This is the discussion thread.
For the new folks... some threads to check out that will help:
Plus, Damien has some good info on his user profile
This tagline template is VERY useful to set up your PbP tagline so that it has the vital information at a glance.
I'll be adding more stuff to the campaign information, once I have the time.

PapaSteve (aka Cyrus the Flea) checking in, if you have room for me! If we still need to recruit, I might have a guy who would be new to PbP (that I am strong-arming to come to GenCon next year) who could join us. If you need to open recruitment, let me know and I will bug him about it.
| GM.Silbeg |
total of 4, but I don't know if Keith was even interested. Marc, AJ, and Ray are all in. Looks like with Jin Shu Ping we've got two seats available, so it is totally up to you!

nothing wrong with impatience. I find it reassuring when others are as impatient as I. :D

Unless you have someone already lined up, I have a 6th for us. I am strong-arming my friend from back home to start PbP. he is an Avid gamer, but has only dabbled in Pathfinder and PFS. I plan on spending some time with him tonight on the phone to get his account and profile all set up.
Let me know if that is all ok!

@PapaSteve - Keith has declined this round - so bring in your buddy and let's get this show on the road!
| GM.Silbeg |
@Steve, for sure... invite away. Especially since the point of this scenario is to expand the PbP group, or at least to show people what it can be like (man, am I putting pressure on myself, or what, with this!)
| GM.Silbeg |
FYI - I'll post the "briefing" for this, as soon as everyone has dotted in, and has their characters posted.
For those using Hero Lab, it is really easy to add your stats... just export the statblock using "BBCode" -- and then paste it into your character profile. That's how I tend to do it... see Gunari Maximoff, Warpriest of Cayden Cailean

HeroLab is the Devil!
but it was probably 1000% easier than manually creating the syntax the first time. Oh well - copy paste from here on.

Just FYI for you Silbeg - our 6th will be joining us this evening.

Hey, this is Steve's friend, Aaron. I don't really know what I'm doing but Steve is going to get me started.
Jin Shu Ping

Welcome! We will get it figured out, you should be good to start Silbeg!
| GM.Silbeg |
Hello, Aaron!
If Steve is helping you, you will be in great hands.
Gonna look over the characters, and get started tomorrow.
| GM.Silbeg |
Still waiting on a few characters to be set up.

I've looked through the links at the top of the forum from GM.Silbeg. I'm sure I will mess up something with formatting but I should get the gist soon enough. I need to do some reading on Golarion so I know a little bit about the region we will be in.
| GM.Silbeg |
It is all good, Theron. We're all learning together, or so I like to say.
'What does that mean? Do they realize you are full of crap? Why am I posting this?'
Lady BroKhan

Bored. So bored. I bet i can take Logg. chop him up like timbre.
"Where this Valsin!? Need smash. Is it Mor'taugh's fault? He the slow one?!!"
Lady BroKahn seems to be keeping her temper very well atm......

My sincere apologies, but I have also just realized that Methodios' online profile is not yet at level 2. I will try my hardest to update this before midday, but all of my Hero Lab files that came with me to GenCon have dropbox conflicts now (I sorted Lort out, but no others yet).
Lady BroKhan

keep asking the questions. the only one who hasn't had input is marc so dont wait on him.
| GM.Silbeg |
If someone stops him, Dreng will still answer questions.

Methodios is all leveled up now. I recovered the Hero Lab file from before GenCon (I didn't apply any GenCon chronicles to him) so we're all good now.
I would like to take the slow advancement track for Methodios though, please. I'll remind you at chronicle time.
Again, sorry about the lack of update (he leveled up to 3 like ages ago and I didn't realize I hadn't sorted out the forum stuff).
Main changes:
- HP: 20
- CMB: +6
- CMD: 18
- Fort save: +5
- Ref save: +5
- Perception: +8
- Sense Motive: +8
Also, in Hero Lab I had marked down to buy the following this scenario:
- Masterwork tool (Profession, sailor) - 50gp
- Masterwork Composite Longbow (Str +3) - 2PP (700gp)
Let me know if I have to wait for that or if we can retcon those to the beginning of the scenario. Thanks again!

Again, sorry about the lack of update (he leveled up to32 like ages ago and I didn't realize I hadn't sorted out the forum stuff).
Fixed that for you, I hope.
No problem having the items... no encounters have happened yet.

"Beeeeelch." Lady BroKahn sets her beer down. "Rush to the beer. Nothing wrong with that."
Mor'targh and Lady BroKahn are level 2. If Methodios is 2 as well, we are 1.5 w/ 6 players
Missed that, because Marc hadn't posted his build. Taking that into consideration, do you want to play at tier 2 or tier 1? I'd probably recommend the latter, since there won't be much challenge at tier 1 for this group.
Also, who has played this scenario before?
Thanks!
Theron Anwymane

I think Tier 2 should be fine, except it doesn't look like we have much of a healer in this group. Looks like lots of firepower though, so in my inexperienced opinion we should be good with it.
Lady BroKahn - ENRAGED

Clearly the Challenge must come to us!
we should be tier 2 yes. and i've played it twice at cotn
Jin Shu Ping
|
Yea, This is a fresh faced character, but I don't doubt we will do just fine in tier 2. Since this is a level 1, playing in tier 2 doesn't preclude me from playing it again right?
And this is my first time playing this scenario
Lady BroKhan
|
you can play this scenario once and only once at tier 2, and unlimited at tier 1. -based solely on your character level not on difficulty

Jack - One thing has come to my attention that might be odd - the Skald rage song is a morale bonus to str/con, and the unchained barbarian rage is an untyped bonus to hit/damage... so they will both work on me in combat is my understanding (and basic forum scourging agrees). Just an fyi and an opening to refute before it matters ;)
Mor'targh
|
I have a strong opinion. For tier 2!
| GM.Silbeg |
Sounds good to me..on all cases.
I would have been surprised if the skald song didn't stack, in any case it is a boost to the stat, not the attack. The bonus to hit and damage is still a strength bonus.

Chris B and I hashed this out (and some other things) in exactitude a while back when he first switched his barbarian to unchained (playing alongside a Skald). They do stack in RAW, but I believe not in RAI. However, we're playing PFS, so RAI can go take a very f*cking long walk down wintery lane. I just checked the pre-GenCon errata for ACG (none exists for PU) and there's no nerf to that. So... my summary:
When a Skald begins an inspired rage song:
(I'm talking about unchained barbarians below)
- They may simply take on the inspired rage. In that case, they must accept the inspired rage's bonus and cannot use their own because it says: may use the Strength, Constitution, and Will saving throw bonuses, as well as AC penalties, based on her own ability and level instead of those from the skald (still suffering no fatigue after the inspired rage ends).
- They can ignore the inspired rage and not accept it.
- At any point thereafter, the barbarian can enter their own rage (actually, this is regardless of barbarian type). It even specifically says: However, inspired rage does not allow the ally to activate abilities dependent on other rage class abilities, such as rage powers, blood casting, or bloodrager bloodlines; the ally must activate her own rage class ability in order to use these features. (Note: this was before unchained, so again, I don't think it was RAI to double-dip on the rage bonuses, just possible to activate a barbarian rage during inspired rage in order to use rage abilities).
- If the barbarian ends their rage, while inspired rage is still going they gain the fatigued condition for 1 minute.
- Apply the morale bonuses granted by inspired rage in addition to the existing rage, if the barbarian chooses to accept it (and why wouldn't you?).
- They can ignore the inspired rage and not accept it.
- If the barbarian ends their rage, while inspired rage is still going they gain the fatigued condition for 1 minute.
FYI, the bonus to Will saves from the unchained barbarian is untyped and so will stack with the inspired rage will save bonus (and... well, everything). Similarly, be sure to take both AC penalties.
As a further FYI, inspired rage says nothing about not being able to enter it while being fatigued (so you can enter it while fatigued), but neither does it clear the fatigued condition - so you'll be fatigued and inspired raging all at once.
Chris and I have a gentlemen's agreement not to stack things in Reign of Winter (but also to allow him the unchained bonuses in place of the inspired rage - which, as above, is one option you don't have in RAW), but that ain't PFS. Stack away. Eek out every advantage you can. It's you vs John Compton baby. His avatar is even that of an Aspis Agent in disguise. Don't believe me? John Compton's avatar vs Generic Aspis Agent #1. Coincidence? I think not! Sic 'im Pathfinders!
Hmm....
You know you play too much PbP when...
You have conspiracy theories related to someone's avatar and some other random avatar that you found.

Interesting.
They may simply take on the inspired rage. In that case, they must accept the inspired rage's bonus and cannot use their own because it says: may use the Strength, Constitution, and Will saving throw bonuses, as well as AC penalties, based on her own ability and level instead of those from the skald (still suffering no fatigue after the inspired rage ends).
I took this to mean that someone could accept inspired rage and use their own rage bonuses with the added benefit of being able to chose to accept rage on a per round basis without fatigue. Essentially adding rounds to one's rages per day.
I assumed one couldn't double up on unchained rage and inspired rage, but a lot of things don't work how I think they should.
