Glaurung has a UMD of +7 so she couldn't T10 and would have to roll, which is risky.

![]() |

Stuff to heal ability damage?
Nope; it'd've been on the table after encounter 1 if I did.
I can contribute by carrying Amira's body, that's about it.
If some of the bars can be handled extradimensionally... Toshi shakes his head at the idea. "It is fine, Gannus-san. I can handle the unconscious Amira. However, this is a good thing that the disc is continuing to follow. She also, if necessary, was many parts of the gear that might be useful for you all."

![]() |

"Už jsem vám řekl, co chci."
"Well, Vinst, what are you doing in this place? Tell us about yourselves. We're here to rescue some elves, perhaps you've seen them or heard about them? They were taken by a demon named Fihralz or something like that."
New Diplomacy? I rolled one above already.

GM Tektite |

I am going to make this the somewhat cliff note version.
Vinst eyes glow red as he turns at Gannus' comment. Watch yourself boy, with me you don't toy... He then turns to Glaurung, eyeing her with hungry eyes. I desire nothing more than lively conversation and...company.
After some coy words, the satyr and gnome disappear behind one of the standing stones (since five feet away from the circle is the tainted swamp) and the party is subjected to an uncomfortable twenty minutes. After having taken one for the team, so to speak, Gluarung reemerges followed by a grinning Vinst. Well that is what I consider good company! He says with a grin, then touches a rune on his hide armor, causing a full grown bear to appear. Meet Brouce! He isn't much for conversation and certainly can't offer the company your wee gnome has! Now what can ol' Vinst do to help you folks? Your friendly gnome here explained that you are heading to see terrible Fihralaz! I can tell you how to get there and I may be able to heal some of your wounds. He glances at Amira. She's a lively one ain't she?
Vinst has a CLW, a CMW, and a Lesser Restoration prepared that he would be willing to cast..

Taking the metaphorical initiative.
1d4 ⇒ 2
Amira, now not at 2 strength, awakens with an incredible soreness. "Uuuugh... what's... what's going on?"

![]() |

Amira looks to the creature while getting up. "What did you use? I am, by the rights of Abadar, required to reimburse you for your services." She looks around at the forest. "I'm going to assume you don't have a Branch around here to cash a money request?"
Kn to ID: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Assuming nature, but is apparently still delirious from getting knocked out, so never mind!
"I really need to teach Toshi proper syntax for describing things. I have no clue where he got the word 'love' in there from..."

![]() |

Another tale you'll have to tell now, Glaurung. LOL
And I loved the "uncomfortable twenty minutes" remark, GM. :-)
Many thanks for helping us in an hour of need, Vinst. We would indeed be grateful for some guidance in finding Fihralaz.

![]() |

convinced
Flatly: "Superb."
She returns to speaking with the unidentified creature. "Agreed. While I am grateful for the magical aid, I am far more comfortable in the city and would like to return as soon as possible."
Diplomacy, also if needed, I suppose, Trade Domain Power: 1d20 + 22 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 22 + 5 = 31

![]() |

Glaurung walks out from the behind the stone straightening her robes and detracting her claws. Only twenty minutes? Is that all he's got? This boy's an amateur. I was only getting warmed up.
Walking away, Glaurung seems inordinately obstinate that she walk behind Gannus.

GM Tektite |

Vinst gives the party directions for the most direct route to the demon's lair. Watch out for that Fihralaz, he's a mean old cur, even for a demon. I hear that his lair is almost all swamp and is infested with leech swarms and other foul critters. Be careful if you do nothing else. He bids the party farewell, while trying to extract a promise from Glaurung to return and visit with him again.
Once again healed and somewhat patched up, the party delves into the "Briar" again and after an hours time, come to the place indicated by the elves' directions.
The damp yet firm ground of Tanglebriar gradually descends toward expanses of standing water. Although suspended sediment and matted heaps of decaying plant material obscure the swamp’s bottom, trees and reeds are still numerous here, suggesting the water cannot be terribly deep. In places, concentrations of plants have trapped silt and organic matter to create miniature islands amid the dark expanse of water.

Edging closer to the swamp, the party sees an immense slab of rock covered in algae and lichen protrudes through the suffocating canopy of leaves. The trees that grow near it sway intermittently as if pushed by a strong wind, but the movement is actually caused by the convulsions of a half dozen four-foot-long chrysalises of gooey, gray silk that hang from the tree boughs. Hanging from other branches are pieces of elven armor, broken weapons, and other trophies from battlefields. Several mementoes are still slick with partially congealed blood and buzzing with flies. Samhain and Hawthorne notice a shape in the swamp that looks rather ominous, perhaps like a hiding demon...and suddenly it moves in the water, standing and bellowing at the party!

A square that is part of a deep bog has roughly 4 feet of standing water. It costs Medium or larger creatures 4 squares of movement to move into a square with a deep bog, or characters can swim if they wish. Small or smaller creatures must swim to move through a deep bog. Tumbling is impossible in a deep bog.
The water in a deep bog provides cover for Medium or larger creatures. Smaller creatures gain improved cover (+8 bonus to AC, +4 bonus on Reflex saves). Medium or larger creatures can crouch as a move action to gain this improved cover. Creatures with this improved cover take a –10 penalty on attacks against creatures that aren't underwater.

Hawthorne- 5 pts
Gannus- 10 pts
Samhain- 10 pts
NO one is slowed!
