Ack! Only 1 bonus rank then, oh well. Frees up skill points from here on out. Made the adjustments to my character sheet except for the additional 1st level spell per day. I noted how many planes ranks come from the headband after the entry.

I was looking at pics the other day and found this gem.

Very appropriate, wish I could do that.

Just sent. Sorry about that. :(

Have you tried using your phone to access the file and sending it to your email address?

Action 2

Having heard Tillia's pronouncement, Vandomir added, "I trust Tillia's opinion in this. No offense to the rest of you, but I have no concerns with using the gifts from Thrune." Vandomir considered the abilities of the items before continuing, "Eirik, I suspect this belt of quickness and dexterity is well suited to your abilities. Likewise with Tillia and the headband. Noravia can make the best use of the morningstar, and the belt of strength also. Caleb, take the charm, perhaps it can help to keep you alive a bit longer."

So we're gonna go help the sea elves, is that the decision? We decided Eirik is wearing the Manta cloak right?

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

We have that one +swim ring... What would another cost? If we go underwater in the sea, we can expect harder DCs than those for calm waters we struggled with earlier.

"Too well suited by far. Do as you see best, as shall I," Eirik said, shaking his head.

I will give you at least a turn to prepare for your excursion but it's never too early to start planning. Especially with you guys. :)

Seriously, I'll have Aava provide further info during your meeting.

And remember that almost everything is better IC...

Hey, I thought I had posted the party loot split for 7th level but I can't find that.

I know I did it (computer at home) but it looks like I'll have to adjust it given the gift situation.

It seems like Tillia and Vandomir will keep their gifts and Eirik will sell it.

What about Caleb and Noravia?

I need to know so I can adjust future loot to more or less put everyone at the same level...

Vandomir nodded, "indeed, so must we all, but even if your concerns of scrying are valid, what harm can it be if he knows we are three leagues out to sea and ninety fathoms down? At least wear them when we go out on missions, and carry them in a lead box otherwise."

As stated by Vandomir, because IC is better than OOC, none of those gifts are his. He simply has opinions on using them.

I've posted the party loot split spreadsheet for 7th level (posted on campaign tab).

Please make sure I did not miss anything.

I've assumed that all will use Brassy's gifts except irik; I've already made arrangements with Eirik.

The following players have money to spend:

Eirik (5,000 gp);
Noravia (3,500 gp); and
Tillia (3,000 gp).

Please let me know what you will acquire...

Noravia was always in favor of using the gifts so she'll gladly take the morningstar. I'm leaning towards frost but I'll take another look. I think that the belt of strength was for Vandomir, no?

I think we need freedom of movement and water breathing. If we can get freedom of movement, we probably wouldn't need another ring of swimming. Not sure what would be available though.

Noravia, you take the strength belt. We're better off with you using it, I'm not a melee character.

male
Vandomir Jarvis wrote:

No, the idea was to give a gift that boosted your main stat. The reason that Caleb and Noravia got something different was because they already had those items (i.e., Noravia already got her gift).

Vandomir, would you rather have another belt?

Male Chelaxian Ranger 8 (AC:21[T:12 FF:19] | HP: 79/79 40/71 (0NL) | F+9*, R+8, W+5 | Init: +2* |Perc: +14*)

Vandomir doesn't know anything about main stats and things like that. He knows that Noravia is a melee fighter and strength helps melee, it doesn't help archery. Strength is far from being my main stat. It doesn't matter to me, or to Vandomir, who the item was intended for, it's better for us if a Noravia has it.

You're right about STR not being your main stat; my bad. I guess I still had the image of Vandomir with the greatsword.

The belt is a belt of DEX then so actually two belts of DEX were provided...

You don't need to change anything, it's all good as is.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Vandomir, Fabian just wants everyone to have close to suggested GP value of loot, so if you don't want those, he needs to make other special arrangements like with Eirik ;^)

Anyway... so Eirik'd take the cloak... what did we agree it does, after all the debate? Give manta's movement rate, senses (?), ability to breath water and one extra weak natural attack?

Other thing... did we make knowledge checks to find out about the aboleth necromancer? If so, what did we find out? I'm not quite sure what item to pick for Eirik, so might buy some targeted consumables if we figured out what kind of danger to expect (the undead, yeah, sure, since the word necromancer was mentioned, but anything about an aboleth's racial powers/immunities?

Male Chelaxian Ranger 8 (AC:21[T:12 FF:19] | HP: 79/79 40/71 (0NL) | F+9*, R+8, W+5 | Init: +2* |Perc: +14*)
Eirik Clausen wrote:

Breathe, swim, natural armor, and the tail attack.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Anyway... items for 5k... the one thing Eirik could REALLY use (in addition to the +dex belt) would be an upgrade to his amulet, but that'd mean finding someone to enchant it and leaving it behind for a while... not a good idea to do to his main dps boost item when going on what could well be a battle-heavy adventure. So, if one forgets that, I could go for some wondrous item instead, perhaps a cheaper one to leave some gold for consumables for this particular adventure's needs. Like a Dead Man's Headband, to play with the new unarmed attack synergy with Intimidate. That'd be only 3k.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Never mind about the amulet upgrade, didn't realize it'd cost 8k. Gonna get back to that in about 5 levels ;^)

male

The manta ray cloak provides swimming 60', breathing (talking), and a tail attack (1d6).

I intend to recap later today and will add info on aboleth and other stuff.

Eirik, you've managed to confuse me with what you want to do with your 5,000 gp.

Vandomir: I must insist since Brassy has done his homework and looked into the Ravens (even if Fabian messed up :)) so let's have two dex belts being offered as gifts (one for you and one for Eirik).

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

How about that Dead Man's Headband (not the best item, but reasonably cool and somewhat useful) for 3600gp, and then some consumables with the remainder. Say, 5 Protection from Evil potions (one for each, generally good if the necromancer has nasty undead minions around) for measely 250gp, 3 scrolls of Searing Light (the wand is just too expensive, and these are good to KILL those powerful undead minions if they appear, just as the potions are good at keeping them at bay) for 1125gp.

Unless you'd rather not have Eirik use that much of his allocation to buy what is practically party treasure... in that case, I'll just take the headband and leave it at that.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

If Noravia got some scrolls of freedom of movement, what DC would she be looking at to cast them? What caster level would you have the scrolls at?

I think having the frost element for the morningstar would be best against devils. Thoughts from the group?

Still unsure what to spend her money on but she will be loading up on some scrolls.

Definitely not fire, they tend to be immune. Cold and acid they have resistance.

Is sound an option?

"Is he trying to forment rebellion? Caleb was shocked "2gp? He might as well split the city in half! I though the was trying to leech money from the populace... but no-one will pay this much! It's two days' wages for most people! A week for a 'daily' pass!"
He looked thoughtful "Perhaps that is it. Perhaps he is looking for an excuse to crack down, so he can scoop us up along with the protesters. I was going to suggest we lynch the tax collectors, but now I'm not sure."

Action 2
Caleb looked appropriately horrified. "Uh - is there a cure for either of those? Especially the see-through-skin one?" He pauses "Also, that mean if we see anyone where we can see all their organs there's a good chance they're not some type of monster, and just elves that've gotten afflicted?"

action: cast Aboleth's lung
swim: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

action: cast Alter Self to gain swim speed. Are Grippli possibe?
Caleb snuck to the river, intending to swim across. 'I'm not paying THRUNE just to avoid getting wet. I've spent the better part of a week underwater anyway. Tillia knows how to dry clothes.'

He moved like a shadow through the city, slipping from cover to cover, and roof to roof. Soon enough he was at the river, and slipped in.
All his life Caleb had avoided swimming. The sum of his experience was largely the cold, still water beneath the Lucky Bones. He was in no way prepared for the strength of the current. Dragged under by invisible hands that plucked at his cloak, Caleb struggled to draw breath - and found it.
Cloak, hair and clothes somehow stretched out like the tentacles of the monster he'd merged with days ago. The water still carried him wildly from place to place, but now he breathed easily. This time he managed to get his head above the surface... and instantly was unable to breathe. Panicking he lost his struggle with rushing water, pushed once more below into the somehow comforting, womb-like water below. His breath returned as soon as he submerged.
The transformation completed, and the thing that had once been Caleb swum easily now through the river. A dark shadow in darker water, he flicked through the stream until he reached the submerged entrance to the Lucky Bones. Another minute and he reached the docks... and stopped, unable to proceed further. He felt at home here now, somehow - and unable to breathe in the desperately dry air above.

Mechanics & reasoning: Fabian:

Alright, Caleb can't come out of the water.
He can cast Alter Self on his wasp to send her though. It'll give her a chance to talk as well. Base Caster Level is 7, plus one for the tattoo, plus one for the shifter's headband. CL 9 is 9 minutes, which should give time to get to the meeting and talk for a little while - she'll book before the spell gives out.
I've been working up to this for a long time!
She'll take his dagger, and I believe stylised clothes come along for the transformation - not that she cares, but let's keep it clean.
For the record the character image is Satinder Morne, p35 of "Blood for Blood" Kingmaker 4 of 6. I can send you the image if you like.

Action 3
A young lady walked up to the meeting from deeper down in the lair.
She wore a black-and-yellow outfit that looked like armour - though given the softness of the leather and the way it left her stomach bare 'looked' was the operative word. She also looked young, though under her blue-tinted makeup it was hard to tell if that was natural or artifice.
"Hello!" she greeted the group "I'm Caleb's Ward. He's stuck below at the Docks - he might need a bit of help after the meeting. He sent me in his place." She smiles mischievously "I mean, those weren't his exact words, but I'm sure that's what he means."

She looks over the others.
"Now let me see..."
broken this up into sections by people

"This must be Vandomir the Swordsman? Richest rebel in Kintargo? Made out with two girls for hours while he waited to kill some guy?"

"Tillia, right? Nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you." she looks over at Vandomir and back, then winks "Very nice."

More to come

She continued her sweep. "Ah - Noravia." there seemed a strange tone in the young woman's voice "Caleb's new friend. He talks about you a lot. My sisters think you're going to break his heart - but I know you're not that stupid. Are you?"

"Now, who is this with the sour look on his face? Eirik? The Celibate Abadarian monk? I think it is. Strange to find one of you here with" she looked at Tillia "Sex", then at Noravia "Drugs" and finally at Vandomir "and Opera."
Wanted to write 'Rock & Roll', but I think it is too far out of character, even if there is an equivalent. On the other hand Opera seems to fill that niche in Kintargo.

"Hetamon? I haven't heard much of you, but what I have heard speaks well. Delighted to meet you."

She finally finished turning as she came to their guest, switching into fluent elven. "Aava, I presume? The sea-elf villager come to beg help from Kintargo, and captured on the way. The Ravens have decided to risk their lives and their purposes to help your people. I do hope you remember that when it is time to return the favour."

Noravia's face displayed both anger and sadness at Octavio's information. "It does seem like he's trying to further divide the city. He's trying to keep each area of Kintargo in its own nice little box and anyone who strays outside their box will be punished. I'm concerned about an increase in smuggling. That opens up another possible venue for the citizens of Kintargo to be taken advantage of." She glances quickly at Caleb hoping he hadn't taken offense. Noravia shuddered at the thought of translucent skin. Her head snapped up at Rexus' last question. It had never occurred to her that Hetamon coming with them was an option. Turning to Hetamon she asked, "Is that something you'd be willing or able to do? Come with us? I can add that to the list of scrolls I need to procure but having you with us would be ideal to say the least. But that may just be selfish on my part...having another Milanite along will always be my preference."

Weapons were drawn at Vespula's sudden appearance and the tension in the room escalated. Once the initial shock of her sudden appearance wore off, her words sank in and Noravia starts for the door, "Caleb needs help? Shouldn't we go now?"

Once assured that Caleb was in no immediate danger, the inquisitor stops and listened as she addressed them all.

Well, the headband ain't something I simply must have... but I don't fancy something generic like ring of protection either. How 'bout Acrobat's slippers instead? A bit cheaper, more monkish, though I believe even less useful on an underwater adventure ;^)

"That might be what he's aiming for, but what he will get is civil war whether we do anything to incite one or not," Eirik said, shaking his head in puzzlement. "He might be a noble used to excess and never wanting for anything, but surely even such a person can't be this detached from reality? You can't just divide a city in half and expect people to be able to continue their lives. Shopkeepers won't get their deliveries, artisans can't get from their homes to where they work, customers can't reach the shops... not without paying more than they can afford. People will have to either starve, leave, or rebel. It's almost as if the Paracount wants the city to tear itself apart, except what would he possibly gain from it? Rattling the cage to get the elements most likely to rebel to show themselves is one thing, but..." muttering curses, Eirik once again tried and failed to make sense of the Paracount's actions.

Her eyes widening in interest Tillia couldn't help but ask, "What's it like? Natural Magic, sorcerery, I mean, I've always been curious. How did you learn to control it without formulae to guide the flow?" It seemed as though she hadn't even considered that such a question might be an annoyance or too personal to ask, it seemed that her natural curiosity had gotten the better of her.

Quote:

They woke up to the news of a new tax hike. Thrune announced a second tax hike to all, Bleakbridge traffic. After the last increase to 5 sp per crossing, the tax for crossing the bridge increased to 2 gp (or 10 gp for a day-long pass).

Laria shook her head, “This shouldn’t inconvenience you, but crosses the line for many of Kintargo’s citizens. Those who own boats will begin smuggling travelers between north and south Kintargo.”

Octavio added, “The increased taxes on Bleakbridge are just the start. I hear Thrune’s planning on taxing entertainment, food, and even the streets themselves soon!”

As they discussed this sudden change Tillia realized that it was just as bad as everyone suggested. She couldn't come up with much to add, though she did make one suggestion, "I think it would be wise to set some people watching the smuggling for any such occurrences of people being harmed or taken advantage of like some of you have voiced. Keeping the people safe is part of what we do now, even if it's from 'legitimate smugglers'."

Action 2
The information on the abolteh that Rexus had dug up was very concerning, she wasn't sure she wanted to deal with it but it was in everyone's best interests if they did. "I'm, almost relieved, to say that I won't be able to speak to the aboleth, and I don't think I want to be able to. I also would prefer to avoid having my skin turn translucent." She nodded in agreement with the general agreement about the skin issue and looked to Rexus, "Do you know if that is reversible? If you don't then maybe the elves will."

It was to her relief that Rexus knew the means to cure the skin problem and she continued on to another question, "Also, do you know of any weaknesses it might have? Anything we can exploit?"

Action 3
The appearance of Vespula was a shock to Tillia, she'd never seen this woman before and was about to cast something to try and protect them from a possible threat when something caused her to pause. When the woman introduced herself the pause made sense, it was the colors she wore. Watching this woman curiously Tillia was startled to find that she knew about them, even more so that she'd heard a lot about Tillia herself from Caleb. Once the woman finished her introduction and greeting Tillia rose and walked towards. Upon reaching Vespa, she leaned in to kiss each cheek in greeting, "It's nice to meet a friend of Caleb's, though I'm curious, why would you call me 'Sex' in that line you gave Eirik?"

"Oh, I'm sorry" Vespula apologised "I thought your magic was all about.." Vespula makes a negligent gesture and familiar yellow runes appear around her hand.

Action 3 con't.
Tillia knew the spell that was cast, she'd used it herself a few times, and despite the fact the spell wasn't targeted on her, as the closest one to it the magic was drawn to her. She felt the energy wash over her and let it in willingly since the spell wasn't going to harm her. She found herself overcome with lust and with Vespula in front of her, found herself pressing her lips against the woman's fiercely as the magic ran it's course.

Yeah, couldn't help myself. Further response based on Ves' reaction.

Vespula stared slitted-eyed at Noravia for a long moment, apparently trying to read some hidden meaning in the statement. Finally she nodded as if deciding something and brightened up "Wonderful. I'm sure we'll be great friends too then. Call me Ves."

Noravia nodded as Vespula seemed to accept her. "Alright then. Nice to meet you Ves. You will let us know when Caleb actually needs our help, will you not?" Then the inquisitor paused as if trying to decide whether to ask her another question but decided against it. Instead she decided to talk to Caleb later to clear up a few things.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Is it possible for us to get 4 scrolls of water breathing and 4 scrolls of freedom of movement? Noravia would pitch in her 3500 to spend but that leaves her 800gp short.

I'm still having trouble choosing her +1 bonus. Bane or Planar would be nice against devils but I highly doubt that Brassy would have been that 'nice.' That leaves either Shock or Frost. Anyone have an opinion? The shock probably wouldn't be that great in the water...would it fry us all? But then again Frost may freeze us all in the water. Ugh, decisions...
