grease DC15:

Grease

School conjuration (creation); Level bard 1, sorcerer/wizard 1

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S, M (butter)

Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

Target one object or 10-ft. square

Duration 1 min./level (D)

Save see text; SR no

A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.

Moved Fomiel after casting and put text box with word grease were the spell would be.

Vardan moves he and his wolf into the door, and jabs his lance deep into the Mongrelman's side, but the traitor remains standing.

Fomiel casts his grease spell, and one of the Mongrelmen looks down with a puzzled look before his feet fly out from under him. The other two are still kneeling behind overturned tables with their crossbows leveled in the party's direction.

One of the crossbowmen from where Fomiel laid his grease spell fires, but the bolt sails off target. Another Mongrelman behind the second set of tables fires and the bolt strikes Godwin in a space between where his armor covers, but barely manages to reach skin.

One of the mongrelmen in Fomiel's grease takes aim, and fires at Godwin. The mongrelman near the lizard fires at Sidonia. Again, Godwin's armor takes most of the blow from the bolt.

Fomiel tries to cloud the mind of the Mongrelman nearest Selindra, but the mind of the traitor is too foreign, and he shrugs it off.

Vardan pushes Thorne forward, and reaches out with his hammer, striking out at the Mongrelman to the south, leaving it reeling but still on its feet as Thorne tears at the Mongrelman between the cleric and paladin. That Mongrelman drops to the ground.

Fomiel sends a flurry of sensation to a Mongrelman kneeling behind the table to the south, and the creature stops what he was doing with a dazed look on his face. The Mongrelman to the south of him continues to flounder around in the grease.

The other Mongrelman behind the table looks at his two compatriots with a mild look of disdain and fires at Vardan. The bolt takes Vardan high in the chest, near his throat.

Sidonia moves around the battlefield, and easily dispatches the Mongrelman who was floundering in the grease.

Selindra, seeing that her original target was dispatched by Thorne, turns to the Mongrelman Vardan hit, and lays him out.

Drakra, much to his (and everyone else's) surprise, hits the non dazed Mongrleman, despite the creature having cover, with the bolt fired from his seemingly ancient crossbow.

Round 4
Seeing his shot actually strike a foe, Drakra jumps with glee, forgetting to continue to offend his enemies in the process (stop Inspire Courage). He then fires his crossbow at anyone that he can see who is still standing.

Attack-crossbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

However, unlike the last show, this one, probably because he put the bolt in backwards, spirals through the air before slamming sideways into the table in front of one of the archers.

Saddened from his state of glee, Drakra grumbles and once more inserts a bolt into the crossbow, making sure that the pointy end is actually facing in the direction it will fire this time.

Standard: Attack

Free Action: Stop Inspire Courage (should still be in effect for Godwin, Vardan and Fomiel.)

Is the one shooting Vardan the one farthest south, or the one against the table?

Round 4

Vardan winces, I need to take my vows, to learn to focus the beauty of the song to heal... that is an ugly looking wound...

Shooter all the way south:

He turns Thorne to the south and points him at the Mongrelmen in the grease, picking up speed and charging forward, smashing out with the hammer as soon as he has the reach to strike the crossbow-weilder, then keeps riding foward, getting Thorne's teeth into range, ready to strike at the beast if he tries to reload or fire...

Charge w/ Ride-by attack -- should be 2 south of where Vardan is located on map.

Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 12 Ugh. Hopefully, Thorne's AoOs will save me.
AoO (v. shooter) - Thorne: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10 Ugh. Nope.

Shooter the western one:

He turns Thorne to the south and points him at the Mongrelmen in the grease, rushing to stand over the now-fallen Mongrelman, directing Thorne to attack the Mongrelman, while he stands in the saddle and swings his hammer at the crossbowman in the back...

Normal move, not a charge, Vardan's in the right spot on the map...

Thorne (Bite): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12 Looks Pretty Miss-ish
Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15

Fomiel moves into the room and casts another cantrip, trying to challenge the mind of a mongrelman untouched by his charismatic power.

"Stop!!"

Daze on 1 or 6, whatever one has yet to be dazed.

Vardan, made a slight adjustment to your position so you could be in range of the western shooter. Diagonal squares are 5' for each odd square you count (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc) and 10' for each even square (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.) your original spot had the shooter 15' away. The one adjacent to you is dazed anyway

Godwin makes a thrust at the Mongrelman which skewers the creature and pins it to the wall briefly. It slides to the ground in a heap after Godwin removes the Falchion.

Vardan guides Thorne to the greased Mongrelmen. The agile wolf staying just out of its area of effect. Thorne tears into the dazed Mongrelman damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 leaving a garish wound in its side. At the same time Vardan smashes the head of the other Mongrelman that had been shooting him into pulp.

Fomiel, if you want to take a different action, go ahead. All your available daze targets were killed ;)

Drakra fires another bolt, spinning it into the table, the Mongrelman was behind cover, after all.

You made your choice, traitor

Godwin says with finality as he tries to move into a space where he can swing his sword. If he can get to the last mongrelman he will swing his sword.

As the mongrelman tenses to swing his club, Godwin brings his Falchion across in a swing which slices open the creatures midsection. The traitor falls to the ground, trying in vain to hold in his insides which are trying to escape. It lets out a soft groan, and falls still.

Selindra surveys the battle scene ominously. She stares for a long time, almost as if the battle seems to be replaying itself back in her head. After several long moments, the blood of the mongrelmen draining off her sword onto the ground, she finally wipes the blade clean, turning to the others and sheathing her blade. Victory won, justice given. May the Heart and Blade find strength.

After a few moments she finally seems to come back to herself looking at the others. Having made it through without a scratch she blinks a few moments when she sees Sidonia casting a spell, and then notices Vardan's wounds. "Lady's breath, is everyone alright?"

Drakra steps out, puffing his chest proudly while pointing his crossbow at the single bolt sticking out of one traitor.
All is well. Well fought all. You did a great job with a minimum of wounds. He gestures toward Vardan. Except for him. Looking now directly at Vardan. You really need to work on avoiding getting hit. It really hurts and tends to leave nasty red stains on our clothes.

Looking across the room and past the overturned tables.
So, shall we continue? Continue and see what else these mongrels have in store that will fail to overcome the might of my . . . our group.

He will then cast Detect Magic and search the corpses for anything of value.
