I woke up sweaty and hot and just haven't been able to go back to sleep. Part of it is that it's been a really stressful week and the other part is I'm waiting to hear from these people at the women's clinic to find out about my biopsy results. Which hurt like fu©k¡μ& hell by the way.

I just had a random thought.
I was looking over my old Piper documents for the start of the Cadrinites Adventure, and I got to thinking. If I were to try and make this into a one shot module for young adventurers, would it be to crazy to allow the PC's to forgo a feat in exchange for a single class feature (restricted) of a PC Class? For example, an Expert could use a feat slot to get Sneak Attack, but only at 1d6. Or another example, an Adept could use a feat to gain access to a single spell from one of the caster classes of either first level or lower (i.e. Magic Missile).
Does that seemed balanced?

Not really. Dumping a feat for one class feature is really a disadvantage. Class features build off each other to be effective and one spell isn't always going to come in handy. The better thing to do is create encounters that can be handled without class features.
You see, this is why I asked. I hadn't considered how much class features build off of each other.

The 3.5 UA had a system like that. It's what I used when my friend and I were designing our fallout E6 rules.
Oh yeah, I remember that. Matter of fact I have that book somewhere.

Yeah and in Pathfinder especially the structure of how classes build upon themselves is a big part of the design. You've seen first hand how much multi-classing can gimp a character.
Features that don't mesh end up being essentially weaker than the sum of it's parts on paper.
Quite true. I mean the main reason I considered the thought in the first place, was because of what I did in the actual game. Allowing some uses of certain features with some restrictions. Another reason was primarily for the Adept. That class makes sense if you're planning on retraining as a Cleric or a Witch, but not a lot of other casters.
Although, maybe it could be modified like the Spellcaster in the Generic Class system? Upon creation you select divine or arcane and that dictates what spells you can cast? Would that make sense or even work?

For what you're thinking of using it for I think it would be easier to remove features/skills/spells from the original class. Thus you wouldn't need a total rebuild after the 'tutorial' just a few add-on's.

Right. Water down the existing class but it's still clear what "career path" it derives from. Acolyte, budding Sorceror, not quite at level 1 power but clearly headed in that direction.
Like the not quite Cleric gets a single domain, and the domain spell but no domain power and maybe only channels d4's

More Options.
Weakened Familiar (No Alerness or other buffs)
Weakened Sneak Attack (d4's)
Weakened Animal Companion (Lower CR or small size only)
Fewer spells per/day
Fewer Rage/Bardic Rounds per/day
Only Proficient in simple weapons/light armor for Martial types
Hmm, now that's an interesting thought of how to do young adventurers altogether. We may have to delve more into that later.

Nah....I have other.....appetites that need satisfying right now. Besides....I've eaten plenty in the last day or so. My tummy is still full from the two cooks.
As long as it's within budget, I don't see why not.
EDIT: Besides, what kind of villain would you be without something memorable that no one else has?

Why? Your claws seem to be doing enough. And there are feats you can take to improve them further.

Just something to amuse me. When ya get my list, just humor me.
Or what, you'll eat somebody? Wait, that's still a bad thing here right?
