Running a small local con at the Jet City Comic Show Saturday and Sunday, so my posts over the weekend will likely be short and sweet, lacking my usual excessive verbosity.
Prophet of the Purifying Flame
|
I've arrived, and I do have some internet. I'm not sure if it was just the recent site issues or my location, but have had a lot of trouble.
This is one of my first times getting on at all. There is a strong possibility I will be away from internet for the next 3-5 days.
Lurgh

FYI
I will be at a training course all day tomorrow and will probably not have any time to post.

I know we still have a week to go before the end of Gameday, but I'm going to roll for the boons now. There is still one more part after this combat, but it's really just RP and should go fairly quick.
Glen Fiddich: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Prophet: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Guang: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Lurgh: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Milo: 1d20 ⇒ 9
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Also, I did send a PM to Prophet to check if he will be able to continue with the last part or if he'll have to bow out due to the deployment. If it comes to it, and he does have to back out, do the rest of you want me to try to find another player, or just roll with the 4 of you? I have not had a chance to read through it yet, so I really don't have a feel for the difficulty of it.

Hopefully, we can get the Prophet back.
But the scenarios were designed for four players, so I'm okay with rolling with what we've got.
GM Turmoil
|
So I did hear back from Prophet, today was the first time he was able to get online again since his last post over a week ago. He really doesn't foresee his access to internet to become more frequent, so he won't be joining us for the last part. Again, I'm fine running it with just the four of you or I can try to find another if any of you prefer.
Going to roll your day job checks for this scenario based on your previous posts from part one, so I can get the chronicles made.
Milo, Craft Alchemy: 1d20 + 18 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 18 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 44
Lurgh, Profession Fisherman: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Glen, Heal: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
Prophet, Heal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Chronicles are finished, you can find them HERE, and I've already reported the scenario.
Once we finish this last little bit, I'll give everyone a few days to make any purchases they want and I'll probably kick off the next one this weekend or Monday. I don't expecting a high posting rate over next week though due to the holiday.
As for replacing Prophet, only Glen has chimed in so far, and I really don't care what you all decide. I did get a chance to read over the next part, and I will say some of the combats look like they could be challenging, so make sure you come well prepared. They are the type of encounters where a couple of unlucky rolls could certainly turn deadly.

Glen advances to Inquisitor 9. Yay!
I'm swamped with reporting the PbP Gameday VI sessions to Paizo and prepping and distributing the GM and player boons.

I want to give you all a heads up that my posting may become a bit sporadic over the next month or so. Obviously the holidays are a busy time for many of us, but on top of that, I start a new job at the beginning of December and we are also in the middle of house hunting. I plan on cutting back on the number of games I play in as well, and with only four people in this one, my hope is we don't slow down too much.

Lurgh will be spending 8000 gp to upgrade his cloak of resistance from +1 to +3.

I'll post an updated PC tagline and highlights of Glen's advancement to Level 9 tomorrow morning. It's almost midnight here.

I have to say, having just played a number of the season 9 scenarios that tie into a lot of the story-arc stuff from Heresy, this is pretty fun for me, seeing how all the pieces are tying together in a cohesive whole. For those of you who get a chance, Salvation of the Sages is a fun one to play with Heresy in your character's background, though there's a number of other scenarios that have some hooks to things like Mirza as well.
I'm kind of impressed they wove it all together out of scenario roots 6 seasons ago.
Anyway, back from con. I don't think I have any big purchases for Guang but I'll check.
Guang the Enlightened

I take it back, I do have some purchases I'll get. Upgrading cloak to a +2 cloak of resistance and picking up a planar amulet of mighty fists, if these are obtainable without trouble in Manaket. Replacing antiplague and antitoxin.

Upon attaining Level 9, Glen Fiddich purchased boots of speed for 12,000gp. He took the feat "Cornugon Smash" and the inquisitor's bonus feat "Shake It Off." As his FCB, Glen took an additional 2nd level spell, See Inivisibility. He selected Coordinated Effort as his new 3rd level spell.

Thanks for pointing that out, dien. Never too old or too experienced to learn.
I'll belay all purchases except the potion of remove blindness.
Guang the Enlightened
|
If it makes you feel better I have 5 castings worth of lesser restoration on me already and I can cast daylight (aasimar).
I could drop 2 PP on the scrolls of remove curse but at this level the caster checks get kind of rough for that/low odds of success.

Yeah, Salvation of the Sages does, and also #9-04, Unseen Inclusion. To an extent I think anything from the season 9 Scarab Sages focused scenarios might-- they touch on all the Mirza background stuff you spoilered, and the Usij show up, etc.
I guess that could qualify as super light spoilers but to anyone who's already played as far as we have in Heresy it's not really.
And there's #8-16 - the name alone might be a clue, hehe. 'Refugees of the Weary Sky'

Guang can have an extended mage armor as usual.
Unfortunately I don't think using a wand to charge your ioun stone will work. The ioun stone refers to the ring of spell storing (minor) which refers to the ring of spell storing which states:
A spellcaster can cast any spells into the ring, so long as the total spell levels do not add up to more than 5. Metamagic versions of spells take up storage space equal to their spell level modified by the metamagic feat. A spellcaster can use a scroll to put a spell into the minor ring of spell storing.
No mention of wands. I've always ruled that it has to be cast directly or come from a spell-completion item, but doesn't work with a spell-trigger item. I guess we'll have to wait for the GM to give a ruling on that.
GM Turmoil
|
Hmm, I've never had this come up before and I can honestly see both sides of the argument. I'm going to go with no though, based on the fact that the spell description specifically calls out allowing scrolls, but makes no mention of wands. That leads me to believe the intent was for a PC to cast the spell, while also allowing a specific exception for scrolls as well.
No issue at all allowing you to retcon a purchase though.

Just want to encourage the team to maintain our energy level. Been sensing a waning moon last couple of weeks.
Cheer up everybody, let's have fun!

I'm still active, but I may not be able to post every day right now.
I sing in my church's choir and the Advent/Christmas seasons tend to be very busy. I'll be away from home almost this entire weekend.

I suggest we give him until January 3rd. If we don't hear from him by then, we make the call for a replacement GM. He hasn't posted at all since early December as far as I can tell.

Lurgh will be spending 8000 gp to upgrade his cloak of resistance from +1 to +3.
Just noticed an error.
I had upgraded my cloak from +1 to +2 HERE but apparently recorded it incorrectly on my character sheet.
So I only needed to spend 5000 gp for the upgrade. It also means I had to fix my save bonuses as they were too high.
