Angel's AC: 22. Angel's HP: 16/26 since he drank a Cure light wounds potion from Antonella.
Angel approaches Antonella hand her a wand, "Paladin, this is Banquo's wand of Cure Light Wounds. Would you be so kind to bestow it's magic on me?"
Banquo chimes in, "Oh, and some of that endure elements too if you are willing."
Afterward, Banquo uses his masterwork dagger to hack away at some ice. Angel joins with his magical slams.

“Of Course!” Antonella heals up the eidolon before tapping the pair with endure elements.
"People have called me mercurial …"
“I can believe that.” The paladin smiles.
“Banquo, would the origins of the word 'mercurial' come from the character Mercutio in the play Gnomeo and Juliet?”

"More likely they both come from the same source. But it's all Greek to me."

The sloped tunnel is slippery, but after a long curve it suddenly opens into another cave at the rear deck of a ship. More braziers keep the worst of the cold at bay, but a wall of solid ice blocks access to the foredeck. A large drum stands on the deck, and behind it is a trapdoor leading into the hold.

The smell of death and rot fills this lower deck, even with the cold. It is darker down here without the sunlight filtering through the ice, and no braziers burn. Shadowy movements are visible in the darkness, accompanied by an eerie creaking noise as though someone were still working the oars. A figure moves toward you along the aisle between the rowing benches. It appears to be a withered human wearing an Ulfen burial mask, it's eyes glow an eerie red. Four zombies pull uselessly at the frozen oars. The icy air carefully preserved their rotting flesh.
As the group presses forward through the undead hold of the ship, the undead in the burial mask turns and roars at them. The undead Ulfen warriors roil to their feet and it is clear that they are going to attack.

What little blood it had left begins to melt a small portion of the ice. Frost attempts the same manuever and ends up tripping on the wooden bench and nearly drops his sword.
With a scream the red eyed man strides forward and attempts to slam a heavy mailed fist into Isabella. Quickly spinning around she parry's his blow away, leaving the creature wide open as she slashes chunk of fleshy ice off of it's head.

Finding no traps you climb up the ladder to the deck of the ship. The soft glow of sunlight again penetrates into this ice cave, and several braziers burn near the walls. A beautiful woman stands next to a simple chair, facing you. Other furniture in the chamber suggests that this is her private quarters. The woman looks you over as though judging a draft animal, and asks, “Have you come to work the oars? I am in need of more rowers.”

Cirri drinks one of the potions of resist energy before proceeding.

The woman smiles as she looks at each of you in turn. Her eyes lock on the lantern that you carry and she smiles. It seems that you have returned my lantern to me. I thank you. Set it on the table here. She says motioning next to her.
My name is Natalya Yagevna, widow of Haldyr Bjornsson. Five weeks ago Skelg the Ripper raided my late husband's funerary ship and saved my life as I was due to be sacrificed along with Haldyr. Skelg raided the ship and left me with my dowry. She says as she motions to the vessel that we stand on.
Haldyr's son, Bengeirr, heard word of this and must have followed Skelg to get revenge.
I can help you with your curse, but I require something in return. If I am to return to my home in Irrisen then I require a suitable mate and the beacon returned to my possession. I can say that I would make it worth your while as you would be treated as royalty in Irrisen... entices the woman.
Cirri Merryweather
|
Cirri blushes at the woman's offer. "Um...we just need a cure for the lantern's extreme cold. Bengeirr hit Skelg with the lantern and now he's freezing! Could you help him out a little?"
Cirri scratches the back of her neck. "There are plenty of guys outside of the ship, though. Maybe you could leave, find a mate and then return home?"
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19

Knowledge(Geography): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Does she really need the lantern and a mate before returning home? Is this one of those honor things? Would she really be treated as royalty?
GM Tyranius

Cirri believes it to be a great deal of honor for Natalya as the woman cocks her head to the side slightly at Frost's offer, as if in thought.
Hmm. Skelg would make for an ideal mate. he did save me and by the laws of the north my captor and lord. I have no desire to leave this ship unless it is to my home in Irrisen. Bring Skelg to my ship so we may discuss this further.

“My Lady, we shall need the Beacon in order to return with Your Lord Skelg for the pre-nuptial arrangements.” The monk bows respectfully to the Jadwiga. “If the Ripper agrees to your terms, we could present the Beacon to you both as a Wedding Gift before we return home.”
Antonella turns to the others. “The Big Bearded Boss Captain said we didn’t actually need to keep the Beacon of the North. We just had to find out as much as we could about it.”
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Natalya nods her head in agreement as she sits back at her desk, looking over sea charts and a decent sized tome. Then you had better hurry before Skelg freezes to death.
From what Antonella can tell Natalya is being sincere and truthful.
