Near the end of Therien and Tissari's little walk, things start to seem... Off. The Shard, that ever-glowing escarpment of creation-stuff itself, grows dull. The animals of the world become more aggressive. The Cull struggle even more.

------------------

In Quarrel's End, the Male tells Mirri, Something is wrong. Life is wrong, imbalanced. All life is fighting itself.
Mirri looks into the Hive and sees. Cull all over the world are fighting their prey. Creatures designed to run now turn and attack. Creatures designed to hide ambush instead. Several species of carnivorous plants are encountered and, for the first time, the trees them selves begin to fight amongst themselves. They animate and move, wading through the land like a duck does water. They attack trees of a different kind and their fights sound like thunder from afar.
Use Create monsterous life several thousand tines to create carnivorous plants that can eat just about anything including people.
3 ap to create Greater Life: Ents, though they are not currently the peaceful creatures we know.

-----------------------

Deep underground, beneath the Shard, Zakaz endures. He is bound in chains of shadow, cut off from the world. All his aspects are contained. He roars and trashes, but his strength is greatly reduced and he cannot overcome his chains.
Time passes. The world goes wrong as Shess experiments. Using his infernal dagger he brings Zakaz to the brink of death and back again, and again, and again. The pain rolls through Zakaz, assaulting his sanity on every side, but he resists. The power of the Shard keeps him strong.
So the pain goes up a knotch. Then another. And another. Soon it is straining even his sanity. His blood covers the walls and from it sprung all manner of thorny vines, dangerous plants and thick briars. The cavern in which Shess does his work becomes a living monument to suffering and pain.

---------------------------

Time passes Zakaz sees red and IS pain. His life is a living nitemare. Every waking moment is nothing but a fight to remember who he is, every breath a struggle. He staggers back into the world scared and broken. His pelt ripped and hardened by a million precision cuts, his claws sharp from constant struggle. He stumbles his way about the world in blind agony. Nonetheless power radiates from him, a tainted power that corrupts all it touches.

----------------------------

The Shard seems to be the only place where this is not the case. The protective and regenerative energies of Creation keep Shess's evil at bay and it is here that the gods can feel Zakaz return. He does not manifest here, but he is felt, like an echo carried on the breeze. The god news is that the god of life exists still. The bad news is he may need to be stopped by force.

[Ooc]Zakaz is in possession of the Dagger of Shess.

As he meditated in the Sun's plane, Therien began to have his godly awareness restored. A flood of pain washed over him, and he smelled the blood of his Thirdfather in the lands below. Pain and blood, these were familiar to the God of both.

The creatures of the land had turned savage during his sojourn as a human. At the time, he had thought his Thirdfather might have been angry with him for his refusal to appease Tissari's. Now he knew how foolish, how human such thoughts had been.

No, Zakaz had been wounded, bled, made to suffer. The source of this suffering was still hidden, but the God of Blood could smell his Thirdfather's blood somewhere deep in the land.

He was, for the first time, unsure.

Tentatively, he joined Zakaz at the Shard.

"Thirdfather, I can feel the depths of your pain. I smell your blood soaking the land. Give your pain to me, and become what you once were again. Be as you are meant to be." Therien exposed his throat to the Father of Predators.

Zakaz does not respond. He is there. Felt, but not seen. An echo of himself pulses from the Shard and Therien realizes that this may be tougher than he expected.

Infusing vestige into the Shard as it seems to fit what I'm going for. 5ap spent. Zakaz is more walking around with 90 hp.

Throughout their journey, Tissari remained unrelentingly positive, even as Therien refused to save himself. She eventually released the two of them from her own binding, concluding that although, yes, Therien was a brat, that didn't mean he didn't have a right to his own nature.

But when Zakaz reappears, Tissari is instantly at his side, fiery tears streaking from her eyes. "Hey, big guy," she begins. "I... You know, generally, this is where I'd go off on some amusing tangent, or crack a joke. But... you're not in the best place for that right now, are you?" Tissari looks to the path that Zakaz has made to the Shard, a trail of blight and corruption ending only within the Shard's protective energies. "Something terrible happened. Something that none of us can describe, can feel, can even relate to." She sighs. "But we're here for you. Therien is here for you. The others will come, in time. Hopefully. Just... remember that you're not alone, Zakaz. We don't know your pain, though we can help you bear it if you let us." Tissari's eyes flash dangerously. "And I can bring the one who did this to justice."

A shard of herself appears in a flash of fiery light on Zakaz's trail, wearing her full battle gear. Something about this shard seems different. Dangerous and determined and full of righteous fury, Tissari sets off to find Shess.

***

And, in the first human settlement, Tissari appears as well, before the mass of humanity, the few irtara, and the two Cull. "Hey," she begins, then sighs. "Apedemak is normally the one to do all of these fancy speeches and whatnot. He's not here, though, which is part of the problem."

"Look! I'm not saying he's abandoned you. Not at all. It's just we don't know where he is, and the world... the world is becoming a dangerous place, as you've probably noticed."

"Oh. Um, oops. Forgot to introduce myself. I'm Tissari, I'm a goddess, blah blah blah. Anyways, moving on. The world has become a dangerous place. Blood cultists. Erinae, or whatever you call them. Vampires, I think. Creatures are becoming more and more vicious. And even the Cull is having trouble. Proud of you, by the way, for, you know, making allies with them. But it needs to be more than that. You need to protect yourselves, and each other."

"The irtara are on the verge of getting down here. Within the next few months, at most. No, not your irtara. The other ones, on the moon. You'll need to protect them, and they will protect you. Only through cooperation and a united front will you be able to stand against all the darkness this planet has begun to create."

"So I'm officially asking you all to work together. To be each other shields. To be a light for everybody in this time of night."

"Hm. I like that. The Lightshields."

Spending 2 AP to create the Lightshields, a military order composed of members of all three species dedicated to protecting all those who can't protect themselves.

Hmmmn.. he's not here." Therien moves low to the ground, sniffing about for the lost god's blood. Putting himself in touch with the beast in his blood, he catches the scent of his Thirdfather's pain and blood. Moving at the speed of light and heat, he follows the scent.

Tissari almost immediately finds out why it's bad to take a wounded predator by surprise. He wheels and swipes in her general direction, leveling a mountain in the process. His roar of defiance shakes the trees all around. His silver-blue eyes that usually burn with life are flickering and sputtering.

"He is close to death." Without warning, Azrael steps from the nothingness behind Therein and Tissari. The young god seems more powerful, his presence already more imposing than their last meeting. "I can feel his essence, teetering on the brink, reaching out to me; it cries out in suffering, but I cannot tell where. It's shrouded from me." He crouches down and feels the earth with a pale hand, and rubs the dirt between his fingers. "He's down there, somewhere."

Ok, we have some confusion
Zakaz is at full health, though he did come choose to death many times and that could have alerted Azrael. His mind is definitely teetering though.
Also, he is currently on the surface, though he did loose a lot of blood underground.

Tissari flinches at Zakaz's crazed response, but takes a deep breath and moves forward. She sits down a bit away from Xakaz, legs crossed and murmurs, "It's okay, brother. I'm here. I'm here." Then, in a soft, lyrical voice, she begins singing.

Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility love and trust
Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility love and trust

Here comes a memory
That might alarm you
What someone did
And how it harmed you
Things that you've done
That you don't want to remember
All of those years are
Suddenly swarming

And oh,
You're losing sight
You're losing touch
All of these things seem to matter so much
That they confuse you

That I might lose you

Take a moment to remind yourself
To take a moment to find yourself
Take a moment to ask yourself
If this is how you fall apart

But it's not
But it's not
But it's not
But it's not
But it's not

It's okay
It's okay
It's okay
It's okay
It's okay

You've got nothing
Got nothing
Got nothing
Got nothing to fear

I'm here
I'm here
I'm here

And it was just a memory
Just a memory
Just a memory
Just a memory
Just a memory

It's okay
It's okay
It's okay
It's okay
It's okay

We can watch
We can watch
We can watch
We can watch them go by

From here
From here
From here

Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility love and trust
Take a moment to think of just
Flexibility love and trust

End lyrics.

Tissari gently places a hand on Zakaz's paw. "You are Zakaz, Lord of Beasts, Protector of Nature, the Wild Incarnate, and creator of this very world we sit upon. Nothing and no one can take that away from you."

Therien steps forward again to make his offer.

"Thirdfather, I can feel the depths of your pain. I smell your blood soaking the land. Give your pain to me, and become what you once were again. Be as you are meant to be. For, I was born of your blood and pain, and will find a way to bear it, or willingly succumb to it in order to restore you." He stands near, his posture on of submission, but ready to place himself between Zakaz and the others should he lash out.

Zakaz does not kill Tissari during her song, but it seems to be a close thing. As she and Therien speak, his eyes seem to light up again, but then he staggers under some unimaginable pain from an unseen source and his conscious mind is once again buried. His eyes die, leaving two pits like the cores of twin black holes.

1d7 ⇒ 6
Why yes, I am rolling to see how many dice go in each pool :)
For this round, Zakaz's dice are 6 attack/1 defence

attack Therien: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 1, 6, 4) = 21
Therien defence: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) = 14

Zakaz lashes out at the Plasma lord. Even though the god was on his toes and ready, the Beastfather's stike is faster and his claws rip into the plasma god.
[ooc]I think you two get one round of combat with the dice as they are there before they change.[/dice]

"Yes Zakaz," echoes in Zakaz's mind, "these are those who would destroy your Cull. Those who would challenge and encroach on your domain of life."

The flaming bird searches for the gods' conflict. A precious gift in its claws.

As Zakaz's claws rip into him, Therien's fiery blood sprays across the land, setting anything it touches ablaze. In the midst of the assault, Therien reaches out, grabbing a particularly volatile stream of blood as it flies through the air. As he grabs it, it remains intact, a whip formed of fire and blood and pain.

4 AP: Create Relic: (Thanks Zakaz) Hemolash, the blood whip. Made of Therien's blood, it is a weapon of living plasma, with fiery barbs and crackling with energy. +1 Att.

"We must subdue him before he destroys this place, erasing what he has made." Therien lashes out with the whip, attempting to keep the Lord of Beats' attention firmly on himself.

Tissari intercedes herself between Zakaz and Therien, her eyes pleading. "Go, Therien!" she pleads. "There was something of him in there. If we attack him, it'll only strengthen the hold of whoever is controlling him!"

For the entirety of this combat, Tissari will only roll her defense dice, and will refuse to attack Zakaz.

***

When Tissari reaches Shess' domain, however, she is not nearly as merciful.

Following the trail of blood and blight, Tissari eventually climbs down into the central chamber of the labyrinth, fully bedecked in her armor. She wastes no time with pithy wordplay, doesn't even try to get Shess to see what he's done. Tissari could feel herself full of righteous fury.

3 AP to gain Justice (Righteousness) as a domain.

Without warning, she attacks, the Heart of Storms manifesting as a huge warhammer that she uses to strike Shess.

Tissari Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 5, 5, 6) = 23

Shess Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 2, 4, 5) = 17
Tissari Defense: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 1) = 9

Tissari Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 4, 2, 1) = 23
Shess Defense: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Tissari, I don't know that we actually have any way to get down to Shess or know exactly where he is. Also, thanks to relics and such I believe his defense is 4d6.

Zakaz left a trail of blood and corruption on the way to the Shard, and I was checking his profile for stats.

Oh, so we can find him. Okay. Also, his stats on the profile are incorrect according to his fight with Zakaz. I believe his attack is still 6d6 as Zakaz has the dagger?

"Idiot goddess, whatever is controlling him will use him to destroy you. Huh. Maybe I should sit back and let that happen. Then, once we're subdued and restored hin, I can ask what you tasted like.". Therien looks to Azrael. "Help me, cousin. He has been enchanted as well as ensorcelled."

Lesser Goddess | 6 AP | Attack 6d6, Defense 4d6, HP 40/40 | Domains: Creativity (technology), Passion (invention), Magic (magery), Knowledge (science)

Disregard the second part of my post. Sorry for the confusion. Maybe going forward, we should confirm that both gods want to fight via PM or Discussion so this confusion doesn't happen again.

Azrael's form roils under his cloak and Zakaz is struck on all sides by his unknowable power. "We will break him from his chains and free him from his prison, cousin." After his blast of power Zakaz lashes out, but Azrael's billowing cloak throws him backward with the force of a thousand winds; the beast god's claws dig into his godly flesh, but with nowhere near the power they might have had otherwise. "Tissari! His defeat is necessary to save him from whatever has done this to him. If you want to help Zakaz, you will help us."

Azrael; Attack: 8d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 5, 1, 5, 4, 1) = 29

Azrael; Defense: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 1) = 17
Zakaz; Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 3, 5, 3) = 27

5 AP to Infuse Vestige (Monument)
5 AP to Gain Ability (Inconceivable)

Nothing in the rules I can find states that Inconceivable can't lower Defense to 0, and since Zakaz only has 1 die invested in Defense he would get nothing to protect him from my attack.

Also, by my count, Zakaz has taken 46 damage from me and Therein so far.

Zakaz takes an absolutely brutal beating from the two younger gods. The combined blows would have been more than enough to crumple most other gods into nothing, but Zakaz was not most gods. He retreats momentarily and an inky blackness seeps from his wounds. It flows over his head, shoulders, and underbelly where it hardens into kind of maddening armor. It's form is as if pain itself seeped from him and took physical form. It is spiked all around and glistens in Therein's firey light. The helmet in particular seems to block off the ears and eyes and from is looks it screams "Crown of Suffering".

In an effort to even the odds, Zakaz creates two Relics, the Armor of a Tortured Soul and the Crown of Suffering, both adding to defence. 8ap total.

He then charges back in, somehow becoming larger as he does so! The best that arrives back to the battle is massive even by the god's standards. The Planet he created nearly cracks under his weight, threatening even Lortimas's domain deep underground with exposure to the comparatively cold surface!
I spend my remaining 3 ap to gain the Madness (torture) domain and ascend to Intermediate diety!
Now if I'm not defeated and removed from this planet I'll probably destroy it via my mere presence. :)

let's roll!: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Ok, here we go! Zakaz's current dice spread is 3/6
Zakaz attacks Therein: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) = 14

That's 2 points.
Zakaz has 44 hp remaining with 6 defence dice

"His instincts are as sharp as ever <grunt> as are his claws." Therien bleeds smoke and heat, burning the lands near the battle.

He lashes out once more.

Therien Attack 7d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 3, 2, 2, 1) = 23
Zakaz Defense6d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 3, 2, 1) = 18

The flaming bird finally finds the place where Therien blasted the lands with heat, and where the crack in the planet's surface penetrated almost unto the Abyss itself. It surveys the battle, but fails to understand. So it seeks out Tissari.

"Greetings, earth-blood-mother." The whisper of its voice crackling and roaring as a great bonfire. "What goes on here?"

Tissari, for her part, steps back from the battle as Zakaz's power begins to shred the reality of the Prime to pieces. "Lortimas! Pleasure to see you, even under these... unfortunate circumstances." She grimaces. "A little while ago, some unknown god took Zakaz here captive, and turned him into... this. I'm working on a way to fix it right now. If we don't find a way to seal him away, the whole world may be destroyed."

Lortimas can see glowing orange plans lighting up around Tissari as she frantically sketches out some new creation that may be able to save both Zakaz and the world that he worked so hard to create.

"I have a plan!" Tissari yells over the clangor of battle. "Keep Zakaz off me, but don't harm him! This will be difficult enough as it is, and I don't want to be stuck in a void if you knock him out!"

"Tissari!" Azrael calls, buffeting the beast god back yet again with his cloak. A thin line is scratched along his mask by one of Zakaz's claws, but Azrael fends him off with relative ease for the time being. "You need to work quickly, do you understand? We can only handle this for so long." He thrusts out a hand and grips Zakaz with his unseen strength, ripping him off the ground and crushing him in his grip. "Work quickly, or all your precious creations will die beneath his feet."

With a grun of effort, Azrael thrusts forward and throws Zakaz into a mountain. He straightens up, again shrouded in his cloak, and laughs. "Come and face me, beast god."

The pair of gods deliver a smack down that could go down in the annals of the gods if there was such a thing. Most gods would have died twice under the destructive power brought to bear against Zakaz and his unnatural armor.

But still he stood.

And still he grew.

Storms from displaced air now swirled around his shoulders and his claws dug great canyons in the earth. His roar shook the sea and every living thing fled from his wrath. His blood drips from his many wounds and from those drips creatures of torture and nightmare spawn.

Zakaz's head snaps toward the god of death. His eyes hold a death that could make even Death shiver. Suddenly Zakaz pounces! His Starlight claws dig into Azrael's back as his rear claws rend at his midsection!

"Fall, Zakaz, that you may rise again whole!"

Therien whips at the Beastfather as he turns his back upon the Sungod.

Therien Offense 7d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 4, 4, 4, 6) = 30
Zakaz Defense 1d6 ⇒ 4

The whip tears into his flesh, leaving smoking craters as its impacts rip chunks of armor and flesh alike. Therien, bathed in the blood of his Thirdfather, heaves a sigh of relief as the progenitor beast finally succumbs to the onslaught.

He spies the offending dagger, pulling it from Zakaz's flesh.

"Mom! Dad! It's evil! Don't touch it!"

Azrael grips Zakaz by the throat as the beast god pounces on him. The claws rend into him deeply but Azrael does not falter, his hands wrapping around Zakaz's neck. The beast god feels pressure building from every direction as Azrael's grip tightens still, before he lifts Zakaz into the air. "You have fought well, Zakaz, but death comes for all things. The soul of a god is mighty but it is mine to judge all the same. Perhaps your next form will be spared the suffering of the first." With great effort, Azrael lifts the massive panther into the air and brings them both to The Shallows, to his domain and seat of his power. He stands, one hand clenched around the panther's throat, above the pool of silver soul-stuff at the feet of his throne. "It is time to end this." Azrael throws Zakaz down into the pool, holding the massive form beneath him until he lie still.

When Therein grabs the dagger, Azrael, bleeding divine ichor from his wounds, narrows his eyes beneath the mask. "The dagger is mine, cousin, for what is is worth. I fear our actions may have consequences we cannot foresee."

Attack; Azrael: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 2, 3, 1, 4, 2) = 25

"You placed this dagger with the Thirdfather?" Therien asks, angry and misunderstanding. "To steal his soul?"

Therien Attack Dice 9d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6, 6, 6, 3, 6, 4) = 39
Azrael Defense Dice4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 3) = 10

Therien tears into Azrael, whip and dagger flying. The dagger absorbs the Soul of Death, creating a world-ending paradox.

Or, not, whatever :P

"HAHAHAhaha.....!! Perfect! Perfect! Hahahaha...!!" Shess' laughter booms once more throughout the Great Labyrinth. The laughter is soon muffled as the shadowy silhouette enters the holes of the cube.
