FRIAR O'GRADY

A portly friar with black hair cut in a cleric's tonsure, Friar O'Grady is a hale and hearty fellow, devoted to the Scriptures but enjoying a mug of ale now and then. He wears his brown clerical vestments over scale mail armor and carries a morningstar discretely under his robes.

Of Ulfen/Taldan descent, Wilfred O'Grady hails from the port city of Augustana in Andoran. He has devoted his life to the goddess Desna, and is a member of the Monastery of St. Benedictine where he serves as a curtal friar.

As our story begins, Friar O'Grady is traveling to the small village of Saltmarsh, where he serves as a circuit priest. He is riding aboard a mule-driven cart, which is loaded with a large tent for church services, all the needed religious accoutrements, and two barrels of sacramental wine.

I'd like to throw Tyndel Rufano of House Rufano into the mix. I had a human investigator made, only to mistime it by an hour with Misroi's submission. Thus, I've gone ahead and made a Conjurer (minus the cheap tricks?).

Does anyone know why PCGen's exporting of a character to the forum format doesn't include spells or the biography? I copied the background in by hand for now; I'll add the spell list in once I figure it out or if the character is selected.

Appearance:

Short for an Elf, he is often mistaken for a child or a female. However his pronounced ears make it certain that he never mistaken for human. Due to this he often goes about shrouded. he is a likable lovable little wizard. Given his occupation he often goes shrouded. When not on a mission or studying, however you can usually find at the local lodge drinking.

Character Backstory:

Born the son of a slave trader Roland ran away with some slaves at the age of 20. He wandered for the next 20 years living as a hedge mage. At the age of 40 he learned of Liberties Edge. He spent the next 10 years of his life searching for a way to join. One faithful night after drinking way to much he was throwing up in an ally, where he witnesssed a group of thugs attempt to assault a gnome. Inebriated and infuriated Roland zapped the saving the gnome. As it turned out this gnome new the secrets of gunsmithing and offered to teach it to Roland.

Appearance:

Tall dark and handsome with green eyes . Lithe and wiry, he has the appearance of a teenage boy, some would say even a girl.

Personality:

Highly intelligent, braggart and mediocre wisdom. He often makes jokes to break the tension. Although His intelligence does make him slightly Arrogant it does not completely blind him to feeling of others.

Character Backstory:

Born to a hedge wizard and a runaway elven lady, jakel was raised to magic and nobility. Never strong enough to truly compete with the other boys he subsidized his weakness with magic. Upon reaching his majority he was urged to go the academy, but he instead struck out on his own to become a caravan guard.

Okay, it was a tough decision, but I've found the party. First, I want to say that I believe there is no such thing as a "bad character." You lot have proven that. All the submissions were great and if I could, I would take all of you, but my schedule just won't permit me to run three groups. There were some very interesting characters presented, and it would be a pleasure to have adventured with any of them. We are looking for a replacement for our priest. If anyone is interested, please speak up.

On the border between Andor and Cheliax, there lies a small town called Saltmarsh. Nearby are said to lie the ruins of an abandoned stronghold. Those of an adventuring mind might find riches and glory therein, it is said. They might also find only death.

Characters begin at 1st level. They will eventually reach 10th level (with the possibility of continuing past that point if desired).

  • 20 point buy
  • No 3rd party materials
  • Characters may be of any race, subject to the rule above about 3rd party materials
  • Start with 150 gp to buy gear
  • No evil alignments because I said so
  • Two traits
  • Begin with maximum hit points. After that, you will take the average (just as for PFS play)

You do not have to write a lengthy background, but please offer at least a few sentences as to where you are from, how you came to Saltmarsh, and a description of your character.

This prolonged adventure path will play through a revised B1 In Search of the Unknown, the Saltmarsh trilogy, and will culminate in an assault on the Caverns of Chaos. Be warned, however, that not all is what it seems, and several alterations to the originals have been made to preserve a sense of surprise.

Pace is not very fast. My life is very busy and I tend to try to post every other day, at a minimum (except weekends). However, my wife is 90% blind and I am her eyes, so it doesn't always work out that way. Yes, we are looking for a divine type (our missing player was a cleric, and they are without one).
