I'm going to disagree with Clydwell/Roman - Kerda is likely the best scout -I guess I take an oldskool approach to Thieves, and rail against the WBL/ABP codification of Pathfinder.

Likely I'm dead wrong. Then again, I think Kerda would likely not be able to stow the odd +1 aggrandising frost brickbat or suit of Mithras chain mail - even she will recognise that strength in (well equipped) numbers will work for her, up to a point.

(Adelita is too young and inexperienced to scout, or talk to people without
putting her foot in it. She's good in a fight, and has her companions' back.)

Don't worry too much about a lootless party. While I love RPing a greedy thief, I at least know how to pull the reins enough so that everyone enjoys the game.

Mostly it was a joke, though, since Kerda usually won't take much initiative until a goal is in sight, gets bored, or there's gold involved.

Cool, well I am all for setting up a scout character that the GM can react to without having to wait for everyone to post a direction to go. Unless you guys want to use a rule of 2 instead?

While it seems like everyone else is okay with the character robbing the party (because, that is what she's doing, taking money and resources that would be otherwise evenly split among the group to help them survive the adventure) I will state my stance against it. It lands in the same distasteful zone as willfully pvping another player; there has to be a good reason for the individual act.

I am an old school gamer, but I have changed over time to believe that one players jollies is not worth the aggravation of the rest of the players. [edit] OR the DM...

That's my stance on the matter, however. I will not question her ability to scout or roleplay her personality. I just dislike that kind of behavior because it not only breaks party trust, its one of the things that are extremely hard for players to not take personally.

@Shotaru - at least two others agree with you, and possibly Kerda's player as well.

Kerda's player has assured us there will be no lootless rooms etc...

She's a thief - that's her schtick - if she can't steal, even from us, what is the point. And if we catch her, we can deal with it.

I'm also of the old-school, but even then we let players play their characters, and still everyone was able to play within the realms of a group, if not a team. Pathfinder - at least on these boards - has a team-players mentality that just doesn't do anything for my verisimilitude - we are here, hired by royals, and all from different backgrounds (except Argil and Clyd) - there will doubtless be some initial kinks. We will work them out.

I'm happy with the slow pace, to be honest. We have a lot of players and it's hard to expect more.

I'd certainly have a harder time having to read through 10+ posts every day if we were moving too much quicker. One post every day or two works pretty well for me.


Yeah, PbP posting rates can really ebb and flow. It is important to try and keep momentum going, but you shouldn't be too concerned if everyone doesn't post every day. The first rule of PbP is that real life comes first; despite folks best intentions, we all may not be able to log in every day.
