don't look at me, I ain't got no plans

![]() |

"Stay here, and come running if I call.." says Orophin.
Then, hoisting his pack onto his back and whistling a jaunty tune, he heads into town to try and find out what is happening and where the ferry is.
Takes ten on diplomacy(gather information) for 23

![]() |

Message on Orophin.
"Tenerek, can you stay with Orophin without being seen?"

![]() |
Usawoti stands with the goblins, shuffling his feat, trying to understand what everyone was doing, he looks around the village trying to understand what could be so dangerous that every house has a white spiked fence to guard it.
salt stay, goblins stay
knowledge: local: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8

![]() |

Orophin, slightly wary of meeting a large ice troll up close and personal, puts on a brave face and heads for the ferry station building.
"Excuse me? Mr Rimetusk? I'm so sorry to bother you, but I was hoping to be able to bring a group across on your magnificent ferry..."
Will happily flatter the troll as required, takes ten on diplomacy for 23

![]() |

"I promised I would watch the green ones today Mr. Salt, if you want to keep the others safe. I am sure the little greenies will be fine under my care. Just be prepared to run if Orphin calls." Eponine offers.

![]() |
Usawoti looks at the kind gnome with confusion, all this talk of "green ones" and "greenies" and "others", maybe his understanding of common is not as good as he thought it was. He responds to Eponine with a sincere but softly spoken
Usawoti mean Salt
I'm assuming Orophin is talking to the troll, Tenerek is near him hiding, the rest are still together near the goblins. If this in not the case let me know

![]() |

Orophin smiles at the Troll.
"Certainly not prisoners. Why, a small group of us could never control such a large number of goblins. Do you see shackles and manacles on them? Of course not. These are free willed and free spirited goblins. We are escorting them for reasons of personal safety."
I think this is essentially true, if not he'll have to change tactics a little, and Orophin is not too good at lieing. He'll try to swing a bribe for the troll 'looking the other way'

![]() |

"That's good. You have to know that snow goblins are citizens of Irrisen. They are treated equally like human, trolls and everybody else." the ice troll says. "Now tell me who you are and why you want to travel across the river. And how many persons do you want to take with you?"
You treated the goblins well so they will not complain if asked. Orophin was able to change the troll's attitude from unfriendly to indifferent.

![]() |

Orophin smiles at the troll. "We have.. lets me see.." he pulls out a purse and counts out silver coins - one for each goblin and one for each pathfinder. I think it is 14, but may have miscounted
After leaving them on the table he says "I think that is right. Now, how much is the fee for crossing?"
And he'll keep on trying to use diplomacy if he can. 23 for a take ten.

![]() |

We were sent on a quest Mandower adds. If you want, we can do you a favor too, if there is really something you need done He says with a friendly voice diplomacy: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (12) = 17

![]() |

"Orophin, how is your search going? Reply only if there is immediate danger or it is safe to do so."
Gustav whispers via spell.
DC 25 perception allows creatures near Orophin to listen in.

![]() |

Picking up a little on Usawoti's discomfort, Eponine explains, "Goblins are green, like grass" poking one of the goblins she continues, "so we call them greenies, gobbos, green skins, or big heads, because their heads are huge!" the gnome finishes, pointing to her own head and using her hands to show its rough size, then comparing that to the head of a goblin. "Much bigger head."

![]() |
Usawoti nods his head, pointing at the grass, then using his hands making a ball shape larger around his head and repeats
greenies, gobbos
it must be a sign of affection
he then looked concerned at Eponine and then the scary white cages around the little uniform houses and says
salt stay with gobbos and gnomies
smilling as he changes the tense of gnomes the way Eponine had green and goblin.

![]() |

"We'll cross now, thanks very much."
Orophin forks over an additional 28 silver, leaving the existing silver on the table for the troll.
"I'll go get the others."
He turns and replies to the message "all good, bring them down."

![]() |

"It would seem that Orophin really does have a way with words. To the ferry!"
Why can I not seem to be able to trust this troll...

![]() |

Rimetustk smiles at the tip. "Thank you very much, I will remind your face in case you want to cross back to Irrisen." he says. The troll leaves the building, pulls a rope and you see a red light flashing at the top of the building. "Please wait here, the ferry will pick you up in half an hour. The trip to the other side will take another half hour." The ferry starts to cross the river towards you.
The troll is now friendly. But you can always talk to him and roll Sense Motive ;)

![]() |
Usawoti, still rubbing his arms to stay warm, follows behind the goblins with the party. After seeing the troll he understands why the little houses have sharp guard fences around them.
maybe the troll is like an elephant, when its little it cannot step over the white guard fences and now that its bigger it no longer tries. If I had to live in a little box I would still want my guard fence higher
when they arrive at the ferry loading station, Usawoti wanting to use the new phrases he learned, very proudly says
greeny gobbos goblins stay with Salt and gnomies Eponinies

![]() |

perception: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (12) = 15 not that I don't trust the troll, but you never know if something got on the fairy that shouldn't be there, like an enemy hidden or just someone who slayed everyone and took over the fairy. Does anyone look like they don't belong here on the fairy with that perception?

![]() |

Eponine nods at Salt, and feeds the gnomes their lunch rations before the ferry ride, just to keep them more calm on the trip across the river. "Now little ones, eat up. I don't want any of you suffering unduly on the trip across the river. Make sure to keep youselves mostly to yourselves on the trip, eh?"
Curious about the troll, Eponine quietly observes him as the group waits for the ferry.
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 19

![]() |

Epione listens to the conversation between the troll and Orophin. She thinks the troll is greedy, but does not have any ulterior motive. There is only one person on the ferry, a man of about 50 years. He wears simple clothes and a blue cap. He's steering the ferry. The ferry is a flat-bottom-ferry made of wood. It's simple and big enough to transport 20 people.
After Boarding the man steers the ferry to the other side of the river.

![]() |

Well, thank you for you services. We'll be seeing you around.

![]() |
On the ferry ride Usawoti tried to stay away from the edge so he would not drop in the cold water. As the ferry landed he started to heard the goblins off the raft and back onto dry land. He nods to the simply dressed older man and says
good by ferryman
once on dry ground he carefully looks around
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

![]() |

How much did the ferry ride cost please?
"Good Orophin I hope you did not think we would allow you to pay this toll yourself"
I found I have that extra money so I can pay for stuff now.. yay
Tenerek hands Orophin his share of the toll

![]() |

Eponine thanks the man in the blue hat, "Many thanks good sir. You got us across safely, which is all I can ask of a ferryman. . . You wouldn't have a cousin with a large yellow hat and a monkey per chance?"
Once they are free of the ferryman's sight, Eponine likewise pays her two silver to Orophin. "Well negotiated! I as afraid it would cost ten times that amount."
Who has the map? I will aid whoever has the map in navigation if required, feel free to roll for me if I am not here. Otherwise, I will just follow and chat with the goblins.

![]() |

The ferry ride costs 2sp per person, also for the goblins. Orophin gave a 14sp bribe/tip extra.
Usawoti does not see anything unusual and the ferry crosses the river a list time for today, back to Harvest's End. The man on the ferry smiles and nods before leaving the dock. The further path to your destination is easy to find.
You are almost free and clear of Irrisen. With the Rimeflow miles behind them, they’re ready to turn west to cross over into Hagreach, the easternmost portion of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, and their final destination of Trollheim. The planned route through a stretch of wooded land is intended to keep them out of sight from the wandering patrols of either nation. The temperature is higher here.
Natural trails wind through these woods, allowing passage through the thickets and shrubs. A sudden opening reveals a little house, no larger than a small child’s tree fort, built atop bundled tree branches lashed together like stilts or legs. The woodwork on the exterior of the house is exquisite, almost delicate in its craftsmanship. The only entrance to this small, one room structure is an open doorway facing west.

![]() |

"Odd. Who's for going around? This 'structure' gives me the creeps."
Gustav eyes the little house suspiciously but keeps the raven close.
Best to keep you with me in case I need to bring another servant into play!

![]() |

KN Local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
So 14 ferries and 14sp bribe is 42 Silver which comes to 7sp each and Orophin doesn't pay as he did the work, what do you say?
Tenerek slips off into the trees to observe the hut
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

![]() |

Though not as skilled in the art of stealth as Tenerek, Eponine does her best to assist the young human.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 +2 dex, +4 size
Perception: Aid Other: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

![]() |

Mandower will stand back and wait, as he is not climbing that tree and he certainly doesn't want to try to fit in that small house.

![]() |
Usawoti stays with the goblins, when he hears Tenerek math he starts counting on his fingers, wishing he was not wearing boots. He approaches Orophin and fishes his ten silvery coins out of his pockets. He holds two of them up over his eyes, imitating putting coins on the eyes of the dead. He smiles and says
pay ferryman
And hands the two coins to Orophin, he then hands two more silver coins to Orophin and points at the nearest goblin and says
for greenie gobbo goblin
As, he drops the rest of his coins into his pocket he digs into his other pocket and removes its contents. It appears to be full of nick nacks; buttons, thread, teeth and beads. He pulls out what looks to be the canine tooth of a house cat. Usawoti holds it up and looks at it, then handing it over to Orophin he says
tip
Satisfied that he has paid his part he goes to the back of the goblin pack and diligently watches them.

![]() |

So 7sp per PC if we share the goblins' fare and tip/bribe? Whatever the total price, Gustav repays Orophin happily and with thanks.

![]() |

oh, right, Mandower pays orophin back the 7 sp.

![]() |

"Why thank-you. The gesture surely is appreciated, and it would be a rude performer to throw back the thanks of his audiance. Rest assured though that I have adequate funding if any of you are short. My last performance in Absalom was a complete sell out."
The whole thing was about 4gp. Throwing an alchemists fire is ten times as expensive. Those characters who actually want are welcome to make a contribution, but Orophin really doesn't need it.
He looks at the small house.
Mumbling under his breath, he checks it for signs of magic.
Casts detect magic
"My strong recommendation is we avoid it. Our task it to get the goblins to safety..."
He does look twice though. "Still, we are pathfinders, and the first word in our motto is 'Explore'..."

![]() |

Eponine whispers to Uswati as she sneaks after Tenerek, "You should keep the rest of the cat in case she bribes anyone else." With a wink at Orophin, the gnome is off.

![]() |
to Usawoti's untrained jungle ways, Orohpin looks just as masculine as the rest of the men
Usawoti scratches his head and shrugs his shoulders at the goblins
cat won't fit in pocket, even just bones...what woman bribes people, Orophin gave money to appease the ferryman, Orophin is smart man
Usawoti mean salt
thinking for a moment about what Orophin said, Usawoti finally points out
no need explore, path right here, it found

![]() |

Orophin nods to Usawoti.
"Indeed it is. But that house... have you ever seen one like it before? Aren't you just a little ... curious.. about what it is doing here, and what is within it?"
Orophin is untrained in knowledge(local) and thus can't make the DC15 check.

![]() |

The door to the hut is open. Inside you see a simple chair Standing in the center. On this chair sits a porcelain doll. It sits perfectly still, creepily watching the landscape through the hut's door. Orohpin feels that there is something magic in the hut.
After seeing the percelain doll the Frostfur goblins become terrifid. Cowering, they plead for you to protect them from the wrath of the Witch Queen. "Please protect us! It's the Witch Queen! She can see everything through the eyes of this murderous doll!" they scream.

![]() |

"Stay here for now, little friends, and tell me more about this 'Witch Queen' and her 'murderous dolls.' I have little experience with this region."
Gustav is not lying. He really doesn't know anything beyond common knowledge about the area. Even living murderous dolls like goblins may know a thing or two about the one in our path, though.
diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Sadly, Gustav feels vastly superior to the Frostfur goblins and fails to subdue his condescending tone.

![]() |

Tenerek will lurk in the trees, seeing if anything happens, he readies bow ready to go into action.
I have taken the silver off my character so I have given Orophin the 7 silver

![]() |

The goblins tell the legends about small, chicken-legged houses inhabited by porcelain dolls, created from the souls of stolen human children (and young goblins of course) and fashioned in the likenesses of ugly, white-haired crones. These dolls supposedly sit and watch Irrisen’s western border, and many tales say they walk the land at night with murderous intent. "This doll will kill us all! The Witch Queen! She's watching us! Look at the doll's eyes! They are moving!"

![]() |

Having no reason to disbelieve the goblins, Eponine prepares a bomb, and slips closer to the hut.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
If the gnome is able to notice the eye movement reported by the goblins, Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14, she will count down from 5, using her fingers, Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 10 to alert Tenerek to her intent before throwing her explosive To Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 into the house, at the doll vs. Touch AC if within 20', -2 to hit if 20-30' against normal AC, -4 to hit if 35-60'.
If Tenerek signals to not attack, I will instead hold action until such time as someone else acts, including attempting to interrupt the doll's movement.
Miss Direction: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, +1 if I can move to 30' from doll
Splash Damage = 5

![]() |

Orophin does what he can to calm the goblins.
"No goblins, child or adult will fall to a doll while we are around."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
He does look closely at the dolls eyes though.
"Maybe we should drop off our charges and then come back to investigate this. I'd hate to lose any to panic."
