do it myself. And actually I don't think any of us could have sundered it at all, come to think of it, since it sounds like it was enchanted, and we have nothing but masterwork.

I am sorry the dice bot told me to kill you, Chitleen.

:(

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

No harm no foul Shirish - Chitleen did as much damage ramming his own head into the wall as otherwise.

Voodoo - Chitleen would have put two and two together about the etherealness... had he still been in use of his faculties that is ;)

Yeah, I would have sundered, but figured it might not work. In any case, it was a pretty cinematic fight scene. Pretty intense compared to what they have often become these days. I think that is this is the first scenario where I thought I had a decent chance of dying since I have started playing Pathfinder. Nice job! Now for Tararr to go to medical school, lol.

Dwarf Cleric 2

Do you disagree with how I've been handling the healing? If I'm causing our heaviest hitter to stop and try to heal others during a rage, I'm a little concerned. I can stabilize essentially at will without a skill check, so there might be times when I let people try to stabilize themselves for a round or two if they are nowhere near the danger zone and there are other actions I can do that might be more helpful, but I have not forgotten about them. I didn't know about heal checks to help with poison and such, but now I do. :)

I think you're doing fine. I mean, I certainly did not expect Shirish to brain the stuffing out of herself, then kill the elf.

Tough fight, indeed.

Male Dwarf 5 Bar Invulnerable Rager :AC 17/15raging, hp 62 (5d12+10) Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +2; DR 2/4non

Hahaha, no, no Surak. I was kidding about the barbar working on people. But,I do believe we all should carry some parts of Healer's kit and two heal potions. We carry a med pouch on us attached to our armor in the Army. Use the injured person's stuff on them before you dip into your's.

Honestly, I totally forgot we even had money to spend, really, or the Ranger would have totally had that sort of stuff prepared.

Assuming we did have moneys...

I really suck at keeping track of coin I/OOC

Male Dwarf 5 Bar Invulnerable Rager :AC 17/15raging, hp 62 (5d12+10) Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +2; DR 2/4non

I think we need to throw down on a wand for Surak. Combat was pretty intense and had not been for a couple of good rolls for me, I would be laying next to you and Mark. But, we can now take these as lessons learned and apply what we know we are likely to run into during the rest of the adventure.

I second a wand, when we can afford it. But consumable pots are also good for "oh poo, i'm doing this and the priest is over there!" moments. Or, like what happened, someone goes down, you can force a pot into their throat if the priest is busy stabilizing someone else.

Having not played a ranger before, since it's on the spell list, does she have to be level 4 to use a cure light wound wand, or able to cast CLW at level 7?

Dwarf Cleric 2

Wands are spell trigger items and as long as the spell is on the ranger spell list you can trigger it even if you don't have a magic class level yet.

Everybody having a potion or two for dire emergencies is generally a good idea, but they get expensive if you use them regularly. :)

If the party wants to go ahead and buy a curing wand together I will be more than happy to use it to healbot when needed. And yeah, I've been annoyed at being too broke for healers kits, heal to treat wounds is at least a good last resort for a few points.

Part of the problem is we've been rushing and I'm blowing a lot of my healing at the beginning of the day just finishing healing us from the day before, the last couple of times. Next level will double my channel effectiveness at least, that and more hit dice should help a lot.

Male Dwarf 5 Bar Invulnerable Rager :AC 17/15raging, hp 62 (5d12+10) Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +2; DR 2/4non

Yeah, I can pool my money for our Healing supplies. I have like 512 gp still. Two bandages a piece will help and I'll also throw what's left into the community pot.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen has 1000ish gp burning a hole in his pocket (as should Shirish and Daeron) from the proceeds of the adamantium. I just have been slack about spending it. His extracts serve as his own emergency pots - but I'll chip in for the wand.

As far as running things - I don't think you're doing anything wrong Surak... I just think Tararr likes getting his meaty fingers bloody a bit too much :P

Oh - and since wife, bub and I are safely ensconced back at home I'm comfortable stepping back into the swing of things. Might still be a bit spotty on timing, but I should be able to post enough to keep things rolling on and not hold anyone up.

oh, wow, we had that much money? wow... hahaha.

Well then. Definitely get to spending that on a CL wand shortish, yeah.

Umm, does "conscious" mean that I'm able to move around now?

Dwarf Cleric 2

If you still have 0 or less hit points but are awake, you are 'disabled'. You can take one move or standard action per turn, but standard actions cause you to lose a hit point and start dying again after you complete them. Move actions are safe.

so, i am awake, but unable to do anything. Excellent.

Cheerio folks! Is that Shirish bbq I smell?

Female Human Housewife/1

Okay, so I am at -1 health, which means that if I do anything at all, I'm unconscious again. This includes standing up, or attacking from prone...

But... why the heck not... I got a whacky idea.

Yes, Chitleen, Shirish, and Daeron have 1000 gp from the previous adventure's adamantine sale.

So that's 1500 gp to work with now, right?

Sheesh...

Time to go wild!!

I want a wand of protection from evil and a wand of clw. I'll totally pay all my 1500 to get both.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen will slide 250gp your way for the CLW wand.

Dwarf Cleric 2

I think Shirish wants to buy her own CLW wand to wield, in addition to the one people are chipping in for as a group for me to use on everyone (which even I now have money to contribute for, yay!), at least that's what the questions about ranger wand use would lead me to believe. :)

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen is putting 250gp on the table for CLW wand purchasing... how that gets used (ie. for one or two wands) is up to yourself and Shirish to work out.

Surak Kekmor wrote:

did i miss a question about ranger wand use?

Dwarf Cleric 2

In #282 Shirish asked if a Ranger can use a CLW wand before level 7, I answered yes based on my reading of the Spell Trigger item rules, which wands are.

and there you are. : )

Alright I'll have shirish pick up a CL wand, and put 250 toward another.

Pro from evil wand is OOC knowledge, but all these freaking enchantments we've been suffering from lately is bad news bears. No more Confusion!

Dwarf Cleric 2

As a trained cleric, Surak will know about all spells available to him. He should have no problem teaching Shirish about divine magic once it becomes clear that she has latent power even if for now she can't manifest it by herself.

Male Dwarf 5 Bar Invulnerable Rager :AC 17/15raging, hp 62 (5d12+10) Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +2; DR 2/4non

I, too, will offer up another 250 and 50 for a healer kit which I will break into 2 use mini kits for each person.
