Notably, I have 3 ideas in my "characters I-really-want-to-play-of-the-week" category, in order from highest to lowest priority:

  • A TWF Achektek Cavalier of the Star (who pretends to not be of any religion, then a backup cover of Norgorber)
  • The stock "Super-Strength Barbarian/Alchemist/2handed fighter
  • Theologan Fire Cleric (whom is built entirely from my Dragon's Dogma pawn)

Any of those would be built from a 1-credit (Master of the Fallen FortresS) character rebuild from, like, 3 friggen years ago who is totally worthless now aside from his grandfathered-in MW double weapon.

    Alternatively, I have:

  • Boring 5th level Zen Archer (Elf monk who reveres natural concepts and is generally socially inept. Very intentionally low-gear and slow-to-learn.)
  • 2nd level ninja (huge jerk who throws ninja stars and will be going 100% fighter levels later for maximum shuriken power)
  • 3rd sub-par Unarmed (but still uses a polearm) fighter (5 Cha tiefling, build from the boon, going Shadowdancer later)
  • 2nd level Butler (Bard, built around buffing and being a stuffy, Taldan butler for life, thanks to an ancient tribe-wide pact with Ugarotha to not be killed by the Army of Exploration of the time)

  • I have the following

    - 5th level knowledge/melee Nethys cleric
    - 3rd level Aasimar archer cleric
    - 3rd level Support/Archer bard
    - 2nd level Fire Sorceress
    - 2nd level Damage dealing CAD
    - 1st level mass healing life oracle
    - 1st level Treesinger Druid

Willing to play any, would really prefer to keep the 5th free for Dragoncon though so I still have a character at each tier.

So we are running 1-2 on this?

Well, since it looks like we are playing levels 1-2, I'll bring my rogue to the party.

I do. I asked my first table at GenCon, then forgot about it the rest of the weekend. I think I'd like to use it on Ezrek, just for the alchemical flavor.

Decided that the Emerald Elixir boon is best used on Tsusuko, who can become a new color (once he's insane again, of course.)

If we've got ranged damage, a rogue (skill build?), and a monk/pally, I think I'm gonna go with supermelee, son of our local original superfighter (whom I need to confirm a few backstory details, but is good to go mechanically). Opting out of the cavalier for the sole fact that "Animal Tricks are hard to figure out, but melee rage power attack 2handing is not." Locking in this decision, because I never fully decide on things early enough (and don't mind this guy being stuck in a game for Con-Time.)

Well, if we are doing 1-2, probably going to go with the treesinger or oracle. Leaning towards treesinger, oracle definitely needs a bit of a rework. Any preference?

Ha, a letter-based intro. I even considered being a True Primitive barbarian before this, which would have made that funny. Then I remembered Corb will have a Formula Book within the next two levels, which would be kinda weird if I couldn't read (though wasn't actually illegal.)

Will put up my character tonight. Was fairly busy over the weekend entertaining others so I couldn't convert my character yet.

I know that feeling. I will be leaving for Dragoncon Thursday morning this week, so I will not be on here to post for a few days myself starting then.

    To put some perspective for Corb, a little bit of backstory and how he was thought up;

I once attended a public game-day at a game store nearby at which there was a non-boon max Strength Barbarian/Alch player who put the idea in my head (like so many ideas are.) Time skip to within the next month or so, and me and a buddy were discussing about making "Children of Existing, high-level characters for Shattered Star" (and Fire Emblem 13 had a big part in solidifying my interest in the idea.)

Later, when the call for a new 1st level, I figured Brute Squad needs to stay true to form and who better to play in such a squad than the son of Jean (the Gorumite 2h Fighter who was our massive damage source in our pseudo-retired PFS character set. 16 AC isn't very good, but if everything you hit dies, it doesn't really matter. Especially if the crazy Taldan is jumping in the way of the first hit each round.)

Now, Jean was atypical in that Cha was dumped, but Int was at +1 or +2 and took at least a knowledge a level. This Cha penalty was defined in that she rarely did anything conversational-based (faction missions, introducing herself to anyone, idle conversation.) So, I got to over-thinking like I tend to do, and decided that her son would be my ideology of what a Gorumite should be; Loud, Direct, and Mighty. I thought about how one could attain that mentality, and thus, Corb was born as he is now. Whether he's Jean's real son or not, nobody knows; she'd never tell him either way and mainly only silently trained the boy in strength, strategy, and camaraderie.

  • Too bad about the race boon, at least you had a great time I assume? What did you end up playing?

On a completely different tangent- has anyone noticed this thread?

I was thinking of doing a big recruitment, trying to get enough GM's and players to play most of these, as a way to bring more attention to PbP's. I know this compliments Feral's ideas, pertaining to his low-level thread remark earlier today/last night. I was going to send a message to VC Joe Caubo, because I think PbP's have been neglected so far, which I have mentioned to him before.

So my thought would be to have everyone start at a designated time and have a sort of race to the finish. I'd be willing to put up some sort of prize, maybe one of my GenCon boons and purchase the pdf for the entire winning PbP. I don't know, just bouncing the idea off you guys. Let me know your thoughts, because we'll have to start it soonish, like tomorrow/Wed.

I know Feral just ran Hydra's Fang and I've run most of the 1-5 in the last couple months.
