Rafael Sebjorn |
With everyone intently watching him make his costume, Rafael feels the pressure. 'Come on man, hurry it up, they're all waiting on you..
Kirin Quetzal |
Kirin walks around the house coming back around to all-costumed-up Rafael and whispers "I don't see anyone in the first level, but let's try this." Kirin stands in position around the corner and waits for Rafael to knock on the door.
GM.Silbeg |
Are you all going to take 1d3*10 minutes for the costume to be set up?
Ehr'lynd Hûraegon |
Ehr'lynd gives another whistle to his colleagues, points to the window, and slips inside from the rooftop hoping that by going inside everybody takes a hint and stops wasting time.
He looks around carefully, moves up to the door, and listens.
GM.Silbeg |
Moved Rafael to back of building again - as he is still working on the costume, having only taken a couple of minutes so far. He will be done in about 18 minutes, he guesses.
Ehr'lynd disappears into the window after whistling for the team. Of course, they are all perched behind the building, but hear his call.
Please wait a little bit to see if anyone reacts to your whistle.
Rafael Sebjorn |
Rafael stops his costume making when he hears the whistle. Using the same pile of boxes he tries to get a running jump up to the roof.
Rafael Sebjorn |
"Ahoy!" Rafael nabs the coil of rope on his way by, throwing it over his head and arm.
Idris Mael |
Idris scowls as he looks up.
Perfectly good front door to break in...
Celeste Azuri |
"Idris, I know of your love for a good door breaking, but the front door is slightly ajar. That is a clue! A clue that someone wants us to go in! Besides, who is dumb enough to not just walk, roll, hop out the front if you are here against your will? Hmm?"
Celeste taps Idris on the head while winking and nodding at him.
"Yarr! Rafael! Batten down the hatches and clear the gangplank, Celeste is coming a board!"
Celeste starts climbing the rope as soon as Rafael lets it down.
GM.Silbeg |
Given some time, the group climbs up the side of the building (if you are not climbing, please let me know. I assume you'll be taking 10 on the climbs)
When everyone agrees that they are climbing up, or entering in another way, I'll move forward. You may want to open the door, and move out, since then everyone can make it up...
Kirin Quetzal |
Kirin shrugs, then follows the group. Still doing what she can to see if there is anything magical inside.
Kali Sung |
Kali looks at the rope, shakes her head, then looks to Celeste. She whispers "I'll take the bait, back me up from above,", then moves around to the open front door.
"In for a penny," she mutters under her breath, then casts Detect Magic and cautiously pushing the door open enough to step inside, scanning the area for anyone or anything.
GM.Silbeg |
The team moves up, and makes their way into the second story window. With assistance from the more agile members of the party, all make it up.
Kali opens the door and casts her spell (which could be easily heard by anyone in the hallway or the bedroom) She sees no one in the hallway, and there are no magical auras to be seen. To her right, she sees as stairway going downstairs (which would have been far easier to climb up!), and to her right she sees two doors, presumably to more bedrooms, and a door to the central part of the house.
GM.Silbeg |
Kali waves the team forward, but no one has yet responded. She has seen no enemies (or anyone else) up to this point.
Idris Mael |
Idris is suspicious and wary. He waits for the others to go up, then tugs on the rope, signalling that he will wait. He leans against the wall, looking for anyone that might have seen or might be watching. Non-threatening, his weapon secured, focusing on listening inside for anything that happens.
GM.Silbeg |
Rafeal opens the door to reveal...
Rafael Sebjorn |
Turning around, Rafael nods to everyone so they're ready. Then he opens the last door.
GM.Silbeg |
Rafael pushes Kali out of the way, and throws open the last door on that side of the hallway, exposing another empty bedroom.
Note, I've highlighted another door :P
Rafael Sebjorn |
Ah sorry Kali, I thought you had opened that door already and was going after the one currently highlighted!
Rafael looks to Kali and bows, "Ahem, my, er, apologies." He then walks to the last door and opens it.
GM.Silbeg |
Rafael moves over to the last door, opening it. As he does, a man who was previously hiding on the other side of the door stabs at the sailor. (See slide 7 for a larger image of him) He is a tall, thin man with dark short hair and his beard is trimmed to a small patch on his chin.

Ehr'lynd sees Rafael fall, thinking 'That could have been me. I was just going to go open that door!'
The Mordant Spire assessor moves forward, drawing his rapier as he does. Without a word, he stabs at the shadowy figure on the other side of the door. Unfortunately, the usually sure footed elf slips on the blood that the human sailor is bleeding out onto the floor, throwing off his strike.

does Kirin have line of sight? Is Ehr'Lynd still in the square by the door? - I'm going to imagine he's up a square since he slipped in blood. If I can be right where Ehr'Lynd is right now, that'd be great :) Line of sight, without being adjacent to the guy - your call GM.

"Great. Not this again..."
Frustrated, Kirin moves down the stairs closer to her and casts Daze DC14 on the rogue.
Rafael Sebjorn |
Rafael stands up in an utter daze, "What the f!*$ happened? I moved towards this door and my gut feels like a %&#* #@* **@#%# a @*&$ to the @*$&#% in a *%&# $*#*&% twice." After taking a moment he calms his sailor mouth down. "Thanks Kali."

I don't believe I ever had the chance to draw my weapon actually. I climbed in the window and just started opening doors like a madman.
Ehr'lynd Hûraegon |
Ehr'lynd yells, "Keep him alive, he's our prime suspect! Somebody see if he's been dominated or something!"
He then moves behind the ambusher and waits to help keep him contained.
Idris Mael |
Idris smirks as he sees the man come into view, yelling like a madman - obviously the one who set them up. His entire week of frustration and pent-up energy distilled to this one moment...
"Goodnight." he says simply, before growling in rage and attempting to knock the man unconscious.

Kali follows Rafael, and uses her wand again.
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Idris drops the rogue with what looks like an arm from some kind of construct.
It is about this time, when a mob -- complete with torches, pitchforks, and all -- arrives at the house that the ambush took place in. The mob, led by Ekira, are calling for blood. "Murderers! More Pathfinders! See, they've done it again!" the Pathfinders hear, as Idris looks up after clubbing the man.
Sheriff Tobias Luin follows the mob, and Ekira yells out, "Arrest these people, Sheriff! They have done it again!" She steps forward, pushing past the Ganzi, and starts casting a healing spell...
Rafael Sebjorn |
We appear to be out of combat so I'm not rolling dice.
Rafael puts away his rapier and then hobbles down the stairs. Although he's been healed, he's holding his blood soaked abdomen as if he's still bleeding and in horrible pain. "Urgg be careful while you heal him! He tried to kill me! For no reason! This has to be the murder we all seek, he's a blood thirsty lunatic!"
GM.Silbeg |
Ekira hesitates a moment, but then looks at the growing number of Pathfinders that are making their way downstairs. She also looks at the wounds, which include blood coming from the rogue's eyes, nose, and ears. "That remains to be seen. Perhaps it is more likely that you all ambushed him, in order to permanently quiet a witness?
"I shall wake him, and perhaps, then, we can start their trial, Sheriff?"
Tobias nods at this, waiting patiently to see if the Pathfinders block her from healing the downed person.
Idris Mael |
Idris scowls but steps away, motioning to the man's body as if to indicate "Go on." He crosses his arms in such a way that he is still holding his club, but is no longer threatening.
His eyes dart through the crowd to identify an escape route, if needed. So many people, so many innocent civilians, and so much distance between him, his horse, and sane lands.
Rafael Sebjorn |
Rafael leans up against a wall and wipes some of the blood off his hands and onto his pants. "Go ahead, please."
He gazes across his friends and tries to remember who ended up pocketing the letter that brought them there.
Ehr'lynd Hûraegon |
Ehr'lynd quietly puts his weapon and shield away before walking down the stairs. He comes out into the street looking quietly for the best straight-line out of town if needed. He thinks quietly, "If it comes to running, I need not be the fastest, merely not the slowest."
He looks to the sheriff, "I'd be careful trusting what words come out of his mouth sir. He... looking around and making a pointed glare at Ekira, ...led us in saying he had information and then ambushed Rafael. You'll notice the gushing wound compared to the more innocuous knock on the head."
Kirin Quetzal |
All diplomatic like
"We received a note indicating someone was in danger, and came to investigate." Kirin says, handing over the note. If she was the one that ended up with it. I don't remember, actually.
"Do you mind if we have a look around? With your supervision of course." If no one stops her she'll begin confidently investigating, signalling her party to aid with their keen eyes.
GM.Silbeg |
Ekira finishes casting her spell.
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
As he doesn't come awake with that, she shakes her head, and casts again.
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The man wakes up, and yells, "Help! They attacked me! They lured me here, and ambushed me! They are the ones that have been committing all the murders and they are demon worshipers, too! Help me!"
Ekira hears this, and nods her head, and says, "Sheriff, would you please do your duty, and arrest these people?"
Tobias Luin thinks for a moment, and says, "I think not, at least not yet. I would like to hear from both the man, here, Dalton Krunne I believe is his name, and then the others. Then I will decide what I will do. Mr. Krunne, if you wouldn't mind?"
Krunne stands up, and while he still looks quite a bit the worse for wear, starts making his case. "Well, sir, I saw these people murder a young man last night, and in cold blood. I guess that they saw me, because they then tracked me down here, and attempted to silence me, permanently. They would have done it, too, if it weren't for your timely intervention."
He thinks about it, and makes a big show of pulling out a potion vial, saying, "Curative potion..." and then drinking it.
2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 3 = 9
The sheriff thinks a moment before turning to the Pathfinders. "So folks, what is your side of the story." He looks at Krunne before saying, "And please present to me all of your evidence."
